The 2nd CASMS conference was held virtually through Gather. Town platform from October 17 to 21, 2022, with a total of 363 registrants including an outstanding and diverse group of scientists at the forefront of their research fields from both academia and industry worldwide, especially in the United States and China. The conference offered a 5-day agenda with an exciting scientific program consisting of two plenary lectures, 14 parallel symposia, and 4 special sessions in which a total of 97 invited speakers presented technological innovations and their applications in proteomics & biological mass spectrometry and metabo-lipidomics & pharmaceutical mass spectrometry. In addition, 18 invited speakers/panelists presented at 3 research-focused and 2 career development workshops. Moreover, 144 posters, 54 lightning talks, 5 sponsored workshops, and 14 exhibitions were presented, from which 20 posters and 8 lightning talks received presentation awards. Furthermore, the conference featured 1 MCP lectureship and 5 young investigator awardees for the first time to highlight outstanding mid-career and early-career rising stars in mass spectrometry from our society. The conference provided a unique scientific platform for young scientists (i.e., graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty/investigators) to present their research, meet with prominent scientists, and learn about career development and job opportunities (http://casms.org).

The surface-modified zinc oxide quantum dots (ZnO QDs) have broad application prospects in the field of biomedicine because of their good water solubility, dispersibility, and high fluorescence stability. The alkali bases play important roles in controlling the morphology, size distribution, dispersity, and fluorescence intensity of the synthesized ZnO QDs. In this article, ZnO QDs were synthesized to induce hydrolysis–condensation reaction. The influences of alkali bases (LiOH, NaOH, and KOH) and the ratio of n(Zn2+):n(OH−) on the properties of synthesized ZnO QDs were investigated. The results show that the particle size of the ZnO QDs prepared using LiOH and NaOH as raw materials are smaller than that using KOH. ZnO QDs prepared at the ratio of n(Zn2+):n(LiOH) = 1:1 have the best fluorescence performance and dispersibility.

Objectives To solve the steering control problem of X-rudder submarines under different available rudder surfaces conditions, the rudder control distributor of an X-rudder submarine is designed.Methods A cascade control structure including a main controller and control allocator is adopted in the design of the steering control system. The main controller adopts an existing mature algorithm, and a constrained control allocation algorithm is designed by converting the rudder angle control allocation problem with the rudder angle and rudder speed limit to solve the weighted least square (WLS) problem. The control allocation algorithm is verified through a simulation of turning at certain depths and diving in three operation cases (i.e. quadruple rudder, triple rudder and double rudder).Results Under the given rudder conditions, with the decrease in the steering surface, the difference in the submarine's diving performance is not significant, turning performance is reduced slightly and heeling and rudder angle oscillation tends to be serious.Conclusions The simulation results show that the control allocation algorithm is reasonable and suitable for different rudder configurations.

The calculation of satellite orbit involves some very complex formula derivations and expansions, which are very difficult to manually derive and prone to errors. And the efficiency of manual derivation is not high. We can use computer algebra systems to derive complex formulas related to satellite orbits. This can avoid some of the drawbacks of manual derivation and significantly improve computational efficiency and accuracy. In the past, the relationship among three anomalies was generally represented in the form of a trigonometric series with the first eccentricity e as the parameter. In this paper, the trigonometric series with the parameter m = 1 − 1 − e 2 e is used, as determined by the Lagrange conjugate series. We can use the formula of the Lagrange conjugate series to derive the relationship between the true anomaly and elliptic anomaly. And the relationship between the elliptic anomaly and the mean anomaly is derived by using the symbolic iteration method. In this research paper, we calculated the accuracy of the trigonometric series expansion among three types of anomalies at the first eccentricity e equal to values of 0.01, 0.1, and 0.2. The calculation results indicate that the accuracy of the trigonometric series expansion with m as the parameter is better than 10−5. Moreover, in some cases, the trigonometric series expansion among the three anomalies with m as a parameter is simpler in form than the expansion expressed with parameter e. This paper also derived and calculated the symbolic expressions and extreme values of the difference among three anomalies and expressed the extreme values of the difference in the form of a power series of e. It can be seen that the extreme value increases with the increase in eccentricity e. And the absolute values of the extreme value of the difference between the elliptic anomaly and the mean anomaly, the true anomaly and the elliptic anomaly, and the true anomaly and the mean anomaly increase in this order. When the eccentricity is small, the absolute value of the extreme value of the difference between the true anomaly and the mean anomaly is about twice as large as the elliptic anomaly and the mean anomaly and the true anomaly and the mean anomaly. The intent of this perspective is to share the recommendations of the International Consortium for Innovation and Quality in Pharmaceutical Development Metabolite Bioanalysis Working Group on the fit‐for‐purpose metabolite bioanalysis in support of drug development and registration. This report summarizes the considerations for the trigger, timing, and rigor of bioanalysis in the various assessments to address unique challenges due to metabolites, with respect to efficacy and safety, which may arise during drug development from investigational new drug (IND) enabling studies, and phase I, phase II, and phase III clinical trials to regulatory submission. The recommended approaches ensure that important drug metabolites are identified in a timely manner and properly characterized for efficient drug development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: Sclerotinia stem rot caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum seriously endangers oilseed rape production worldwide, and the occurrence of fungicide‐resistant mutants of S. sclerotiorum leads to control decline. Thus, it is critical to explore new green substitutes with different action mechanisms and high antifungal activity. Herein, the activity and the action mechanism of natamycin against S. sclerotiorum were evaluated. RESULTS: Natamycin showed potent inhibition on the mycelial growth of S. sclerotiorum, and half‐maximal effective concentration (EC50) values against 103 S. sclerotiorum strains ranged from 0.53 to 4.04 μg/mL (mean 1.44 μg/mL). Natamycin also exhibited high efficacy against both carbendazim‐ and dimethachlone‐resistant strains of S. sclerotiorum on detached oilseed rape leaves. No cross‐resistance was detected between natamycin and carbendazim. Natamycin markedly disrupted hyphal form, sclerotia formation, integrity of the cell membrane, and reduced the content of oxalic acid and ergosterol, whereas it increased the reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde content. Interestingly, exogenous addition of ergosterol could reduce the inhibition of natamycin against S. sclerotiorum. Importantly, natamycin significantly inhibited expression of the Cyp51 gene, which is contrary to results for the triazole fungicide flusilazole, indicating a different action mechanism from triazole fungicides. [Objectives] To realize submarine steering control with low noise when a submarine sails on a surface in a complex sea state, [Methods] a heading controller is designed based on linear motion model on horizontal plane. A sliding mode control based on double power reaching law is adopted, which has the advantages of insensitivity to parameter changes and external disturbances, fast response, and easy implementation. To solve the wave disturbance problem, a wave filter is designed using a Nonlinear Extended State Observer(NESO)to compensate the external disturbance. [Results] The stability of the heading sliding mode controller is proved by theoretical derivation. The Matlab simulation results verify its good filtering effect. [Conclusions] The results show that performance of low noise, fast and high precision are achieved with the heading sliding mode controller at different speeds, different sea conditions and different wave angles.

Toxicokinetics (TK) is an integral part of nonclinical (preclinical) safety assessment of small‐molecule new chemical entities in drug development. It is employed to describe the systemic exposure of a drug candidate and/or its important metabolite(s) achieved in study animals and elucidate the relationship (proportional, over‐proportional, or under‐proportional) between systemic exposure and dose administered and the associated differences/similarities between male and female animals along with the possible accumulation/induction. TK data and the derived parameters are employed to propose safe starting doses for clinical use of the new drug candidate through proper extrapolation of findings in study animals to humans. This review has attempted to highlight the health authority expectations on TK assessment in supporting preclinical safety profiling of new chemical entities. A robust TK assessment requires good understanding of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination processes of drug candidate, adequate TK sampling (e.g., controls where relevant), implementation of fit‐for‐purpose bioanalytical methods (validated or scientifically qualified) along with necessary measures to prevent mis‐dosing or ex vivo contamination, and establishment of stability of the drug candidate and/or its metabolite(s) in the intended species matrix to ensure the reliability of bioanalytical and TK data.
