6. A review of named entity recognition research.

Abstract

Named entity recognition (NER), as a core task in natural language processing, finds extensive applications in information extraction, question answering systems, machine translation, and more. Firstly, descriptions and summaries are provided for rule-based, dictionary-based, and statistical machine learning methods. Subsequently, an overview of NER models based on deep learning, including supervised, distant supervision, and Transformer-based approaches, is presented. Particularly, recent advancements in Transformer architecture and its related models in the field of natural language processing are elucidated, such as Transformer-based masked language modeling and autoregressive language modeling, including BERT, T5, and GPT. Furthermore, brief discussions are conducted on data transfer learning and model transfer learning methods applied to NER. Previous studies have shown that the rs5888 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the scavenger receptor class B type 1 (SCARB1) gene is associated with serum lipid levels in a sex-specific manner. The present study was undertaken to detect the sex-specific influence of the SCARB1 rs5888 SNP on the serum lipid response to atorvastatin in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods: A total of 158 unrelated ACS patients (108 males, 50 females) were enrolled, and all patients received atorvastatin 20 mg/daily after PCI. Genotyping of the rs5888 SNP was performed by polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing. Serum lipid profiles were determined before treatment and after an average follow-up time of one year.Results: The baseline serum total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and apolipoprotein (Apo)AI levels were higher in females than in males (P< 0.05). 27. Write-Optimized B+ Tree Index Technology for Persistent Memory.

Abstract

Due to its low latency, byte-addressable, non-volatile, and high density, persistent memory (PM) is expected to be used to design a high-performance storage system. However, PM also has disadvantages such as limited endurance, thereby proposing challenges to traditional index technologies such as B+ tree. B+ tree is originally designed for dynamic random access memory (DRAM)-based or disk-based systems and has a large write amplification problem. The high write amplification is detrimental to a PM-based system. This paper proposes WO-tree, a write-optimized B+ tree for PM. WO-tree adopts an unordered write mechanism for the leaf nodes, and the unordered write mechanism can reduce a large number of write operations caused by maintaining the entry order in the leaf nodes. When the leaf node is split, WO-tree performs the cache line flushing operation after all write operations are completed, which can reduce frequent data flushing operations. WO-tree adopts a partial logging mechanism and it only writes the log for the leaf node. The inner node recognizes the data inconsistency by the read operation and the data can be recovered using the leaf node information, thereby significantly reducing the logging overhead. Furthermore, WO-tree adopts a lock-free search for inner nodes, which reduces the locking overhead for concurrency operation. We evaluate WO-tree using the Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) workloads. Compared with traditional B+ tree, wB-tree, and Fast-Fair, the number of cache line flushes caused by WO-tree insertion operations is reduced by 84.7%, 22.2%, and 30.8%, respectively, and the execution time is reduced by 84.3%, 27.3%, and 44.7%, respectively. Abstract

The tetratricopeptide repeat domain protein 39B gene (TTC39B) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of rs581080 has been associated with serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. However, little is known about such association in the Chinese populations. The present study was performed to assess the association between the TTC39B rs581080 SNP and serum lipid levels and the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) and ischemic stroke (IS) in the Guangxi Han population. Genotypes of the TTC39B rs581080 SNP in 1741 unrelated subjects (CAD, 578; IS, 537; and healthy controls; 624) were determined by the Snapshot Technology. The genotypic and allelic frequencies of the TTC39B rs581080 SNP were different between the CAD/IS patients and controls (P < 0.01 for all). The CG/GG genotypes and G allele were associated with an increased risk of CAD (P = 0.001 for CG/GG vs. CC, P = 0.003 for G vs. C) and IS (P = 0.002 for CG/GG vs. CC; P = 0.004 for G vs. C). The CG/GG genotypes in the healthy controls, but not in CAD or IS patients, were also associated with a decreased serum HDL-C concentration. These results suggest that the TTC39B rs581080 SNP is associated with the risk of CAD and IS in our study population. It is likely to increase the risk of CAD and IS by reducing serum HDL-C levels.

35. Association of RBM5 rs2013208 SNP with serum lipid levels in two Chinese ethnic groups

Abstract

The RNA binding motif protein 5 gene (RBM5) rs2013208 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) has been associated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in a previous genome-wide association study, but little is known about such association of the RBM5 rs2013208 SNP and serum lipid profiles in the Chinese populations. The present study was to detect the association of the RBM5 rs2013208 SNP and several environmental factors with serum lipid levels in the Jing and Han populations. Genotyping of the RBM5 rs2013208 SNP in 635 subjects of Jing and 648 participants of Han peoples was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism, and then confirmed by direct sequencing. There were no significant differences in the genotypic and allelic frequencies of the RBM5 rs2013208 SNP between the two ethnic groups or between males and females. The RBM5 rs2013208G allele carriers had lower serum HDL-C levels in both Jing and Han than the G allele non-carriers. The G allele carriers in Jing had higher serum total cholesterol (TC) levels and higher apolipoprotein (Apo) A1/ApoB ratio than the G allele non-carriers (P < 0.05). Subgroup analysis according to sex showed that the G allele carriers had lower serum HDL-C levels in both Jing and Han females but not in males (P < 0.05). The G allele carriers had higher TC levels in Jing females but not in Jing males, and lower ApoA1/ApoB ratio in Jing males but not in Jing females. Serum lipid parameters were also correlated with several environmental factors in the Jing and Han populations, or in males and females in both ethnic groups. The association of the RBM5 rs2013208 SNP and serum lipid levels is different between the Jing and Han populations. These associations might have an ethnic- and/or sex-specificity.

Abstract

We study the system of a single qubit couples to a single mode thermal field according to a multi-photon Jaynes?Cummings-type interaction with phase decoherence. Both the time evolving entanglement and the stationary state entanglement are calculated by adopting the log-negativity as a measure. It is found that the multi-photon process can enhance the stationary state entanglement of this system and can enlarge the range of the parameter ?/g and the mean photon number of initial thermal field in which the stationary state is distillable.
