Abstract: By analyzing $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data with an integrated luminosity of 7.9~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, the branching fraction of $D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau}$ is determined as $\mathcal{B}=(9.9\pm 1.1_\mathrm{stat}\pm 0.5_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$. Taking the most precise result $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})=(3.981\pm 0.079_\mathrm{stat}\pm0.040_\mathrm{syst})\times10^{-4}$, we determine $R_{\tau/\mu} = \Gamma(D^+\to\tau^+\nu_{\tau})/\Gamma(D^+\to\mu^+\nu_{\mu})= 2.49\pm0.31$, achieving a factor of two improvement in precision compared to the previous BESIII result. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction of lepton flavor universality within one standard deviation.

Abstract: Using $(27.12\pm0.14) \times 10^{8}$ $\psi(2S)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII, we search for the decay $\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}$ via the process $\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S)$, and only find a signal with a significance of $1.7\,\sigma$. The upper limit of the product branching fraction at the 90% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S))\times \mathcal{B}(\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p})<2.4\times 10^{-7}$. The branching fractions of $\chi_{cJ}\to p\bar{p}~(J=0,1,2)$ are also measured to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to p\bar{p})=(2.51\pm0.02\pm0.08)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to p\bar{p})=(8.16\pm0.09\pm0.25)\times 10^{-4}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to p\bar{p})=(8.33\pm0.09\pm0.22)\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: By analyzing $(27.12\pm0.14)\times10^8$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of $\chi_{cJ} \to p \bar{p} K^0_S K^- \pi^+ +c.c.(J=0, 1, 2)$ are observed for the first time with statistical significances greater than $10\sigma$. The branching fractions of these decays are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(2.61\pm0.27\pm0.32)\times10^{-5},$ $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(4.16\pm0.24\pm0.46)\times10^{-5},$ and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to p \bar p K^{0}_{S} K^- \pi^+ + c.c.)=(5.63\pm0.28\pm0.46)\times10^{-5}$, respectively. The processes $\chi_{c1,2} \to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.$ are also observed, with statistical significances of 5.7$\sigma$ and 7.0$\sigma$, respectively. Evidence for $\chi_{c0} \to\bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.$ is found with statistical significances of 3.3$\sigma$ each. The corresponding branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c0}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.) =(1.61^{+0.68}_{-0.64}\pm0.23)\times10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c1}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.)=(4.06^{+0.80}_{-0.76}\pm0.52)\times10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(\chi_{c2}\to \bar{p} \Lambda(1520) K^0_S \pi^{+} + c.c.)=(4.09^{+0.87}_{-0.84}\pm0.42)\times10^{-5}$. Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

Abstract: Y-Ba-Cu-O (YBCO) and Sm-Ba-Cu-O (SmBCO) thin films have been used for the first time as heterogeneous seeds to multi-seed successfully the melt growth of bulk YBCO in a multi-seeded melt growth (MSMG) process. The use of thin film seeds, which may be prepared with highly controlled orientation (i.e. with a well-defined a-b plane and precisely known a-direction), is based on their superheating properties and reduces significantly contamination of the bulk sample by the seed material. A variety of grain boundaries were obtained by varying the angle between the seeds. Microstructural studies indicate that the extent of residual melt deposited at the grain boundary decreases with increasing grain boundary contact angle. It is established that the growth front proceeds continuously at the (110)/(110) grain boundary without trapping liquid, which leads to the formation of a clean grain boundary.

Abstract: As COVID-19 continues to incur enormous personal and societal costs, widespread vaccination against the virus remains the most effective strategy to end the pandemic. However, vaccine hesitancy is rampant and has been steadily rising for decades. Seeking to remedy this, personality psychologists have begun to explore psychological drivers of vaccine hesitancy, including the Big Five. Openness to Experience presents itself as a vexing case as previous attempts to study its association with vaccine hesitancy have yielded mixed findings. In this prereg-istered study, we hypothesise that the impact of Openness to Experience on Vaccine Hesitancy depends on its interplay with other factors, namely conspiracy beliefs. To test this, we apply logistic regressions, simple slopes analyses, and propensity score matching to a nationally representative sample of 2500 Italian citizens, collected in May 2021. Contrary to our original hypothesis (i.e., Openness will have a positive association with Vaccine Hesitancy at high - and a negative at low - levels of Conspiracy Beliefs) we find that high Openness diminishes the impact of Belief in Conspiracy Theories on Vaccine Hesitancy. Consistent with previous research, we propose that Openness serves as a buffer against extreme positions by allowing individuals to be exposed to a greater diversity of information.

Abstract: Toothed metal-plate connector (MPC) is a cost-effective connection method, easy to install with high assembly efficiency for manufacturing engineered timber trusses. In this study, In order to combine the advantages of the MPC with glued laminated bamboo (glubam) structures, a total of 136 MPC glubam joints, divided into 22 groups according to testing parameters, were tested and analyzed. Design strength values of the anchorage strength of metal plate tooth embedded in glubam, the tensile and shear strengths of toothed metal plate in glubam joints were provided in reference of the existing timber code specifications. The results show that the linear interpolation formula provided by the existing design code largely overestimates the anchorage strength of metal plate tooth embedded in glubam for the nonorthogonal loading directions. An angular equation expressed as the loading direction is therefore proposed. The design shear strength of aligning the major axis (tooth slot direction) of the metal plate parallel to the plate longitudinal direction is higher than that of aligning plate major axis perpendicular to the plate longitudinal direction, especially for the combined shear and tension loading. The design tensile and shear strengths of the MPC glubam joints are obviously larger than those of the Class I MPC timber joints given in the Chinese Standard, indicating that the MPC glubam is hopeful to be alternative to replace the MPC timber structures such as roof truss systems.
