Real-time automatic displacement monitoring of metro tunnels is vital for ensuring operational safety and contributes to carbon reduction goals by improving system efficiency. This study focuses on key monitoring elements such as displacement, settlement, convergence, and cracking. Through the analysis of continuous monitoring data, a real-time displacement monitoring model for metro tunnels based on robotic total stations is proposed. This model can timely identify potential risks, thereby ensuring the safe operation of tunnels and reducing carbon emissions from unnecessary maintenance operations, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of metro operations. This article takes the Jinan Metro Tunnel Displacement Real-time Monitoring Project in China as a case study and constructs a comprehensive monitoring framework using robotic total stations, intelligent automated deformation monitoring data collectors, and cloud servers. The implementation details of the project, displacement monitoring principles, monitoring system construction, and data analysis processes are elaborated in detail. Taking the monitoring data of Jinan Metro Line 2 from April 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023, as an example, the results show that the tunnel displacement is within the safe range, verifying the practical application value of the method proposed in this paper. Recently, evidence for a conducting surface state (CSS) below 19 K was reported for the correlated d-electron small gap semiconductor FeSi. In the work reported herein, the CSS and the bulk phase of FeSi were probed via electrical resistivity ρ measurements as a function of temperature T, magnetic field B to 60 T, and pressure P to 7.6 GPa, and by means of a magnetic field-modulated microwave spectroscopy (MFMMS) technique. The properties of FeSi were also compared with those of the Kondo insulator SmB6 to address the question of whether FeSi is a d-electron analogue of an f-electron Kondo insulator and, in addition, a topological Kondo insulator (TKI). The overall behavior of the magnetoresistance of FeSi at temperatures above and below the onset temperature TS = 19 K of the CSS is similar to that of SmB6. The two energy gaps, inferred from the ρ(T) data in the semiconducting regime, increase with pressure up to about 7 GPa, followed by a drop which coincides with a sharp suppression of TS. Several studies of ρ(T) under pressure on SmB6 reveal behavior similar to that of FeSi in which the two energy gaps vanish at a critical pressure near the pressure at which TS vanishes, although the energy gaps in SmB6 initially decrease with pressure, whereas in FeSi they increase with pressure. The MFMMS measurements showed a sharp feature at TS ≈ 19 K for FeSi, which could be due to ferromagnetic ordering of the CSS. However, no such feature was observed at TS ≈ 4.5 K for SmB6.

The membrane fouling issue has aroused great concern. To improve their antifouling properties, surface grafting with oxidative deposition were employed to amend a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane. The modifiers were amino-modified graphene oxide (AMGO), dopamine (DPA) and 1,3-diaminoguanidine hydrochloride (DAGH). To take bovine serum albumin (BSA, 1 g/l) as an example of organic materials, BSA interception rate and pure water flux recovery rate increased to 93.65% and 66.74%, respectively, while the corresponding values for the original membrane were much lower (72.82% and 31.72%). The optimum synthesis conditions were found to be 1.5 mg/ml of DPA, 1 wt% of DAGH, 2 mg/ml of AMGO, 4 h of DPA oxidation deposition time and 1 h of AMGO grafting time. Many functional groups like C = N, -NH2, C = O and -OH improved the membrane surface hydrophilicity leading to a higher resistance to organic pollution. Dopamine and guanidyl facilitated the antimicrobial performance of the modified membrane, whose antimicrobial rate was up to 96%, while the raw membrane had no antimicrobial activity. The amended membrane possessed 40% higher mechanical strength than the initial one. It could withstand a high pumping suction force. The noteworthy property was that the irreversible fouling rate decreased by 55%. Therefore, the amended membrane could restore its flux much more easily. Influenza A virus (IAV) can rapidly disseminate among animals through various transmission routes, with emerging evidence suggesting the ocular surface as an important entrance. However, it remains unclear how the virus invades the respiratory tract after ocular exposure. Here, we demonstrated that H1N1 (A/swine/Guangdong/1/2011) utilizes the nasolacrimal system to rapidly spread from the ocular surface to the respiratory tract in the porcine model. In vivo and ex vivo, IAV could efficiently attach and replicate in conjunctiva epithelium, which has abundance of α‐2,6‐linked and α‐2,3‐linked sialic acid. After ocular inoculation, infectious virions swiftly migrate to the nasolacrimal duct of piglets and, via continual drainage, disseminate to the respiratory tract. Moreover, the detection of continual virus shedding as well as the successful isolation of virus from conjunctiva and respiratory tract tissue indicated the establishment of productive infection after the transocular route. This study presents evidence suggesting that IAVs could utilize the nasolacrimal system to swiftly spread to the respiratory tract following ocular exposure, which contributes to understanding the modes of transocular transmission of IAVs. Carbon neutrality by 2050 has become one of the most urgent challenges the world faces today. To address the issue, it is necessary to develop and promote new technologies related with CO2 recycling. Cyanobacteria are the only prokaryotes performing oxygenic photosynthesis, capable of fixing CO2 into biomass under sunlight and serving as one of the most important primary producers on earth. Notably, recent progress on synthetic biology has led to utilizing model cyanobacteria such as Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 and Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 as chassis for "light-driven autotrophic cell factories" to produce several dozens of biofuels and various fine chemicals directly from CO2. However, due to the slow growth rate and low biomass accumulation in the current chassis, the productivity for most products is still lower than the threshold necessary for large-scale commercial application, raising the importance of developing high-efficiency cyanobacterial chassis with fast growth and/or higher biomass accumulation capabilities. In this article, we critically reviewed recent progresses on identification, systems biology analysis, and engineering of fast-growing cyanobacterial chassis. Specifically, fast-growing cyanobacteria identified in recent years, such as S. elongatus UTEX 2973, S. elongatus PCC 11801, S. elongatus PCC 11802 and Synechococcus sp. PCC 11901 was comparatively analyzed. In addition, the progresses on their recent application in converting CO2 into chemicals, and genetic toolboxes developed for these new cyanobacterial chassis were discussed. Finally, the article provides insights into future challenges and perspectives on the synthetic biology application of cyanobacterial chassis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
