14. Wide-Area Subsidence Monitoring and Analysis Using Time-Series InSAR Technology: A Case Study of the Turpan Basin.

Abstract

Ground subsidence often occurs over a large area. Although traditional monitoring methods have high accuracy, they cannot perform wide-area ground deformation monitoring. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) technology utilizes phase information in SAR images to extract surface deformation information in a low-cost, large-scale, high-precision, and high-efficiency manner. With the increasing availability of SAR satellite data and the rapid development of InSAR technology, it provides the possibility for wide-area ground deformation monitoring using InSAR technology. Traditional time-series InSAR methods have cumbersome processing procedures, have large computational requirements, and rely heavily on manual intervention, resulting in relatively low efficiency. This study proposes a strategy for wide-area InSAR multi-scale deformation monitoring to address this issue. The strategy first rapidly acquires ground deformation information using Stacking technology, then identifies the main subsidence areas by setting deformation rate thresholds and visual interpretation, and finally employs advanced TS-InSAR technology to obtain detailed deformation time series for the main subsidence areas. The Turpan Basin in Xinjiang, China, was selected as the study area (7474.50 km2) to validate the proposed method. The results are as follows: (1) The basin is generally stable, but there is ground subsidence in the southern plain area, mainly affecting farmland. (2) From 2016 to 2019, the maximum subsidence rate in the farmland area was approximately 0.13 m/yr, with a maximum cumulative subsidence of about 0.25 m, affecting a total area of approximately 952.49 km2. The subsidence mainly occurred from late spring to mid-autumn, while lifting or subsidence mitigation occurred from late autumn to early spring. The study also analyzed the impacts of rainfall, geographical environment, and human activities on subsidence and found that multiple factors, including water resource reduction, overexploitation, geological characteristics, and the expansion of human activities, contributed to the subsidence problem in the Turpan Basin. Abstract

A novel hyaluronidase (BgHya1) from Yak Bos grunniens testis was isolated and shown to have comparatively high activity on sodium hyaluronate. However, surveys on BgHya1 are still limited. The enzyme was purified through gel filtration on Sephacryl S-100 and cation-exchange on SP Sepharose fast flow; the purity was confirmed by a reverse phase FPLC Shodex C4 column. The specific activity of the purified BgHya1 was 20.4 U/mg assayed by the colorimetric method against 0.85 U/mg for the crude enzyme, representing a 24-fold purification. It was a monomeric protein of 55 kDa estimated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Sephacryl S-200. It exhibited maximum activity in the presence of 0.15 M NaCl at 37 °C, pH 3.8, and a specificity to sodium hyaluronate higher than that of chondroitin-4-sulfate, chondroitin-6-sulfate, and dermatan. The K m value for BgHya1, using sodium hyaluronate as substrate, was 0.106 mg/mL. Activity of BgHya1 was inhibited mildly by Ca2+ and Fe2+, and significantly by Fe3+, Mg2+, EDTA, urea, heparin, and 0.5 M NaCl. It was not affected by Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+, ascorbic acid, PMSF, DTT, glutathione (reduced), or L-cysteine. BgHya1 was shown to be heat unstable in the range of 4–45 °C. In terms of storage stability, 92% of the activity was retained after four weeks at 4 °C, and 58% at room temperature. In addition, adding BSA (1.0 mg/mL) to the enzyme sample prior to freezing resulted in complete retention of enzyme activity. This work yielded a high purity hyaluronidase, the first one isolated from Bos grunniens by-product.

Abstract

Based on not only the basic data of total 9-phase Landsat8 OLI remote sensing images from 2013 to 2016 in Heishan District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, also the supplementary data of highresolution remote sensing images and elevation data in Heishan District, as well as phenology data in Northeast of China, the remote sensing images of the studied areas were classified by various methods and the classification results were evaluated accurately. The results show that the method of object-oriented classification obtains the best effect and highest precision on the information extraction of autumn grain crops. Its overall spatial distribution accuracy is about 95.2091%, and the Kappa coefficient is 0.9360. The method of object-oriented classification was applied to the dynamic monitoring of autumn crops in the researched areas in recent years, and then the analysis of the main autumn crops in there from 2013 to 2016 showed that the rice areas increased significantly in the past four years, while the corn areas have shrunk by nearly one-fifth.
