A Co-doped porous carbon was successfully fabricated by a facile carbonizing procedure using coal hydrogasification semi-coke (SC) as the carbon and cobalt nitrate as the magnetic precursors, respectively. The mass ratio of the precursors was changed to regulate the microwave absorption (MA) capabilities. The favorable MA capabilities are a result of a synergistic interaction be-tween the dielectric loss from the carbon framework, the magnetic loss from nano-sized Co particles, and multiple scattering from the residual pores. At a thickness of 4.0 mm, the Co/C composite showed the lowest reflection loss of −33.45 dB when the initial mass ratio of cobalt nitrate and SC was 1:1. The effective absorbing bandwidth (EAB) could achieve 3.5 GHz at 2 mm thickness. This work not only opens up a new avenue for the facile fabrication of dielectric and magnetic loss combinations and their structural design, but it also creates a new route for the high value-added exploitation of SC. Post-stroke cognitive impairment is one of the common complications of stroke, seriously affecting patients' ability to perform activities of daily living. Recent studies about microbiota-gut-brain axis have found that gut microbiota and their metabolites play an important role in the development of neurological diseases. Short-chain fatty acids, the main metabolites of gut microbiota, are key transmitters of gut-brain communication, which have a neuroprotective effect in stroke, yet the mechanism of action is not fully clear. This paper presents a review of the neuroprotective mechanism of short-chain fatty acids in stroke, and its relation with post-stroke cognitive impairment, providing evidence for studying the pathogenesis and treatment of stroke.

Rectangular cavity is an essentially geometric structure of aircraft target, like inlet duct. As deep rectangular cavity is one of the most important scattering sources of concealed aircraft and the important identifying characteristics of this kind of target, it has significant meaning and practical applications in the research of scattering center modeling. In this paper, to design a high-precision scattering center model, a scattering center model of electrically large deep rectangular cavity was studied, utilizing ray tracing to determine the location of the multiple reflections of equivalent scattering centers, using the data of full-wave numerical method to accurately estimate the amplitude parameters of the scattering centers. In this model, there set some physical properties and a direct relationship between its parameters and the geometric parameters of cavity for the actual usage of model easily. The validated results indicate that scattering center model can precisely simulate the wave of the radar cross section and the high resolution range profiles of the electrically large deep rectangular cavity targets. The roots of Codonopsis cordifolioidea (classified as campanulaceae cordifolioidea), locally known as Tsoong, have been used as a tonic food. The major components isolated from Tsoong have been demonstrated to present anti‑human immunodeficiency virus‑1 activities and cytotoxicity against various tumor cell lines. However, the possible effects of the novel compound isolated from Tsoong, cordifoliketones A, on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells, are still unknown. In the present study, cordifoliketones A extractions were prepared from Tsoong, and the possible effects on PDAC cell growth, apoptosis, migration and invasion in vitro and in vivo were exlored. The cytotoxicity assay, apoptosis assay, western blotting, migration and invasion assay, and a PDAC cell (AsPC‑1, BxPC‑3 and PANC‑1) xenograft mice model were employed. The results demonstrated that treatment with cordifoliketones A: i) inhibited proliferation and promoted apoptosis of PDAC cells; ii) significantly induced apoptosis and altered expression of apoptosis‑associated proteins in a dose‑dependent manner; iii) suppressed migration and invasion of PDAC cells in a dose‑dependent manner; and iv) restrained the growth of PDAC neoplasm in nude mice. Furthermore, cordifoliketones A demonstrated non‑cytotoxic activity in a panel of normal human cells, including hTERT‑HPNE, 293, hepatocyte HL‑7702 and HL‑1 cells. Therefore, these data indicated that cordifoliketones A may be a potential candidate compound for the prevention of PDAC cell proliferation and metastasis, presumably by induction apoptosis and inhibiting viability, invasion and migration of PDAC cells.
