BackgroundThe home environment is an important means of support in home-based care services for older people. A home environment that facilitates healthy aging can help older adults maximize their self-care abilities and integrate and utilize care resources. However, some home environments fail to meet the needs of older adults with disabilities. ObjectiveThis paper aimed to study the needs of older adults with disabilities with respect to adaptation to aging, and to analyze the associations of individual factors and dysfunction with those needs. MethodsA questionnaire survey was administered to 400 older adults with disabilities from 10 communities in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China. The survey was conducted from August 2018 to February 2019. ResultsA total of 370 participants completed the survey. The proportion of participants with mild dysfunction was the highest (128/370, 34.59%), followed by those with extremely mild (107/370, 28.92%), moderate (72/370, 19.46%), and severe (63/370, 17.03%) dysfunction. The care needs of older adults with extremely mild and mild dysfunction pertained primarily to resting, a supportive environment, and transformation of indoor activity spaces. The care needs of older adults with moderate dysfunction pertained mainly to resting and renovation of bathing and toilet spaces. Factors influencing the needs of older adults with disabilities were dysfunction (P=.007), age (P=.006), monthly income (P=.005), and living conditions (P=.04). ConclusionsThe needs of older adults with disabilities varied by the degree of dysfunction, and many factors influenced these needs in the community. These findings may provide a scientific basis for developing community-specific aging-related adaptation services for older adults with disabilities in the future.

Background Malnutrition is a common complication in patients with esophageal cancer, which has been validated by domestic and international studies to seriously impact the recovery of patients. While the number of patients receiving home enteral nutrition (HEN) is increasing, the effectiveness and safety of HEN for patients with esophageal cancer remains unclear. Objective To systematically evaluate the effectiveness and safety of HEN by meta-analysis. Methods RCTs on the HEN in patients with esophageal cancer were retrieved in PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CINAHL, Scopus, Wanfang Data, CNKI, VIP and CBM from inception to December 2021. Patients in the experimental group received HEN support〔both enteral tube feeding (ETF) and oral nutritional supplement (ONS) were both acceptable〕, while patients in the control group received conventional oral diet only. Two researchers independently screened the literature and extracted data. The RoB 2.0 recommended by the Cochrane Collaboration was used to evaluate the quality of the included studies, and the RevMan 5.4.1 software was used to perform the meta-analysis. Results A total of 14 articles were included, involving 1 040 patients with esophageal cancer. Background Long-term high level of mental tension induced by nursing work may be associated with increased blood pressure in nurses. The factors influencing hypertension may differ by sex, since there are sex-specific differences in the regulation of blood pressure in molecules, cells and tissues. So exploring influencing factors for hypertension in male and female nurses is significant for formulating targeted prevention and control strategies. Objective To examine the prevalence and influencing factors of hypertension among male and female nurses in Hebei Province, providing a basis for developing sex-based hypertension prevention and control measures for nurses. Methods A census survey method was used. The prevalence and influencing factors of hypertension were investigated among 128 009 nurses in all hospitals in 11 cities of Hebei Province from November 2016 to July 2018. The recognized factors influencing hypertension were matched between male and female nurses by propensity score matching. Based on the matched data, multivariate Logistic regression was used to explore the factors influencing hypertension among male and female nurses. Aim: This study analysed and summarized the correlation between various indicators of ICU nurses' personal lives, hospital work situation, social opinion, psychological assessment, and their intention to resign. Design: A descriptive quantitative study. Methods: This study was a multicentre questionnaire on factors influencing intensive care unit (ICU) nurses' intention to resign. This study was completed through the Critical Care E Institute (CCEI) and China Calm Therapy Research Group Academic Organization (CNCSG) by contacting ICU nurses in three hospitals in 34 provinces in China. The questionnaire was in the form of a cell phone WeChat scan code. The survey included 22 indicators, including basic information about nurses (marital and child status, personal income, etc.), hospital work (weekly working hours, night shift, hospital environment, etc.), and psychological symptoms. Results: A total of 1904 nurses were included in this study. Among them, 1060 (55.67%) had the intention to resign. In this study, among the 22 indicators involved, 16 factors, including hospital work hours, job title, satisfaction with current income, having children, and evaluation of the hospital, significantly impact nurses' intentions to resign (all p < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that six indicators influenced nurses' choice of resignation intention (all p < 0.05), including hospital work time, professional title, income satisfaction, hospital work pride, satisfaction of nurses with the compassion and care given to them by their hospitals, and career vision score. The ROC curve showed that all six indicators were <0.70, but the model receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve constructed for the indicators was 0.756. In China, increasing the income of ICU nurses, fostering pride in hospital work, reducing working hours, ensuring smooth promotion processes, and enhancing career prospects can all decrease their likelihood of choosing to resign. Absorbing practical nursing management and work experience from other countries will help decrease the intention to resign within this group. Aim: Smoking is harmful to human health. However, the relationship between smoking and blood pressure (BP) has not been consistent. This study aimed to analyse nurses' smoking behaviours and their relationship with BP. Methods: This cross‐sectional study recruited 128 009 nurses in 11 cities in China. They were surveyed with questionnaires including BP measurements. The main contents of the questionnaire included smoking status and other factors that might be associated with hypertension. Multiple linear regression analyses and binary logistic regression analyses were used to analyse the data. Results: The results showed there was a significant difference in the smoking rate among nurses with different characteristics (P < 0.05). For both male and female nurses, smoking was associated with increased diastolic BP and mean arterial pressure, but only with increased systolic BP of male nurses. The prevalence of hypertension among male and female nurses was not related to smoking. Conclusion: Despite a relatively low overall smoking rate, rates among some groups are high. Different cities, hospitals, and departments can combine local data and conditions to formulate targeted tobacco control measures to improve nurses' physical and mental health. Aim: This research aimed to shed light on the relationship between the sociodemographic characteristics of front‐line medical workers and their anxiety and depression, to provide the basis and reference for targeted mental health education and for relevant departments to formulate appropriate policies during the COVID‐19 outbreak. Methods: This study adopted a convenient sampling method and examined the psychological status of 150 front‐line medical workers from Zhejiang Province with questionnaire surveys using the Hamilton Anxiety and Depression Scale. Results: The participants had severe anxiety and depression; the top three items under the category of anxiety were genitourinary symptoms, behavior at interview, and respiratory symptoms, whereas the top three items under depression were feelings of guilt, weight loss, and retardation. Among all personal data, the following factors influenced anxiety, in decreasing order: degree of suspicion of being infected when showing associated symptoms, degree of fear of yourself and your family being infected, and the affiliated hospital (p <.05). As for depression, the factors were the degree of suspicion of being infected when showing associated symptoms and the degree of fear of yourself and your family being infected (p <.05). Conclusion: This study revealed that front‐line medical staff presented symptoms of anxiety and depression when dealing with the COVID‐19 outbreak and the factors influencing their psychological stress.
