This narrative review investigates the current implementation and future potential of Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) in medical education, specifically emphasizing its role in enhancing medical English proficiency. The article analyzes the effectiveness of PAL across various medical education contexts, including primary medical courses, doctor-patient communication, and standardized residency training. The findings indicate that PAL positively impacts student learning outcomes and promotes professional development, highlighting the necessity of its application in medical English instruction. However, implementing PAL faces several obstacles, such as limitations in student cognition and a singular interaction model. This review presents several application prospects, including scenario simulation and the integration of PAL with pedagogical methods such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Case-Based Learning (CBL), and Team-Based Learning (TBL). Ultimately, this review underscores the importance of PAL in medical English teaching and recommends future research directions to develop effective teaching models that optimize its implementation. The repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) through homologous recombination (HR) is vital for maintaining the stability and integrity of the genome. RNA binding proteins (RBPs) intricately regulate the DNA damage repair process, yet the precise molecular mechanisms underlying their function remain incompletely understood. In this study, we highlight the pivotal role of RPS15, a representative RBP, in homologous recombination repair. Specifically, we demonstrate that RPS15 promotes DNA end resection, a crucial step in homologous recombination. Notably, we identify an interaction between RPS15 and CtIP, a key factor in homologous recombination repair. This interaction is essential for CtIP recruitment to DSB sites, subsequent RPA coating, and RAD51 replacement, all critical steps in efficient homologous recombination repair and conferring resistance to genotoxic treatments. Functionally, suppressing RPS15 expression sensitizes cancer cells to X-ray radiation and enhances the therapeutic synergistic effect of PARP1 inhibitors in breast cancer cells. In summary, our findings reveal that RPS15 promotes DNA end resection to ensure effective homologous recombination repair, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target in cancer treatment. Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) are garnering substantial research interest in electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and portable electronics, primarily for the reason that the inexpensive cost, high theoretical specific capacity, and environmental sustainability of zinc metal anodes, which are an essential component to their design. Nonetheless, the progress of AZIBs is hindered by significant obstacles, such as the occurrence of anodic side reactions (SR) and the formation of zinc dendrites. Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based materials are being explored as promising alternatives owing to homogeneous porous structure and large specific surface areas. There has been a rare overview and discussion on strategies for protecting anodes using MOF-based materials. This review specifically aims to investigate cutting-edge strategies for the design of highly stable MOF-based anodes in AZIBs. Firstly, the mechanisms of dendrites and SR are summarized. Secondly, the recent advances in MOF-based anodic protection including those of pristine MOFs, MOF composites, and MOF derivatives are reviewed. Furthermore, the strategies involving MOF-based materials for zinc anode stabilization are presented, including the engineering of surface coatings, three-dimensional zinc structures, artificial solid electrolyte interfaces, separators, and electrolytes. Finally, the ongoing challenges and prospective directions for further enhancement of MOF-based anodic protection technologies in AZIBs are highlighted., (© 2024 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)
