1. Intrinsic Current Concentration of Buffer Layer Material for Cable Ablation Failure: Role of Random Fiber Networks

Abstract

In recent years, the buffer layer ablation failures of high voltage cables are frequently reported by the power systems. Previous studies have dominantly regarded the buffer layer as the continuous homogeneous medium, whereas neglects its microstructures. In this paper, the current distribution within the random fiber networks of buffer layer are investigated. Experiment results of our self-designed platform revealed an uneven current distribution in buffer layer at the moment of bearing current. This phenomenon is named as the intrinsic current concentration where the current density concentrates at certain sites inner the buffer layer. And the degree of current concentration will be suppressed by compressing the sample. Then, a 2D simulation model of the random fiber networks was constructed based on the Mikado model. The simulation results also presented an uneven current distribution in the networks whose every fiber can be viewed as a micro-resistor. Two types of dimensionless current concentration factors were defined to describe the degree of current concentration, finding their values decreasing with the rise of fiber density. Meanwhile, it is equivalent of compressing the buffer layer and increasing the fiber density of model. We believe that the intrinsic current concentration phenomenon is mainly related with the inhomogeneity of geometry structure of buffer layer. The ablation traces and fracture fibers observed by the X-ray micro-computed tomography test supported this point. In addition, the non-ideal surface of sample can also induce this phenomenon. The intrinsic current concentration can aggravate the degree of originally existed macroscopic current concentration in cables, thus causing the ablation failure. Abstract

In this work, an innovative method for controlling the current distribution of the radiating patch by adjusting the input phase is investigated to achieve both pattern and polarization reconfigurable characteristics for the multifunction. A compact and low-profile antenna with four fed ports is designed to implement the proposed method, which can operate linear, right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) with different beam directions in the operating band from 4.0 to 5.0 GHz. Even more, a four-by-four passive planar array is designed and fabricated based on this antenna element, which can scan the coverage of 70{\deg} with low gain fluctuation and low sidelobe with dual-polarization. Meanwhile, it can realize the wide-angle scanning capability up to 60{\deg} with low sidelobe with RHCP and LHCP. More important, the dual- and triple-beam with different directions can be obtained by the proposed array. Good agreement has been shown between measured and simulated results. Therefore, the proposed antenna is a good solution for wireless communication systems because of its simple-configuration, multifunction, and beamforming capability.

22. Experiments on the ultrasonic detection of buffer layer ablation defects in high-voltage cables

Abstract

The ablation fault of buffer layers in high-voltage cables is a frequent type of cable fault in recent years. However, current detection methods for ablation defects cannot meet the detection requirements of existing cables. In this paper, the ultrasonic detection method for the buffer layer ablation defects in high-voltage cables based on the surface roughness of aluminum sheath is studied for the first time. Firstly, simulated buffer layer ablation experiments under humid conditions are carried out, and the laser confocal microscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis are carried out on the ablated aluminum specimens. It is found that with the increase of ablation time, the surface roughness of aluminum specimens gradually increases, and the surface corrosion degree of aluminum specimens gradually deepens, corresponding to the aggravated ablation defects of buffer layers, which indicates that the surface roughness of aluminum specimens could be correlated with the ablation degree of buffer layers under the moisture conditions. Secondly, ultrasonic testing experiments are carried out on the ablated aluminum specimens, and the roughness of the corroded surfaces of aluminum specimens can be calculated from the amplitude ratio of adjacent ultrasonic echo signals. The calculated results show the same variation trend as the measured roughness in the experiment. The results in this study indicate that the ultrasonic tests could be used to detect the severity of buffer layer ablation defects, providing the research basis for the ultrasonic detection method of ablation defects in the buffer layer of high-voltage cables.

Abstract

The corpus cavernosum is the most important structure for penile erection, and its dysfunction causes many physiological and psychological problems. However, its cellular heterogeneity and signalling networks at the molecular level are poorly understood because of limited access to samples. Here, we profile 64,993 human cavernosal single-cell transcriptomes from three males with normal erection and five organic erectile dysfunction patients. Cell communication analysis reveals that cavernosal fibroblasts are central to the paracrine signalling network and regulate microenvironmental homeostasis. Combining with immunohistochemical staining, we reveal the cellular heterogeneity and describe a detailed spatial distribution map for each fibroblast, smooth muscle and endothelial subcluster in the corpus cavernosum. Furthermore, comparative analysis and related functional experiments identify candidate regulatory signalling pathways in the pathological process. Our study provides an insight into the human corpus cavernosum microenvironment and a reference for potential erectile dysfunction therapies.
