Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effect of Yuchang suppository on experimental ulcerative colitis rats and the effect of PPARγ/NF-KB signaling pathway. Methods: The UC rat model was replicated by 2.4.6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS)/ethanol method and randomly divided into normal control group, model group, high-dose group of Yuchang suppository, middle dose group , Low-dose group and sulfasalazine group, 8 rats in each group. After 14 days of treatment, the general condition of the rats was observed and the disease activity index was scored. The changes of serum TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 levels were detected by ELISA. The colonic mucosal injury index (CMDI) score and colon were observed by colon specimens. Histopathological changes; RT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of PPARγ and NF-KB genes and proteins in colon tissue. Results: Compared with the normal control group, the DAI and CMDI scores in the model group and the levels of serum TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, NF-κB p65 mRNA and protein in colon tissue were significantly increased, PPAR. - γ mRNA and protein expression levels were significantly reduced. The levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and the expression of NF-κB p65 mRNA and protein in colon tissue were lower than those in the model group, and the expression levels of PPARγ mRNA and protein were high. As global climate change worsens, trees will have difficulties adapting to abiotic pressures, particularly in the field, where environmental characteristics are difficult to control. A prospective commercial and ornamental tree species, Styrax tonkinensis, has its seed oil output and quality reduced as a result, which lowers the economic benefits. This necessitates growers to implement efficient strategies to increase the seeds of woody biofuel species’ tolerance to abiotic stress. Numerous studies have shown that ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), a new material, and BRs assist plants to increase their resilience to abiotic stress and subsequently adapt to it. However, there have not been many investigations into S. tonkinensis seed resistance. In this study, we examined the changes in antioxidant enzyme activities and transcriptomic results of S. tonkinensis seeds throughout the seed development period to investigate the effects of 24-epibrassinolide (EBL), one of the BRs, and ZnO NPs treatments alone or together on the stress resistance of S. tonkinensis seeds. On 70, 100, and 130 days after flowering (DAF), spraying EBL or ZnO NPs increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes (POD, SOD, and CAT) in S. tonkinensis seeds. Moreover, when the EBL and ZnO NPs were sprayed together, the activities of antioxidant enzymes were the strongest, which suggests that the positive effects of the two can be superimposed. On 70 and 100 DAF, the EBL and ZnO NPs treatments improved seed stress resistance, mostly through complex plant hormone crosstalk signaling, which includes IAA, JA, BR, and ABA signaling. Additionally, ABA played an essential role in hormone crosstalk, while, on 130 DAF, due to the physiological characteristics of seeds themselves in the late stage of maturity, the improvement in seed stress resistance by EBL and ZnO NPs was related to protein synthesis, especially late embryogenesis-abundant protein (LEA), and other nutrient storage in seeds. Spraying EBL and ZnO NPs during the seed growth of S. tonkinensis could significantly increase seed stress resistance. Our findings provide fresh perspectives on how cultural practices can increase abiotic stress tolerance in woody seedlings.

Rational utilization of biomass waste into usable energy is of great significance. In this work, a facile method was proposed to prepare porous carbon as supercapacitor electrode by using biomass waste-kapok flower as a precursor. The obtained porous carbon exhibited hierarchical pores rich in microporous and mesoporous, containing oxygen from kapok flowers. The optimal porous carbon ACF-4.5, which was achieved with a mass ratio of KOH to the precursor obtained from kapok flower was 4.5:1, showed a remarkable electrochemical performance with a capacitance as high as 286.8 F/g at 1 A/g current density. It was worth noting that the capacitance retention rate can still reach 97.4% after 5000 cycles, which indicated that the ACF-4.5 supercapacitor electrode has excellent cyclic stability. Therefore, a strategy that not only utilizes biomass waste, but also produces high-performance supercapacitor electrode in industry effectively was realized.

Currently, advanced glycation end product (RAGE) is receiving much attention in carcinogenesis research due to its involvement in cancer progression and metastasis. We therefore sought to examine the association of circulating soluble RAGE (sRAGE) with all types of cancer by a meta-analysis. The PubMed and EMBASE databases were searched before March 1, 2014. Data and study quality were assessed in duplicate. Effect estimates were expressed as weighted mean difference (WMD) and its 95 % confidence interval (CI). Altogether, nine eligible articles including 1,337 cancer patients and 1,839 controls were analyzed. The overall analysis indicated that circulating sRAGE was remarkably reduced by 222.07 pg/ml in cancer patients compared with controls (95 % CI: −373.77 to −70.37; P = 0.004), with heterogeneity and without publication bias. In subgroup analyses, this reduction was weakened yet still significant in prospective studies (WMD = −87.62; 95 % CI: −138.60 to −36.63; P = 0.001) with improved heterogeneity (I 2 = 56.5 %; P = 0.056). Restricting analyses to the large studies (total number of subjects ≥200) identified significant reduction of circulating sRAGE in cancer patients relative to controls (WMD = −231.34; 95 % CI: −450.10 to −12.58; P = 0.038). Further meta-regression analysis showed that smoking status explained some part of heterogeneity for the association of circulating sRAGE with cancer risk (regression coefficient: −67.02; P = 0.046). Our findings demonstrate a protective role of circulating sRAGE in the development of cancer, especially in patients without diabetes mellitus or with normal renal function.

Chloroquine (CQ) has been revealed to exhibit antitumor activity in several human tumors including lung cancer as mono‑ or add‑on therapy. The antitumor effect of CQ appears to depend on the tumor type, stage and genetic context. Few studies have focused on the mechanism concerning the antitumor effect of CQ monotherapy and the cause and effect relationship among autophagy, apoptosis and CQ in human lung A549 cells. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify the antitumor effect of CQ monotherapy and analyze the possible mechanism. In the present study, we demonstrated that CQ suppressed human A549 cell growth in a dose‑ and time‑dependent manner. CQ‑mediated growth inhibition in A549 cells was characterized by the targeting of the PI3K/AKT pathway, thus, inducing mitochondria‑mediated apoptosis at relatively higher concentrations by downregulating Bcl‑2 expression, increasing the expression level of Bax, decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential, releasing cytochrome c from the mitochondria into the cytosol, activating caspase‑3 and cleaving PARP. Collectively, these findings may offer a new rationale for using CQ as a lung cancer therapy drug in clinical practice.

To establish a method for simultaneous determination of nucleosides and nucleobases in natural, cultured and tissue culture Anoectochilus roxburghii by high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization/ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI/MS).The separation was performed on a Welch Ultimate XB-C18 column (250 mm x 4.6 mm,5 μm). 20 mmol/L ammonium acetate solution and methanol were adopted as the mobile phase with gradient elution. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min. The injection volume was 20 μL. The column temperature and UV wavelength were set at 30 degrees C and 260 nm, respectively.Cytosine, uracil, cytidine, uridine, hypoxanthine, adenine, inosine, guanosine,fl-thymidine and adenosine were identified in natural, cultured and tissue culture Anoectochilus roxburghii. The total content of nucleosides and nucleotides in Anoectochilus roxburghii were 1.6639, 1.8568 and 2.2013 mg/g,respectively.The contents of nucleosides and nucleobases in herb are affected by its growth pattern. The total content of nucleosides and nucleotides was tissue culture herbcultured herbnatural herb. This investigation would provide the theoretic basis for quality standards and applications of Anoectochilus roxburghii in clinical research.

Because of many advantages, radiation panel is a very promising air terminal device now. The paper analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the existed radiation plate, proposed new radiation panel structure, then made the CFD modeling and flow optimization analysis. This article put forward theoretical analysis and suggest for the research and design of the radiation condole system. This new radiation panel make refrigerant water directly contact with radiation , reduce the contact resistance and increase heat thermal significantly , in addition to simple processing technology reduce the initial investment. Flow is the main factors of heat flow. With increasing of flow, temperature adds more uniform, and increase rate reduced after achieve after turbulence flow. This study was conducted to investigate the free radical-scavenging activity and antioxidant activity of silk sericin hydrolysates (SSH). SSH were obtained by hydrolysis of silk sericin with alcalase, trypsin, neutrase, bromelin, papain and flavourzyme. Its ability to scavenge 2,2′-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonicacid) (ABTS) cation radicals and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals was determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The antioxidant activities of the SSH, including lipid peroxidation in linoleic acid system, reducing power and ferrous ion chelating ability, were evaluated. The results showed that different protease hydrolysates possessed different ability to quench the ABTS cation radicals and DPPH radicals. The stabilization problem for a class of nonlinear networked control systems (NCSs) is investigated in this paper. A Takagi–Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is employed to represent the nonlinear controlled plant in the NCSs. Based on parallel distributed compensation (PDC) technique, a novel model of the nonlinear NCSs is established firstly in consideration of both network-induced delay and packet losses in transmission. Then a stability condition of the nonlinear NCSs is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) by using the Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method and the delay input approach. Furthermore, the control design of the nonlinear NCSs is developed by means of LMIs. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

We meta-analytically summarized the associations of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism with ACE activity and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) to see whether ACE activity is causally associated with OSAS. Literature search and data abstraction were done in duplicate. Sixteen articles including 2060 OSAS patients and 1878 controls were summarized. To observe the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on nausea and vomiting (NV) induced by patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) with Tramadol.Sixty patients who were ready to receive scheduled operation for tumor in the head-neck region and post-operation PCIA, aged 39-65 years, with the physique grades I-II of ASA, were randomized into two groups, A and B, 30 in each group. The pre-operation medication, induction of analgesia and continuous anesthesia used in the two groups were the same. TEAS on bilateral Hegu (LI4) and Neiguan (PC6) points was intermittently applied to the patients in group A starting from 30 min before analgesia induction to 24 h after operation, and the incidence and score of nausea and vomiting, antiemetic used, visual analogue scores (VAS), and PCIA pressing times in 4 time segments (0-4, 4-8, 8-12 and 12-24 h after the operation was finished) were determined. The same management was applied to patients in Group B, with sham TEAS for control.The incidence and degree of NV, as well as the number of patients who needed remedial antiemetic in Group A were less than those in Group B. The VAS score and PCIA pressing time were lower in Group A than those in Group B in the corresponding time segments respectively.TEAS could prevent NV induced by PCIA with Tramadol.
