Enhanced silicate rock weathering (ERW) is an emerging strategy for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) from the atmosphere to mitigate anthropogenic climate change. ERW aims at promoting soil inorganic carbon sequestration by accelerating geochemical weathering processes. Theoretically, ERW may also impact soil organic carbon (SOC), the largest carbon pool in terrestrial ecosystems, but experimental evidence for this is largely lacking. Here, we conducted a 2‐year field experiment in tropical rubber plantations in the southeast of China to evaluate the effects of wollastonite powder additions (0, 0.25, and 0.5 kg m−2) on both soil organic and inorganic carbon at 0–10 cm depth. We found that ERW significantly increased the concentration of SOC and HCO3−, but the increases in SOC were four and eight times higher than that of HCO3− with low‐ and high‐level wollastonite applications. ERW had positive effects on the accrual of organic carbon in mineral‐associated organic matter (MAOM) and macroaggregate fractions, but not on particulate organic matter. Path analysis suggested that ERW increased MAOM mainly by increasing the release of Ca, Si, and Fe, and to a lesser extent by stimulating root growth and microbial‐derived carbon inputs. Our study indicates that ERW with wollastonite can promote SOC sequestration in stable MOAM in surface soils through both the soil mineral carbon pump and microbial carbon pump. These effects may have been larger than the inorganic CDR during our experiment. We argue it is essential to account for the responses of SOC in the assessments of CDR by ERW. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Stretchable electrodes are highly demanded in various wearable and flexible electronic devices, whereas the efficient fabrication approach is still a challenge. In this work, an efficient shrinking method to fabricate carbon nanotube (CNT)‐based stretchable electrodes is proposed. The electrode is a layer of anisotropic CNT wrinkling film coated on a latex balloon substrate (CNT@latex), whose resistivity remains stable after 25 000 stretching cycles of 0 to 50% tensile strain, and can survive up to 500% tensile train. The highly conductive electrode can be used as the current collector of a stretchable Zinc‐ion battery, maintaining an output voltage of 1.3 V during the stretching process of 0 to 100%. The applications of the electrode in flexible triboelectric nanogenerators and Joule heating devices are also demonstrated, further indicating their good prospects in the field of stretchable electronic devices. Graphene‐based aerogels (GAs) have been extensively studied for pressure sensing applications due to their high compressibility and conductivity. But the usually‐adopted high‐temperature treatment generally damages the flexibility and stability. It is still challenging to prepare piezoresistive sensors with a wide linear range, and reliable cyclic performance. Herein, we demonstrate an excellent wide‐range piezoresistive sensor based on an aerogel of methylcellulose reinforced reduced graphene oxide (MC/GA). A steaming reduction at 120 °C is proposed to properly control the intermolecular forces and the chemical bonding between MC and GA. The finite element analysis indicates that wrinkled lamellae with hierarchical pores are beneficial to minimize the stress concentrations. As a result of the combined architecture of reinforced, oriented, and wrinkled lamellae with hierarchical pores, the MC/GA has a superior linearity in a much wide range (0–17 kPa, R2 > 0.997), a high sensitivity (9.38 kPa−1), a short response time (<40 ms) and a reliable cyclic performance (>99% retention). As demonstrations, the MC/GA sensor can monitor vital signs of the upper lip, throat or wrist, and can sense the large motion of the fingers, elbows, and feet. Although controlled wrinkling is demonstrated to be a powerful tool for micro/nanofabrication, large‐area fabrication of microarchitecture arrays on curved substrates by surface wrinkling still remains challenging. Inspired by the cortical folding, a facile method for transforming graphene oxide (GO) patterns into multiscale microarchitecture arrays on curved substrates is developed. Mass production of hierarchical GO papillae arrays can be realized by homogeneous compression of patterned GO/rubber bilayers. The reduced GO (rGO) papillae arrays show superhydrophobicity with tunable adhesion to water, enabling good performance in microdroplet manipulation. Besides, the papillae are capable of regulating the formation of microcracks in the rGO films upon stretching. Similar to the mechanical sensing system of spiders, a crack‐based strain sensor with high gauge factor (≈81), good linearity (0–15%), and fast responding speed (<40 ms) is demonstrated. In addition, the strain sensor is capable of detecting and recognizing multiple deformation modes including stretching, poking, and touching. This work reveals novel cortical folding morphology and provides a simple fabrication method for multifunctional hierarchical microarchitectures on curved substrates, which may find applications in biomimetic microstructures, smart wetting surfaces, and wearable electronics. Background and Aims: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CM) is an increasing public health burden. This study aimed to evaluate the association of waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), waist circumference (WC), waist divided by height0.5 (WHT.5R) and body mass index (BMI) with the risk of CM.Methods and Results: We used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A total of 10,521 participants aged 45 years and over were recruited, including 8807 individuals with 0 cardiometabolic diseases at baseline (stage I) and 1714 individuals with 1 cardiometabolic disease at baseline (stage II). CM was defined as self-reporting of two or more of the following conditions: stroke, diabetes and heart disease. Logistic regression was conducted to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The net reclassification index (NRI) and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) were used to evaluate the incremental predictive value beyond conventional factors. In stage I, an increased risk of CM was observed among participants with WHtR ≥0.5 (OR: 1.76, 95% CI: 1.05-2.97), WC ≥ 90 cm (men) + WC ≥ 80 cm (women) (OR: 2.06, 95% CI: 1.29-3.27), WHT.5R ≥ 6.54 cm0.5 (OR: 1.81, 95% CI: 1.16-2.83) or BMI ≥24 kg/m2 (OR: 1.48, 95% CI: 0.98-2.24). Furthermore, the NRI and IDI of WHtR, WC and WHT.5R were all higher than those of BMI. In stage II, the adjusted ORs (95% CIs) of WHtR, WC, WHT.5R and BMI were 2.04 (1.24-3.35), 1.89 (1.29-2.77), 1.86 (1.24-2.78) and 1.47 (1.06-2.04), respectively. In addition, WC exhibited the highest NRI and IDI.Conclusion: WHtR, WC, WHT.5R and BMI are independent predictors of CM in the middle-aged and older Chinese population. The Late Cretaceous sediments on the margin of the Arabia Plate contain information of tectonics and eustatic fluctuation of the Neo‐Tethys Ocean. The sedimentary association in the north of Saudi Arabia, combined with that from Jordan, Israel, and Egypt, revealed three fourth‐order sedimentary sequences that occurred in the Late Cretaceous and Palaeogene. The evolution of the sequences indicates that a most extensive transgression occurred in the south of Neo‐Tethys Ocean during that time, which deposited phosphorite and carbonate overlying the Devonian sandstone directly. The occurrence of thin and interbedded lithological layers implies vigorous fluctuation of the sea‐level during the transgression. We argue that the transgression is the results of tectonic activities and eustatic fluctuation, but may be closely controlled by the regional subduction and Neo‐Tethys collision.
