Search

A search for Majoron-emitting modes of the neutrinoless double beta decay of Xe136 is performed with the full EXO-200 dataset. This dataset consists of a total Xe136 exposure of 234.1 kg·yr, and includes data with detector upgrades that have improved the energy threshold relative to previous searches. A lower limit of T1/2Xe136>4.3×1024 yr at 90% C.L. on the half-life of the spectral index n=1 Majoron decay was obtained, a factor of 3.6 more stringent than the previous limit from EXO-200 and a factor of 1.6 more stringent than the previous best limit from KamLAND-Zen. This limit corresponds to a constraint on the Majoron-neutrino coupling constant of |geeM|

The mission of HL-2A is to explore the key physical topics relevant to ITER and to the advanced tokamak operation (e.g. the operation of future HL-2M), such as the access of H-mode, energetic particle physics, edge-localized mode (ELM) mitigation/suppression and disruption mitigation. Since the 2016 Fusion Energy Conference, the HL-2A team has focused on the investigations on the following areas: (i) pedestal dynamics and L-H transition, (ii) techniques of ELM control, (iii) turbulence and transport, (iv) energetic particle physics. The HL-2A results demonstrated that the increase of mean shear flow plays a key role in triggering L-I and I-H transitions, while the change of flow is mainly induced by the ion pressure gradient. Both mitigation and suppression of ELMs were realized by laser blow-off seeded impurity (Al, Fe, W). The 30% Ne mixture supersonic molecular beam injection seeding also robustly induced ELM mitigation. The ELMs were mitigated by low-hybrid current drive. The stabilization of m/n = 1/1 ion fishbone activities by electron cyclotron resonance heating was found on the HL-2A. A new m/n = 2/1 ion fishbone activity was observed recently, and the modelling indicated that passing fast ions dominantly contribute to the driving of 2/1 fishbone. The non-linear coupling between the toroidal Alfven eigenmode and tearing mode (TM) led to the generation of a high frequency mode with the toroidal mode number n = 0. The turbulence was modulated by TM when the island width exceeds a threshold and the modulation is localized merely in the inner area of the islands. Meanwhile, turbulence radial spread took place across the island region.

Neutrons produced by cosmic ray muons are an important background forunderground experiments studying neutrino oscillations, neutrinoless doublebeta decay, dark matter, and other rare-event signals. A measurement of theneutron yield in the three different experimental halls of the Daya Bay ReactorNeutrino Experiment at varying depth is reported. The neutron yield in DayaBay's liquid scintillator is measured to be $Y_n=(10.26\pm 0.86)\times10^{-5}$, $(10.22\pm 0.87)\times 10^{-5}$, and $(17.03\pm 1.22)\times10^{-5}~\mu^{-1}~$g$^{-1}~$cm$^2$ at depths of 250, 265, and 860meters-water-equivalent. These results are compared to other measurements andthe simulated neutron yield in Fluka and Geant4. A global fit including theDaya Bay measurements yields a power law coefficient of $0.77 \pm 0.03$ for thedependence of the neutron yield on muon energy.

The Daya Bay Experiment consists of eight identically designed detectors located in three underground experimental halls named as EH1, EH2, EH3, with 250, 265 and 860 meters of water equivalent vertical overburden, respectively. Cosmic muon events have been recorded over a two-year period. The underground muon rate is observed to be positively correlated with the effective atmospheric temperature and to follow a seasonal modulation pattern. The correlation coefficient α, describing how a variation in the muon rate relates to a variation in the effective atmospheric temperature, is found to be αEH1 = 0.362±0.031, αEH2 = 0.433±0.038 and αEH3 = 0.641±0.057 for each experimental hall.

The disappearance of reactor $\bar{\nu}_e$ observed by the Daya Bayexperiment is examined in the framework of a model in which the neutrino isdescribed by a wave packet with a relative intrinsic momentum dispersion$\sigma_\text{rel}$. Three pairs of nuclear reactors and eight antineutrinodetectors, each with good energy resolution, distributed among threeexperimental halls, supply a high-statistics sample of $\bar{\nu}_e$ acquiredat nine different baselines. This provides a unique platform to test theeffects which arise from the wave packet treatment of neutrino oscillation. Themodified survival probability formula was used to fit Daya Bay data, providingthe first experimental limits: $2.38 \cdot 10^{-17} < \sigma_{\rm rel} < 0.23$.Treating the dimensions of the reactor cores and detectors as constraints, thelimits are improved: $10^{-14} \lesssim \sigma_{\rm rel} < 0.23$, and an upperlimit of $\sigma_{\rm rel}

The Daya Bay experiment has observed correlations between reactor core fuel evolution and changes in the reactor antineutrino flux and energy spectrum. Four antineutrino detectors in two experimental halls were used to identify 2.2 million inverse beta decays (IBDs) over 1230 days spanning multiple fuel cycles for each of six 2.9 GW_{th} reactor cores at the Daya Bay and Ling Ao nuclear power plants. Using detector data spanning effective ^{239}Pu fission fractions F_{239} from 0.25 to 0.35, Daya Bay measures an average IBD yield σ[over ¯]_{f} of (5.90±0.13)×10^{-43}  cm^{2}/fission and a fuel-dependent variation in the IBD yield, dσ_{f}/dF_{239}, of (-1.86±0.18)×10^{-43}  cm^{2}/fission. This observation rejects the hypothesis of a constant antineutrino flux as a function of the ^{239}Pu fission fraction at 10 standard deviations. The variation in IBD yield is found to be energy dependent, rejecting the hypothesis of a constant antineutrino energy spectrum at 5.1 standard deviations. While measurements of the evolution in the IBD spectrum show general agreement with predictions from recent reactor models, the measured evolution in total IBD yield disagrees with recent predictions at 3.1σ. This discrepancy indicates that an overall deficit in the measured flux with respect to predictions does not result from equal fractional deficits from the primary fission isotopes ^{235}U, ^{239}Pu, ^{238}U, and ^{241}Pu. Based on measured IBD yield variations, yields of (6.17±0.17) and (4.27±0.26)×10^{-43}  cm^{2}/fission have been determined for the two dominant fission parent isotopes ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu. A 7.8% discrepancy between the observed and predicted ^{235}U yields suggests that this isotope may be the primary contributor to the reactor antineutrino anomaly.

A measurement of electron antineutrino oscillation by the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment is described in detail. Six 2.9-GWth nuclear power reactors of the Daya Bay and Ling Ao nuclear power facilities served as intense sources of νe's. Comparison of the νe rate and energy spectrum measured by antineutrino detectors far from the nuclear reactors (∼1500-1950 m) relative to detectors near the reactors (∼350-600 m) allowed a precise measurement of νe disappearance. More than 2.5 million νe inverse beta-decay interactions were observed, based on the combination of 217 days of operation of six antineutrino detectors (December, 2011-July, 2012) with a subsequent 1013 days using the complete configuration of eight detectors (October, 2012-July, 2015). The νe rate observed at the far detectors relative to the near detectors showed a significant deficit, R=0.949±0.002(stat)±0.002(syst). The energy dependence of νe disappearance showed the distinct variation predicted by neutrino oscillation. Analysis using an approximation for the three-flavor oscillation probability yielded the flavor-mixing angle sin22θ13=0.0841±0.0027(stat)±0.0019(syst) and the effective neutrino mass-squared difference of |Δmee2|=(2.50±0.06(stat)±0.06(syst))×10-3 eV2. Analysis using the exact three-flavor probability found Δm322=(2.45±0.06(stat)±0.06(syst))×10-3 eV2 assuming the normal neutrino mass hierarchy and Δm322=(-2.56±0.06(stat)±0.06(syst))×10-3 eV2 for the inverted hierarchy.

A new measurement of the reactor antineutrino flux and energy spectrum by the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment is reported. The antineutrinos were generated by six 2.9 GWth nuclear reactors and detected by eight antineutrino detectors deployed in two near (560 m and 600 m flux-weighted baselines) and one far (1640 m flux-weighted baseline) underground experimental halls. With 621 days of data, more than 1.2 million inverse beta decay (IBD) candidates were detected. The IBD yield in the eight detectors was measured, and the ratio of measured to predicted flux was found to be 0.946±0.020 (0.992±0.021) for the Huber+Mueller (ILL+Vogel) model. A 2.9σ deviation was found in the measured IBD positron energy spectrum compared to the predictions. In particular, an excess of events in the region of 4-6 MeV was found in the measured spectrum, with a local significance of 4.4σ. A reactor antineutrino spectrum weighted by the IBD cross section is extracted for model-independent predictions.

This Letter reports an improved search for light sterile neutrino mixing in the electron antineutrino disappearance channel with the full configuration of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. With an additional 404 days of data collected in eight antineutrino detectors, this search benefits from 3.6 times the statistics available to the previous publication, as well as from improvements in energy calibration and background reduction. A relative comparison of the rate and energy spectrum of reactor antineutrinos in the three experimental halls yields no evidence of sterile neutrino mixing in the 2×10^{-4}≲|Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.3  eV^{2} mass range. The resulting limits on sin^{2}2θ_{14} are improved by approx imately a factor of 2 over previous results and constitute the most stringent constraints to date in the |Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.2  eV^{2} region.

This article reports an improved independent measurement of neutrino mixing angle θ13 at the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. Electron antineutrinos were identified by inverse β-decays with the emitted neutron captured by hydrogen, yielding a data set with principally distinct uncertainties from that with neutrons captured by gadolinium. With the final two of eight antineutrino detectors installed, this study used 621 days of data including the previously reported 217-day data set with six detectors. The dominant statistical uncertainty was reduced by 49%. Intensive studies of the cosmogenic muon-induced Li9 and fast neutron backgrounds and the neutron-capture energy selection efficiency, resulted in a reduction of the systematic uncertainty by 26%. The deficit in the detected number of antineutrinos at the far detectors relative to the expected number based on the near detectors yielded sin22θ13=0.071±0.011 in the three-neutrino-oscillation framework. The combination of this result with the gadolinium-capture result is also reported.

This Letter reports a measurement of the flux and energy spectrum of electron antineutrinos from six 2.9 GWth nuclear reactors with six detectors deployed in two near (effective baselines 512 and 561 m) and one far (1579 m) underground experimental halls in the Daya Bay experiment. Using 217 days of data, 296 721 and 41 589 inverse β decay (IBD) candidates were detected in the near and far halls, respectively. The measured IBD yield is (1.55±0.04) ×10(-18)  cm(2) GW(-1) day(-1) or (5.92±0.14) ×10(-43)  cm(2) fission(-1). This flux measurement is consistent with previous short-baseline reactor antineutrino experiments and is 0.946±0.022 (0.991±0.023) relative to the flux predicted with the Huber-Mueller (ILL-Vogel) fissile antineutrino model. The measured IBD positron energy spectrum deviates from both spectral predictions by more than 2σ over the full energy range with a local significance of up to ∼4σ between 4-6 MeV. A reactor antineutrino spectrum of IBD reactions is extracted from the measured positron energy spectrum for model-independent predictions.

We report a new measurement of electron antineutrino disappearance using the fully constructed Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. The final two of eight antineutrino detectors were installed in the summer of 2012. Including the 404 days of data collected from October 2012 to November 2013 resulted in a total exposure of 6.9×10^{5} GW_{th}  ton days, a 3.6 times increase over our previous results. Improvements in energy calibration limited variations between detectors to 0.2%. Removal of six ^{241}Am-^{13}C radioactive calibration sources reduced the background by a factor of 2 for the detectors in the experimental hall furthest from the reactors. Direct prediction of the antineutrino signal in the far detectors based on the measurements in the near detectors explicitly minimized the dependence of the measurement on models of reactor antineutrino emission. The uncertainties in our estimates of sin^{2}2θ_{13} and |Δm_{ee}^{2}| were halved as a result of these improvements. An analysis of the relative antineutrino rates and energy spectra between detectors gave sin^{2}2θ_{13}=0.084±0.005 and |Δm_{ee}^{2}|=(2.42±0.11)×10^{-3}  eV^{2} in the three-neutrino framework.

The Daya Bay experiment consists of functionally identical antineutrino detectors immersed in pools of ultrapure water in three well-separated underground experimental halls near two nuclear reactor complexes. These pools serve both as shields against natural, low-energy radiation, and as water Cherenkov detectors that efficiently detect cosmic muons using arrays of photomultiplier tubes. Each pool is covered by a plane of resistive plate chambers as an additional means of detecting muons. Design, construction, operation, and performance of these muon detectors are described.

A measurement of the energy dependence of antineutrino disappearance at the Daya Bay reactor neutrino experiment is reported. Electron antineutrinos (ν¯(e)) from six 2.9  GW(th) reactors were detected with six detectors deployed in two near (effective baselines 512 and 561 m) and one far (1579 m) underground experimental halls. Using 217 days of data, 41 589 (203 809 and 92 912) antineutrino candidates were detected in the far hall (near halls). An improved measurement of the oscillation amplitude sin(2)2θ(13)=0.090(-0.009)(+0.008) and the first direct measurement of the ν¯(e) mass-squared difference |Δm(ee)2|=(2.59(-0.20)(+0.19))×10(-3)  eV2 is obtained using the observed ν¯(e) rates and energy spectra in a three-neutrino framework. This value of |Δm(ee)2| is consistent with |Δm(μμ)2| measured by muon neutrino disappearance, supporting the three-flavor oscillation model.

The Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment was designed to achieve a sensitivity on the value of sin22θ13 to better than 0.01 at 90% CL. The experiment consists of eight antineutrino detectors installed underground at different baselines from six nuclear reactors. With data collected with six antineutrino detectors for 55 days, Daya Bay announced the discovery of a non-zero value for sin22θ13 with a significance of 5.2 standard deviations in March 2012. The most recent analysis with 139 days of data acquired in a six-detector configuration yields sin22θ13=0.089±0.010(stat.)±0.005(syst.), which is the most precise measurement of sin22θ13 to date. © 2013.

The Daya Bay reactor antineutrino experiment is designed to make a precision measurement of the neutrino mixing angle θ13, and recently made the definitive discovery of its non-zero value. It utilizes a set of eight, functionally identical antineutrino detectors to measure the reactor flux and spectrum at baselines of ∼ 300-2000 m from the Daya Bay and Ling Ao Nuclear Power Plants. The Daya Bay antineutrino detectors were built in an above-ground facility and deployed side-by-side at three underground experimental sites near and far from the nuclear reactors. This configuration allows the experiment to make a precision measurement of reactor antineutrino disappearance over km-long baselines and reduces relative systematic uncertainties between detectors and nuclear reactors. For the first time supersonic molecular beam injection (SMBI) and cluster jet injection (CJI) were applied to mitigate edge-localized modes (ELMs) in HL-2A successfully. The ELM frequency increased by a factor of 2-3 and the heat flux on the divertor target plates decreased by 50% on average after SMBI or CJI. Energetic particle induced modes were observed in different frequency ranges with high-power electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH). The high frequency (200-350 kHz) of the modes with a relatively small amplitude was close to the gap frequency of the toroidicity-induced Alfvén eigenmode. The coexistent multi-mode magnetic structures in the high-temperature and low-collision plasma could affect the plasma transport dramatically. Long-lived saturated ideal magnetohydrodynamic instabilities during strong neutral beam injection heating could be suppressed by high-power ECRH. The absolute rate of nonlinear energy transfer between turbulence and zonal flows was measured and the secondary mode competition between low-frequency (LF) zonal flows (ZFs) and geodesic acoustic modes (GAMs) was identified, which demonstrated that ZFs played an important role in the L-H transition. The spontaneously generated E × B shear flow was identified to be responsible for the generation of a large-scale coherent structure (LSCS), which provided unambiguous experimental evidence for the LSCS generation mechanism. New meso-scale electric potential fluctuations (MSEFs) at frequency f ∼ 10.5 kHz with two components of n = 0 and m/n = 6/2 were also identified in the edge plasmas for the first time. The MSEFs coexisted and interacted with magnetic islands of m/n = 6/2, turbulence and LF ZFs. © 2013 IAEA, Vienna.

We report an improved measurement of the neutrino mixing angle θ13 from the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment. We exclude a zero value for sin22θ13 with a significance of 7.7 standard deviations. Electron antineutrinos from six reactors of 2.9 GW th were detected in six antineutrino detectors deployed in two near (flux-weighted baselines of 470 m and 576 m) and one far (1648 m) underground experimental halls. Using 139 days of data, 28909 (205308) electron antineutrino candidates were detected at the far hall (near halls). The ratio of the observed to the expected number of antineutrinos assuming no oscillations at the far hall is 0.944±0.007(stat.)±0.003(syst.). Several animal studies showed pathological changes of demyelination, axon loss and neuron apoptosis in rats with chronic spinal cord compression. However, there is a limited understanding of the neurological change in the spinal cord after surgical decompression. The aim of this study was to validate the neurorestoratology of myelopathic lesions in the spinal cord in a rat model. Materials and methods: A total of 16 adult Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: sham control (group 1); CSM model with 4-week chronic compression (group 2), 2 weeks (group 3) and 4 weeks (group 4) after surgical decompression of CSM model. The compression and decompression were verified by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test. Neurological function was evaluated by Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale, ladder rung walking test and somatosensory-evoked potentials (SEPs). Neuropathological change was evaluated by histological examinations. Results: MRI confirmed the compression of the cervical spinal cord as well as the reshaping of cord morphology after decompression. After decompression, significant changes of neurological function were observed in BBB scores (p < 0.01, F = 10.52), ladder rung walking test (p < 0.05, F = 14.21) and latencies (p < 0.05, F = 5.76) and amplitudes (p < 0.05, F = 3.8) of SEP. Neuronal degeneration was obvious in the ventral horn with gradual restoration. After decompression, the motor neuron number in the ventral horn did not show significant changes (p > 0.05). However, increasing trend of myelin area and staining intensity were observed in all columns of the white matter (p < 0.05) after decompression, especially in the compressed lateral column. Conclusion: The established rat model is able to simulate histopathological characteristics of cervical myelopathy in human beings. The neuropathological change demonstrated that neurorestoratology in the myelopathic spinal cord would probably attribute to axonal remyelination of the white matter, but there would be an incapability of neuronal regeneration. Lung function, radiology, and clinical data were retrieved.Results: Among all patients, 57% (117/206) were hospitalized due to acute COPD aggravation, 47% (96/206) had COPD grade III or IV, 95% (195/206), showed diffusion dysfunction in pulmonary function examination, 90% (185/206) had a history of smoking, and 26% (54/206) were treated with inhaled corticosteroids for COPD treatment. Ninety-eight patients suffered from squamous carcinoma, 73 from adenocarcinoma, and 35 from small-cell carcinoma. Clinical staging was I in 36 patients, II in 47 patients, III in 78 patients, and IV in 45 patients. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms accounting for this action remain elusive, which has impeded the prevention and cure of this side effect. Sulforaphane (SFP) is a naturally occurring isothiocyanate that has huge health benefits for humans. In this study, by using osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells as a model, we demonstrate the protective effects of SFP against dexamethasone (Dex)-induced apoptosis and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms. The results show that SFP could effectively inhibit the Dex-induced growth inhibition and release of lactate dehydrogenase in MC3T3-E1 cells. Treatment with Dex induced caspase-dependent apoptosis in MC3T3-E1 cells, as evidenced by an increase in the Sub-G1 phase, chromatin condensation, and deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation, which were significantly suppressed by coincubation with SFP. Mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway contributed importantly to Dex-induced apoptosis, as revealed by the activation of caspase-3/-9 and subsequent cleavage of poly adenosine diphosphate ribose polymerase, which was also effectively blocked by SFP. Moreover, treatments of Dex strongly induced overproduction of reactive oxygen species and inhibited the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and the downstream effectors HO1 and NQO1. However, cotreatment with SFP effectively reversed this action of Dex. Furthermore, silencing of Nrf2 by small interfering ribonucleic acid significantly blocked the cytoprotective effects of SFP against Dex-induced apoptosis, which suggest the important role of Nrf2 signaling pathway and cell apoptosis induced by Dex. Taken together, this study provides a novel strategy for molecular intervention against Dex-induced osteoporosis using phytochemicals. The benefits of physical activity (PA) on health are well documented. However, inactivity among university students is prevalent. This study examined whether emotional intelligence (EI) was one of the possible underlying psychological mechanisms responsible for behavior change that may be associated with the low levels of effectiveness of PA interventions. The purposes of this study were: (1) to compare EI, health-related physical fitness (HRPF), and health-related quality of life (HRQL) for the different levels of PA in Taiwan college students; (2) to explore the predictability of PA levels, HRQL, and HRPF towards EI. A total of 599 Taiwan college students were assessed utilizing HRPF measurement, and two questionnaires including the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-I) and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (MOS SF-36). College participants who reported a recommended level of PA scored significantly higher than their insufficient and inactive counterparts in EI, and some measures of HRQL and HRPF. The variables of 'physical activity', 'mental health', 'gender', 'social function', and 'flexibility' were found to be the best linear combination to significantly (p < 0.05) predict the EI of Taiwan college students. It was concluded that participation in PA might be an effective way to improve the physical, psychological, as well as emotional health of college students. Thus, the importance of increasing exercise participation at the college level should be reinforced and implemented. Background: Solid lung lesions are common in clinical practice, and percutaneous thermal ablation has been shown to be an effective treatment for these lesions. While computed tomography (CT)-guided microwave ablation (MWA) therapy is frequently used for adult solid lesions, it is rarely considered for pediatric cases., Case Presentation: A case of an 8-year-old child with adrenal neuroblastoma and a left upper lung mass. Background and Purpose: To investigate the impact of radiotherapy (RT) on the risk of secondary pelvic neoplasms (SPN) and the survival outcomes of patients following a diagnosis of female patients with genital neoplasm(FGN)., Materials and Methods: Utilizing SEER databases, this study involved 102,895 patients from nine oncology centers, spanning 1990 to 2015. We employed the Fine-Gray competing risks regression methodology to chart the trajectory of SPN development and used the Kaplan-Meier method to calculate the 10-year overall survival rates., Results: This study included 25,774 patients in the RT group and 77,121 in the non-radiotherapy (NRT) group. The cumulative incidence rate of SPN was 5.10 % in the RT group and 3.42 % in the NRT group. The RT group showed a significantly higher incidence of bladder cancer (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 1.75; 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.43-2.14; P < 0.05), colon cancer (adjusted HR: 1.32; 95 % CI: 1.16-1.49; P < 0.05), and rectal cancer (adjusted HR: 1.34; 95 % CI: 1.10-1.65; P < 0.05) compared to the NRT group. After propensity score matching, patients in the RT group who developed bladder cancer had significantly reduced 10-year survival rates compared to patients with primary pelvic tumors (P = 0.01)., Conclusion: RT is identified as an independent risk factor for the development of SPN in patients with FGN. Background: There is a growing body of evidence suggests a strong link between female genital prolapse (FGP) and mental health. However, the causal relationship between FGP and psychological disorders remains unclear., Objectives: Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis has been applied to investigate the potential impact of FGP on the risk of seven common psychiatric disorders., Methods: The two-sample MR analysis was conducted using genetic instruments such as Inverse variance weighted (IVW), MR Egger, weighted median, simple mode, and weighted mode from the genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data in European populations. In addition, the Cochrane's Q test, MR-Egger intercept test, MR pleiotropy residual sum and outliers (MR-PRESSO) test and leave-one-out analysis were employed to assess the sensitivity and heterogeneity., Results: The MR results revealed that FGP exhibited a potential marginal protective effect on bipolar disorder (BD) (odds ratio(OR) = 0.92, 95%confidence interval (95%CI: 0.85-0.99, P = 0.03) as well as schizophrenia(OR = 0.91, 95%CI:0.85-0.98, P = 0.01). Nevertheless, there was no causal correlation between genetically predicted FGP and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) (OR = 0.98, 95%CI:0.80-1.20, P = 0.84),depression (broad) (OR = 1.00, 95%CI:0.99-1.01, P = 0.76), major depression(OR = 0.98, 95%CI:0.94-1.03, P = 0.43), anxiety disorders (OR = 1.00, 95%CI:0.94-1.07,P = 0.97) and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) (OR = 1.18, 95%CI:0.88-1.57,P = 0.27),respectively. In addition, BD was found to have a potential significant influence on FGP in the inverse MR analysis (OR = 0.83, 95%CI:0.72-0.97, P = 0.02). Five phenylpropanoid dimers chrysanthephenyls A-E, with the 1-O-1'-type (1) and 1-O-2'-type (2-5) ether bond linking modes, were isolated from the aerial parts of Chrysanthemum indicum. Among them, chrysanthephenyls D and E were two pairs of enantiomers, and chrysanthephenyl E was further resolved into its enantiomers (+)-chrysanthephenyl E and (-)-chrysanthephenyl E via chiral-phase HPLC. Their structures were characterized on the basic analysis of the spectroscopic techniques (IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR), and their absolute configurations were determined by DP4+ NMR analysis and ECD calculation method. The antioxidant activity of chrysanthephenyls A-E was determined by measuring their free radical scavenging effects using the trolox equivalent antioxidant activity (TEAC) assay, and chrysanthephenyls D and E showed 17 and 15 times better activity respectively than that of the positive control trolox. Background: The association between the frailty index (FI) and the risk of chronic lung diseases (CLDs) remains unexplored, warranting further research., Methods and Materials: This study investigated the relationship between FI and CLD risk using data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) and English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA), comprising a combined sample of 9642 individuals. Propensity score weighting was used to ensure similar distribution of covariates across FI groups. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used to analyze differences in FI scores between groups with and without CLD. Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression analysis were employed to explore the association between frailty status and CLD incidence, with sensitivity analyses conducted for validation., Results: Higher FI scores were significantly associated with increased CLD risk in both cohorts (p < .05). Kaplan-Meier survival and Cox regression analyses indicated that frail individuals have a significantly elevated risk of CLD compared to robust individuals, particularly in certain subgroups (e.g., female) within the CHARLS cohort (p < .05). The ELSA cohort yielded similar results (p < .05), affirming FI as a strong predictor of CLD. Additional risk factors identified included age, smoking, and unmarried status (p < .05). Frail individuals consistently exhibited the highest risk in both cohorts (CHARLS HR = 1.54, p = .003; ELSA HR = 6.64, p < .001). Objective: Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is one of the most common pathways of metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Preoperative assessment of occult lymph node metastasis (OLNM) in NSCLC patients is beneficial for selecting appropriate treatment plans and improving patient prognosis., Method: A total of 370 NSCLC patients were included in the study. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to screen potential risk factors for OLNM in preoperative NSCLC patients. And establish a nomogram for OLNM in NSCLC patients before surgery. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the established nomogram., Result: Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses suggested that multiple tumors, ERBB2 missense mutation, CA125 levels, CA153 levels, tumor site, tumor length, and serum ferritin are potential risk factors for OLNM in NSCLC patients. The constructed nomogram was evaluated, and the consistency index (C-index) and area under the ROC curve of the model were both 0.846. The calibration curve showed that the predicted values of the model had a high degree of fit with the actual observed values, and DCA suggested that the above indicators had good utility., Conclusion: The personalized scoring prediction model constructed based on multiple tumors, ERBB2 miss mutation, CA125 levels, CA153 levels, tumor site, tumor length, and serum ferritin can screen NSCLC patients who may have OLNM., (© 2024. Background: Giant salamander protein peptide is a peptide with rich functional properties. Giant salamander protein peptide KGEYNK (KK-6) is a peptide with both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of KK-6 are still unclear. When we studied the functional mechanism of KK-6, we found that the antioxidant property of KK-6 has a synergistic and promoting effect on anti-inflammatory properties., Results: KK-6 enhances cellular resistance to LPS via the MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway, leading to increased levels of inflammatory factors: interleukin-1β (764.81 ng mL -1 ), interleukin-6 (1.06 ng mL -1 ) and tumor necrosis factor-α (4440.45 ng mL -1 ). KK-6 demonstrates potent antioxidant properties by activating the Nrf2 signaling pathway, resulting in elevated levels of antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase: 0.03 μg mL -1 ; superoxide dismutase: 0.589 μg mL -1 ) and a reduction in the concentration of the oxidative product malondialdehyde (967.05 μg mL -1 )., Conclusion: Our findings highlight the great potential of KK-6, a peptide extracted from giant salamander protein, as a remedy for intestinal inflammation. Through its dual role as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, KK-6 offers a promising avenue for alleviating inflammation-related damage and oxidative stress. The electrical control of perpendicular magnetization without the need for external magnetic fields holds significant potential for next-generation spintronic devices. In this Letter, we have identified a 3m-symmetry dependent field-free switching phenomenon in (111)-oriented Tm&#95;{3}Fe&#95;{5}O&#95;{12} single-crystal films capped with a platinum (Pt) layer. We demonstrate that this distinctive property arises due to the spontaneous breaking of mirror symmetry in magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) for (111)-oriented magnetic films with a cubic structure, which results in a local out-of-plane MCA effective field with a 3m-symmetry dependence on the azimuth angle when the magnetization lies in the (111) plane. The observed field-free switching, facilitated by this MCA effective field, is validated by numerical simulations based both on macro-spin model and on micromagnetic theory. Our findings not only underscore the instrumental role of intrinsic MCA in enabling field-free magnetization switching but also enrich the fundamental understanding of the underlying switching dynamics.

Introduction: Pelvic organ prolapse is a common condition in middle-aged and older women. Laparoscopic pelvic floor surgery is frequently researched as a treatment for this issue. However, the effectiveness of this procedure has only been the subject of a few studies., Methods: To quantitatively evaluate and display the relevant literature from the Web of Science database, we set the publication period of the literature from 1996 to 2022 and used VOSviewer and CiteSpace for visual analysis., Results: Laparoscopic pelvic floor surgery research has increased year-on-year, with 1003 publications identified from 63 countries and published in 210 journals. In the global ranking of studies, the United States was the leader (n = 306; 30.5 %), with the most published authors being Campagna, Giuseppe (n = 17) and Scambia, Giovanni (n = 17). The International urogynecology journal included the most significant articles (n = 173; 17.2 %). Integrin beta 4 (ITGB4) is a vital factor for numerous cancers. However, no reports regarding ITGB4 in small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) have been found in the existing literature. This study systematically investigated the expression and clinical value of ITGB4 in SCLC using multi-center and large-sample (n = 963) data. The ITGB4 expression levels between SCLC and control tissues were compared using standardized mean difference and Wilcoxon rank-sum test. The clinical significance of the gene in SCLC was observed using Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier curves. ITGB4 is overexpressed in multiple cancers and represents significant value in distinguishing among cancer samples (AUC = 0.91) and predicting the prognoses (p < 0.05) of patients with different cancers. In contrast, decreased ITGB4 mRNA expression was determined in SCLC (SMD < 0), and this finding was further confirmed at protein levels using in-house specimens (p < 0.05). This decrease in expression may be attributed to the regulatory role of estrogen receptor 1. ITGB4 may participate in the progression of SCLC by affecting several signaling pathways (e.g., tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway) and a series of immune cells (e.g., dendritic cells) (p < 0.05). The gene may serve as a potential marker for predicting the disease status (AUC = 0.97) and prognoses (p < 0.05) of patients with SCLC.
