4. Phase and amplitude asymmetry in the quasi-biennial oscillation of solar Halpha flare activity

Abstract

Quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) of solar magnetic activities is intrinsic to dynamo mechanism, but still far from fully understood. In this work, the phase and amplitude asymmetry of solar QBO of Halpha flare activity in the northern and southern hemispheres is studied by the ensemble empirical mode decomposition, the cross-correlation analysis, and the wavelet transform technique. The following results are found: (1) solar QBO of Halpha flare index in the two hemispheres has a complicated phase relationship, but does not show any systematic regularity; (2) the solar cycle mode of solar Halpha flare index in the northern hemisphere generally leads that in the southern one by 9 months for the time interval from 1966 to 2014. The possible origin of these results is discussed.

Abstract

Pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) can be used to study the Solar-system ephemeris (SSE), the errors of which can lead to correlated timing residuals and significantly contribute to the PTA noise budget. Most Solar-system studies with PTAs assume the dominance of the term from the shift of the Solar-system barycentre (SSB). However, it is unclear to which extent this approximation can be valid, since the perturbations on the planetary orbits may become important as data precision keeps increasing. To better understand the effects of SSE uncertainties on pulsar timing, we develop the LINIMOSS dynamical model of the Solar system, based on the SSE of Guangyu Li. Using the same input parameters as DE435, the calculated planetary positions by LINIMOSS are compatible with DE435 at centimetre level over a 20-year timespan, which is sufficiently precise for pulsar-timing applications. We utilize LINIMOSS to investigate the effects of SSE errors on pulsar timing in a fully dynamical way, by perturbing one SSE parameter per trial and examining the induced timing residuals. For the outer planets, the timing residuals are dominated by the SSB shift, as assumed in previous work. For the inner planets, the variations in the orbit of the Earth are more prominent, making previously adopted assumptions insufficient. The power spectra of the timing residuals have complex structures, which may introduce false signals in the search of gravitational waves. 31. Evaluation of the efficacy of aparatinib and carrilizumab combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to analyze the efficacy of aparatinib and carrilizumab combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 150 patients with primary HCC admitted to our hospital from March 1, 2019, to March 1, 2022 was chosen and randomized as the control and treatment group. The control group went through TACE treatment, and the treatment group experienced apatinib + karilizumab + TACE treatment. The near and long-term efficacy of the two groups were compared. The total survival time (OS), time to progression (TTP), and hospital costs were compared between the two groups. Fasting venous blood was collected before and one month after treatment in the two groups, and liver and kidney functions were tested using automatic biochemical analyzer. The levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ were detected by flow cytometry, and CD4+/CD8+ was calculated. The levels of cysteinyl aspartate specific protease-8 (Caspase-8), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and alpha fetoprotein (AFP) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The patients’ conditions were closely observed and the adverse reaction rates of diarrhea, hand foot syndrome, bone marrow suppression, proteinuria, fever and pain were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The disease control rate (DCR) of short-term treatment in the treatment group was 97.33%, which was much higher than 88.00% in the control group. The survival ratios of the treatment group in September and December were 65.33% and 42.67% respectively, which were also much higher than 48.00% and 20.00% in the control group (p < 0.05). The TTP and OS of patients in the treatment group were significantly longer than those in the control group (p < 0.05), and the hospital expenses were significantly higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The levels of liver function indicators such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and total bilirubin (TBIL) were largely decreased in both groups after treatment, and more significant difference was detected in the treatment group (p < 0.05). Renal function between the two groups had no significant difference after treatment (p > 0.05). After treatment, the levels AFP and VEGF were strongly decreased and the level of Caspase-8 was markedly increased in both groups, and the treatment group had lower levels of AFP and VEGF and higher level of Caspase-8 than the control group (p < 0.05). The CD3+ and CD4+/CD8+ levels in two groups were dramatically elevated after treatment, and the treatment group had much higher CD3+ and CD4+/CD8+ levels than the control group (p < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the rates of adverse reactions such as diarrhea, hand-foot syndrome, bone marrow suppression, proteinuria, fever, and pain between the two groups (p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The combination of apatinib and carrilizumab with TACE had better nearand long-term efficacy in the treatment of primary HCC by effectively inhibiting tumor vascular regeneration, inducing tumor cell apoptosis, and improving patients’ liver function and immune function with higher safety, which could be widely used in clinical practice. 36. Effect of Aging Treatment on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Fe-Mn-Al-C Low Density Steel

Abstract

Fe-Mn-Al-C steel has excellent weight reduction potential. In this study, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Fe-25Mn-11Al-1.0C steel after solution treatment at 1050 °C and aging at 450~650 °C are studied. The results show that with the increase of aging temperature, the strength increases first and then decreases. The plasticity and strength show a trade-off relationship. With the increase of the aging temperature, the plasticity first decreases and then increases. The above-mentioned changes in mechanical properties are closely related to the changes in the morphology and distribution of κ-carbides during the aging process. In general, the precipitation of κ-carbides is beneficial to obtain higher strength, but has a detrimental effect on plasticity.

Abstract

The low-cycle fatigue behavior of Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu-0.5CeO2 composite solder alloy was studied. The results show that the fatigue life exponent and material ductility coefficient of the composite solder alloy are dependent on both temperature and frequency. A modified Coffin-Manson model considering the influence of frequency and temperature was put forward, and the relationship between temperature and the frequency exponent, low-cycle fatigue life exponent, and material ductility coefficient was established.
