The study sought to establish a sensitive and specific on-site loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) for Brucella heated using a warmer pad. LAMP primers specific to the conserved BvrR gene were designed, and the LAMP reaction was optimized. The heating characteristics of the warmer pad were investigated. The detection validity (specificity, sensitivity) of clinical samples by warmer-pad LAMP (WP-LAMP) was compared with that of qPCR. The WP-LAMP method displayed high specificity and sensitivity for five Brucella gene copies. The detection of 104 clinical samples was 97.1% concordant with quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The results showed the success of the WP-LAMP for on-site detection. The method requires no special equipment and is conducive to the prevention and control of brucellosis.

TRIzol is used for the extraction of RNA, DNA and proteins from tissues or cells. Here, we present a simple picking method to extract DNA from tissues using TRIzol. Spectrophotometric analysis showed that the 260/280 and 260/230 nm optical density ratio of the picking method's DNA is ideal and better than that obtained by the classic TRIzol method. Gel electrophoresis showed that there was no RNA contamination, and the DNA had not degraded. DNA extracted by the picking method had the same performance in restriction enzyme digestion and quantitative PCR as that obtained by the traditional method. Viral DNA in the infected tissue was also obtained. This modified method facilitates various molecular biology assays.

Multiferroic materials have important research significance in the fields of magnetic random-access memory, ferroelectric random-access memory, resistive random-access memory, and neuromorphic computing devices due to their excellent and diverse physical properties. In this work, a solution of Bi2FeMnO6 was prepared using a solution-based method, and an Au/Bi2FeMnO6/TiO2 heterostructure device was fabricated on a Si substrate. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy data indicate that the Bi2FeMnO6 films have hexagonal R3c symmetry structures. The Bi2FeMnO6 film exhibits ferroelectricity with a fine remanent polarization. In addition, the Bi2FeMnO6-based devices have excellent switching ratios of 6.37 × 105. A larger switching ratio can provide a multi-resistance state for the device, which is beneficial for the simulation of synapses. Hence, it effectively emulates excitatory postsynaptic currents, paired-pulse facilitation, and long-term plasticity of synapses and achieves recognition accuracy of 95% in neuromorphic computing. The corrosion behavior of low-carbon steel was investigated in a simulated hot and humid industrial-marine atmosphere by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDS), mass loss, and a wet/dry alternate immersion corrosion test using a 0.1 mol·L-1 NaCl+0.01 mol·L-1 NaHSO3 solution. The results indicate that the corrosion processes of the experimental steels agree well with the d=Atn power function, with different steels having different values of A and n. The corrosion products are mainly in the amorphous phase and contain a small amount of Fe3O4, α-FeOOH, β-FeOOH, and γ-FeOOH crystals. It can be found that the rust layers have two parts-the body of the rust layer and a loose interface band. The Fe and O content gradients in the rust layer, from inner to outer, change very little. It can be concluded that the long-term interaction of Cl-, SO2 and H2O will lead to the deterioration of the inner structure. However, the addition of elements with high stability or corrosion resistance can improve the stability and density of the rust layer, and thereby enhance the corrosion resistance of the steels.

In this paper, we studied the synergistic effect of sulfur dioxide and chloride on the corrosion of weathering steel containing 3.55 wt% Ni. The weight loss and the rusts formed on weathering steel in atmosphere containing chloride, and a mixture of sulfur dioxide and chloride were studied by wet/dry cyclic corrosion tests. The results showed that in a chloride containing atmosphere, the rust presented a bi-layer structure, with a loose outer layer with chloride clustered and a dense inner layer containing goethite. Due to the synergistic effect of sulfur dioxide and chloride, the sample corrosion was accelerated, which changed the rust structure and phase distribution. Goethite formed in the outer rust layer with a shell-like morphology, which limited the volume changes causing crack formation. Chloride passed through the cracks to corrode the substrate and akaganeite formed in the inner rust layer, which eliminated the cation selectivity.

A new acridone alkaloid, reticarcidone A (1), decorated with an oxygenated isopentenyl group between C-1 and C-2, was isolated from the leaves of Citrus reticulata Blanco, together with nine known acridone alkaloids (2–10) and fifteen flavones compounds (11–25). The structure of those compounds were confirmed by analysis of comprehensive 1D and 2D NMR, and MS data. Reticarcidone A (1) was the first pyrano[2,3-a]acridone isolated from the genus Citrus. Some of these compounds showed moderated cytotoxicity against the five human tumor cell lines MCF-7, SMMC-7721, HL-60, A549 and SW480. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
