27. Estimation of Soil Property Content With Vis–NIR Spectra by Multitask Deep Learning Based on Attention Mechanism and Loss-Weight Balancing.

Abstract

Currently, deep-learning methods have been successfully applied to soil property content estimation from soil spectra due to their powerful feature extraction capability. In practical production, it is necessary to estimate the contents of multiple soil properties simultaneously. The accuracy of such estimation heavily depends on the ability of the algorithm to balance multiple estimation tasks. In this letter, a multitask learning network combining the attention mechanism and loss-weight balancing approach based on feature correlation is proposed. First, a parameter-sharing module of a three-layer convolutional neural network (CNN) is constructed. Second, an independent channel importance recalculation module is constructed for each estimation task, which consists of an efficient channel attention (ECA) module. Finally, the features extracted from these two modules are concatenated, and a two-layer CNN is constructed to further extract features for estimating each soil component. Moreover, an improved loss-weight uncertainty technique based on the correlation between soil spectra and property contents is proposed to reconcile the learning effects of multiple estimation tasks. The experimental results on two soil datasets, Land Use/Land Cover Area Frame Survey (LUCAS) 2009 and Africa Soil Information Service (AfSIS), show that this method provides competitive accuracy compared with several state-of-art methods. Abstract

Both the academy and industry believe that Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) would be achievable in one decade since modern vehicle and communication technologies advanced apace. Vehicular Communication System (VCS) introduces information technology to the ITS and aims to improve road safety and traffic efficiency. In recent year, security and privacy schemes in VCS are becoming important. However, recovery mechanisms to eliminate the negative effect of security and privacy attacks are still an important topic for research. Therefore, the certificate revocation scheme is considered as a feasible technique to prevent the system from potential attacks. The major challenge of the certificate revocation scheme is to achieve low-cost operation since the communication resources must be capable of carrying various applications apart from the security and privacy purposes. In this paper, we propose an efficient certificate revocation scheme in VCS. The Blockchain concept is introduced to simplify the network structure and distributed maintenance of the Certificate Revocation List (CRL). The proposed scheme embeds part of the certificate revocation functions within the security and privacy applications, aiming to reduce the communication overhead and shorten the processing time cost. Extensive simulations and analysis show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed scheme, in which the Blockchain structure costs fewer network resources and gives a more economic solution to against further cybercrime attacks.

Abstract

Background Endoprosthetic replacement has become the mainstream method of reconstruction after tumor resection around the knee for decades, but there is a lack of comprehensive review evaluating the implant outcomes. We performed a systematic review to analyze the implant survival and complication profiles of distal femoral replacement (DFR) and proximal tibial replacement (PTR) in adults, and to evaluate the effects of different fixation methods and hinge mechanisms. Methods A systematic review of 40 studies with 4748 DFR cases and 1713 PTR cases was performed after searching the PubMed and EMBASE databases. Results of the implant longevity, complications, and other relevant data were extracted, recategorized, and analyzed. An additional review of 227 cases of Compress DFR from 6 studies was also performed. Results The mean 5-, 10-, 15-, and 20-year implant survival rates of DFR were 78.3%, 70.1%, 61.6%, and 38.3%, slightly higher than those of PTR (75%, 60%, 55.3%, and 25.1%). Aseptic loosening (8.8%) and infection (8.5%) were the most devastating complications in DFR, while in PTR it was infection (16.8%). Cemented or cementless fixation did not significantly affect implant survival or aseptic loosening rate. Rotating-hinge mechanism might improve long-term implant survival and reduce bushing wear, but not necessarily prevented aseptic loosening. The series Kotz modular femur and tibia replacement system/Howmedica modular replacement system/global modular replacement system was one of the most durable implants. The Compress DFR showed no superiority in implant survival and complication profiles over other brands of endoprostheses. Conclusion Short-term to mid-term implant survival of adult tumor endoprostheses around the knee is acceptable but long-term outcome remains unsatisfactory. Efforts should be made in reducing loosening and infection.
