We present an update of the grid of detailed atmosphere models and homogeneous synthetic spectra for hot, high-gravity subdwarf stars. Be stars are found to rotate close to their critical rotation and therefore they are considered as an important laboratory of study for stellar rotation. In this context, we obtain the projected rotational velocity of a sample of classical Be Southern stars in the BeSOS database via Fourier Transform in an automated way for several absorption lines at different epochs. A Gaussian profile is fitted to eight observed photospheric HeI lines in order to select automatically the spectral signal given by areas under the curve of 95.45%, 98.75% and 99.83% from the profile to obtain $v \sin i$ via Fourier Transform technique. The values obtained are in global agreement with the literature. Analysing only one line is not enough to set the $v \sin i$ value, depending on the line the value in most cases are underestimated with respect to $\lambda$4471. When gravity darkening effects are including, apparent values increases by $\sim10$%. The resolution of the instrument PUCHEROS used for BeSOS spectra ($R \sim 17\,000$) constrain a theoretical lower bound possible at $v \sin i \sim 100$ km s$^{-1}$. The procedure has limitations using a linear limb-darkening function with $\varepsilon = 0.6$ for classical Be stars rotating close to the break-up velocity without gravity-darkening corrections, which can't be negligible. Previous works measure $v \ sin i$ values using just one spectral line and here we demonstrate that with more lines the results can varies. Estimates of interstellar extinction are essential in a broad range of astronomical research. In the last decades, several maps and models of the large scale interstellar extinction in the Galaxy have been published. However, these maps and models have been developed in different programming languages, with different user interfaces and input/output formats, which makes using and comparing results from these maps and models difficult. To address this issue, we have developed a tool called GALExtin (\url{http://www.galextin.org}) - that estimates interstellar extinction based on both 3D models/maps and 2D maps available. The user only needs to provide a list with coordinates (and distance) and to choose a model/map. GALExtin will then provide an output list with extinction estimates. It can be implemented in any other portal or model that requires interstellar extinction estimates. A study on the photosphere and disc of the Be star $\beta$ Psc is presented. We recover almost 40 years of high-resolution spectroscopic observations and additional data gathered from the BeSS database. We evaluate the photospheric parameters from the SED and fittings of state-of-the-art non-LTE model atmospheres to observed helium, carbon, silicon and magnesium line profiles. Our models include the stellar geometric deformation as well as the co-latitude dependence of temperature and gravity, aiming to derive the effects of rotation on the stellar parameters. We estimate the circumstellar disc parameters from the fitting of models assuming different disc properties, namely its radius and gas density profile. The disc inclination angle $i$ is constrained from the fittings of He I 4471 \r{A}, Mg II 4481 \r{A}, C II 4267 \r{A}, and Si II 4128, 4132 \r{A} lines with gravity darkened models. Our findings, based on model fittings, suggest that during the last 40 years the disc radius changed within the interval $5.5 \le R_d \le 7.8$ $R_*$, the disc base gas density within $5 \times 10^{-13} \le \rho \le 1 \times 10^{-12} g cm^{-3}$, while the radial power-law density index $m$ assumed values between 2.0 and 2.3. In this work we present a grid of LTE and non-LTE synthetic spectra of hot DA white dwarfs (WDs). In addition to its usefulness for the determination of fundamental stellar parameters of isolated WDs and in binaries, this grid will be of interest for the construction of theoretical libraries for stellar studies from integrated light. The spectral grid covers both a wide temperature and gravity range, with 17,000 K <= T_eff <= 100,000 K and 7.0 <= log(g) <= 9.5. The stellar models are built for pure hydrogen and the spectra cover a wavelength range from 900 A to 2.5 microns. Additionally, we derive synthetic HST/ACS, HST/WFC3, Bessel UBVRI and SDSS magnitudes. The grid was also used to model integrated spectral energy distributions of simple stellar populations and our modeling suggests that DAs might be detectable in ultraviolet bands for populations older than ~8 Gyr., Comment: to be published in The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series

We perform a detailed elemental abundance study of the early-type B star HD 28248 and estimate its orbital path in the Galaxy. From the comparison of spectroscopic observations performed at the European Southern Observatory at La Silla in 2001/Oct/07 with non-LTE synthetic spectra using a new wrapper for the simultaneous fitting of several lines of a given atomic species, the abundances of He, C, N, O, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Ar and Fe were determined for the first time. The radial velocity of HD 28248 has been also estimated from the positions of centroids of nine neutral helium lines and Mg ii 4481 A, allowing to calculate its right-handed Galactic space-velocity components U, V and W and estimate its orbital path in the Galaxy for the first time. Our chemical analysis depicted an outstanding enrichment of several atomic species, particularly [Fe/H] = +0.25 dex and [O/Fe] = +0.32 dex. The kinematic parameters show that its orbit is confined to the galactic disk with a scale height of 400 pc and the star has moved about 4 kpc from its birthplace to the current position. The elemental abundances do not follow the predicted [Fe/H] and [O/Fe] gradients currently established for the Galaxy.
