It innervates the skin over the external ear, the angle of the mandible and the parotid gland. It communicates with the ansa cervicalis. Great auricular neuralgia is rarely diagnosed in clinical practice and can be refractory. We present a new approach using ultrasound-guided nerve blocks.Case: We present a case of a 41-year-old female with paroxysmal ear pain accompanied by dysautonomia, tingling in the tongue, dysphagia, dysarthria and abdominal symptoms. No significant findings were found on cervical and brain imaging. The patient responded partially to a great auricular nerve block. A combined approach using this block with facet block of C2 and C3 induced a more pronounced and prolonged benefit.Conclusion: Great auricular neuralgia is not often encountered in practice and can be accompanied by symptoms originating from the ansa cervicalis network. Abstract

The numerous processes (superficial and deep) occurring on margins, their origins, consequences, interactions and quantifications are only very partially described and understood. The identification of the relative role of factors is sometimes completely contradictory between authors. Here, we showed the results of a long-term multidecadal and multidisciplinary study (using geophysical, geological, stratigraphic, paleontological, geomorphologic, geochemical, microbiological and numerical models) in the Western Mediterranean Sea that acts as a natural laboratory at many different scales. We showed how sediments efficiently recorded at the same time: variations of glacio-eustatic sea-level changes, variations of sediments yield and sources, and also enabled quantifying vertical movements and geodynamic worldwide events but also detailed regional mass transport, turbidites and contourites deposits. They are also an archive of paleoclimatic, palaeoceanographic and diagenetic processes.

Abstract

National audience; L'augmentation de l'implication des nouvelles technologies dans le pilotage de l'élevage (élevage de précision) implique que les futurs acteurs de la filière devront avoir des compétences en science des données. La science des données et l'utilisation du logiciel R, bien qu'enseignées en école d'agronomie, rebutent certains étudiants, y compris ceux intéressés par l'élevage de précision. Apprendre en jouant permet de lever certains de ces obstacles. C'est pourquoi, nous avons développé deux escapes games sérieux et numériques (EGSN) sous le logiciel R via le package learnr [1]. Ce travail présente la démarche de conception, les séquences pédagogiques des EGSN, les résultats des premiers tests, et les avantages et limites de l'utilisation de R pour faciliter l'apprentissage. Ces EGSN immergent les étudiants dans les séquences d'apprentissage, via un tutoriel interactif ludique afin d'aborder différentes notions zootechniques et de science des données. Chaque EGSN contient une introduction, une période de jeu et une période de débriefing entre les enseignants et les étudiants pour ancrer les connaissances. L'évaluation du jeu lors des premiers tests montre un fort investissement et une forte adhésion des étudiants à ce mode d'apprentissage. La prochaine étape concernera le développement d'une méthode d'évaluation pour vérifier la validation des acquis.

Abstract

Liveweight (LW) is a key and conventional indicator for monitoring and assessing overall animal performance and welfare, representing the progress along different physiological stages, while providing close indication of individual physical and health status. Measuring LW in practice is still, however, quite rare and infrequent under commercial sheep farming conditions, mainly because sessions are time-consuming, stressful either for the operator and the animals. A Walk-over-Weighing (WoW) system, already evaluated with other breeds under different conditions, was tested in this experiment lasting 14 weeks (i.e. 3 for acclimation and adaptation and 11 for data collection). We validated its use for routine and frequent monitoring the growth rate in post-weaned Merinos d'Arles ewe lambs, reared under Mediterranean grazing conditions. Similarly to previous work, the necessity for an initial adaptation period of the animals as well as for an essential data cleaning procedure of the raw database automatically collected by the WoW, were corroborated. Adaptation of naive ewe lambs enabled the required voluntary passages across the weigh platform and a high volume of individual and daily data after 2-3 weeks. Close monitoring of individual growth was then possible after performing sound data cleanings. A strong concordance of WoW LW data with the gold standard (a standard static scale) LW reference data was demonstrated. At the individual level, even with the lowest number of LW values collected with WoW, it was possible to monitor variations in LW at daily intervals. The establishment of an early warning system to help farmer decision making could therefore be possible. Our results show interesting perspectives for more precise and frequent monitoring of LW in grazing sheep without human intervention, compared to what is currently carried out on commercial farms.

Abstract

The Messinian Salt Giant in the Provençal Basin represents a good example to study salt tectonics: salt deposition occurred throughout the basin well after basin opening, with a tectonic context stable since ∼16 Ma, in a closed system. Also, the youth of salt tectonics has led to less mature structures and an evolutionary history that is easier to decipher than in older salt-bearing margins. We conducted an analysis of the chronology of salt deformation, from its deposition to the present-day, thanks to the basin-wide correlation of the Late Miocene and Pliocene-Pleistocene stratigraphic markers. The large seismic dataset provided detailed analysis of the causes and timing of salt deformation at a regional level. The salt tectonics started relatively early, during the Messinian Upper Unit (UU) deposition (phase 1) in the deepest part of the basin. From the Pliocene to the present-day, salt movement is divided into two more main phases (phases 2 and 3), the first of small intensity, occurred during the Pliocene and the second, more intense, during the Pleistocene. The geometric relationship between salt tectonics and crustal nature domains has revealed, regardless of the timing deformation phases, a more rapid and intense salt deformation above the proto-oceanic crust domain than in the continental or transitional crust domain. This observation, remaining unexplained, emphasizes the role of the influence of crustal nature, associated thermal regime and fluid circulation system on salt tectonics.

L’analyse stratégique de la gestion de l’environnement (ASGE), développée par (Mermet 1992) se met au service d’acteurs qui ont une intention sur cette gestion, appelés les « acteurs d’environnement » (AE). Ceux-ci doivent influer sur les décisions et comportements d’autres acteurs pour atteindre leurs objectifs. Nous avons émis la proposition, encore peu étudiée, selon laquelle des stratégies d’alliance avec des acteurs économiques peuvent conforter l’action de ces acteurs d’environnement (Marsat 2008). En effet certains secteurs d’activité économique valorisent des aménités naturelles, au point que celles-ci constituent des ressources essentielles pour eux. Le tourisme et les loisirs en milieu rural constituent le secteur économique retenu pour cette étude. Le tourisme est une activité de service, pour laquelle les aménités sont une ressource, et plus précisément un « bien support » au sens de la théorie des services. Notre hypothèse est donc que des acteurs du tourisme (AT) intègrent des objectifs de bonne gestion des aménités. Il s’agit de savoir s'ils le font spontanément, s'ils peuvent répondre à des sollicitations d'acteurs d'environnement, et au final comment peuvent se construire des stratégies d'alliance entre acteurs de ces deux types.
