The article presents the author's experience as an oncology clinical nurse specialist. Having founded the oncology product line in the smaller community hospital, she was devastated by the philosophic change demonstrated by the system administrators and managers who failed to support the inpatient oncology service line across the system. During her hospital tenure, she had the great fortune of acquiring extensive leadership experience within Oncology Nursing Society. Later the author find herself fit into her new role within association management.
