Wasteful consumption of electricity in high-rise building in Indonesia is the primary trigger for the increase in carbon emissions. Predominantly, the excessive use of electrical appliances and air conditioning systems is the principal factor contributing to the use of energy within these structures. To effectively address this issue, the importance lies in adopting suitable building envelope material. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of different insulation types and roof covering in improving the energy-saving performance of office building. There were six proposed renovation for the flat roof of building, consisting of two approaches, namely (1) the incorporation of insulation and (2) the replacement of roof covering layers. Scenarios A1, A2, and A3 have incorporated 100 mm of polyurethane (PU) foam, polyisocyanurate (PI) foam, and fiberglass batt into the design. Meanwhile, Scenarios B1, B2, and B3 opted for ceramic material, Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer (EPDM) membrane, and grass vegetation as roofing material for the existing roof. The results showed that the addition of insulation to roof through Insight 360 and the replacement of roof covering layers produced an energy reduction of 19.5% to 20.2% and 19.5% and 23.5%, respectively. The implementation of green roof in scenario B3 was selected as the most promising renovation option, achieving a remarkable 23.5% reduction in energy consumption.

The development of high-rise buildings worldwide has given rise to significant concerns regarding their excessive electricity consumption. Among the various categories of high-rise structures, hotels used for business and conferences stand out as particularly extravagant in their energy use. The consequence arising from excessive energy usage is an escalation in carbon emissions, which is a primary driver of global warming. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the energy use intensity (EUI) of a hotel building located in Jakarta, Indonesia. In order to improve energy performance, this study explored various options for renovating the building envelope, such as incorporating insulation and a roof covering, as well as implementing building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). The building envelope renovations demonstrated a notable reduction in energy use by 15.8–27.7% per year. BIPV, such as curtain walls and double-skin façades, generated an energy use reduction of 4.8–8.6% per year. Remarkably, by combining the two approaches (i.e., adding insulation and a roof covering in the building envelope and adopting BIPV as double-skin façades), the potential reduction in energy use reached up to 32.2% per year. The findings can assist decision-makers in developing building renovation strategies for high-rise buildings while considering energy conservation.

Housing development, as part of economic development, must be supported by energy availability in order to achieve sustainable growth. One of the approaches to supporting renewable energy promotion is to design and build energy efficient housing. However, the optimal design of such buildings faces two conflicting requirements, namely the consideration of cost effectiveness and minimum environmental impact. The high costs of energy efficient buildings, such as the near Zero Energy House (nZEH), are due to the high price of the materials and equipment used, such as photovoltaic (PV) panels, insulation and other supporting materials. Indonesia is situated on the equator and benefits from sunlight throughout the year. Nonetheless, this potential has not been fully realized, as the solar-generated energy technology for housing comes at a high price. Therefore, the objective of this study is to find the cost optimum combination of validated design variables for an nZEH which suit the tropical climate conditions of Indonesia. Experiments and a case study are employed in the study to validate the design variables for an optimum nZEH design, which include building orientation, PV panels, fenestration, and passive design. The study finds that the cost optimum nZEH design achieved 72 percent site-energy savings and 21 percent savings in the total Net Present Value (NPV) of life cycle costs, with insignificant incremental initial construction costs in enhancing the design.

In an effort to support carbon footprint reduction in housing development, one approach is designing energy efficient housing. Issues such as cost efficiency and minimum environmental impact should be thoroughly considered when designing this type of housing. One of concepts found to be cost-effective and to increase the energy performance of a house is the near Zero Energy House (nZEH) concept. This concept enhances the use of natural resources, for example, sunlight exposure, climate conditions, and wind, that can minimize the use of fossil fuel energy. Housing in a tropical climate where sun exposure is year round, such as in Indonesia, can benefit from the nZEH concept. This research aimed to identify design parameters of nZEH and its best practices in tropical climates, including Indonesia. The identified design parameters will be used in the next step of the research, finding a combination of cost optimum design parameters. This study was conducted by consulting recognized experts, which included government, private sector, and academicia, who have expertise in the field of building design and energy. The results showed that the design parameters of nZEH in tropical areas include passive design, fenestration, indoor lighting arrangements, and the use of photovoltaic panels (PV).

The infrastructure of the transportation system plays an important and strategic part in the development of a country and serves to support economic progress by enabling the mobility of citizens and the distribution of goods from one region to another. However, communities have unequal access to the system and there are gaps in the regional infrastructure in Indonesia, leading to the requirement for a mapping of all 33 provincial capitals. In this study, we reviewed provisions for road, sea, air, and rail travel. The mapping result is expected to determine the pattern and the prioritization needed for future infrastructure development. A literature review was performed to establish assessment indicators for the mapping. The weighting of each indicator was based on a survey of stakeholders in transportation sectors, which was then analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process. After weighting was completed, the infrastructure of each provincial capital was assessed to determine ratings from the highest to the lowest rank. Jakarta, Medan, Bandung, Surabaya, and Semarang obtained the highest rankings, while Manokwari, Serang, Mamuju, Ternate, and Palangkaraya were at the bottom. This result shows that provincial capitals in western Indonesia had better assessment results than those in the east. Therefore, improvements to the transportation infrastructure of the latter cities should be prioritized.

Faktor-faktor ini dapat mengganggu kinerja pelaksanaan proyek dan dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya penyimpangan pada biaya tenaga kerja. Penyimpangan biaya ini perlu dianalisa, dicari penyebabnya dan ditentukan tindakan koreksi yang sesuai. Penentuan tindakan koreksi yang tepat merupakan suatu analisa pengambilan keputusan, yang mana perlu dilakukan analisa terhadap berbagai risiko yang dapat terjadi. Penentuan peringkat faktor-faktor risiko dalam rekrutmen tenaga kerja dapat membantu dalam mengambil keputusan tindakan koreksi yang paling sesuai untuk mengantisipasi penyimpangan yang terjadi. Bobot/nilai pada faktor risiko dapat ditentukan dengan memakai metode AHP (Analytical Hierarchial Process). Faktor risiko dengan peringkat yang tinggi (dengan bobot yang tinggi) berarti memiliki tingkat prioritas yang lebih utama untuk ditangani dan ditanggulangi.

In labor recruitment, there are several factors that affect the labor costs. These factors can disrupt the project execution and can cause variances in labor costs. These variances need to be analyzed through the roots of the causes and to be corrected. Deciding the proper corrective action is part of a decision making analysis,where risk analysis is included. Determining the risk ranks from the factors in labor recruitment could support in attaining the suitable corrective action in order to anticipate any variances occurred. AHP (Analytical Hierarchial Process) method can be used to determine the weight/score of the factors. Factors that have high ranks (with high weighted factor) are factors with high risk priorities that need to be assessed and handled

This research aims to develop a risk-based communication flow in apartment projects with a focus on improving time performance. The methods employed include surveys and case studies, with data collected through the creation and distribution of questionnaires to experts, along with an analysis of results conducted by Company X. The findings indicate that the communication flow implemented at PT. X has proven to be valid and effective. However, several factors hinder the smooth communication flow, such as inadequate planning and scheduling of work, insufficient communication due to mismatched methods and technologies, inefficient information distribution systems, inadequate project budget planning, lack of resources, incomplete scheduling of time and resources, inappropriate listening and speaking skills, lack of empathy among parties, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, emotional conditions, and lack of mastery of communication techniques. Based on these findings, several actions are recommended to enhance communication flow, including improving planning and scheduling of work, using communication methods and technologies appropriate to field conditions, improving information distribution systems, ensuring project budget planning availability, increasing resources, creating comprehensive time and resource planning, enhancing listening and speaking skills, improving empathy among parties, upgrading facilities and infrastructure, controlling emotional conditions, and enhancing mastery of communication techniques. By implementing these recommendations, it is hoped that the communication flow in apartment projects can operate more effectively and efficiently, thereby improving overall project time performance.
