By varying a general pair condensate (VPC), we explore the multiplet of minima in even-even nuclei from $sd$ shell to media-heavy $sdg7h11$ shell, which may provide the foundation of universal coexistence. The VPC calculation is limited within a single major shell, and thus the conventional interpretation for the coexistence near magic number, i.e., multiple-particle-hole excitation across a major shell gap, does not account for coexistence observed in this work. The inclusion of all possible pairing channel is crucial to this ``new'' type of shape coexistence, or increase the energy minima of such coexistence. The angular-momentum projected VPC (PVPC) is adopted to further calculate the low-lying level scheme of some light nuclei, and to identify the band structures emerging from the coexistence. Well agreement between the PVPC results and the experimental data is achieved, and thus the picture of universal coexistence is experimentally supported, at least, in light nuclei., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

Besides, there were no positive results from the head-up tilt test. The subsequent decrease in heart rate and blood pressure following the ingestion of chili pepper indicated a potential case of vasovagal syncope(VVS) with cardioinhibition. Following cardioneuroablation, there was an observed increase in heart rate compared to pre-procedure levels. Furthermore, no recurrence of similar symptoms was reported during the one-year follow-up period.Keywords: Cardioneuroablation, Vasovagal syncope, chili pepper stimulation, VVS

There is a current research gap regarding the incidence of osteoporosis and its variation by altitude within Sichuan, China. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of osteoporosis among populations residing at different altitudes in western Sichuan Province.Basic Procedures: This study utilized data from a population-based cohort in Sichuan, China. Representative locations were selected, and cluster random sampling was employed to conduct cohort studies across multiple sites in southwestern China. T Baseline data were collected from populations in Mianzhu, Kangting, and Sertar between July 2020 and August 2021. To assess differences in osteoporosis incidence among populations at different altitudes and with varying characteristics, we applied Chi-square and rank-sum tests.Main Findings: The study involved 4074 participants, including 1404 males (34.46%) and 791 individuals diagnosed with osteoporosis (19.42%). The prevalence of osteopenia in mid-altitude and high-altitude regions was 20.05% and 16.28%, respectively, while the prevalence of osteoporosis was significantly different, at 25.85% in mid-altitude areas compared to 13.00% in high-altitude areas (P < 0.001). Further analysis identified statistically significant differences in the prevalence of osteopenia and osteoporosis among females (P< 0.001), middle-aged (P=0.015) and elderly populations (P=0.038), as well as among individuals who were underweight (P=0.011), normal weight (P< 0.001), overweight (P< 0.001), and obese (P=0.038). As altitude increased, the prevalence of osteoporosis decreased in all groups except the elderly, while the prevalence of osteopenia decreased among women and across various BMI categories, but increased among middle-aged and elderly individuals. Additionally, in high-altitude regions, Kangting recorded an 18.10% prevalence of osteopenia and a 14.26% prevalence of osteoporosis, compared to Sertar, which exhibited a 6.54% prevalence of osteopenia and a 6.23% prevalence of osteoporosis, indicating significant differences (P< 0.001).Conclusion: This study demonstrates that higher altitudes are associated with a decreased prevalence of osteopenia and osteoporosis, particularly among females and middle-aged individuals. Serum samples were collected from rats with MS, induced by a high-sugar-fat-salt diet (HSFSD) combined with streptozotocin (STZ), to measure the levels of biochemical markers. The glucose (GLU), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were detected. The liver tissue of rats was used for histological examination and Western blot analysis.Results: Network pharmacology analysis generated 69 drug-disease common targets and 10 hub genes closely related to ZZG against MS. KEGG pathway analysis revealed that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was the most potential pathway, which took part in the therapeutic mechanisms. In the animal experiments section, the therapeutic effect of ZZG on MS and the therapeutic pathway of ZZG on MS were verified. ZZG could significantly decrease the body weight, TC, TG, LDL-C and GLU levels in MS rats (all p< 0.01), alleviate hepatocyte steatosis and decrease liver lipid droplet deposition. Western blot analysis indicated that compared with the model group, the expression levels of PI3K, AKT, and IRS-1 protein were significantly increased (all p< 0.05), and the FOXO-1 was significantly decreased (all p< 0.05) in the ZZG group.Conclusion: ZZG can improve glucose-lipid metabolism disorder in rats with metabolic syndrome. The Super $\tau$-Charm facility (STCF) is an electron-positron collider proposed by the Chinese particle physics community. It is designed to operate in a center-of-mass energy range from 2 to 7 GeV with a peak luminosity of $0.5\times 10^{35}{\rm cm}^{-2}{\rm s}^{-1}$ or higher. The STCF will produce a data sample about a factor of 100 larger than that by the present $\tau$-Charm factory -- the BEPCII, providing a unique platform for exploring the asymmetry of matter-antimatter (charge-parity violation), in-depth studies of the internal structure of hadrons and the nature of non-perturbative strong interactions, as well as searching for exotic hadrons and physics beyond the Standard Model. The STCF project in China is under development with an extensive R\&D program. This document presents the physics opportunities at the STCF, describes conceptual designs of the STCF detector system, and discusses future plans for detector R\&D and physics case studies.

Liquid argon is used as a target material in several current and planned experiments related to dark matter direct searching and neutrino detection. SiPM is becoming the standard for scintillator detectors because of its advantages over traditional PMT. In this paper, we developed a single-phase liquid argon detector using eight 1 $\times$1 inch$^2$ Hamamatsu S14161-6050HS 4$\times$4 SiPM arrays. The directly measured light yield is 25.7 $\pm$ 1.6 photo-electrons per keV, which corresponds to 12.8 $\pm$ 0.8 photo-electrons primarily generated by the argon scintillation. The rest is contributed by the cross-talk and after-pulse of SiPM. In addition, we provide an experimental method to estimate the effect of crosstalk and afterpulse on light yield using dark noise data. Finally, we quantitatively give the relationship between the light yield and the decay time of the slow component of a liquid argon detector., Comment: 15 pages, 13 figures

Both large spontaneous polarization and high breakdown strength are necessary to achieve high recoverable energy density in capacitors. Unfortunately, there is a trade-off between them within the homogeneous medium. Therefore, a sandwich structure with a high polarization layer was designed in the Aurivillius phase lead-free film to address this issue. This strategy can effectively enhance the polarization capability by introducing a highly spontaneous polarization layer and also improve the breakdown strength by reducing the leakage current caused by interfacial barriers and grain refinement. Benefiting from the synergistic effects, a high energy density of 50.4 J / cm 3 with a high efficiency of 76.6% in the sandwich-structure thin film capacitors were achieved. In addition, the energy storage performance exhibits good wide frequency range and high-temperature stability. This approach is generally applicable to the design of other ferroelectrics and dielectrics promises high-performance energy storage capacitors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Secreted modular calcium-binding protein 2 (SMOC2) is a cysteine-rich acidic secreted protein that plays a pathophysiological role in many diseases, including regulation of vascular growth factor activity. It has previously been found that SMOC2 plays an essential role in cardiac fibrosis in our previous preclinical study, but whether it can be used as a clinical marker in heart failure patients remains unclear. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the correlation between plasma levels of SMOC2 and the prognosis for individuals with HF.Methods: HF patients diagnosed with ischemic cardiomyopathy were enrolled from January to December 2021. Baseline plasma levels of SMOC2 were measured after demographic and clinical features were collected. Linear and nonlinear multivariate Cox regression models were used to determine the association between plasma SMOC2 and patient outcomes during follow-up. All analysis was performed using SPSS, EmpowerStats, and R software.Results: The study included 188 patients, and the average follow-up time was 489.5± 88.3 days. The plasma SMOC2 concentrations were positively correlated with N-terminal pro-B-type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDd), and length of hospital stay and were negatively correlated with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) at baseline. A total of 53 patients (28.2%) were rehospitalized due to cardiac deterioration, 14 (7.4%) died, and 37 (19.7%) developed malignant arrhythmias. A fully adjusted multivariate COX regression model showed that SMOC2 is associated with readmission (HR = 1.02, 95% CI:1.012– 1.655). A significant increase in rehospitalization risk was observed in group Q2 (HR =1.064, 95% CI: 1.037, 3.662, p=0.005) and group Q3 (HR =1.085, 95% CI:1.086, 3.792, p=0.009) in comparison with group Q1. The p for trend also shows a linear correlation across the three models (P < 0.001). SMOC2 was associated with the severity of HF in patients, but not with all-cause deaths and arrhythmias during follow-up.Conclusion: Plasma SMOC2 is associated with the severity of HF and readmission rate, and is a good predictor of the risk of readmission in patients.Keywords: SMOC2, heart failure, ischemic cardiomyopathy, readmission rate, myocardial fibrosis

T2DM patients were categorized into normal and high lactate groups. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to identify independent predictors for DKD. Then, nomograms for predicting DKD were established, and the model performance was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), calibration, and decision curve analysis (DCA).Results: T2DM patients exhibited higher lactate levels compared to those in healthy subjects. Glucose, platelet, uric acid, creatinine, and hypertension were independent factors for DKD in T2DM patients with normal lactate levels, while diabetes duration, creatinine, total cholesterol, and hypertension were indicators in high lactate levels group (P< 0.05). The AUC values were 0.834 (95% CI, 0.776 to 0.891) and 0.741 (95% CI, 0.688 to 0.795) for nomograms in both normal lactate and high lactate groups, respectively. The calibration curve demonstrated excellent agreement of fit. Furthermore, the DCA revealed that the threshold probability and highest Net Yield were 17– 99% and 0.36, and 24– 99% and 0.24 for the models in normal lactate and high lactate groups, respectively.Conclusion: The serum lactate level-based nomogram models, combined with traditional risk factors, offer an effective tool for predicting DKD probability in T2DM patients. During surgery, a contrast medium, Gadopentetate Dimeglumine, was injected around the ruptured annulus fibrosus. The intensity of the T2 signal, the size of the remaining mass (SR), and the cross-sectional area of the spinal canal (SCSA), VAS, and ODI were assessed at preoperative, 1-h (7-day), 6-month, and 12-month postoperative intervals. Based on VAS at 7 days post-surgery, patients were classified into either a non-remission group (Group A, VAS > 3) or a remission group (Group B, VAS ≤ 3).Results: Six patients who developed recurrent LDH were excluded. A residual mass was detected on MRI 1 h after surgery in 94.6% (106/112). During one year of follow-up, 90.1% (101/112) of the patients displayed fibrous annulus remodeling, although 68.7% (77/112) still exhibited herniation. Significant differences were found in the ODI between Groups A and B one week after surgery (p < 0.001). However, no significant differences were observed in T2 signal intensity, SR, and SCSA at 1-h, 6-month and 12-month post-surgery (p > 0.05) between the two groups. In a multiple linear regression analysis, early postoperative ODI changes were associated with T2 signal (B = − 10.22, sig < 0.05), long-term changes were associated with alterations in SR (B = 5.63, sig < 0.05) and SCSA (B = − 0.13, sig < 0.05).Conclusion: The residual mass observed in early postoperative MR images after PELD was the retained annulus fibrosus intraoperatively. 17. OMR-NPA: Optimized Matrix Representation of Nucleon Pair Approximation

We optimize the matrix representation of the nucleon-pair approximation (NPA) of the nuclear shell model. The NPA is a widely adopted truncation approach of the nuclear shell model and proves to be effective in describing low-lying states of medium-heavy and heavy nuclei. Due to simplified (yet flexible) commutators and absolute elimination of angular momentum coupling, the matrix representation provides a formalism for the $M$-scheme NPA more efficient than others as far as we know. It also enables the practicable organization and storage design for intermediate results, including generated collective pairs, matrix products, and matrix traces, so that further optimization is achieved by reducing repetitive matrix operations, which are the most time-consuming procedures in the matrix-represented $M$-scheme NPA. We also describe optimizations specified for the $M$-scheme NPA, realized by invoking the Wigner-Eckart theorem, time-reversal symmetry, and conjugate operation of spherical tensors. Our optimization makes the combination of matrix representation and NPA more profitable. Such an implementation denoted by optimized matrix representation of NPA (OMR-NPA) is publicly released with open source. We compared their symptoms, mortality rates, and the length and cost of hospitalization.Results: The incidence of symptoms was similar in patients treated with azvudine and in those treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir. However, among patients experiencing weakness, the duration of weakness was significantly shorter in the azvudine group than in the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir group (P=0.029). Mortality did not differ significantly between the azvudine group and the nirmatrelvir/ritonavir group (18.14% vs.10.53%, P=0.068). Among “severe patients”, the mortality rate was markedly lower in patients treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir than in patients treated with azvudine (16.92% vs.32.17%, P=0.026). In patients with hepatic insufficiency, those treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir had substantially lower mortality than those treated with azvudine (15.09% vs.34.25%, P=0.016). In addition, patients treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir had longer hospital stays (P=0.002) and higher hospital costs (P< 0.001) than those receiving azvudine. Compared with patients treated with nirmatrelvir/ritonavir or azvudine alone, patients taking nirmatrelvir/ritonavir and azvudine concurrently had no significant improvement in survival (P> 0.05), length of stay (P> 0.05), or hospital costs (P> 0.05).Conclusion: Azvudine is recommended for patients with non-severe COVID-19 with weakness. Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir is recommended for patients with severe COVID-19, to reduce mortality, and it could be the best choice for patients with hepatic insufficiency. It has garnered significant attention as a promising candidate for drug development.Objective: This article aims to comprehensively review the clinical application, pharmacological action, and potential mechanisms of ENG, while exploring its prospects in clinical pharmacology.Methods: We conducted a systematic search of PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus, and MEDLINE for a thorough review of high-quality articles on the source, extraction, and application of ENG, or the primary active ingredient for improving bodily injuries.Results: ENG exhibits significant potential in treating a variety of diseases across different systems, attributed to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-tumor, and metabolic regulatory activities. These effects are linked to direct or indirect interactions with multiple pathways involving key molecules upstream and downstream.Conclusion: While ENG shows promise, its development requires further exploration. Future studies should focus on elucidating its mechanisms of action, identifying targets through clinical studies, and optimizing compounds for drug development. These research directions are crucial for advancing the development and application of flavonoids. In this paper, we propose an approach of the nucleon-pair approximation (NPA), in which the collective nucleon pairs are represented in terms of antisymmetric matrices, and commutations between nucleon pairs are given by using matrix multiplication that avoids angular-momentum couplings and recouplings. The energy deposition and the atomic processes, such as the electron-capture, ionization, excitation and radiative-decays for slow heavy ions in plasma remains an unsolved fundamental problem. Here we investigate, both experimentally and theoretically, the stopping of 100 keV=u helium ions in a well-defined hydrogen plasma. Our precise measurements show a much higher energy loss than the predictions of the semi-classical approaches with the commonly used effective charge. By solving the Time Dependent Rate Equation (TDRE) with all the main projectile states and for all relevant atomic processes, our calculations are in remarkable agreement with the experimental data. We also demonstrated that, acting as a bridge for electron-capture and ionization, the projectile excited states and their radiative decays can remarkably influence the equilibrium charge states and consequently lead to a substantial increasing of the stopping of ions in plasma.

We propose a pair-condensate variational approach (PCV) to determine a set of the most important collective pairs in the description of low-lying states in atomic nuclei. Having available the precise details on these key collective pairs -- their spin, parity, and structure -- can be particularly useful in calculations based on the nucleon-pair approximation (NPA), helping to reduce their uncertainties. In trial calculations for the transitional Ba isotopes, our variational approach describes the evolution of quadrupole-deformation properties similar to Hartree-Fock treatments, while at the same time highlighting the $\gamma$ softness of $^{132}$Ba. Our approach can conclusively determine which collective pairs are critical for obtaining the lowest possible yrast, quasi-beta, quasi-gamma bands, producing both the level structure of these bands and related B(E2) values in reasonable consistency with experiment. These trial calculations suggest that with our PCV approach the NPA can be meaningfully applied to transitional nuclei with a wide spectrum of shapes. We also show that while neutron negative-parity pairs could in principle have an important impact on backbending in $^{132}$Ba, they are not favored for this nucleus., Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures

Metabolomics analysis is a powerful tool for qualitatively and quantitatively characterizing the small molecule metabolomics of various biological matrices in order to clarify all key scientific problems concerning cell metabolism. The discovery of optimal therapy requires a thorough understanding of the cellular metabolic mechanism of skeletal muscle aging. In the random-interaction ensembles, electromagnetic moments of Cd $I^{\pi}=11/2^-$ isomers predominately present linear systematics as changing the neutron number, which has been reported in realistic nuclear system. We analyze the relation between the emission radii of twin kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs) and the co-rotation radii of the 12 neutron star low mass X-ray binaries (NS-LMXBs) which are simultaneously detected with the twin kHz QPOs and NS spins. We find that the average co-rotation radius of these sources is r_co about 32 km, and all the emission positions of twin kHz QPOs lie inside the corotation radii, indicating that the twin kHz QPOs are formed in the spin-up process. It is noticed that the upper frequency of twin kHz QPOs is higher than NS spin frequency by > 10%, which may account for a critical velocity difference between the Keplerian motion of accretion matter and NS spin that is corresponding to the production of twin kHz QPOs. In addition, we also find that about 83% of twin kHz QPOs cluster around the radius range of 15-20 km, which may be affected by the hard surface or the local strong magnetic field of NS. As a special case, SAX J1808.4-3658 shows the larger emission radii of twin kHz QPOs of r about 21-24 km, which may be due to its low accretion rate or small measured NS mass (< 1.4 solar mass)., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, 1 table
