All-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) are emerging as promising next-generation batteries for electric vehicles owing to their high energy densities and safety features. However, challenges such as inadequate material percolation and low cathode utilization often hinder their potential. This paper presents a core–shell approach to optimize the cathode active material (CAM) utilization. The resultant CAM composite showed high ionic conductivity, a highly dense microstructure with <10% porosity, and minimal stack pressure changes during electrochemical cycling. The maximum CAM utilization was achieved while effectively mitigating electrochemo-mechanical side reactions by applying a uniformly coated Li6PS5Cl solid electrolyte layer (≈500 nm) and a LiNbO3 buffer layer (≈10 nm) onto LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 particles (LPSCl@LNO@NMC). The engineered LPSCl@LNO@NMC composites, which incorporated a 5 wt% LPSCl coating on LNO@NMC powders, exhibited a dense microstructure that enhanced the mechanical stability at the cathode. Sulfide-based solid electrolyte (SSE)/SSE contact provided better ionic pathways within the composite and increased CAM utilization. Thus, an enhanced reversible capacity (197 mA h g−1) and exceptional high-rate cycling performance (86.3% capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 2C) were observed. Background: Since cytokine receptor-like factor 1 (CRLF1) has been implicated in tissue regeneration, we hypothesized that CRLF1 released by mesenchymal stem cells can promote the repair of osteochondral defects. Methods: The degree of a femoral osteochondral defect repair in rabbits after intra-articular injections of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) that were transduced with empty adeno-associated virus (AAV) or AAV containing CRLF1 was determined by morphological, histological, and micro computer tomography (CT) analyses. The effects of CRLF1 on chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs or catabolic events of interleukin-1beta-treated chondrocyte cell line TC28a2 were determined by alcian blue staining, gene expression levels of cartilage and catabolic marker genes using real-time PCR analysis, and immunoblot analysis of Smad2/3 and STAT3 signaling. Results: Intra-articular injections of BMSCs overexpressing CRLF1 markedly improved repair of a rabbit femoral osteochondral defect. Overexpression of CRLF1 in BMSCs resulted in the release of a homodimeric CRLF1 complex that stimulated chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs via enhancing Smad2/3 signaling, whereas the suppression of CRLF1 expression inhibited chondrogenic differentiation. In addition, CRLF1 inhibited catabolic events in TC28a2 cells cultured in an inflammatory environment, while a heterodimeric complex of CRLF1 and cardiotrophin-like Cytokine (CLC) stimulated catabolic events via STAT3 activation. Conclusion: A homodimeric CRLF1 complex released by BMSCs enhanced the repair of osteochondral defects via the inhibition of catabolic events in chondrocytes and the stimulation of chondrogenic differentiation of precursor cells. Learner journals or diaries have been used in various educational contexts to motivate learning and learner reflection. This study examines how learner journals, especially listening logs for extensive listening in a self-regulated environment, affected university students' listening proficiency, and how the students reported on their listening activities. Forty-two students who took an English listening practice course at a university kept a weekly listening log for a semester. They wrote their listening experience with various listening materials on different topics they chose. The TOEFL tests as pre-and post-tests were conducted to find out the effects of listening logs. A paired-samples test indicated there was a significant difference between the two tests. Analysis of listening logs showed that writing listening logs regularly influenced the students' improved listening comprehension and facilitated motivation. Also, students reflected on their listening strategies, and became accustomed to listening to a variety of listening resources. In addition, students often mentioned learning logs built confidence in their own listening and helped them to manage their learning. Finally, the study discusses the educational implications for listening logs and makes suggestions for future research.
