En coup de sabre is an unusual variant of localized scleroderma characterized by its distinct location involving the frontoparietal region of the forehead and scalp. The authors describe a rare case of en coup de sabre in a 3-year-old boy whose disease onset was at 12 months of age. This article presents the clinical manifestations of continuous changes in the lesion photographed over time. Cultured allogenic keratinocytes, produced as Kaloderm® (Tego Science, Seoul, Korea), are an effective dressing material for burn wounds. Generally, deep second-degree contact, steam, and flame burns tend to progress to third-degree burns. This study reviews the efficacy of cultured allogenic keratinocytes in deep second-degree burn patients. This is a retrospective study of 64 patients treated between November 2013 and April 2019. A half of deep second-degree contact, steam, and flame burn patients were treated with cultured allogenic keratinocytes. The other half were treated with chlorhexidine gauze and antibiotic ointment. The primary outcome was time to wound closure. A secondary outcome was the number of Kaloderm sheets used. Groups were compared based on the type of burn and treatment. In the experimental group, the median times to reepithelization were 10.0 days for the contact burn group, 13.5 days for the flame burn group, and 11.0 days for the steam burn group. Progression to a third-degree burn occurred in only one patient in the experimental group and four patients in the control group. Patients treated with cultured allogenic keratinocytes required a mean time of 11.7 ± 2.4 days for complete closure, whereas the mean time to complete closure in the control group was 16.4 ± 5.3 days. Patients with deep second-degree burns from flame, steam, and contact treated with cultured allogenic keratinocytes reepithelialized faster than those treated with chlorhexidine dressings. Medial orbital wall fractures can cause severe aesthetic and functional complications, if not treated properly. The aim of this study was to prospectively evaluate the use of titanium mesh plates inserted through the pericaruncular approach for the treatment of medial orbital wall fractures. Between 1 July 2010 and 1 January 2013, a total of 17 patients with large medial orbital wall defects were treated. All of the large bony defects were treated using titanium mesh plates inserted through the pericaruncular approach. All patients had anatomically correct orbital wall reconstruction as accessed by immediate postoperative computed tomography scan. One patient with large bony defects presented with diplopia after the primary procedure. Re-operation was needed for correction. After surgery, the diplopia was corrected. In all patients, postoperative morbidity was minimal and cosmetic results were excellent. Titanium mesh may be a valuable material for the reconstruction of severe medial orbital wall defects. Its advantages include excellent structural support, shorter operative time, and ease of being moulded into the desired shape. The pericaruncular approach may allow for or give direct access to the medial orbital wall and orbital apex without any cutaneous incision or disruption of the medial canthal ligament, and insertion of titanium mesh plates is possible under direct vision. Background: Changes in abdominal contour, including peristomal indentations, can cause leakage of stoma effluent and other complications., Purpose: To describe the case of a 39-year-old patient with a urostomy who experienced very frequent urine leakage as a result of a peristomal indentation., Case Study: The patient presented with a history of cystectomy and urostomy surgery for chronic interstitial cystitis and dysfunction of the bladder due to a neurogenic problem, and very frequent appliance changes due to urine leakage. Modest improvement occurred following fasciocutaneous V-Y advancement flap surgery. After 7 months, a silicone block was inserted in the peristomal indentation. After 1 year of follow-up, the outcome remained satisfactory and no additional procedures were needed., Conclusion: In this case, silicone block insertion was an effective and minimally invasive alternative to manage stomal leakage refractory to other procedures.
