The paper reports the thermodynamic and transport properties of the materials that are used in liquid electrolytes of lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Linear and cyclic carbonates are commonly used solvents for organic electrolyte solutions. On the other hand, γ-butyrolactone (GBL) could also be an attractive solvent because it has sufficiently high permittivity to dissociate lithium salts. This prompted us to investigate the thermo-physical properties such as the density, refractive index, kinematic viscosity (298.2 to 328.2 K) and the excess and deviation properties (298.2 to 318.2 K) for a mixture of GBL and diethyl carbonate (DEC) or propylene carbonate (PC). The thermo-physical properties, i.e., the density, refractive index, and kinematic viscosity, were correlated by employing DIPPR, and linear and Goletz/Tassion equations, respectively. The excess and deviation properties were computed and modeled by the polynomial Redlich-Kister equations for each of the binary fractions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Heterostructures of metal halide perovskites and TiO x are efficient photocatalytic materials owing to the combination of the advantages of each compound, specifically the high absorption coefficients and long charge-carrier lifetimes of perovskites, and efficient photocatalytic activity of TiO x . However, chemical reduction of CO 2 using PNC/TiO x heterostructures without organic solvents has not been reported yet. Here, we report the first solvent-free reduction of CO 2 using amorphous TiO x with embedded colloidal perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs). The combination was obtained by carrying out hydrolysis of titanium butoxide (TBOT) on the PNC surface without high-temperature calcination. We proposed a mechanism involving photoexcited electrons being transferred from PNCs to TBOT, enabling photocatalytic reactions using TiO x under visible-light excitation. We demonstrated efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic reactions at PNC/TiO x interfaces, specifically with a CO production rate of 30.43 μmol g -1 h -1 and accelerated degradation of organic pollutants under natural sunlight. Our work has provided a simple path toward both efficient CO 2 reduction and photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes.

Organic-inorganic hybrid CH 3 NH 3 PbBr 3 (MAPbBr 3 ) perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) are considered as promising and cost-effective building blocks for various optoelectronic devices. However, during centrifugation for the purification of these PQDs, commonly used polar protic and aprotic non-solvents (e.g., methanol and acetone) can destroy the nanocrystal structure of MAPbBr 3 perovskites, which will significantly reduce the production yields and degrade the optical properties of the PQDs. This study demonstrates the use of methyl acetate (MeOAc) as an effective non-solvent for purifying as-synthesized MAPbBr 3 PQDs without causing severe damage, which facilitates attainment of stable PQD solutions with high production yields. The MeOAc-washed MAPbBr 3 PQDs maintain their high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yields and crystalline structures for long periods in solution states. MeOAc undergoes a hydrolysis reaction in the presence of the PQDs, and the resulting acetate anions partially replace the original surface ligands without damaging the PQD cores. Time-resolved PL analysis reveals that the MeOAc-washed PQDs show suppressed non-radiative recombination and a longer PL lifetime than acetone-washed and methanol-washed PQDs. Finally, it is demonstrated that a composite of the MAPbBr 3 PQDs and a thermoplastic elastomer (polystyrene- block -polyisoprene- block -polystyrene) is feasible as a stretchable and self-healable green color filter for a white light-emitting diode device.
