This study assessed the energy-saving and climate-adaptive potential of cool skin and ventilated cavity skin facade technologies in Seoul's high-rise apartment buildings. We created weather scenarios for historical, mid-term future, and long-term future conditions using Coordinated Regional Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) method. Building energy simulations were conducted on a South Korean high-rise apartment model to evaluate their performance under different weather conditions. The results indicate that cool skin and ventilated cavity skin technologies can save cooling energy during summers but lead to heating energy penalties in winters. Ventilated cavity skin outperforms cool skin, offering better cooling energy savings and reduced heating penalties. Combining both technologies yields the highest overall energy savings, with 7 %, 9 %, and 10 % cooling energy savings for cool skin, ventilated cavity skin, and the combined package, respectively. However, cool skin increases heating energy consumption by 5 %, while ventilated cavity skin has minimal impact on heating energy. These envelope technologies also reduce peak electricity demand by at least 5 %, 8 %, and 9 %, respectively. They contribute to heat stress reduction, enhance resilience, and decrease extreme heat risks for occupants during power outages by at least 18 % under various weather conditions. Considering the prevalence of aging high-rise apartments in South Korea, adopting these envelope renovation strategies can effectively reduce cooling loads, enhance thermal comfort, and boost resilience under future climates, while avoiding costly reconstruction.

This study investigates the optimal particle density for accurate wave simulation in non-breaking and breaking wave conditions using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). Simulations were conducted using various particle densities, or particles per wavelength, to evaluate their impact on simulation accuracy and computational efficiency. In tests involving regular, non-breaking waves, particle densities in the range of np per L = 560 to 800 were found to provide satisfactory accuracy and computational efficiency. Increasing the particle density beyond np per L = 800 for more complex setups involving breaking waves did not significantly improve accuracy but resulted in much higher computational costs. Overall, the range of np per L = 560 to 800 offers the best balance between accuracy and efficiency, making it a practical choice for simulations with limited resources. The study addresses a gap in the literature on student-run restaurants (SRRs), emphasizing the lack of discussion surrounding the analysis of sales data to predict patrons’ purchasing behaviors. Combining theoretical frameworks from the theory of dining and socio-economic theory, the research aims to deepen our understanding of how patron groups and menu price formats influence operational outcomes in SRRs, specifically, the total number of menu items purchased and average per-person spending. Utilizing sales data from an SRR (n = 1,114) affiliated with a Midwest public university in the US, this study reveals crucial insights into SRR dynamics. Model 1 uncovers how menu price formats, patron groups, and menu categories shape average per-person food spending. Model 2 highlights the revenue advantage of prix-fixe over à la carte formats. Additionally, Model 3 illustrates how patron groups influence menu choices and purchasing spending. Given the results, this study enriches our understanding of SRR operations by integrating both the theory of dining and socio-economic theory and contributes valuable insights to enhance the sustainability of SRR operations through refining menu planning and profit strategies. This study utilizes multi‐homing theory to assess international travelers' usage of social media platforms, revealing insights into their gender, country of origin, generation cohorts, and travel purposes. These insights can guide the development of effective social media marketing strategies for national destination management organizations (DMOs). Data from South Korea's 2019 International Visitor Survey (with 12,194 participants) was analyzed using chi‐square and correspondence analysis techniques. The results revealed distinctive preferences of international visitors among generational cohorts with different travel purposes across 19 countries in the usage of online travel communities, social network platforms, video‐sharing platforms, and travel blogs. Understanding the dynamics of social media platforms helps national DMOs enhance their social media marketing strategies for international visitors, based on the multi‐sided platform usage paradigm.
