Abstract

We introduce HyperCLOVA X, a family of large language models (LLMs) tailored to the Korean language and culture, along with competitive capabilities in English, math, and coding. HyperCLOVA X was trained on a balanced mix of Korean, English, and code data, followed by instruction-tuning with high-quality human-annotated datasets while abiding by strict safety guidelines reflecting our commitment to responsible AI. The model is evaluated across various benchmarks, including comprehensive reasoning, knowledge, commonsense, factuality, coding, math, chatting, instruction-following, and harmlessness, in both Korean and English. HyperCLOVA X exhibits strong reasoning capabilities in Korean backed by a deep understanding of the language and cultural nuances. Further analysis of the inherent bilingual nature and its extension to multilingualism highlights the model's cross-lingual proficiency and strong generalization ability to untargeted languages, including machine translation between several language pairs and cross-lingual inference tasks. 2. Centroid-aware feature recalibration for cancer grading in pathology images

Abstract

Cancer grading is an essential task in pathology. The recent developments of artificial neural networks in computational pathology have shown that these methods hold great potential for improving the accuracy and quality of cancer diagnosis. However, the issues with the robustness and reliability of such methods have not been fully resolved yet. Herein, we propose a centroid-aware feature recalibration network that can conduct cancer grading in an accurate and robust manner. The proposed network maps an input pathology image into an embedding space and adjusts it by using centroids embedding vectors of different cancer grades via attention mechanism. Equipped with the recalibrated embedding vector, the proposed network classifiers the input pathology image into a pertinent class label, i.e., cancer grade. We evaluate the proposed network using colorectal cancer datasets that were collected under different environments. 10. Use of Body Worn Camera (BWC) In Gray Scenarios: a Law Enforcement Officers' Perspective.

Abstract

Body Worn Camera (BWC) is an Information Technology (IT) artefact that has begun to be used in law enforcement. In this paper, we develop a research model that focuses on law enforcement agents' perspective about the ethical use of BWC, by extending rational choice theory (RCT) from the standpoint of cost/benefit of using BWC, contextual factors, as well as organisational justice. The paper tests the relationship between three factors: a) work motivation, b) cost of using BWC, and c) benefit of using BWC and police perceptions of ethical use of BWC. In addition, we test the moderating effects of work-related uncertainty on the above three relationships. The associations between organisational justice factors and work motivation are also discussed. Further, in collaboration with the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), we develop three grey BWC scenarios that are not clearly ethical nor clearly unethical. We apply a survey methodology to test the model in the context of grey scenarios. The results show that work motivation and the risk of using BWC are negatively related with the law enforcement agents' perceptions about ethical use of BWC and these relationships are negatively moderated by work-related uncertainty, while justice constructs are positively associated with perceived work motivation. 28. Eustress and Distress in the Context of Telework

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about a surge in telework, with many organizations using telework to continue operations. Teleworkers are subject to stress due to the demands of working from home. Despite the common view of stress as being detrimental, stress can also be beneficial. In this paper, we investigate two forms of stress, eustress (beneficial stress), and distress (detrimental stress) using a theoretically-derived model that includes antecedents and outcomes of eustress and distress. We test our model using data from a survey of 525 American teleworkers. Results indicate that job resources (autonomy, managerial support, and technical support), and personal resources (resilience and self-efficacy) affect eustress, while job demands (work overload, social isolation, and resource inadequacies) affect distress. Eustress is positively associated with job and telework satisfaction and negatively associated with telework exhaustion. Distress has the opposite effects. Our findings hold implications for researchers and practitioners.

Abstract

Organizations face both opportunities and risks with big data analytics vendors, and the risks are now profound, as data has been likened to the oil of the digital era. The growing body of research at the nexus of big data analytics and cloud computing is examined from the economic perspective, based on agency theory (AT). A conceptual framework is developed for analyzing these opportunities and challenges regarding the use of big data analytics and cloud computing in e-business environments. This framework allows organizations to engage in contracts that target competitive parity with their service-oriented decision support system (SODSS) to achieve a competitive advantage related to their core business model. A unique contribution of this paper is its perspective on how to engage a vendor contractually to achieve this competitive advantage. The framework provides insights for a manager in selecting a vendor for cloud-based big data services.

Abstract

Objective: Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of coronary arteries represents a challenge for percutaneous treatment. Although ameroid constrictors have been used to create CTOs from extrinsic compression of coronary arteries, this model is not suitable for evaluation of novel angioplasty equipment. Thus, the objective of this study was to create a new percutaneous animal model of CTO., Methods: To create an animal model of CTO, we implanted copper-plated stents in the left circumflex coronary arteries of 18 pigs, and assigned the pigs to early group (n = 6; sacrifice at approximately 1 week), intermediate group (n = 6; sacrifice at approximately 4 weeks), and late group (n = 6; sacrifice at approximately 8 weeks)., Results: Follow-up angiography prior to sacrifice revealed complete occlusion in 14 of 17 animals, with the subtotal occlusive lesions (mean 60% stenosis) only in the early group. Most of the pigs with total occlusions (12 of 14) showed bridging collateral flow greater than or equal to grade 2 (grade 2: 4; grade 3: 8). Histology revealed organizing thrombus in the early group with persistent inflammation, and organized thrombus with fibrosis and calcification in the intermediate and late groups. Interestingly, there were fibrotic components in the proximal and distal edges of the occlusions with softer, organizing thrombus in the middle of the CTO in the late group, suggesting that the major areas of difficulty are at the entrance and exit segments of the CTO with percutaneous recanalization., Conclusion: This study shows the feasibility and reproducibility of a new porcine coronary percutaneous CTO model. This model may be useful in improving our percutaneous treatment of CTO.
