Abstract

This work presents KoBigBird-large, a large size of Korean BigBird that achieves state-of-the-art performance and allows long sequence processing for Korean language understanding. Without further pretraining, we only transform the architecture and extend the positional encoding with our proposed Tapered Absolute Positional Encoding Representations (TAPER). In experiments, KoBigBird-large shows state-of-the-art overall performance on Korean language understanding benchmarks and the best performance on document classification and question answering tasks for longer sequences against the competitive baseline models. Abstract

Aqueous rechargeable metal batteries have recently garnered considerable attention owing to their low cost, sufficient capacity, and the use of non‐flammable water‐based electrolytes. Among them, manganese batteries are particularly favored because of their stability, abundance, affordability, and high energy density. Despite their advantages, Mn storage host structures remain underexplored. Therefore, developing innovative host materials is crucial for advancing this field. In this paper, the study reports for the first time, the use of Ag0.33V2O5 as a cathode material in aqueous manganese batteries. The study explains the displacement/intercalation behavior of manganese and silver using electrochemical, structural, and spectroscopic analyses. Additionally, it is shown that cation (Ag+, Mn2+, H+) diffusion pathways can be simulated using diffusion‐barrier calculations. Finally, the study demonstrates high‐performance manganese batteries that exhibit a remarkable reversible capacity of ≈261.9 mAh g−1 at a current of 0.1 A g−1 and an excellent cycle retention of 69.1% after 2000 cycles at a current density of 1.5 A/g. The findings of this study contribute to the advancement of aqueous manganese battery technology, offering a promising pathway for developing safer, more cost‐effective, and high‐performance energy storage systems. 14. Cost-Effective Co-Optimization of RF Process Technology Targeting Performances/Power/Area Enhancements for RF and mmWave Applications.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a cost-effective way to tune RF process technology to achieve well-optimized RF and mmWave performances/power/area by tweaking back-end-of-line (BEOL) configurations. This paper suggests that the most favorable altitude is that of an ultra-thick-metal (UTM) layer from the silicon substrate, and the effort also focuses on the calibration of the via height/pitch underneath the UTM to satisfy the least ohmic loss in the interface between the active and passive device components. We implemented a process optimization in a 28 nm fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FD-SOI) process technology, and the results show performance enhancements on the inductor, achieving a 14.8% quality factor improvement and a 13.1% self-resonance frequency improvement. This paper also showcases how the process optimization boosts 29 GHz LNA performances, with a 31.8% gain in boosting and a 9.1% reduction in noise-figure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Magnesium batteries have attracted considerable attention as a promising technology for future energy storage because of their capability to undergo multiple charging reactions. However, most oxide materials utilized as hosts for magnesium batteries do not perform well at room temperature or in nonaqueous electrolytes. Herein, a host material, Na0.04MoO3·(H2O)0.49 is successfully developed through the chemical reduction of alpha‐MoO3, which enables magnesium storage reaction in a 0.5 m Mg(ClO4)2/acetonitrile electrolyte at 25 °C. Electrochemical analysis reveals that the cathode material possesses a discharge capacity of 157.4 mAh g−1 at a 0.2 C rate. The Na0.04MoO3·(H2O)0.49 cathode material also exhibits a capacity retention of 93.4% after 100 cycles compared to the first cycle at a 2 C rate, with an average discharge voltage of −0.474 V versus activated carbon (≈2.16 V estimated discharge voltage vs Mg/Mg2+). The study findings demonstrate, for the first time, the potential of this material as a cathode for magnesium batteries at ambient temperatures and in nonaqueous electrolytes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

23. (NH4)2V7O16as a Cathode Material for Rechargeable Calcium-Ion Batteries: Structural Transformation and Co-Intercalation of Ammonium and Calcium Ions

Abstract

Calcium-ion batteries (CIBs) are viable alternatives to lithium-ion batteries. However, few cathode materials can reversibly intercalate Ca ions in anhydrous electrolytes. Most high-capacity materials contain crystal water, causing unwanted reactions on the anode. Herein, we report a crystal-water-free ammonium vanadate, (NH4)2V7O16, as a CIB host material. Synthesized via a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method, (NH4)2V7O16exhibits a layered structure with stacked V7O16layers and interlayer ammonium ions hydrogen-bonded to adjacent oxygen atoms. We demonstrate the reversible electrochemical intercalation of Ca2+ions into (NH4)2V7O16, achieving a reversible capacity of 89 mA h g–1and an average discharge voltage of ∼3.21 V vs Ca/Ca2+. Although (NH4)2V7O16displays poor rate capability and cycling performance, we reveal a unique reaction mechanism. During the initial charge, an irreversible structural change occurs, removing all ammonium ions and inserting a small amount of Ca ions, forming Ca0.37V7O16. This suggests an ion-exchange reaction between calcium and ammonium ions. Subsequent cycles exhibit the reversible coinsertion and coextraction of calcium and ammonium ions. We observe that V7O16lacks structural stability without interlayer cations. Our findings offer insight into electrochemical reaction processes in crystal-water-free layered materials containing interlayer ammonium ions, highlighting the importance of cointercalation between ammonium and carrier ions for reversible cycling.

37. Unraveling Polymorphic Crystal Structures of Li4SiS4for All-Solid-State Batteries: Enhanced Ionic Conductivity via Aliovalent Sb Substitution

Abstract

Safety concerns regarding organic-based liquid electrolytes in Li-ion batteries have led to extensive research on lithium-ion conductors. Despite cost-effectiveness, thio-silicate Li4SiS4has been overlooked owing to unclear crystallographic information. This study clarifies the crystal structures and electrochemical properties of two Li4SiS4polymorphs and their aliovalent substitution series, i.e., Li4–xSi1–xSbxS4. Our findings indicate that the polymorphs differ primarily in their SiS4tetrahedra stacking configurations, with the high-temperature phase being more orderly than the low-temperature phase. However, they exhibit similar ionic-transport properties, indicating that the tetrahedra stacking minimally affects Li-ion mobility. We found that the dense packing of Li in these structures restricts ion movement, necessitating the creation of Li vacancies through the aliovalent substitution of Sb5+for Si4+to enhance Li mobility. The substitution series Li4–xSi1–xSbxS4with x= 0.15 exhibited a 10-fold conductivity increase, signifying the influence of Li vacancies on ionic transport. Cyclic voltammetry confirmed the suitability of Li3.85Si0.85Sb0.15S4as a solid electrolyte for all-solid-state batteries. This study suggests that the ionic conductivity in Li4SiS4depends more on Li-ion concentration than on SiS4tetrahedra stacking, providing strategic insights for developing more efficient solid-state battery materials.
