Abstract

We demonstrate equidistribution of the lattice shape of cubic fields when ordered by discriminant, giving an estimate in the Eisenstein series spectrum with a lower order main term. The analysis gives a separate discussion of the contributions of reducible and irreducible binary cubic forms, following a method of Shintani. Abstract

We introduce the zeta function of the prehomogenous vector space of binary cubic forms, twisted by the real analytic Eisenstein series. We prove the meromorphic continuation of this zeta function and identify its poles and their residues. We also identify the poles and residues of the zeta function when restricted to irreducible binary cubic forms. This zeta function can be used to prove the equidistribution of the lattice shape of cubic rings.

33. Periodicity of Multidimensional Continued Fractions

Abstract

It is known that the continued fraction expansion of a real number is periodic if and only if the number is a quadratic irrational. In an attempt to generalize this phenomenon to other settings, Jun-Ichi Tamura and Shin-Ichi Yasutomi have developed a new algorithm for multidimensional continued fractions (Algebraic Jacobi-Perron algorithm) that involves cubic irrationals, and proved periodicity in some cubic number fields, such as $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt[3]{m^3+1})$ where $m\in\mathbb{Z}$, and $\mathbb{Q}(\delta_m)$ where $\delta_m$ is a root of $x^3-mx+1=0,\,\,m\in\mathbb{Z},\,\, m\geq3$ with the algorithm. In this paper, we study some other types of number fields that give rise to periodic continued fractions using the Algebraic Jacobi-Perron algorithm obtaining results for $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt[l]{m^l+1})$ for any positive integer $l$. Furthermore, we find that some families of cubic equations, such as $x^3+3ax^2+bx+ab-2a^3+1=0,\,b\leq3a^2-3,\,a,b\in\mathbb{Z}$, have roots that have periodic multidimensional continued fractions., Comment: 13 pages

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of individuals with amyloid levels below the threshold. To achieve this, we differentiated between two groups: those with global amyloid negativity but focal deposition [G(–)F(+)] and those without focal deposition [G(–)F(–)]. Materials and methods: A total of 2,677 participants were diagnosed with cognitive unimpairment (CU) or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). MRI-based regional centiloid (CL) values were used to establish threshold values for each brain region. After applying a cutoff of 20 rdcCL to identify amyloid positivity, participants who were globally amyloid-negative were grouped into three categories: those who showed focal amyloid uptake [G(–)F(+)], individuals without focal amyloid deposition but with relatively high CL(HC) levels comparable to those in the focal uptake group [G(–)F(–) HC)], and those with relatively low CL(LC) levels [G(–)F(–) LC]. We compared the neuropsychological test results and brain structural changes between these groups using ANCOVA. Results: The G(–)F(+) group demonstrated a lower cortical thickness (P < 0.001) than the G(–)F(–) HC group. In neuropsychological tests, the G(–)F(+) group exhibited lower the Seoul Verbal Learning Test delayed recall (SVLT-DR) and Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), and showed progressed clinical status in the clinical dementia rating–sum of boxes (CDR-SOB) compared to the G(–)F(–) HC group (P < 0.001). The subsequent sensitivity analyses confirmed the persistence of these findings. Conclusions: Individuals with focal amyloid deposition [G(–)F(+)] exhibited higher rates of cognitive impairment compared to patients with similar levels of amyloid, underscoring the importance of monitoring the progression of focal uptake, even when it remains below the amyloid threshold. Abstract

The redox activities of polyaniline (PANI) are hindered by the instability of pernigraniline salt (PS) state which degrades into oligo‐aniline. In this work, the use of protic additives is examined to mitigate capacity fading and increase utilization of PANI in nonaqueous electrolytes. The protic additive propylene glycol, with its hydrogen‐bonding capabilities, stabilizes the PS PANI and promotes reversible redox reactions, facilitating high capacity and an extended cycle lifetime for applications in metal ion supercapacitors. The use of this protic nonaqueous electrolyte in a PANI–zinc device results in an energy density of 255 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 1.8 kW kg−1 and a robust cycle lifetime of 3,850 charge/discharge cycles. The PANI at a high current density of 6.5 mA cm−2 reaches a capacity of 257 mAh g−1, equivalent to 87% of the its theoretical capacity, showcasing the effectiveness of the protic additive in improving both capacity and cycle life in electrochemical supercapacitors. Abstract

INTRODUCTION: We investigated the prevalence of amyloid beta (Aβ) positivity (+) and cognitive trajectories in Koreans and non‐Hispanic Whites (NHWs). METHODS: We included 5121 Koreans from multiple centers across South Korea and 929 NHWs from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Participants underwent Aβ positron emission tomography and were categorized into cognitively unimpaired (CU), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and dementia stages. Age, sex, education, and apolipoprotein E. genotype were adjusted using multivariable logistic regression and stabilized inverse probability of treatment weights based on the propensity scores to mitigate imbalances in these variables. RESULTS: The prevalence of Aβ+ was lower in CU Koreans than in CU NHWs (adjusted odds ratio 0.60). Aβ+ Koreans showed a faster cognitive decline than Aβ+ NHWs in the CU (B = −0.314, p =.004) and MCI stages (B = −0.385, p <.001). DISCUSSION: Ethnic characteristics of Aβ biomarkers should be considered in research and clinical application of Aβ‐targeted therapies in diverse populations.
