Foundation: Type 1 diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood. The progressively longer survival of diabetic children is associated with an increase in the prevalence of complications. Their metabolic control prevents acute and chronic complications.Objective: to determine the behavior of risk factors and the degree of metabolic control in diabetic patients older than 8 years.Methods: A descriptive study was carried out at the Paquito González Cueto Hospital in Cienfuegos, between September 2021 and September 2022. The sample consisted of 74 patients over 8 years of age, taken from the universe of 103 pediatric patients diagnosed as diabetic in the province. The studied variables were: sex, age, nutritional assessment, Tanner stage, time of disease evolution, symptoms of decompensation, cholesterol value, glycemia value, glycosylated hemoglobin value and metabolic control.Results: The female sex predominated (56.7%), patients in the age group of 11-14 years (56.8%) and normal weight (70.3%). The most observed range of disease evolution was 1-4 years (59.5%). Delayed pubertal development was present in 20.2% of cases. All patients had cholesterol levels below 6.5 mmol/l (100%). Glycosylated hemoglobin was in the range of 6.6-10% in 64.9%. Inadequate metabolic control was identified in 83.8% of cases.Conclusions: Adequate metabolic control guarantees normal blood sugar and cholesterol levels. More than 50% of the patients analyzed were of normal weight and had no associated risk factors.

Foundation: suicidal behavior is an important public health problem, Cuba has included the topic in the study plans to improve its care. However, it is noted that there are learning needs for its care by specialists in Comprehensive General Medicine.Objective: to identify the Comprehensive General Medicine specialists’ learning needs for the care of suicidal behavior.Methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional observational study was carried out in the Cienfuegos province from January to December 2022. A sample of 379 professionals was selected through simple random sampling. For the diagnosis, empirical methods were applied, validated by expert criteria and a pilot test.Results: the instruments showed that 100% of the Comprehensive General Medicine specialists are unaware of the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Suicidal Behavior actions; they presented problems in the quality of the follow-up of suicidal behavior and its identification as a priority health problem. Between 98 and 100% considered their knowledge of suicidal behavior to be insufficient and evaluated their performance as improvable or not adequate.Conclusions: the Comprehensive General Medicine specialists present learning needs for the care of suicidal behavior in terms of: health promotion and prevention, actions of the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Suicidal Behavior, its identification as a priority health problem to plan promotion, prevention and rehabilitation actions at the individual, family and community level.

Work-related quality of life (WRQoL) was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for women. This study sought to evaluate the impacts of COVID-19 on Brazilians’ WRQoL from a gender-based perspective. A sample of 326 participants, 187 women and 139 men, completed an online survey containing the Fear of COVID-19 scale, the Negative Impacts of COVID-19 scale, and the Work-Related Quality of Life scale. t-tests compared the results between genders. Pearson correlation tested the association between the variables. Linear regressions assessed the predictive factors of WRQoL. Women reported significantly higher levels of COVID-19-related fears, and lower levels of all seven dimensions of WRQoL, with significant differences for overall WRQoL, well-being, career satisfaction, and control over work. A negative correlation was found among overall WRQoL, fear of COVID-19, and the negative impact of COVID-19. Gender, fear, and negative impacts of COVID-19 were significant predictors of general well-being (explaining 24.6% of variance); regarding the seven dimensions evaluated, gender explained two of them, fear of COVID-19 explained four, and the negative impact of COVID-19 explained six of them. These results contribute to the analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on increasing gender inequality in a manner unfavorable to women in the Brazilian organizational context.

Abstract. Domestic Violence (DV) in the congregation is an unexpected event, but it still happens. This study aimed to examine the implementation of pastoral counseling in the congregation of the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT) Maranatha Oebufu in Kupang City Classis, so that the congregation council can improve pastoral services for victims and perpetrators. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a narrative approach. The result of the study indicates that pastoral counseling activities by the church for congregations experiencing domestic violence are ineffective because they only reach understanding and are not continued with pastoral actions needed by victims and perpetrators. Abstrak. Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) dalam jemaat merupakan peristiwa yang tidak diharapkan, namun tetap terjadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pelaksanaan konseling pastoral pada jemaat Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) Maranatha Oebufu di Klasis Kota Kupang, agar majelis jemaat dapat menyempurnakan pelayanan pastoral bagi korban dan pelaku. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan naratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan konseling pastoral oleh gereja terhadap jemaat yang mengalami KDRT kurang efektif karena hanya sampai pada pemahaman dan tidak dilanjutkan dengan aksi pastoral yang dibutuhkan oleh korban maupun pelaku.

Prior research has shown that social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions offer promise for supporting young children's outcomes, but implementation problems are frequent, especially in low-resource contexts. This study describes the adaptation and efficacy of a new, classroom-based SEL intervention for children aged 3 to 6 years in early childhood education programs in Brazil. SEL Kernels are simple, brief, targeted SEL activities that can be flexibly implemented by teachers. Research Findings: Results of a quasi-experimental study using teacher reports with 314 Brazilian children (164 male, 150 female) who did (n = 205) and did not (n = 109) receive SEL Kernels suggested intervention-related improvements in teachers' reports of child behavior problems (d = 0.65) and emotion regulation (d = 1.12) in this setting. Practice or Policy: Implications of this work -- including the importance of teacher buy-in and implementation -- are discussed.

La cultura es el resultado de la evolución de las costumbres, las tradiciones y las experiencias de los seres humanos a lo largo de la historia. Por ello, la conformación de las identidades nacionales distintivas entre las regiones y entre los países en menor escala, posee al elemento cultural en común, pero a la vez diferenciador. En consecuencia, para los Estados, esta constituye un elemento clave en su política exterior, debido a las potencialidades que brinda para impulsar, fomentar y preservar las relaciones interestatales, así como la comunicación entre las personas. En este sentido, la diplomacia cultural afianza su rol en las relaciones internacionales modernas, debido a que, más allá de responder a la política exterior de una nación, también permite que múltiples actores se involucren en la difusión de la cultura. Este trabajo profundiza en la Iniciativa de la Franja y la Ruta, promovida por la República Popular China. Si bien la Iniciativa posee a la economía como centro de sus acciones, la tecnología, la protección del medio ambiente, el fomento del entendimiento mutuo y la cultura son elementos claves que la caracterizan.

O texto literário não pode ser visto como subterfúgio para o trabalho com aspectos gramaticais ou interpretação textual. No entanto, para que isso ocorra é importante pensar em novas práticas de letramento literário e reorganizar o espaço e tempo de ensino da Literatura na sala de aula, promovendo momentos de contato com os livros literários para a formação social de leitores. Destarte, o presente artigo, de caráter metodológico bibliográfico e documental, tem por objetivo congregar discussões sobre o ensino da Literatura nos documentos oficiais como PCNEM (1999), PCN+ (2002), OCNs (2006), BNCC (2018) e DRC/MT (2021), bem como apontar a necessidade de o texto literário ocupar espaço privilegiado na sala de aula. Para dar suporte às nossas discussões baseamos em autores como como Regina Zilberman (1982), Marisa Lajolo (1982), Vieira (2008), Fontes (2018), Cereja (2004) e nos documentos curriculares oficiais.

Foundation: the McKenzie method is an examination and treatment system that places self-treatment at the center of the therapeutic strategy; it is a simple and easy way to reduce spinal pain, as well as quickly restore function and independence. Objective: to determine the McKenzie’s method physical exercises therapeutic effectiveness in patients with cervical vertebral pain. Methods: pre-experimental study, with pre-test and post-test, carried out in 64 patients with cervical vertebral pain of non-traumatic origin, who attended the Physiatrist consultation at the Julio Castillo and Camilo Cienfuegos polyclinics, in Chambas municipality, Ciego de Ávila province, from 2022 to 2023. The McNemar non-parametric test and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were applied. Results: a greater number of patients were concentrated in the age groups from 30 to 39 years old (34.40%) and from 40 to 49 years old (39.10%). The female sex prevailed, with 71.90%. The most frequent etiologies were osteoarthritis and inadequate posture; and as the predominant symptom, pain radiating to the upper limbs. Furthermore, pressure pain predominated in all patients. Most required more than five treatment sessions to initiate pain relief. The pain intensity varied from severe to moderate in 82.8% of the cases, to mild-no pain in more than half of the patients (84.40%). Conclusions: the McKenzie Method was effective in reducing the pain intensity in patients with cervical vertebral pain.

El presente trabajo de investigación brinda un panorama acerca de las concepciones que tiene el estudiante universitario sobre la actividad de toma de notas durante la clase y cuál es la relación de esta práctica con sus aprendizaje. De acuerdo con los resultados los estudiantes señalan que las notas de clase tienen dos funciones: como material de estudio para superar las evaluaciones y como material de consulta durante su proceso de formación. Respecto a las prácticas de anotación, pese a que los estudiantes mencionan el uso de procesos complejos durante la elaboración de notas de clase como la incorporación de esquemas o paráfrasis e incluso reelaboración, estas parecen centrarse en la recuperación de algunos elementos de información. En relación con las prácticas de estudio, las estrategias memorísticas predominan sobre aquellas que proponen el aprendizaje a partir de procesos reflexivos.

Objective: To validate and assess the reproducibility of the ISAAC Written Allergic Rhinitis Questionnaire (WARQ) for children aged between 6 and 7 years by telephone contact. Methods: Observational study through interviews with guardians of children aged 6–7 years using the ISAAC Allergic Rhinitis (AR) module questionnaire in three different phases separated by 2 weeks each: telephone interviews in the first and third contacts and face-to-face interviews, with the same guardian of telephone interviews, in the second contact. Reproducibility was estimated using the Kappa index and validation using the sensitivity and specificity coefficients. Results: Data from 94 children (48 from the allergic rhinitis Control Group ‒ CG) were analyzed. Reproducibility showed perfect agreement (100%) for the question number 1 – Which refers to the symptoms of AR, ever: “Has your child ever had a problem with sneezing or a runny or a blocked nose when he/she did not have a cold or the flu?” and for the question number 2 – Which refers to current symptoms of AR: “In the past 12 months, has your child had a problem with sneezing or a runny or a blocked nose when he/she did not have a cold or the flu?” A strong agreement was also observed for the question number 3 (κ = 0.871) – it defines the presence of comorbidity of allergic rhinoconjuntivitis “In the past 12 months, has this nose problem been accompanied by itchy-watery eyes?” The validation showed high specificity (≥76.7%) and sensitivity (≥98%) for all questions, except for the ones related to seasonality and intensity of symptoms. Conclusions: Our results showed that the ISAAC AR module questionnaire by telephone interviews has good reproducibility and high agreement with the clinical diagnosis of AR. It may be an appropriate alternative tool in epidemiological studies of childhood AR, especially in periods of social isolation, such as Coronavirus pandemic. Level of evidence: Cohort Study. Introdução Nas últimas décadas, alguns medicamentos foram desenvolvidos para o tratamento da Doença Macular Relacionada à Idade (DMRI), tendo como alvo principal o bloqueio do fator de crescimento do endotélio vascular (VEGF). No Brasil, o uso de anti-VEGF foi incorporado ao SUS, em 2018, para uso em pacientes com DMRI exsudativa, com melhor AV corrigida igual ou superior a 20/400 e igual ou inferior a 20/3. Apesar da eficácia da terapia ter sido consistentemente demonstrada em ensaios clínicos, existem lacunas acerca da efetividade do uso da terapia anti-VEGF no mundo real. Assim, este estudo avaliou a efetividade dos medicamentos Bevacizumabe ou Aflibercepte em pacientes do SUS com DMRI. Métodos Estudo retrospectivo longitudinal, com dados de prontuário de 54 pacientes com DMRI que fizeram uso de Bevacizumabe ou Aflibercepte. Os desfechos em saúde utilizados foram as medidas de acuidade visual (AV) e de espessura central da retina obtidas pelo OCT. Pacientes com AV < 20/400 foram denominados como “pior visão”. Resultados Dentre os 60 olhos, o medicamento utilizado com maior frequência foi o Bevacizumabe (55,0%). A primeira injeção intraocular foi utilizada, em média (DP) aos 74.7 (9.4) anos e foram aplicadas, em média, 6.4 (4.3) injeções. Não foi observada diferença (p=0.262) entre o percentual de resposta satisfatória de acordo com o uso de Bevacizumabe (16/33; 48.5%) ou Aflibercepte (17/27; 63.0%). Os desfechos de AV segundo Snellen, ganho de letras e espessura retiniana demonstraram melhora ou estabilidade em 55%, 32.8% e 78.3% dos casos, respectivamente. Não houve diferença significativa entre o número médio (DP) de injeções anti-VEGF aplicadas entre os grupos com e sem resposta terapêutica (5.8 [3.7] vs. 7.0 [4.8]; p = 0.315), nem no tempo decorrido entre a primeira e a última injeção, em dias, nos grupos com e sem resposta (274.3 [317.1] vs. 434.8 [514.6]; p = 0.262). Observou-se uma tendência de melhor resposta à medida que a classificação da acuidade visual piorava (ptend= 0.062). Entre os olhos classificados como “pior visão” (AV

Contexto: A transição do ensino secundário para o ensino superior gera novos desafios, nem sempre fáceis de gerir. Neste sentido, fatores como a resiliência e o suporte social percebido podem facilitar este processo. Objetivo: Analisar a relação entre o suporte social percebido e a resiliência na adaptação ao ensino superior. Métodos: Participaram 207 estudantes do ensino superior, 154 dos quais do género feminino, com idades compreendidas entre 17 e os 39 anos (M = 19,63; DP = 3,53). Para a recolha de dados, foram aplicados o Questionário de Adaptação ao ensino superior, Social Support Appraisal Scale e Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Resultados: O suporte social percebido e a resiliência relacionaram-se positivamente com uma boa adaptação do estudante ao ensino superior. A resiliência, apresentou correlação positiva e significativa com três das dimensões de Adaptação ao ensino superior: Adaptação Social, Adaptação Académica e Desenvolvimento da Carreira. Todas as dimensões do suporte social percebido se relacionaram positivamente com a adaptação ao ensino superior. A análise de regressão linear revelou que o suporte social percebido de amigos e professores é preditor de uma melhor adaptação ao ensino superior. Conclusões: A resiliência e o suporte social percebido apresentam-se como relevantes para uma boa adaptação dos estudantes ao ensino superior, sendo o suporte social por parte dos professores e dos amigos particularmente significativo nesta adaptação. É essencial continuar a investigação nesta área para determinar a melhor forma de intervenção psicossocial no apoio aos estudantes durante este período.

In this paper, we discuss technologies and approaches based on Knowledge Graphs (KGs) that enable the management of inline human interventions in AI-assisted manufacturing processes in Industry 5.0 under potentially changing conditions in order to maintain or improve the overall system performance. Whereas KG-based systems are commonly based on a static view with their structure fixed at design time, we argue that the dynamic challenge of inline Human-AI (H-AI) collaboration in industrial settings calls for a late shaping design principle. In contrast to early shaping, which determines the system's behavior at design time in a fine granular manner, late shaping is a coarse-to-fine approach that leaves more space for fine-tuning, adaptation and integration of human intelligence at runtime. In this context we discuss approaches and lessons learned from the European manufacturing project Teaming.AI, https://www.teamingai-project.eu/, addressing general challenges like the modeling of domain expertise with particular focus on vertical knowledge integration, as well as challenges linked to an industrial KG of choice, such as its dynamic population and the late shaping of KG embeddings as the foundation of relational machine learning models which have emerged as an effective tool for exploiting graph-structured data to infer new insights.

Introducción: el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana (VIH) se descubrió en 1983. Forma parte de la familia Retroviridae. El desarrollo de la terapia antirretroviral de gran actividad (TARGA), constituye uno de los progresos más relevantes en el enfrentamiento a la epidemia del VIH/sida. Entre los métodos de evolución de la enfermedad se encuentra la carga viral y el conteo de linfocitos TCD4. Objetivo: caracterizar los niveles de carga viral plasmática de VIH en pacientes con tratamiento antirretroviral de Villa Clara. Método: Se realizó una investigación descriptiva transversal; en el laboratorio de Carga Viral del Centro Provincial de Higiene Epidemiología y Microbiología de Villa Clara en el periodo diciembre 2021 a diciembre 2022. Resultados: Entre los pacientes de la investigación fueron los hombres entre 41-50 años los preponderantes con 57(22.8%). Según la orientación sexual, son los homosexuales, los que predominan en la investigación, con 157(62.8%). Hubo un predominio de los pacientes en tratamiento con Tenofovir, Lamivudine, Dolutegravir(TLD) 167(66.8%). La línea de tendencia se encontraba entre los que tenían 400 y 500 cel/mm3. La carga viral se pudo observar con una tendencia de valores cercanos a 0, suprimida en el 91.1% de los pacientes en tratamiento con TLD. Conclusiones: Se observó un predominio de los pacientes con carga viral no detectada y sin inmunodeficiencia. La mayoría de los que recibieron tratamiento con TLD, tenían la carga viral suprimida.

ABSTRACT Moringa oleifera Lam. is a tropical tree that belongs to the Moringaceae family and is popularly known worldwide for its multiple applications. This study aimed to evaluate the genetic variability of individuals from the Moringa Genebank of Embrapa Tabuleiros Costeiros, Sergipe state, Brazil. The Moringa Genebank comprises 25 accessions, represented by 177 genotypes, of which 18 were transferred in from an exchanged germplasm of the University of Florida, USA, and the others were from different states in Brazil. Leaves of each genotype were collected for DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis using 20 Inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR) primers. A total of 141 bands were amplified, and 100 % were polymorphic. The average expected heterozygosity (He) and Shannon's index were 0.11 and 0.16, respectively. The highest genetic divergence was found between the M4 and M18 accessions, both from Florida, USA, whereas the closest pair of accessions was M23 and M24, both from Brazil. The cluster analysis obtained through the Structure software divided moringa genotypes into two groups. These results suggest low genetic diversity between the accessions in the Moringa Genebank. Therefore, the introduction of new accessions in the Moringa GeneBank is essential to increasing the genetic variability of the species to ensure its conservation and improvement.

Accurate knowledge of geographic ranges of species is essential for effective conservation management. Species with large distributions and good connectivity are presumed to be resilient to adverse localized/regional conditions, whereas those with small ranges and, thus, smaller population sizes are more likely to be vulnerable. The rich benthic assemblages across the Southern Ocean are generally considered “Antarctic” with some input from South America contributing to diversity on the sub-Antarctic island shelves. However, molecular work over the past two decades is challenging the paradigm of a general Antarctic benthic fauna, with evidence mounting for assemblages being regionally unique in terms of genetic diversity, regardless of formal taxonomic species composition. The widely distributed brittle star, Amphiura belgicae, is one element of the Southern Ocean benthic assemblage that has a complex historical taxonomic background hinting that it may in reality be a complex of species, each with small geographic range and little connectivity. Our study identified deep genetic divisions between geographically isolated populations, particularly between those on the Patagonian shelf and elsewhere. Indeed, populations on the Patagonian shelf were more closely related to the sympatric sister species A. eugeniae than to any other Southern Ocean population. We compare our data with a study of Ophiuroglypha lymani from similar collections, highlighting that both show highly regionalized populations, particularly on Island shelves, and both share the curious phenomenon of a presumed outgroup species being an element of the ingroup. We suggest that the isolated populations of both these species are following distinct evolutionary and ecological trajectories and that both should be treated as species complexes.
