The Black Lake rockslide is located on the east wall of an open-pit mine initially operated by LAB Chrysotile near Thetford Mines, Quebec. Movements were observed in July 2012 when a volume of 2.0 x [10.sup.7] [m.sup.3] was mobilized, destroying a large portion of Highway 112. Mining operations ceased in 2012, causing the complete shutdown of the pumping system whose goal was to prevent the rise of water level in the pit. As the water level increases in the pit, it is essential to determine the potential of tsunami generation by possible partially submerged rockslides and to understand the potential impacts. A series of possible scenarios have been analysed with regard to velocity and acceleration of the potential rockslide as well as the corresponding wave generation and inundation. Results from the simulation show that when the factor of safety of the global slope is less than unity, inundation would not reach the potentially vulnerable infrastructures. Maximum wave height will vary as a function of the filling of the lake, and the lower wave height relative to water depth will happen when the lake is completely filled.Key words: landslide-generated tsunami, partially submerged landslide, numerical modeling, open-pit mine, active rockslide. - Abstract
Developers, designers, engineers, and creators can no longer afford to pass responsibility for identity and data security onto others. Web developers who don't understand how to obscure data in transmission, for instance, can open security flaws on a site without realizing it. With this practical guide, you'll learn how and why everyone working on a system needs to ensure that users and data are protected.Authors Jonathan LeBlanc and Tim Messerschmidt provide a deep dive into the concepts, technology, and programming methodologies necessary to build a secure interface for data and identity—without compromising usability. You'll learn how to plug holes in existing systems, protect against viable attack vectors, and work in environments that sometimes are naturally insecure.Understand the state of web and application security todayDesign security password encryption, and combat password attack vectorsCreate digital fingerprints to identify users through browser, device, and paired device detectionBuild secure data transmission systems through OAuth and OpenID ConnectUse alternate methods of identification for a second factor of authenticationHarden your web applications against attackCreate a secure data transmission system using SSL/TLS, and synchronous and asynchronous cryptography

- Abstract
On the north shore of the St Lawrence Estuary (Québec, Canada), near the Betsiamites river delta, a large sub-aerial submarine landslide complex was mapped using multi-beam bathymetry and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data. Previous analysis of this landslide complex revealed that, since 7250 cal years BP, at least four different landsliding events occurred to form the present morphology, in which over 2 km3of material have been mobilized. The 7.25 cal ka BP landslide is of particular interest here: this landslide is entirely submarine and mobilized about 1.3 km3of material, deposited over an area of 54 km2, which make this landslide the largest identified on the St Lawrence estuary seafloor. This landslide showed a runout distance of about 15 km. Landslide-generated tsunamis may be triggered by such a landslide, where a large volume of material is mobilized in a short time. Kinematic analysis of this landslide was previously performed, and here we use these analyses in order to perform tsunami wave generation and propagation modelling. It is shown in this analysis that, even if the mobilized volume is very high and there is a long runout, the tsunami generated is small with tsunami wave amplitudes of <1.5 m, except in the vicinity of the landslide. The highest tide elevation in this part of the St Lawrence Estuary is about 5.5 m, so the impact of such a tsunami wave may be limited.

The aim of this work is to develop a process, which enables to blend polyamide in molten state with others polymers, directly at the outlet of a polycondensation reactor. Contrary to currently industrial processes, no remelting stage is needed in this one. The study has been carried out with polyamide 66 / polyethylene glycol blends (products with very different viscosities) and with polyamide 66 / ethylene propylene blends (products with similar viscosities), with or without polypropylene-graft-maleic-anhydride as interfacial agent. The first part of this work deals with the characterization of the dispersions obtained for these blends when their elaborations are carried out using conventional processes. Only few studies are available on blends, which exhibit a large difference between components viscosity. This work led us to develop a model to correlate, in this case, the dispersed phase size to the main operating conditions of each processes. The second part is dedicated to the design and the realization of an experimental installation, which is composed of polycondensation plant equipped, at the outlet of reactors, with a blending device based on static mixers technology. Its operation has been tested and experiments have been carried out in order to study the influence of the different processing parameters on blends morphology. The comparison of the results with those previously obtained using conventional processes allowed then to precise the performances and the limits of the process developed in this study; Ces travaux de recherche portent sur le développement d’un procédé permettant de mélanger, directement en sortie de polycondensation, du polyamide fondu avec d’autres polymères immiscibles en tant qu’additifs.

The article elucidates the character of Martin Heidegger's historicism, through a reading of certain relevant sections of Heidegger's magnum opus. It states that authenticity leaves room for human thought to operate independently of the historical situation. It reflects that historicism, the idea that all human thought is a product of its time and place, dissolves philosophy according to Strauss and other scholars.
