Objectives: The association between non-genetic risk factors and cervical cancer (CC) remains controversial and unclear. This umbrella review was conducted to evaluate and synthesize previously published systematic reviews and meta-analyses related to non-genetic factors and CC risk.Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE to identify studies investigating the association between extragenetic factors and CC risk. For each article, we calculated the summary effect size and the 95% confidence interval. Specific criteria were used to classify the association into four levels: strong, highly suggestive, suggestive, or weak.Results: A total of 18 meta-analyses of different risk factors for CC were examined; these studies covered risk factors related to diet, lifestyle, reproduction, disease, viral infection, microorganisms, and parasites. Oral contraceptive use and Chlamydia trachomatis infection were shown to increase CC risk, and this was supported by strong evidence. Additionally, there were four risk factors supported by highly suggestive evidence and six risk factors supported by suggestive evidence.Conclusion: In conclusion, there is a strong association between oral contraceptive use, Chlamydia trachomatis infection, and increased CC risk.

An increasing number of microorganisms are being identified as pathogens for diseases in macroalgae, but the species composition of bacteria related to Caulerpa lentillifera, fresh edible green macroalgae worldwide, remains largely unclear. The bacterial communities associated with C. lentillifera were investigated by high-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing, and the bacterial diversities in washed and control groups were compared in this study. A total of 4,388 operational taxonomic units were obtained from all the samples, and the predominant prokaryotic phyla were Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Planctomycetes, Cyanobacteria, Actinobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, Chloroflexi, and Acidobacteria in C. lentillifera. The bacterial diversity changed with seasons and showed an increasing trend of diversity with the rising temperature in C. lentillifera. There were slight reductions in the abundance and diversity of bacteria after washing with tap water for 2 h, indicating that only parts of the bacterial groups could be washed out, and hidden dangers in C. lentillifera still exist. Although the reduction in the abundance of some bacteria revealed a positive significance of washing C. lentillifera with tap water on food safety, more effective cleaning methods still need to be explored.

Sirtuins (SIRTs) are nicotine adenine dinucleotide(+)-dependent histone deacetylases regulating critical signaling pathways in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and are involved in numerous biological processes. Currently, seven mammalian homologs of yeast Sir2 named SIRT1 to SIRT7 have been identified. Increasing evidence has suggested the vital roles of seven members of the SIRT family in health and disease conditions. Notably, this protein family plays a variety of important roles in cellular biology such as inflammation, metabolism, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, etc., thus, it is considered a potential therapeutic target for different kinds of pathologies including cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and other conditions. Moreover, identification of SIRT modulators and exploring the functions of these different modulators have prompted increased efforts to discover new small molecules, which can modify SIRT activity. Furthermore, several randomized controlled trials have indicated that different interventions might affect the expression of SIRT protein in human samples, and supplementation of SIRT modulators might have diverse impact on physiological function in different participants. In this review, we introduce the history and structure of the SIRT protein family, discuss the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of seven members of the SIRT protein family, elaborate on the regulatory roles of SIRTs in human disease, summarize SIRT inhibitors and activators, and review related clinical studies.

The aim of this study was to find the application value of selective polyadenylation in immune cell infiltration, biological transcription function and risk assessment of survival and prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The processed original mRNA expression data of LUAD were downloaded, and the expression profiles of 594 patient samples were collected. The (APA) events in TCGA-NA-SEQ data were evaluated by polyadenylation site use Index (PDUI) values, and the invasion of stromal cells and immune cells and tumor purity were calculated to group and select the differential genes. Lasso regression and stratified analysis were used to examine the role of risk scores in predicting patient outcomes. The study also used the GDSC database to predict the chemotherapeutic sensitivity of each tumor sample and used a regression method to obtain an IC50 estimate for each specific chemotherapeutic drug treatment. Then CIBERSORT algorithm was used to conduct Spearman correlation analysis, immune regulatory factor analysis and TIDE immune system function analysis for gene expression level and immune cell content. Finally, the Kaplan-Meier curve was used to analyze the correlation between stromal score and the immune score of LUAD. In this study, APA's LUAD risk score prognostic model was constructed. KM survival analysis showed that immune score affected the prognosis of LUAD patients ( P = 0.027) but the matrix score was not statistically significant ( P = 0.1). We extracted 108 genes with APA events from 827 different genes and based on PUDI clustering and heat map, the survival rate of patients in the four groups was significantly different ( P = 0.05). Multiple omics studies showed that risk score was significantly positively correlated with Macrophages M0, T cells Follicular helper, B cells naive and NK cells resting. It is significantly negatively correlated with dendritic cells resting, mast cells resting, monocyte, T cells CD4 memory resting and B cells memory. We further explored the relationship between the expression of immunosuppressor genes and risk score and found that ADORA2A, BTLA, CD160, CD244, CD274, CD96, CSF1R and CTLA4 genes were highly correlated with the risk score. Selective poly adenylation plays an important role in the development and progression of LUAD, immune invasion, tumor cell invasion and metastasis and biological transcription, and affects the survival and prognosis of LUAD patients.

Green tea polyphenols (GTPs) have been shown to exhibit diverse beneficial effects against a variety of diseases. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is one of the most frequent causes of drug-induced liver injury. In the current study, we aimed to investigate the protective effect of GTP on APAP-induced liver injury in mice and the underlying mechanisms involved. Male C57BL/6J mice were treated orally with different doses of GTP (37.5, 75, or 150 mg/kg) 4 h after APAP overdose (400 mg/kg) and continuously given every 8 h until sacrificed at 4, 12, 20, and 48 h after the first treatment of GTP. Survival rate and histological and biochemical assessments were performed to evaluate the APAP-induced liver injury. Protein expression of multiple drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters was measured to demonstrate the possible mechanisms involved. Our results revealed that administration of different doses of GTP significantly alleviated APAP-induced liver injury by improving the survival rate, hepatocellular necrosis, and ALT/AST/GSH levels after APAP overdose (400 mg/kg). The protein expression of APAP-induced drug transporters and metabolizing enzymes was mostly induced by GTP treatment, which was followed by reduction in drug transporters at the later time points. The current study collectively demonstrated that GTP protects against APAP-induced liver injury, possibly through regulating drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters after APAP overdose.

Background: The true incidence of acute gastrointestinal illness in China is underrecognized by surveillance systems. The aims of this study were to estimate the incidence and prevalence of self-reported AGI in the community of China, and to investigate sociodemographic and epidemiological determinants of AGI.Methods: We conducted a 12-months cross-sectional population-based survey in eight provinces of China during 2014-2015. The survey determined the prevalence and incidence of acute gastrointestinal illness (AGI) in the total permanent resident population in China according to the census of the population in 2010. The random multilevel population sample was stratified by geographic, population, and socioeconomic status. We used a recommended case definition of AGI, with diarrhea（three loose or watery stools）and/or any vomiting in a four-week recall. A face-to-face survey was conducted by selecting the member in the household with the most recent birthday. Results: Among 56,704 sampled individuals, 948 (1,134 person-time) fulfilled the case definition; 98.5% reported diarrhea. This corresponds to 2.3% (95% CI:1.9%-2.8%) of an overall standardized four-week prevalence and 0.3 (95% CI: 0.23-0.34) episodes per person-year of annual adjusted incidence rate. There was no significant difference between males and females. The incidence rates were higher mong urban residents, and in the spring and summer. In the whole study period, 50% of the cases sought medical care, of which 3.9% were hospitalized and 14.3% provided a biological sample for laboratory identification of the causative agent. Children aged 0–4 and young adults aged 15–24, people living in rural areas and people who traveled frequently had higher prevalence of AGI. Conclusion: Results showed that AGI represents a substantial burden in China, and will contribute to the estimation of the global burden of AGI. Complemented with data on the etiologies of AGI, these estimates will form the basis to estimate the burden of foodborne diseases in China.

BackgroundTo quantitatively evaluate the evidence of duration and quality of sleep as measured by multiple health outcomes.MethodsThis review is registered with PROSPERO, number CRD42021235587. We systematically searched three databases from inception until November 15, 2020. For each meta-analysis, the summary effect size using fixed and random effects models, the 95% confidence interval, and the 95% prediction interval were assessed; heterogeneity, evidence of small-study effects, and excess significance bias were also estimated. According to the above metrics, we evaluated the credibility of each association.ResultsA total of 85 meta-analyses with 36 health outcomes were included in the study. We observed highly suggestive evidence for an association between long sleep and an increased risk of all-cause mortality. Moreover, suggestive evidence supported the associations between long sleep and 5 increased risk of health outcomes (stroke, dyslipidaemia, mortality of coronary heart disease, stroke mortality, and the development or death of stroke); short sleep and increased risk of overweight and/or obesity; poor sleep quality and increased risk of diabetes mellitus and gestational diabetes mellitus.ConclusionsOnly the evidence of the association of long sleep with an increased risk of all-cause mortality was graded as highly suggestive. In this paper, a series of light-emitting copper(I) iodide inorganic–organic hybrid clusters has been synthesized, and they are 0D-Cu2I2(fmp)4 (1, fmp = 3-fluoro-5-methyl-pyridine), 0D-Cu2I2(iq)4 (2, iq = isoquinoline), 0D-Cu2I2(ni)4 (3, ni = nicotinonitrile). They are all molecular clusters with Cu2I2 rhomboid dimer core which is the result of steric hindrance of organic ligands. The emissions of these compounds range from green to red in the solid state. The band gaps and emission energies of these compounds could be tuned by selecting different organic ligands. These compounds are solution processable and could be coated onto various substrates as luminescent inorganic–organic hybrid coating materials.

The semiconductor industry has witnessed a continuous decrease in the size of logic, memory and other computer chip components since its birth over half a century ago. The shrinking of features has to a large extent been enabled by the development of advanced photolithographic techniques. This review focuses on one important component of lithography, the resist, which is essentially a thin film that can generate a specific feature after an exposure and development process. Smaller features require an even more precisely focused photon, electron or ion beam with which to expose the resist. The promising light source for next generation lithography that will enable downscaling patterns to be written is extreme ultraviolet radiation (EUV), 92 eV (13.5 nm). The review mainly focuses on inorganic resists, as they have several advantages compared with traditional organic resists. In order to satisfy the throughput requirement in high volume semiconductor manufacturing, metal oxide resists with high resolution and sensitivity have been proposed and developed for EUV lithography. The progress of various inorganic resists is introduced and their properties have been summarized.

By using pyrazine derivatives, three different types of copper(I) iodide based inorganic–organic hybrid structures, 1D-CuI(2-mo-pz) (1, 2-mo-pz = 2-methoxy-pyrazine), 2D-CuI(2,3-dm-pz)0.5 (2, 2,3-dm-pz = 2,3-dimethyl-pyrazine), and 2D-Cu2I2(2,5-dm-pz)2 (3, 2,5-dm-pz = 2,5-dimethyl-pyrazine), have been obtained by using a slow-diffusion method. Single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that these hybrid structures are a one-dimensional (1D) staircase chain based structure, two-dimensional (2D) staircase-chain based structure, and 2D rhomboid dimer based structure, respectively. All of the three compounds show photoluminescence, with the internal quantum yield (IQY) as high as 88.2% for 1. This work provides evidence that for this type of hybrid materials, the structure of the inorganic module could be determined by the selection of the organic ligands and that the substituted group on the organic ligands can influence the luminescence efficiency of the hybrid structures.

Chitin is the second-most abundant bioresource and widely used in the food, agricultural, biomedicine, and other industries. However, under the mutual restriction of extraction cost and environmental protection, it is relatively difficult to prepare chitin from natural sources by pure separation. The aim of this study is to extract chitin from fresh crab shell waste by decalcification (DC) and deproteinization (DP) using glutamic acid and alkaline protease. The optimum technological conditions for DC and DP were as follows: (1) 5% (w/v) glutamic acid solution was used as decalcifying agent, the ratio of material to liquid was 1:10 (m/v), and the ash content in chitin was 0.83 ± 0.027% after decalcification at 75° C for 12 h. (2) Using alkaline protease as enzymatic hydrolyzer, 1500 U of alkaline protease was added per gram of crab shell. Under the conditions of material-liquid ratio of 1:10 (m/v) and pH value of hydrolysate of 9.0, N content in chitin was 6.63 ± 0.10% after 6 h of enzymatic hydrolysis at 55° C. And the extraction rate of chitin was 92.25 ± 0.51%. As a decalcifying agent, glutamic acid could be recycled with a recovery rate of 77.42 ± 2.16%. Calcium carbonate in crab shell was converted into calcium hydrogen phosphate by calcium glutamate, and protein into amino acids and polypeptides, which could be used as feed additives. The "glutamic acid-enzymolysis" for extracting chitin from crab shell is a relatively closed process, which has the advantages of mild reaction, greatly reducing the discharge of three wastes and high comprehensive utilization rate of raw materials.

Numerous studies have evaluated the effects of dietary protein on specific health outcomes. The aim of our umbrella review was to summarize the existing evidence between the intake of dietary proteins and multiple health outcomes, and assess their strength and validity.Our study was registered at PROSPERO (No. CRD42021255938). We systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases from inception to May 18, 2021, to identify relevant systematic reviews and meta-analyses of observational studies. The validated "A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews" for assessing the methodological quality of included systematic reviews was utilized. For each association, we estimated the summary effect size using fixed and random effects methods, and the 95% confidence and prediction intervals. We also evaluated heterogeneity, evidence of small-study effects, and excess significance bias.Overall, 16 articles with 58 meta-analyses were included. All studies were categorized as over moderate quality. On employing the random-effects model, fourteen (24.1%) meta-analyses were found to be significant at P 0.05, whereas only one (1.7%) remained significant at P 10Although the intake of dietary protein was associated with certain health outcomes, the strength of evidence was limited for most outcomes. Moreover, the source of dietary protein is an important factor that requires better consideration in future studies.
