Introduction and Objectives: The Academic Network of Health Sciences of Lusofonia (RACS - racslusofonia.org) was created in 2016, with the mission of promoting training and scientific cooperation in health sciences, between higher education institutions and research centers in different countries and Portuguese speaking communities. Within the Physiotherapy Education Group of RACS we develop a project with a set of activities, developed along the academic path of the physiotherapy students, which allow them to be exposed progressively to the international context. Methods: During the 2021/22 academic year, 10 institutions involving 103 Physiotherapy students from 6 different countries (Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Angola, and São Tomé e Principe) participate in this project. Students are asked, over a period of 2 months, to carry out at least 2 online meetings within an international group to discuss topics related to the reality of education and the practice of Physiotherapists. As a result, students submit an individual reflection on the most relevant points that were identified in this sharing process. In each of the participating institutions, there was a teacher responsible for preparing, supporting, and evaluating the students' reflections. Results: To assess the impact and satisfaction of the students with activity, an online questionnaire (10 questions) was used, with several dimensions (preparation, performance, and global opinion) where a response rate of 83% was obtained (n=86). Regarding the answers, 93% considered that the objectives of the activity were clear and attainable and that the support materials were adequate (83%). Regarding meetings with international peers, 70% said that communication was easy during the meetings and that the proposed objectives were achieved (91%). Concerning the impact of the activity, 94% considered that the activity contributes to a better understanding of the international context of teaching and practice of physiotherapists, stressing that it should continue to be carried out within the scope of the physiotherapy course (89%). Conclusion(s): The overall reflexion from the students and teachers involved was very positive, reinforcing the importance of this activity and identifying areas of improvement related to student recruitment and support throughout this process. Based on the results, it seems important for us to carry out this project as it facilitates students’ early exposure to international contexts, which may facilitate the development of skills that allow them to play a more active and global professional role. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

A Terapia de Aceitação e Compromisso (ACT; Hayes et al., 1999) é um modelo de tratamento psicológico transdiagnóstico, que visa desenvolver a “capacidade de entrar em contato com o momento presente mais plenamente como um ser humano consciente e, com base no que a situação permite, mudar ou persistir no comportamento para servir a fins valorizados” (Luoma et al., 2007, p. 24); Ou seja, flexibilidade psicológica. Portanto, a inflexibilidade psicológica é o exato oposto, trata-se da falta de contato com o momento presente, controle verbal rígido (i.e., fusão cognitiva e self-como-conteúdo), esquiva de experiências privadas negativas (i.e., esquiva experiencial;) e falta de clareza e distanciamento de valores pessoais (Hayes et al., 1999; Hayes et al., 2006; Salters-Pedneault et al., 2004). &nbsp

Why do some post-transitional democracies have extremist parties associated with the former regime, while others have mainstream parties associated with the former regime, and yet others have no parties associated with the former regime? Using a rational choice theoretical approach, in this dissertation I show that the “self-interested” relationship between the general population and autocratic incumbents, operating through a top-down logic of reception of various kinds of material benefits provided by autocratic policy outputs, are crucial factors in shaping post-transitional attitudes towards the regimes’ policies and consequently, voting preferences. Popular support has been shown to be a crucial element for the long-term stability of dictatorships. In order to increase it, autocratic leaders may produce general policy outputs, that will benefit virtually all the population, or particularistic policy outputs, that will only benefit specific groups. The top-down provision of these two policy outcomes will create distinct relations of self-interested dependence with the population, culminating in two different kinds of support. But what happens to this stock of popular support after transitions to democracy? Rational voters will have incentives to vote in a way that allows them to keep, or minimise the loss of the material benefits distributed during the former regime, in the new uncertain democratic context. Consequentially, in regimes that created general support, newly formed parties will utilise the positive inheritance of the former regime, having incentives to become mainstream in order to maximise their electoral success. This is possible because the majority of the population benefited from general outputs. Conversely, regimes that exclusively created particularistic support only benefited a niche segment of the general population, being unfavourable to the great majority. Therefore, unable to become mainstream, in order to utilise this legacy, associated parties are more likely to become extremist.

Febre de etiologia desconhecida é a causa mais freqüente de internação hospitalar de pacientes neutropênicos em quimioterapia. O paciente é, em geral, oligossintomático, e a avaliação inicial deve incluir história e exame físico completos e minuciosos, além de exames laboratoriais, procurando identificar a etiologia da febre e complicações decorrentes da quimioterapia. O tratamento com antibióticos de largo espectro deve ser iniciado prontamente, e o esquema terapêutico reavaliado 72 h, depois, com base nos estudos microbiológicos. No texto, discorremos sobre o diagnóstico da neutropenia febril, suas particularidades e o manejo do paciente.
