16. Controlling the Period-Bubbling Route to Chaos.

Abstract

We describe the period-bubbling attractors, their generation mechanism and chaos control strategy in nonlinear, unidimensional and two-parameter-dependent discrete maps. A theorem for the occurrence of sequential period-bubbling attractors leading to chaos, is presented. It delineates the role of a geometric parameter in the formation of anti-monotonic periodic sequences of each iterate of such discrete maps. The appearances of different period bubbles in two distinct Gaussian and cubic maps are demonstrated in accordance to the theorem. The delimited chaos through period-bubbling route is suppressed by employing linear density feedback with a proportional constant. The study discloses that the period-bubbling transitional route in unidimensional map cannot be suppressed by adopting constant feedback, which is in contrast to the control of period-doubling route to chaos. In Gaussian and cubic maps, the period-bubbling routes to chaos are gradually collapsed for linear density feedbacks, with the enhancements of the feedback strength parameter k. Interestingly, at k = 1 , the feedback-influenced Gaussian map experiences tangent bifurcation and chaos can re-enter into its dynamics through that scenario for k > 1. The tangent bifurcation in the feedback-affected Gaussian map is explained mathematically. Abstract

AbstractEyring–Prandtl nanofluid is used in several areas for the purpose of flow control, improvement of stability, enhancement of heat transfer, and many others. Motivated by these uses, this work aims to investigate the transmission of heat in two-dimensional Eyring–Prandtl nanofluid flow across a moving plate under the influence of Stefan blowing effects in a Darcy-porous medium. The new aspect of the flow problem arises due to the moving plate having nonlinear velocity as well as inclusion of Stefan blowing and consideration of nanofluid. This creates a boundary layer flow over the plate. Similarity transformations are employed for obtaining self-similar structure of the leading equations. Self-similar solutions are found for a specific power law velocity of the moving plate. Numerical technique is adopted for finding solutions of the self-similar nonlinear equations. A thorough discussion and demonstration of the effects of fluid material parameters, medium permeability, Prandtl number, Lewis number, and other parameters on temperature, concentration, and velocity are made. The possible physical explanations are provided systematically. The permeability of the porous medium determines how the fluid is flowing in the porous medium. It restricts the velocity but temperature and concentration are enhanced. However, the Stefan blowing parameter has shown reverse effects on velocity and concentration. This study indicates that the two material fluid parameters involved in the momentum equation have opposite effects on temperature, concentration, and velocity. The basic essence of this study is to find the boundary layer flow structure developed over a moving plate in porous medium and heat, mass transfer influenced by the nanofluid. Abstract

In this paper, we address a two-dimensional unsteady MHD mixed convective boundary layer flow past a flat surface of an electrically conducting Casson fluids taking radiative heat transfer. The partial slip boundary condition is imposed in the presence of suction/blowing. By adopting the continuous group of symmetry transformations, the symmetries and scaling laws are determined for the governing nonlinear partial differential equations along with boundary conditions. Finally, the set of coupled self-similar nonlinear ODEs is obtained. These equations are solved numerically for finding similar velocity and temperature for different parameter values. The effects of physical parameters on velocity and temperature are determined. The main findings are that the velocity profiles grow concavely and after reaching a critical point, the profiles overshoot by decreasing the velocity. This is due to the change of stress behavior which is an intrinsic property of the Casson fluid model. The imposition of partial slip condition on the flat surface leads to enhancement of the velocity overshoot. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
