El herpes zóster es la reactivación del virus varicela zóster; este padecimiento se presenta comúnmente en pacientes mayores de 50 años de edad y el factor de riesgo más importante para su aparición es el inmunocompromiso. El herpes zóster oftálmico es la variante de herpes zóster que más morbilidad representa para el paciente; la presentación en niños es poco frecuente. Presentamos el caso de un paciente femenino de 8 años de edad que acudió al servicio de urgencias del Antiguo Hospital Civil de Guadalajara con máculas y vesículas confluentes en región facial derecha, signo de Hutchinson y sin inmunocompromiso, diagnosticándose herpes zóster oftálmico. Fue hospitalizada para evaluación y descartar probable sobreinfección. El cuadro fue tratado intensivamente con aciclovir tanto tópico como sistémico para disminuir las complicaciones que se pudieran presentar. Apareció un episodio de uveítis anterior una semana después y fue controlado satisfactoriamente con esteroides y ciclopléjicos. La paciente evolucionó favorablemente, sin presentar secuelas significativas. Se mantuvo vigilada a la paciente durante los 3 meses posteriores al cuadro. El diagnóstico de esta entidad es principalmente clínico; se sabe que uno de los factores de riesgo más importantes en este grupo de edad no es el inmunocompromiso, sino la infección por varicela zóster durante el primer año de vida. Es primordial realizar siempre una evaluación exhaustiva en los pacientes con estas características por las secuelas a largo plazo y el riesgo de ambliopía por deprivación en caso de leucomas corneales residuales. El curso clínico del herpes zóster oftálmico en niños inmunocompetentes es benigno si se trata oportunamente con aciclovir.

Motor sequence learning is known to rely on more than a single process. As the skill develops with practice, two different representations of the sequence are formed: a goal representation built under spatial allocentric coordinates and a movement representation mediated through egocentric motor coordinates. This study aimed to explore the influence of daytime sleep (nap) on consolidation of these two representations. Through the manipulation of an explicit finger sequence learning task and a transfer protocol, we show that both allocentric (spatial) and egocentric (motor) representations of the sequence can be isolated after initial training. Our results also demonstrate that nap favors the emergence of offline gains in performance for the allocentric, but not the egocentric representation, even after accounting for fatigue effects. Furthermore, sleep-dependent gains in performance observed for the allocentric representation are correlated with spindle density during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep of the post-training nap. In contrast, performance on the egocentric representation is only maintained, but not improved, regardless of the sleep/wake condition. These results suggest that motor sequence memory acquisition and consolidation involve distinct mechanisms that rely on sleep (and specifically, spindle) or simple passage of time, depending respectively on whether the sequence is performed under allocentric or egocentric coordinates.

Abstract Social networks play a relevant role in the construction of narratives on disability and inclusive education. This paper categorises the themes of the most viral publications on Instagram, YouTube and Twitter X, with a twofold objective: to identify the social actors associated with them and to comparatively analyse the value of thematic use for the three digital platforms. Social listening techniques developed using the Twitter X API and web scraping techniques for Instagram and YouTube are applied to store the publications with the keywords education, inclusion and/or disability in Spanish and English. The database consists of 100,091 posts captured from October 2021 to September 2022, a full year. Subsequently, the 100 most viral publications from each social network are selected and a content analysis is applied. The results show a tendency towards thematic specialisation: Instagram defines the demand for rights and disseminates empathetic attitudes; YouTube collects experiences of good practices in informal contexts with a reflective function; Twitter X disseminates reports on the barriers and prejudices experienced by people with disabilities with a critical tone. The main social actors are diverse and varied with different profiles, therapists, politicians and parents with children with disabilities, among others. The impact of the narratives to face the new educational challenges that require an understanding of the network to establish long-term strategies for building a critical digital citizenship is discussed.

RESUMEN La reciente mercantilización de la innovación educativa obliga a tener muy presente el sentido de los cambios que se introducen. Que estos estén enfocados en la búsqueda de la calidad educativa y no en estrategias comerciales, y que sean acordes a lo que nos indican las diferentes áreas de conocimiento, es definitorio para establecer si se está ante una verdadera innovación educativa. Aquí se defiende un enfoque crítico y centrado en la comunidad, como el propuesto por Paulo Freire, que permita mejorar la educación y la sociedad desde un enfoque crítico y no mercantilizado.

A 6-year-old male neutered boxer mix canine was presented for a one-month history of dyschezia, hematochezia, and constipation. Colonoscopy and endoscopic biopsies revealed non-specific lymphoplasmacytic, eosinophilic colitis. Despite pursuing various therapies over a 3.5-month clinical course (including hypoallergenic diet, antibiotics, prokinetics, laxatives, and anti-inflammatory glucocorticoids), the patient’s condition did not improve. Two and a half months after initial presentation, the patient developed circumferential proctitis with multiple draining tracts and obstipation. Humane euthanasia and postmortem examination were elected. Gross and histological findings revealed locally extensive pyogranulomatous coloproctitis with many intralesional PAS-positive, GMS-negative 30–40 μm in diameter, hyaline, pauciseptate, irregularly branching fungal hyphae, hyphal bodies or chlamydospores and 25–45 μm in diameter thick-walled zygospores. Fungal culture of fluid from the draining tracts was performed, and DNA sequence analysis of the ITS and partial LSU of the nuclear ribosomal RNA genes were used to identify and confirm a novel species, Basidiobolus arizonensis. Basidiobolus spp. are saprobes in the order Basidiobolales and most commonly cause granulomatous infections of the skin, respiratory tract, and gastrointestinal tract in veterinary species and humans. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first report of novel Basidiobolus arizonensis causing localized coloproctitis in a dog.

Decision trees are a widely used machine learning technique due to their ease of interpretation and construction. This method allows domain experts to learn from raw data, but they cannot include their prior knowledge in the analysis due to its automatic nature, which implies minimal human intervention in its computation. Conversely, interactive visualization methods have proven to be effective in gaining insights from data, as they incorporate the researcher’s criteria into the analysis process. In an effort to combine both methodologies, we have developed a tool to manually build decision trees according to subsequent visualizations of data mapping after applying linear discriminant analysis in combination with Star Coordinates in order to analyze the importance of each feature in the separation. The nodes’ information contains data about the features that can be used to split and their cut-off values, in order to select them in a guided manner. In this way, it is possible to produce simpler and more expertly driven decision trees than those obtained by automatic methods. The resulting decision trees reduces the tree size compared to those generated by automatic machine learning algorithms, obtaining a similar accuracy and therefore improving their understanding. The tool developed and presented here to manually create decision trees in a guided manner based on the subsequent visualizations of the data mapping facilitates the use of this method in real-world applications. The usefulness of this tool is demonstrated through a case study with a complex dataset used for motion recognition, where domain experts built their own decision trees by applying their prior knowledge and the visualizations provided by the tool in node construction. The resulting trees are more comprehensible and explainable, offering valuable insights into the data and confirming the relevance of upper body features and hand movements for motion recognition.

Background/Objectives: Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) is a chronic condition that has early diagnosis as a critical component for proper treatment. Thermography, a non-invasive imaging method, is considered a promising complementary tool for the diagnosis and monitoring of BCRL, especially in subclinical stages. The present study aimed to evaluate the intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility of thermography for measuring the skin temperature of the upper limbs (UL) of women with and without BCRL. Methods: This study, conducted with women who underwent a unilateral mastectomy, assessed BCRL using indirect volumetry. Maximum, minimum, and mean skin temperatures were measured in five regions of interest (ROI) of each UL (C1, C2, C3, C4, and Cup) in four different postures. Reproducibility measures were assessed using an intraclass correlation coefficient, 95% confidence interval, and coefficient of variation. Results: The sample comprised 30 women; 14 were diagnosed with BCRL. A total of 120 thermograms were recorded in different postures, and 3600 ROI were analyzed in the UL with and without BRCL. The intraclass correlation coefficient of the analyses indicated intra- and inter-examiner reproducibility from good to excellent (0.82 to 1.00) for all skin temperatures evaluated (maximum, minimum, and mean). The coefficient of variation for all measures was below 10%, indicating low variability. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate that thermography shows good-to-excellent reproducibility across multiple postures and regions of interest, reinforcing its potential as a non-invasive and reliable method for assessing lymphedema in breast cancer survivors. This study establishes a foundation for incorporating thermography into clinical practice for early BCRL detection, particularly in subclinical stages, thus improving patient management and outcomes.

En las últimas dos décadas se han realizado diversas investigaciones para dilucidar los efectos terapéuticos de la psilocibina en el cuerpo y la mente de los seres humanos. Uno de los propósitos de este artículo es mostrar que no existe una oposición excluyente entre ciencia y espiritualidad. Para ello es importante reflexionar de manera crítica sobre los marcos conceptuales utilizados (psicodélicos, alucinógenos, enteógenos, neurotrópicos, entre otros), pero también sobre el papel que han tenido los compuestos psicoactivos involucrados en el proceso evolutivo, en este caso los hongos psilocibios. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo informar, en base a un análisis bibliográfico, acerca del papel que han tenido los hongos Psilocybe spp. en la evolución de la humanidad, así como realizar un análisis crítico de sus usos culturales. Uno de los tópicos específicos es examinar el papel que pudieron tener los usos rituales y terapeúticos de hongos psilocibios en el desarrollo del lenguaje. Por ejemplo, la importancia cultural presente en los cantos, plegarias y conjuros se expresa en el uso ritual y/o ceremonial del lenguaje, el cual es visto como un medio para entrar en contacto con los ancestros y entidades sagradas. Esta investigación pretende argumentar que el consumo de hongos psilocibios pudo contribuir a “expandir” la mente de nuestros antepasados ejerciendo una presión selectiva significativa sobre la evolución del pensamiento humano. Por último se explicarán algunos de los potenciales terapeúticos que tiene la psilocibina para atender diversos trastornos mentales mediante rituales, psicoterapias, tratamientos psiquiátricos, entre otros.

Las redes sociales como espacios de participación social son relevantes para el estudio de la empleabilidad inclusiva. La presente investigación analiza las publicaciones en Twitter, Instagram e YouTube relacionadas con empleo inclusivo, en especial, las asociadas a personas con discapacidad. El objetivo es identificar perfiles en relación con la empleabilidad y la discapacidad en estas plataformas digitales a través de las correlaciones entre el contenido, sentimiento, género, influencia, espacio temporal y geográfico abordado desde la perspectiva social y laboral. La recopilación de contenidos se realiza mediante la API de Twitter y técnicas de «web scraping» entre el 1 de noviembre de 2021 y 31 de octubre de 2022, con un total de 109.266 publicaciones, de las cuales 13.887 contienen palabras clave relacionadas con el empleo. La investigación se desarrolla mediante una metodología mixta que analiza, de forma cuantitativa, el conjunto de datos mediante la herramienta Power BI y, de forma cualitativa, las publicaciones más virales de cada red social. Este análisis de datos permite hacer visible lo invisible de las relaciones en red, identificando patrones de creación de contenidos y grupos de influencia. Los resultados evidencian la influencia de los días internacionales en el número de publicaciones altruistas, y un utilitarismo mercantil de la empleabilidad inclusiva que opaca las difusiones sociales sin ánimo de lucro. La compresión y visualización de la estructura y las temáticas intrínsecas al objeto de estudio permiten fomentar de manera más racional la empleabilidad inclusiva y mejorar los espacios de comunicación entre la ciudadanía digital crítica.

Background: More could be known about baseline factors related to desirable Intensive Interdisciplinary Pain Treatment (IIPT) outcomes. This study examined how baseline characteristics (age, gender, child pain catastrophizing (PCS-C), pain interference, pain intensity, anxiety, depression, paediatric health-related quality of life (PedsQLTM), and parent catastrophizing (PCS-P)) were associated with discharge and 3-month follow-up scores of PCS-C, pain intensity, and pain interference. Methods: PCS-C, pain intensity, and pain interference T-scores were acquired in 45 IIPT patients aged 12–18 at intake (baseline), discharge, and 3-month follow-up. Using available and imputed data, linear mixed models were developed to explore associations between PCS-C, pain intensity, and pain interference aggregated scores at discharge and follow-up with baseline demographics and a priori selected baseline measures of pain, depression, anxiety, and PCS-C/P. Results: PCS-C and pain interference scores decreased over time compared to baseline. Pain intensity did not change significantly. Baseline PCS-C, pain interference, anxiety, depression, and PedsQLTM were associated with discharge/follow-up PCS-C (available and imputed data) and pain interference scores (available data). Only baseline pain intensity was significantly associated with itself at discharge/follow-up. Conclusions: Participants who completed the IIPT program presented with reduced PCS-C and pain interference over time. Interventions that target pre-treatment anxiety and depression may optimize IIPT outcomes.

The incipient interest in hybrid and collaborative didactics in times of COVID-19 highlights the fundamental role of digital hybrids in the training of university students. New mobile devices allow the ubiquity of teaching-learning processes. But they not only allow the possibility of sharing and communicating at any time and place. In these devices, different tools that integrate different representation systems converge, and offer new forms of construction, representation and communication of knowledge. From the questioning of the hegemonic technological culture, and from a didactic approach that advocates comprehensive and critical teaching, we want to present the creative functions of mobile devices so that students can build their own texts, new multimodal narratives, for the construction of a creative digital identity. An identity that allows them to perceive, analyse, reflect, produce, communicate and participate in their environment in a collaborative way. We present a transgressive didactic proposal based on photographic narration that displays new semiotic ways of building knowledge and making it known. We discuss its value to rethink other functions of academic knowledge and assessment, beyond achievement tests, critical dimensions in the University.

The present article investigates the potentialities of photo-elicitation as a technique in teacher professional development. This study analyses the process of eliciting dilemmas in four primary teachers, whose solution has proved to contribute to the teachers´ education. To this end, the effect of different types of external observers' intervention in dilemma generation, participating in sessions developed with a specific photo-elicitation procedure, is explored. The knowledge pursued in order to meet the study objectives concerned inconsistencies between goals and practices and teachers’ dilemmas. These inconsistencies and dilemmas are tacit and with multiple possible interpretations, and are therefore not measurable. They consequently require an interpretative research approach using a qualitative method of inquiry based on collective case studies. The results show that the inconsistencies introduced to the teachers, by questioning their teaching practice, are enough but not necessary to pose professional dilemmas. Solving these dilemmas led the teachers to change their conceptual and processual beliefs, as well as their teaching activities.

El binomio teléfonos móvil y RRSS en la adolescencia transciende lo tecnológico. Las prácticas de uso tan habituales en su vida cotidiana son ubicuas, pero relativamente invisibles para docentes y familias. Un conocimiento necesario para marcar una hoja de ruta en el diseño de propuestas educativas mediadas por tecnologías móviles. Mediante un estudio descriptivo longitudinal cuantitativo, se identifican niveles de uso y comportamiento con los teléfonos móviles en una muestra (N=645) escolar en ESO-Bachillerato, prestando especial atención a qué aplicaciones son las más empleadas, y el tiempo de uso en función del género y nivel educativo. Los resultados evidencian que el teléfono móvil no se percibe como un sistema de almacenamiento de información, se emplea con una finalidad comunicativa (RRSS) de las que se nutren las aplicaciones de edición de imagen (fotografía-vídeo) y consumo de audiovisuales (vídeos-música). En el segundo año de ESO hay un incremento de aplicaciones y de tiempo empleado frente al móvil. Las diferencias de género suponen brechas significativas en cuanto al uso de RRSS, y el valor de la imagen un punto axiomático en ello. Una praxis que evidencia las amenazas que suscita su empleo, y el reto de diseñar una alfabetización digital ambiciosa que contemple usos responsables de las RRSS, conocimiento sumo informado de los contenidos digitales y la introducción de escenarios comunicativos multimodales para crear y compartir.

Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with acute respiratory distress syndrome is a life-threatening condition. A previous diagnosis of chronic liver disease is associated with poorer outcomes. Nevertheless, the impact of silent liver injury has not been investigated. We aimed to explore the association of pre-admission liver fibrosis indices with the prognosis of critically ill COVID-19 patients. Methods: The work presented was an observational study in 214 patients with COVID-19 consecutively admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Pre-admission liver fibrosis indices were calculated. In-hospital mortality and predictive factors were explored with Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression analysis. Results: The mean age was 59.58 (13.79) years; 16 patients (7.48%) had previously recognised chronic liver disease. The confinement of pigs stands out as a great generator of swine wastewater (SW). The final destination of waste generated is currently a concern of society, since if handled improperly, it can cause serious impacts to the environment. One of the alternatives is the use of SW as a source of nutrients, which are made available to the plants, after the mineralization of organic matter. The objective of this work was to compare soil chemical attributes under two planting arrangements, in single and double lines of Corymbia citriodora. Two experiments were carried out at the Bonsucesso farm, in Uberlândia-MG, the first with C. citriodora in simple lines, with five plants per plot, spacing two meters between plants and 15 meters between rows. The second experiment was with C. citriodora in double lines, with two meters between plants in the line, three meters between lines in the plot and 15 meters between the double lines of C. citriodora. The statistical design was in randomized blocks. The treatments used were five doses of SW (0; 200; 400; 600 and 800 m³ ha-1) with five replicates. The application of SW rates was divided in the dry season, in the months of June, July and August. The chemical characteristics of the soil were evaluated in the 0-20 cm depth layer. Planting on double lines of C. citriodora provided higher soil nutrient contents. The application of swine wastewater raised the levels of potassium and heavy metals such as copper and zinc. The dose of 200 m3 ha-1 provided adequate levels for most nutrients present in the soil.

Patterns of DNA methylation, an important epigenetic modification involved in gene silencing and development, are disrupted in cancer cells. Understanding the functional significance of aberrant methylation in tumors remains challenging, due in part to the lack of suitable tools to actively modify methylation patterns. DNA demethylation caused by mammalian DNA methyltransferase inhibitors is transient and replication-dependent, whereas that induced by TET enzymes involves oxidized 5mC derivatives that perform poorly understood regulatory functions. Unlike animals, plants possess enzymes that directly excise unoxidized 5mC from DNA, allowing restoration of unmethylated C through base excision repair. Here, we show that expression of Arabidopsis 5mC DNA glycosylase DEMETER (DME) in colon cancer cells demethylates and reactivates hypermethylated silenced loci. Interestingly, DME expression causes genome-wide changes that include both DNA methylation losses and gains, and partially restores the methylation pattern observed in normal tissue. Furthermore, such methylome reprogramming is accompanied by altered cell cycle responses and increased sensibility to anti-tumor drugs, decreased ability to form colonospheres, and tumor growth impairment in vivo. Our study shows that it is possible to reprogram a human cancer DNA methylome by expression of a plant DNA demethylase.

Several collaborative filtering (CF) approaches have been developed in order to improve the quality of the recommendations. However, this improvement has always been measured as the average quality of the performed recommendations across all the users. It has not been analyzed for each individual user. In this paper, the existence of a more precise CF approach for each user is demonstrated. So, a novel hybrid method that merges recommendations provided by different CF approaches based on a multi-class classification algorithm is proposed. This classification is performed based on the user rating behavior. Experiments have been carried out on the MovieLens and Netflix datasets. The experimental results demonstrate an improvement on quality of both predictions and recommendations using the proposed hybrid CF approach. In addition, experiments have compared state-of-the-art baselines with the results obtained by the proposed approach.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of two ophthalmic solutions in patients with mild to moderate dry eye. Methods: We performed a prospective, 2-month-long, randomized, double-blind, single-center, parallel clinical trial to compare the efficacy and safety of two ophthalmic solutions for dry eye treatment. Patients were randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups, study group or active-control group, and received one drop four times a day. The primary efficacy endpoint was to extend the tear film break-up time (TBUT) after 2 months of treatment. The Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) was also evaluated. Safety measures were assessed by the presence of adverse events. Results: A total of 28 patients with mild to moderate dry eye were included in the per protocol analysis. TBUT was similar between groups at baseline (chondroitin sulfate and xanthan gum [CS/XG] group, 5.2 ± 2.3; Systane® group, 4.7 ± 2.6; P = 0.488), after 2 months of treatment, TBUT was still similar in both groups (CS/XG group, 6.1 ± 2.5; Systane® group, 7.3 ± 2.5; P = 0.088). Baseline OSDI was similar between the groups (CS/XG group, 18.8 ± 5.3; Systane® group, 19.8 ± 7.1; P = 0.810), but after 2 months of treatment, the OSDI was significantly lower in the CS/XG group (6.7 ± 5.7 versus 10.8 ± 6.4; P = 0.049). An adverse event was present in the CS/XG group, but it was not related to the treatment. Conclusions: In this population of patients with mild to moderate dry eye, treatment with CS/XG was as effective as treatment with Systane® with regard to TBUT; nevertheless, treatment in the CS/XG group was more effective at diminishing OSDI. Technological advances enable the capture and management of complex data sets that need to be correctly understood. Visualisation techniques can help in complex data analysis and exploration, but sometimes the visual channel is not enough, or it is not always available. Some authors propose using the haptic channel to reinforce or substitute the visual sense, but the limited human haptic short-term memory still poses a challenge. We present the haptic tuning fork, a reference signal displayed before the haptic information for increasing the discriminability of haptic icons. With this reference, the user does not depend only on short-term memory. We have decided to evaluate the usefulness of the haptic tuning fork in impedance kinesthetic devices as these are the most common. Furthermore, since the renderable signal ranges are device-dependent, we introduce a methodology to select a discriminable set of signals called the haptic scale. Both the haptic tuning fork and the haptic scale proved their usefulness in the performed experiments regarding haptic stimuli varying in frequency.

Purpose: The Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) has been validated in many diverse samples. This measure of health-related quality of life, however, has not yet been examined among older Mexican Americans, a rapidly growing subset of the older population. Design and Methods: We address the validity of the SF-36 in a sample of older Mexican Americans (N = 621) selected from the Hispanic Established Populations for Epidemiologic Study of the Elderly. Using confirmatory factor analysis through structural equation modeling, we evaluate the construct validity of this scale. Results: The results indicate evidence for a model with eight first-order factors consistent with previous research on the SF-36 and two second-order factors representing mental and physical health. Implications: This, in addition to other evidence given here, leads us to the conclusion that the SF-36 is a valid measure of health-related quality of life in this sample of older Mexican Americans. Uncovering the population genetic histories of non-model organisms is increasingly possible through advances in next generation sequencing and DNA sampling of museum specimens. This new information can inform conservation of threatened species, particularly those for which historical and contemporary population data are unavailable or challenging to obtain. The critically endangered, nomadic regent honeyeater Anthochaera phrygia was abundant and widespread throughout south-eastern Australia prior to a rapid population decline and range contraction since the 1970s. A current estimated population of 250-400 individuals is distributed sparsely across 600,000 km2 from northern Victoria to southern Queensland. Using hybridization RAD (hyRAD) techniques, we obtained a SNP dataset from 64 museum specimens (date 1879-1960), 102 'recent' (1989-2012) and 52 'current' (2015-2016) wild birds sampled throughout the historical and contemporary range. We aimed to estimate population genetic structure, genetic diversity and population size of the regent honeyeater prior to its rapid decline. We then assessed the impact of the decline on recent and current population size, structure and genetic diversity. Museum sampling showed population structure in regent honeyeaters was historically low, which remains the case despite a severe fragmentation of the breeding range. Population decline has led to minimal loss of genetic diversity since the 1980's. Capacity to quantify the overall magnitude of both genetic diversity loss and population decline was limited by the poorer quality of genomic data derived from museum specimens. A rapid population decline, coupled with the regent honeyeater's high mobility, means a detectable genomic impact of this decline has not yet manifested. Extinction may occur in this nomadic species before a detectable genomic impact of small population size is realised. We discuss the implications for genetic management of endangered mobile species and enhancing the value of museum specimens in population genomic studies.

Minor Surgery Sutures is a fundamental skill for healthcare professionals. However, in the educational field, the practice of suturing is sometimes limited and reduced, with more theoretical than practical study. In order to facilitate learning, our goal is to develop an immersive and interactive educational tool that complements theoretical study, called Suture MR. This application could enhance suture procedural skills in the fields of nursing and medicine. Applying Mixed Reality techniques, we generate a 3D model of an arm with a full-scale wound. Realistically, the user will simulate the suture movements as part of the learning process. The application has surgical clamps and a needle holder that are virtually visualized in the user’s hands, allowing gestures and movements faithful to the real ones. In this article, we want to demonstrate the usability of our environment and the feasibility of using Mixed Reality learning experiences in clinical practical training as a complement to theoretical training. The results of the study reveal a greater perception of learning and the willingness of students to use this methodology.

El presente artículo versa sobre el papel que cumple la fotografía en el desarrollo profesional de docentes en ejercicio. Se exponen los primeros resultados del pro- yecto de investigación llevado a cabo con tres maestras y una directora de tres CEIP, durante dos cursos académicos. Las profe- soras utilizan la fotografía para representar sus principales preocupaciones, dilemas profesionales y situaciones relevantes que observan en su día a día. Cuestiones que, posteriormente, fueron puestas en común y debatidas en el equipo de trabajo me- diante sesiones de foto-elicitación. El refe- rente teórico que fundamenta este estudio es que la reflexión en torno a la práctica en el aula de un docente hace emerger su posicionamiento profesional, su conoci- miento teórico-práctico y las emociones que experimentan. Se analiza y discute la relación existente entre la imagen mental de las maestras en dichas situaciones y cómo la materializan mediante fotografías. En los resultados se muestra el papel rele- vante que tienen las figuras retóricas, en especial la metonimia, para entender el proceso semiótico de conceptualización y significación de objetos y eventos de la realidad vivida en las aulas y su represena- ción fotográfica. Pero además, el análisis y deliberación durante la foto-elicitación sobre las imágenes tomadas, ha permitido que las docentes lleven a cabo un proceso deliberativo y de reasignación de signifi- cados sobre su acción en las aulas que, a su vez, conlleva una cambio y transforma- ción de su práctica docente que, en buena medida, es un aspecto clave de su desa- rrollo profesional.

A continuación presentamos parte de los resultados obtenidos en una investigación colaborativa,desarrollada en una escuela de una localidad rural de la provincia de Guadalajara. El estudio se ha centrado en comprender cómo viven y experimentan la convivencia escolar profesoradoyalumnado, y cuáles son las creencias de las familias sobre ésta. Mediante un diseño de investigación que se gesta en sus inicios con una acción de transformación y mejora, se va construyendo un relato de la vida escolar que tiene en cuenta al alumnado como sujeto escolary sujeto social.Tras una breve presentación de cuándo y cómo se gesta el estudio, exponemos los referentes teóricos y algunos rasgos importantes en relación con el contexto en el que está inserta la escuelaPosteriormente, abordamos el proceso metodológico seguido, resaltando los aspectos críticos quedan muestras de la fecundidad y el enriquecimiento que la investigación colaborativa tiene para la construcción de un conocimiento intersubjetivo y contrastado de la convivencia en la escuela. A continuación presentamos los resultados obtenidos y los sometemos a discusión, valorando surelevancia en relación con las ideas y planteamientos de otros autores. Terminamos con unas conclusiones en las que señalamos las ideas más relevantes extraídas del estudio.

Fruto de una propuesta de innovación, financiada por el Vicerrectorado de Comunicación y Planificación de la UAH en el curso 2007/08, surge la propuesta que presentamos en este documento, tras tres años de aplicación en la Licenciatura de psicopedagogía, en una asignatura troncal. Se han puesto en marcha tres estrategias formativas vinculadas a la creación y gestión del conocimiento por parte del alumnado de un modo cooperativo, quien además individualmente tiene la posibilidad de autorregular su aprendizaje. A través de una estructura cooperativa en el aula, vertebrada en torno a tres estrategias fundamentales: el relato fotográfico, las historias de vida y el diario personal de aprendizaje, vamos configurando un modelo formativo a lo largo de tres cursos académicos que compagina la cooperación con la autonomía y autorregulación del propio aprendizaje, así como la alfabetización multimodal de los estudiantes, quienes desempeñan un rol activo en la creación y gestión del conocimiento mediante la utilización de la fotografía para comunicar las ideas y el conocimiento que van adquiriendo. En el trabajo profundizamos en la estrategia que denominamos “relato fotográfico”, que se ha revelado como una estrategia útil para que el alumnado cree y gestione el conocimiento y lo pueda compartir con el resto de sus compañeros; productos que tienen como soporte los blogs grupales como espacio comunicativo entre los estudiantes.

Presentamos una propuesta de innovación5 en la formación del profesorado basada en la implantación del e-learning como apoyo a un aprendizaje reflexivo. El contexto de aplicación se centra en las Prácticas de Enseñanza, concretamente en la asignatura Practicum de los estudios de Magisterio, materia que da cobertura a un aprendizaje basado en una reflexión crítica sobre la práctica educativa en los centros escolares. Las asignaturas implicadas han sido dos, el Practicum I y el Practicum II, y los alumnos implicados han sido treinta y cuatro. En este documento presentamos el marco teórico y los principios rectores que han guiado el diseño y desarrollo de la experiencia. Nos detenemos también en los datos recogidos durante el proceso y los resultados obtenidos en relación a las implicaciones que tiene todo ello en la práctica educativa a partir del análisis de nuestras prácticas de enseñanza y de aprendizaje. Con ello queremos evidenciar las posibilidades didácticas del e-learning y sus beneficios para favorecer procesos de aprendizaje reflexivos y críticos en la formación del profesorado.
