Previous research has reported that environmental knowledge plays an important role in enhancing general pro-environmental behaviour, as environmental knowledge appears to be the key indicator for increasing awareness of several pollution promulgations and other natural environmental issues. However, the significant role of environmental knowledge in the intention of households to practise solid waste segregation-at-source is not well understood. This research will, therefore, investigate the influence of environmental knowledge on the intention of households to engage in solid waste segregation-at-source. Further analysis will also be carried out explore the moderating effect of environmental knowledge in the relationship between the households’ attitude and subjective norm (i.e. descriptive norm and injunctive norm) with the intention to practise solid waste segregation-at-source. The findings of this current research are expected to provide an essential opportunity to investigate knowledge gaps, to contribute to the enrichment of existing literature, as well as to provide important insights for local households and Malaysian government agencies to strengthen the sense of responsibility for environmental cleanliness.

Although household penetration of smart appliances in Malaysia is second in Southeast Asia, the adoption rate is critically low compared other Asian counterparts. Hence, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence intention to adopt smart home technology among urban household in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Contributing to an expanding literature on smart home, this study examined the relationship between three determinant variables namely economic performance, environmental concern, and attitude toward technical performance and intention to adopt smart home technology. In addition, this study also aimed to determine factors that significantly influence intention to adopt smart home technology. Correlation analyses with a sample of B40 and T20 urban households (n = 120) from Johor Bahru shown that all three determinant factors were positively correlated with intention to adopt smart home technology. Multiple regression results revealed that attitude toward technical performance has the most effect on adoption intention, followed by economic performance. However, environmental concern did not significantly predict intention to adopt smart home technology. It is suggested that companies should focus on developing a positive attitude among potential consumers as well as emphasising on ease of use and benefits that smart home technology could bring to their life.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between credit and money attitudes with credit misuse among university students in Sichuan, China. A sample of 150 undergraduate students was collected from Sichuan University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology, and the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. Descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. Pearson correlation analyses found that affective, cognitive, and behavioral credit attitudes had no significant relationship with credit misuse. On the other hand, the five components of money attitude namely achievement and success, saving concerns, mindfulness and responsible, power and status as well as financial literacy worries had a significant positive relationship with credit misuse. This study provided relevant information to relevant parties to prevent credit misuse from becoming widespread among university students.

Solid waste generation in Malaysia is one of the challenging environmental issues which are often neglected by local households. The main purpose of this research is to ascertain the mediating effect of environmental concerns (i.e., egoistic, altruistic, and biospheric concerns) between households’ descriptive norm and injunctive norm to practice the segregation-at-source of solid waste. A total of 400 residents living in townships in nine districts in the state of Selangor were selected via a multi-stage sampling method. A self-administrated bilingual questionnaire was used to collect the research data. As for the mediation test, the present research found that egoistic concern and altruistic con-cern mediated the significant relationship between injunctive norm and intention to practice the seg-regation-at-source of solid waste among the households in Selangor. The present research con-cludes with research implications and provides several avenues for future research in order to create a comprehensive understanding of the segregation-at-source of solid waste policy among Malaysian citizens.

This paper aims to employ behaviour change theories in predicting consumers’ intention of buying energy-efficient products. A stratified sampling of 500 face-to-face interview questionnaires was used in two regions of Peninsular Malaysia. The findings from the evaluation of absolute indices of the structural model showed that the criterion of the model is good-of-fit with values greater than 0.9. Besides, the analysis of the direct effect model also found that consumers’ intention to buy energy-efficient products is influenced by perceived product values. As for the indirect model, attitude determines the relationship between consumers’ perceived product value, subjective norm, responsibility and intention to buy energy-efficient products. A consumer’s perception of product values and attitude is crucial for consumers to form a more favourable mindset towards these green innovation products. In addition, the communication initiatives that develop consumers’ trust about the benefits of the products are some of the various ways to encourage consumers’ purchasing behaviour. Hence, this study attempts to provide a valuable insight into Malaysian consumers’ behaviour regarding energy-efficient products. Furthermore, this study extends an application of the behavioural theories by examining variables in a composite model. The findings of the study suggest that policy makers should thoroughly set the interventions to harmonise the traditional approach using rebates and subsidised incentives since behavioural interventions are considered to be valuable complements when they are jointly implemented.
