- Abstract
The potential of social media to create open, collaborative and participatory spaces allows young women to engage and empower themselves in political and social activism. In this context, the objective of this research is to analyze the polarization in the debate at the intersection between the defense of feminism and transsexuality, preferably among the young population, symbolized in the use of the term "TERF". To do this, the existing communities on this subject on Twitter and TikTok have been analyzed with Social Network Analysis techniques, in addition to the presence of young people in them. The results indicate that the debates between both networks are not very cohesive, with a highly modularized structure that suggests isolation of each community. For this reason, it may be considered that the debate on sexual identity has resulted in a strong polarization of feminist activism in social media. Likewise, the positions of transinclusive feminism are very much in the majority among young people; this reinforces the idea of an ideological debate that can also be understood from a generational perspective. Finally, differential use between both social networks has been identified, where TikTok is a less partisan and more dialogue-based network than Twitter, which leads to discussions and participation in a more neutral tone.

Parliamentary transcripts provide a valuable resource to understand the reality and know about the most important facts that occur over time in our societies. Furthermore, the political debates captured in these transcripts facilitate research on political discourse from a computational social science perspective. In this paper we release the first version of a newly compiled corpus from Basque parliamentary transcripts. The corpus is characterized by heavy Basque-Spanish code-switching, and represents an interesting resource to study political discourse in contrasting languages such as Basque and Spanish. We enrich the corpus with metadata related to relevant attributes of the speakers and speeches (language, gender, party...) and process the text to obtain named entities and lemmas. The obtained metadata is then used to perform a detailed corpus analysis which provides interesting insights about the language use of the Basque political representatives across time, parties and gender., Comment: 9 pages, 14 figures, 4 tables. - Abstract
This article analyzes one case of university teaching innovation in the field of online journalism through multimedia journalistic projects linked to the UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These projects aim to develop Transversal Competencies (TC) useful for emotional, creative training and for creating enterprising future journalists. The outcomes of this innovative training experience were obtained from surveys (n = 158) carried out among the participating students and from classroom observations. The conclusions discuss the reach and implications of this teaching experience, which hopes to be of use for future applications of SDGs in other journalism and communication subjects.

- Abstract
The current media need for employees capable of producing multiplatform content and thriving in collaborative environments. This has made digital journalism one of the fields considered to have the greatest potential today for promoting professional, research, and teaching innovation. In fact, online journalism has played a major role in the renovation of communications curricula over the past two decades. This article examines a case study on a teaching innovation project in online journalism based on the Internationalization at Home (IaH) transversal perspective. It can be considered as the first project examining this perspective in the journalism-teaching field. The examined project was carried out by teachers and researchers of five Ibero-American universities with the aim that virtual international students of the five universities collaborated for the production of multimedia in-depth news reports. The article thus analyses the teaching innovation experience and discusses it in terms of advantages and disadvantages.

FAIR use (Copyright) ,ARTIFICIAL intelligence ,LEGISLATIVE reform ,LEGAL remedies ,INTELLECTUAL property - Abstract
The emergence of ChatGPT and other related artificial intelligence systems has posed many questions upon the impact that such tools could have on some jobs, including media workers. Serious legal concerns have arisen regarding the learning practices of AI-related companies such as OpenAI and Google. These concerns involve crawling and extracting presumably unauthorized copyright works from news repositories, whose rightholders are often media companies. In this article, we aim to categorize the newsroom practices and routines affected by artificial intelligence. We also explore copyright-law related issues, including AI-assisted reporting, its impact on journalists and the media workforce, SEO and commercial strategies, as well as training and blocking AI engines. The legal solutions applied to solve those questions are also addressed, including technical solutions, fair use guidelines and legal solutions (litigation, legislative reform, and negotiation). Our conclusion is twofold: first, in the unequal fight against artificial intelligence systems, a utilitarian and entrepreneurial conception of intellectual property is enforced; and second, the position of journalists as authors is weakening. 19. Mediatised Participation: Citizen Journalism and the Decline in User-Generated Content in Online News Media.

- Abstract
The second generation of web tools shook the journalist profession approximately two decades ago with the proactive incorporation of audiences into the media. Citizen journalism and user-generated content arose as an object of interest due to the democratising value of participation attributed to them, with empowered citizens who could emulate the professional and institutional practises of journalists. However, difficulties soon came to the surface, and audience participation in news media began to be limited. Within this context, this article conducts a critical review of studies on audience participation in news media based on a systematic literature review. The results indicate that, in general, audiences showed low interest in the creation of informative content and that their participation has grown increasingly problematic. In addition, journalists are reticent as they defend their professional role above all else, while company strategies have prioritised making participation profitable. For this reason, the idea of citizen journalism that offers user-created content through the media appears to be a thing of the past, with many characteristics that could define it as a failed innovation. Therefore, the text concludes that audience participation in the media could be defined as mediatised participation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[EN] The dissemination and viralization of information on social media has been widely studied from various perspectives, including the digital activism. On the other hand, disability-related activism has conquered the online esphere, thus obtaining a reach that goes beyond the offline space and dialogue. This article analyzes the conversation generated on Twitter taking as a sample all the tweets with the hashtag #disability before and after the International Day of Diabled Persons. More than 18,000 tweets have been analyzed in which there are almost as many mentions, which have been interpreted as the weighted edges of a directed graph with the Gephi software, using the Force Atlas 2 brute force algorithm. The focus has been placed on the conversational communities generated around that hashtag, the main themes and the prominent actors in said conversational communities. In conclusion, it is verified that, although the network of mentions is very dispersed, Twitter is the scene of claims that include certain institutional and political support from the Latin American environment, from entities related to the cause such as Fundación ONCE and, above all, the clear predominance of female activists. [EN] The implementation of artificial intelligence techniques and tools in the media will systematically and continuously alter their work and that of their professionals during the coming decades. To this end, this article carries out a systematic review of the research conducted on the implementation of AI in the media over the last two decades, particularly empirical research, to identify the main social and epistemological challenges posed by its adoption. For the media, increased dependence on technological platforms and the defense of their editorial independence will be the main challenges. Journalists, in turn, are torn between the perceived threat to their jobs and the loss of their symbolic capital as intermediaries between reality and audiences, and a liberation from routine tasks that subsequently allows them to produce higher quality content. Meanwhile, audiences do not seem to perceive a great difference in the quality and credibility of automated texts, although the ease with which texts are read still favors human authorship. In short, beyond technocentric or deterministic approaches, the use of AI in a specifically human field such as journalism requires a social approach in which the appropriation of innovations by audiences and the impact it has on them is one of the keys to its development. Therefore, the study of AI in the media should focus on analyzing how it can affect individuals and journalists, how it can be used for the proper purposes of the profession and social good, and how to close the gaps that its use can cause. [EU] Euskararen erabilera Eusko Legebiltzarreko debateetan (2012-2020) Legebiltzarretan, deliberazio demokrazien testuinguruan egindako hitzaldien azterketa garrantzitsua da, hitzaldi horiek hertsiki lotuta baitaude ekintza politikoarekin eta legegintza ekimenak garatzeko arrazoien azalpenarekin. Bestalde, azken urteotan, azterketa automatizatuei esker gehitu egin dira diskurtsoa aztertzeko aukerak, eta informazio bolumen handiak prozesatu daitezke. Testuinguru horretan, euskarak Eusko Legebiltzarrean duen erabilera aztertzen da artikulu honetan, bi legegintzaldiko (hots, 2012-2016 eta 2016-2020 legegintzaldietako) bilkuren akten azterketa automatizatuan oinarrituta. Emaitzek adierazten dutenez, euskaraz egindako agerraldien guztizko bolumena eguneroko erabilerari dagokiona baino handixeagoa da, baina adierazi beharra dago euskarari agerikotasuna emateko helburua duten protokolo erabilerak eta erabilera sinbolikoak ere identifikatu direla. [EN] The use of Basque language in debates in the Basque Parliament The analysis of interventions in parliament, in the context of deliberative democracies, is relevant because they are closely linked to political action and to the exposition of the reasons why legislative initiatives are developed. For its part, in recent years, automated content analysis has made it possible to process large volumes of information. In this context, this article studies the use of Basque in the Basque Parliament based on the automated analysis of the minutes of the sessions during two legislatures (2012-2016 and 2016-2020). The results indicate that, in the total volume of interventions, those carried out in Basque are slightly above their daily use, although tendencies towards their formal and symbolic use that seek to make their presence visible are also identified.

[EN] Technological progress has prompted journalistic companies to constantly adapt their way of operating and has redefined the professional skills of the media industry. These adaptations also reach the formulas used by university education to train web professionals taking into account their objectives and functions in society. Although the profession faces challenges derived from immediate information, misinformation and visibility, this field has useful resources to promote quality journalism based on analysis, deepening of information and information of service to society, among others. In a context in which various phenomena test the value of the profession, some approaches require from journalism a more holistic, social and community-oriented vision, which promotes new training actions. In order to contribute to responding to these challenges, this article includes the design and results of a practical experience of pedagogical innovation developed within the framework of the subject "Writing and creation of web content" in the 2020/2021 academic year, of the second year of degrees in the Communication area of the UPV/EHU. Finally, a differential use between both social networks has been identified, where TikTok is a less partisan and more dialogical network than Twitter, which leads to discussions and participation in a more neutral tone.

Political and institutional communication and the media in times of pandemic. Analysis of the dialogue on vaccines in five Ibero-American countries The current media context is characterized as a hybrid system in which old and new actors coexist and, at the same time, compete for their hegemony in the media sphere. In this context, Covid-19 has generated an “infodemic” or information overexposure that has made it difficult for citizens to access reliable sources and guidance. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to characterize the political, institutional and media actors who have reported on Twitter about vaccines and immunization processes during the Covid-19 pandemic in five Ibero-American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile,Spain and Mexico. To this end, a total of 68,822 tweets from 84 accounts belonging to the country’s presidents, the official accounts of governments, health authorities and their spokespersons, and the main media have been analyzed. The results indicate that the most intense activity and the informative weight have been carried by the health authorities and the media, although the personal accounts of the spokespersons and political representatives have achieved a much greater engagement. The interaction of the audiences has been mostly positive, although the most active users and with the highest level of participation have made comments for the most part negative. These results allow us to conclude that in the hybrid system, the media and institutional communication cabinets show a similar capacity to disseminate messages through social networks that generate a favorable reception, although in the case of public representatives, engagement, and also the polarization, they are much greater.

The Gender Gap in Journalism. Characteristics and perception Despite progress in equality in recent decades, journalism is an activity that does not escape the gender gap. This study aims, on one hand, to characterise the main indicators revealing the gender gap in the profession and, on the other, to discover the opinions of acting professionals in this regard. To this end, a survey was conducted with 522 workers in news media in the Basque Country. Firstly, the results corroborate the existence of a wage gap and a significant difference in holding positions of responsibility in the media. Furthermore, the data collected indicate a second gap, the perception of the influence of gender in developing a professional career. In general terms, this concerns professional women to a much greater extent than men.

- Abstract
Aldi berean, klima-aldaketaren pertzepzio zientifiko, sozial eta komunikatiboari dagokienez 2018 eta 2019 urteak inflexio-puntu izan ziren, komunikabideak funtsezko faktore bihurtuz ingurumenarekiko kontzientziazioan. Alde horretatik, EITB azterlan interesgarria da, ingurumen-kazetaritzarekin duen konpromiso bereziagatik (EITB, 2019). Premisa horretatik abiatuta, artikulu honek 2013 eta 2020 artean EITB.eus webgunean klima-aldaketari buruz argitaratutako albisteak aztertzen ditu, ingurumenari dagokionez GEK aplikatzean indarguneak eta ahulguneak azaleratzeko asmoz. Azterlanak ondorioztatzen duenez, hainbat indargune aurkitu dira, hala nola, frame sozial eta zientifikoak txertatzea, baina baita ahulguneak ere, besteak beste, klima-aldaketari buruzko etengabeko komunikaziorik ez egotea.; In the last decade, Public Broadcasters in Europe have been making significant efforts to improve their CSR actions towards their main stakeholder, the public. At the same time, the years 2018 and 2019 settled down a turning point in the scientific, social and communicative perception of climate change, which has helped to highlight the role of the media as essential agents in environmental awareness. In this respect, EITB it is an interesting case study, for its particular commitment to environmental journalism (EITB, 2019). Under this premise, this article analysis web news on climate change of EITB.eus from 2013 to 2020, with the aim of finding the strongest and weakest points in the application of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to climate change related issues. As the study concludes, environmental coverage evidences strengths such as the broad inclusion of social and scientific frames, as well as weaknesses such as the lack of continuous communication of climate change.
