CPT VIOLATION ,High Energy Physics::Phenomenology ,High Energy Physics::Experiment - Abstract
We present a direct measurement of the mass difference between t and (t) over bar quarks using t (t) over bar candidate events in the lepton + jets channel, collected with the CDF II detector at Fermilab's 1.96 TeV Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider. We make an event by event estimate of the mass difference to construct templates for top quark pair signal events and background events. The resulting mass difference distribution of data is compared to templates of signals and background using a maximum likelihood fit. From a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb(-1), we measure a mass difference, Delta M(top) = M(t) - M((t) over bar) = - 3:3 +/- 1.4(stat) +/- 1.0(syst) GeV/c(2), approximately 2 standard deviations away from the CPT hypothesis of zero mass difference. High-voltage spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (LNMO) is a promising candidate as a lithium-ion battery cathode material to fulfill the high-energy density demands of the electric vehicle industry. In this work, the design of the experiment’s methodology has been used to analyze the influence of the ratio of the different components in the electrode preparation feasibility of laboratory-scale coatings and their electrochemical response. Different outputs were defined to evaluate the formulations studied, and Derringer–Suich’s methodology was applied to obtain an equation that is usable to predict the desirability of the electrodes depending on the selected formulation. Afterward, Solver’s method was used to figure out the formulation that provides the highest desirability. This formulation was validated at a laboratory scale and upscaled to a semi-industrial coating line. High-voltage 1 Ah lithium-ion pouch cells were assembled with LNMO cathodes and graphite-based anodes and subjected to rate-capability tests and galvanostatic cycling. 1 C was determined as the highest C-rate usable with these cells, and 321 and 181 cycles above 80% SOH were obtained in galvanostatic cycling tests performed at 0.5 C and 1 C, respectively. Furthermore, it was observed that the LNMO cathode required an activation period to become fully electrochemically active, which was shorter when cycled at a lower C-rate.

High Energy Physics::Phenomenology ,High Energy Physics::Experiment - Abstract
We present a direct measurement of the mass difference between t and (t) over bar quarks using t (t) over bar candidate events in the lepton + jets channel, collected with the CDF II detector at Fermilab’s 1.96 TeV Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider. We make an event by event estimate of the mass difference to construct templates for top quark pair signal events and background events. The resulting mass difference distribution of data is compared to templates of signals and background using a maximum likelihood fit. From a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb(-1), we measure a mass difference, Delta M-top = M-t - M-(t) over bar = - 3:3 +/- 1.4(stat) +/- 1.0(syst) GeV/c(2), approximately 2 standard deviations away from the CPT hypothesis of zero mass difference.

Materials, Nonmetallic - Abstract
A method is presented by which the modulus obtained from a stress relaxation test can be used to estimate the modulus which would be obtained from a sonic vibration test. The method was applied to stress relaxation, sonic vibration, and high speed stress-strain data which was obtained on a flexible epoxy. The modulus as measured by the three test methods was identical for identical test times, and a change of test temperature was equivalent to a shift in the logarithmic time scale. An estimate was then made of the dynamic modulus of moldings of two Pyrrones and two polyimides, using stress relaxation data and the method of analysis which was developed for the epoxy. Over the common temperature range (350 to 500 K) in which data from both types of tests were available, the estimated dynamic modulus value differed by only a few percent from the measured value. As a result, it is concluded that, over the 500 to 700 K temperature range, the estimated dynamic modulus values are accurate.

- Abstract
Rational design and development of new Li-polyanion battery materials by exercising synthetic control have led to a new class of Li
2 M(SO4 )2 compounds in monoclinic (M = Mn, Fe, Co) and orthorhombic (M = Fe, Co, Ni) polymorphic forms, using solid state (ceramic) and ball milling methods respectively. The enthalpies of formation from binary sulfates determined using isothermal acid solution calorimetry are positive, and show decrease in energetic metastability with increase in ionic radius for both monoclinic and orthorhombic (except for Ni) polymorphs. The higher symmetry orthorhombic polymorphs with Fe and Co are energetically less stable than the corresponding monoclinic polymorphs. The vibrational/rotational disorder of the SO4 tetrahedra is identified as the most likely cause of the entropy term (TΔS) of the free energy to overcome the positive enthalpy of formation in monoclinic and orthorhombic phases. Driven by thermodynamic metastability, the orthorhombic Li2 M(SO4 )2 (M = Fe, Co) polymorphs transform irreversibly into the monoclinic phase on heat treatment. Orthorhombic Li2 Ni(SO4 )2 , formed by a ceramic route is thermodynamically stable and does not transform to the monoclinic phase on heating. The formation of metastable orthorhombic samples by ball milling is consistent with earlier thermodynamic studies on other Li-hydroxy/fluorosulfate systems, for which metastable tavorite polymorphs could be formed only by mild chemical synthetic approaches. This work demonstrates that the entropy term can play a key role for the synthesis, stability and phase transformation among polymorphs of Li-polyanionic compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

- Abstract
Objectives The authors estimated the associations between transient risk factors and laceration injuries in workers at two meatpacking plants in the Midwest. Methods The case-crossover design was used to collect within-subject transient work task and personal-level exposure information. RRs of laceration injuries were estimated by comparing exposures during the 'hazard' period (just before the laceration injury) with exposures in the 'control' period (the previous workweek). Stratified analyses were utilised to estimate the effects of gender, ethnicity, training and the number of adjacent coworkers on each transient risk factor. Results The authors interviewed 295 meatpacking workers with laceration injuries (mean age 36.6 years, SD 11.2, 75% men, 48% Hispanic). Recent tool sharpening (RR 5.3, 95% CI 3.8 to 7.4) and equipment malfunction (RR 5.3, 95% CI 3.9 to 7.3) were associated with the highest RR for laceration injury, followed by using an unusual work method to accomplish a task (RR 4.1, 95% CI 2.6 to 6.4) and performing an unusual task (RR 2.3, 95% CI 1.8 to 3.0). Rushing and being distracted were not significantly associated with an elevated RR of a laceration injury. In stratified analyses, there were a number of significant differences in laceration risk factors by gender, ethnicity, training, and number of workers on the line. Conclusions Sharpening tools, equipment malfunction, using an unusual work method to accomplish a task and performing an unusual task were all associated with increased risk of lacerations. Expanded training in atypical work circumstances and evaluation of tool sharpening procedures are intervention areas in meatpacking that need examination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract The objectives of this study were, first, to analyze the physical fitness in wheelchair basketball players, and secondly, to analyze the differences between athletes with different levels of functional classification. The study included 15 male wheelchair basketball players (38.73 ± 4.49 years, 78.49 ± 10.89 kg, 89.96 ± 3.58 cm sitting height), which were divided into two groups according on the impairment: Category A (n = 7, players with a high level of functional impairment) and Category B (n = 8 players with a lower level of functional impairment). The results determined that the group with greater functional classification performed better Yo-Yo 10 m test (distance covered, 19.32%, d = 0.89, p > 0.05). However, the differences between groups are observed in the specific acceleration 5 m with ball test (p > 0,05, 6.84%, d = 0.86), 20 m with ball (p < 0.01, 7, 59%, d = 2.23) and Pick up (p < 0.05, 10.07%, d = 0.87) and the strength measured by the medicine ball test (p < 0.05, 13.82%, d = 0.73). However, these differences between groups were not observed in the acceleration capacity without the ball, the T-test, maximal pass or handgrip test. The functional classification can affect aerobic fitness, the explosive force, as well as specific test with ball.
