Topological properties of energy flow of light are fundamentally interesting and may introduce novel physical phenomena associated with directional light scattering and optical trapping. In this Letter, skyrmionlike structures formed by Poynting vectors are unveiled in the focal region of two pairs of counterpropagating cylindrical vector vortex beams in free space. The appearance of local phase singularities, and the distinct traveling and standing wave modes of different field components passing through the focal spot lead to a Néel-Bloch-Néel transition of Poynting vector skyrmion textures along the light propagating direction. By shaping the wave front of the incident beams with patterned amplitudes, the topological invariant of the Poynting vector skyrmions can be further tuned in a prospective area. This work expands the family of optical skyrmions and holds great potential in energy flow associated applications.

Dissolved organic matter （DOM） plays an important role in indicating the pollution of the water environment, and sediment is the main source of endogenous pollution of the water environment. Research on the spectral characteristics of DOM in sediments was important for the interpretation of water environment pollution. In this study, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy combined with the parallel factor analysis （PARAFAC） were used to analyze the fluorescent components, sources, and influencing factors of DOM in sediments from the Yuanhe River Basin. The results showed that the average of ω （TN）, ω （TP）, and ω （OM） in sediments from the Yuanhe River Basin were 0.52, 0.66, and 21.22 g·kg -1 , respectively. The concentrations of total nitrogen and total phosphorus increased along the flow direction. In addition, the sediment DOM from the Yuanhe River Basin mainly originated from terrestrial sources. The chromophoric DOM concentration and aromaticity of DOM from the downstream reaches were significantly higher than those from the upstream and midstream reaches. Based on PARAFAC, four fluorescent components of DOM in sediments from the Yuanhe River Basin were identified, including three humus-like components （C1, C3, and C4） and one protein-like component （C2）. The sediment DOM was dominated by humus-like materials. Moreover, the fluorescent intensity of the fluorescent components was higher in the downstream reaches. Redundancy analysis revealed that the physicochemical properties of sediments in the mainstream and downstream reaches played a more significant role in the spectral properties of DOM. Phosphorus pollution and the terrestrial humus-like substance of sediment DOM were homologous. These results indicated that the spectral properties of DOM were the indicator of water environmental pollution in the region with strong anthropogenic influence.

Hole-transporting materials (HTMs) are crucial for obtaining the stability and high efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the current state-of-the-art n-i-p PSCs relied on the use of 2,2',7,7'-tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD) exhibit inferior intrinsic and ambient stability due to the p-dopant and hydrophilic Li-TFSI additive. In this study, a new spiro-type HTM with a critical quasi-planar core (Z-W-03) is developed to improve both the thermal and ambient stability of PSCs. The results suggest that the planar carbazole structure effectively passivates the trap states compared to the triphenylamine with a propeller-like conformation in spiro-OMeTAD. This passivation effect leads to the shallower trap states when the quasi-planar HTMs interact with the Pb-dimer. Consequently, the device using Z-W-03 achieves a higher Voc of 1.178 V compared to the spiro-OMeTAD's 1.155 V, resulting in an enhanced efficiency of 24.02%. In addition, the double-column π-π stacking of Z-W-03 results in high hole mobility (~10-4 cm2 V-1 s-1) even without p-dopant. Moreover, when the surface interface is modified, the undoped Z-W-03 device can achieve an efficiency of nearly 23%. This study aims to develop and validate a machine learning (ML) predictive model for assessing mortality in patients with malignant tumors and hyperkalemia (MTH). We extracted data on patients with MTH from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV, version 2.2 (MIMIC-IV v2.2) database. The dataset was split into a training set (75%) and a validation set (25%). We used the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression to identify potential predictors, which included clinical laboratory indicators and vital signs. Pearson correlation analysis tested the correlation between predictors. In-hospital death was the prediction target. The Area Under the Curve (AUC) and accuracy of the training and validation sets of 7 ML algorithms were compared, and the optimal 1 was selected to develop the model. The calibration curve was used to evaluate the prediction accuracy of the model further. SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) enhanced model interpretability. 496 patients with MTH in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were included. After screening, 17 clinical features were included in the construction of the ML model, and the Pearson correlation coefficient was <0.8, indicating that the correlation between the clinical features was small. eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) outperformed other algorithms, achieving perfect scores in the training set (accuracy: 1.000, AUC: 1.000) and high scores in the validation set (accuracy: 0.734, AUC: 0.733). The calibration curves indicated good predictive calibration of the model. SHAP analysis identified the top 8 predictive factors: urine output, mean heart rate, maximum urea nitrogen, minimum oxygen saturation, minimum mean blood pressure, maximum total bilirubin, mean respiratory rate, and minimum pH. In addition, SHAP and LIME performed in-depth individual case analyses. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of ML methods in predicting mortality risk in ICU patients with MTH. Constructing well-defined active multisites is an effective strategy to break linear scaling relationships to develop high-efficiency catalysts toward multiple-intermediate reactions. Here, dual-intermetallic heterostructure composed of tungsten-bridged Co 3 W and WNi 4 intermetallic compounds seamlessly integrated on hierarchical nanoporous nickel skeleton is reported as a high-performance nonprecious electrocatalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution and oxidation reactions. By virtue of interfacial tungsten atoms configuring contiguous multisites with proper adsorptions of hydrogen and hydroxyl intermediates to accelerate water dissociation/combination and column-nanostructured nickel skeleton facilitating electron and ion/molecule transportations, nanoporous nickel-supported Co 3 W-WNi 4 heterostructure exhibits exceptional hydrogen electrocatalysis in alkaline media, with outstanding durability and impressive catalytic activities for hydrogen oxidation reaction (geometric exchange current density of ≈6.62 mA cm -2 ) and hydrogen evolution reaction (current density of ≈1.45 A cm -2 at overpotential of 200 mV). Background: To compare the impact of tunneled cuffed catheters (TCCs) and arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) on outcomes in elderly hemodialysis (HD) patients., Methods: A retrospective matched cohort study was performed. Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to balance the baseline conditions, and we compared all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs), hospitalization, and infection rates between AVF and TCC patients ≥70 years old. Cox survival analysis was used to analyze the risk factors for death., Results: There were 2119 patients from our center in the Chinese National Renal Data System (CNRDS) between 1 January 2010 and 10 October 2023. Among these patients, 77 TCC patients were matched with 77 AVF patients. There was no significant difference in all-cause mortality between the TCC and AVF groups (30.1/100 vs. 33.3/100 patient-years, p  = 0.124). Among the propensity score-matched cohorts, no significant differences in Kaplan-Meier curves were observed between the two groups (log-rank p  = 0.242). The TCC group had higher rates of MACCEs, hospitalization, and infection than the AVF group (33.7/100 vs. 29.5/100 patient-years, 101.2/100 vs. 79.5/100 patient-years, and 30.1/100 vs. 14.1/100 patient-years, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that high Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) score was a risk factor for death., Conclusions: There was no significant difference in all-cause mortality between elderly HD patients receiving TCCs and AVFs. Compared with those with a TCC, elderly HD patients with an AVF have a lower risk of MACCEs, hospitalization, and infection.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) has emerged as a therapeutic target for B-cell malignancies, which is substantiated by the efficacy of various irreversible or reversible BTK inhibitors. However, on-target BTK mutations facilitating evasion from BTK inhibition lead to resistance that limits the therapeutic efficacy of BTK inhibitors. In this study we employed structure-based drug design strategies based on established BTK inhibitors and yielded a series of BTK targeting compounds. Among them, compound S-016 bearing a unique tricyclic structure exhibited potent BTK kinase inhibitory activity with an IC 50 value of 0.5 nM, comparable to a commercially available BTK inhibitor ibrutinib (IC 50  = 0.4 nM). S-016, as a novel irreversible BTK inhibitor, displayed superior kinase selectivity compared to ibrutinib and significant therapeutic effects against B-cell lymphoma both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, we generated BTK inhibitor-resistant lymphoma cells harboring BTK C481F or A428D to explore strategies for overcoming resistance. Co-culture of these DLBCL cells with M0 macrophages led to the polarization of M0 macrophages toward the M2 phenotype, a process known to support tumor progression. Intriguingly, we demonstrated that SYHA1813, a compound targeting both VEGFR and CSF1R, effectively reshaped the tumor microenvironment (TME) and significantly overcame the acquired resistance to BTK inhibitors in both BTK-mutated and wild-type BTK DLBCL models by inhibiting angiogenesis and modulating macrophage polarization. Pepper southern blight, caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, is a devastating soil-borne disease resulting in significant loss to pepper, Capsicum annuum L. production. Here, we isolated an antagonistic bacterial strain XQ-29 with antifungal activity against S. rolfsii from rhizospheric soil of pepper. Combining the morphological and biochemical characteristics with the 16S rDNA sequencing, XQ-29 was identified as Streptomyces griseoaurantiacus. It exhibited an inhibition of 96.83% against S. rolfsii and displayed significant inhibitory effects on Botrytis cinerea, Phytophthora capsica and Rhizoctonia solani. Furthermore, XQ-29 significantly reduced the pepper southern blight by 100% and 70.42% during seedling and growth stages, respectively. The antifungal mechanism involved altering the mycelial morphology, disrupting cell wall and membrane integrity, accompanied by accumulation of reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxidation in S. rolfsii mycelia. Furthermore, XQ-29 promoted growth and stimulated resistance of pepper plants by increasing defense-related enzyme activities and upregulating defense-related genes. Correspondingly, XQ-29 harbors numerous functional biosynthesis gene clusters in its genome, including those for siderophores and melanin production. The metabolic constituents present in the ethyl acetate extracts, which exhibited an EC 50 value of 85.48 ± 1.62 μg/mL, were identified using LC-MS. Objective: This retrospective study was conducted to investigate the application value of metagenomics next generation sequencing (mNGS) technology in the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal infectious meningitis., Methods: From 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022, 73 newborns suspected of infectious meningitis were hospitalized. After screening by inclusion and exclusion criteria, 69 newborns were subsequently included in the study, containing 27 cases with positive mNGS result and 42 cases with negative mNGS result. Furthermore, according to the diagnosis of meningitis, mNGS positive group and mNGS negative group were further divided into infectious meningitis with mNGS (+) group ( n  = 27) and infectious meningitis with mNGS (-) group ( n  = 26), respectively., Results: (1) Compared with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) culture, mNGS has better diagnostic value [positive predictive value (PPV) = 100.00% (27/27), negative predictive value (NPV) = 38.10% (16/42), agreement rate = 62.32% (43/69), area under the curve (AUC) = 0.750, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.636-0.864]. (2) There were significant differences in the onset age, age at first CSF test, CSF leukocyte count, CSF glucose, positive rate of CSF culture, blood leukocyte count, procalcitonin (PCT), C-reaction protein (CRP), age at first mNGS test and adjusting anti-infective medication in the comparison between infectious meningitis with mNGS (+) group and infectious meningitis with mNGS (-) group ( p  < 0.05). (3) mNGS could help improve the cure rate [crude odds ratio (OR) = 3.393, 95%CI: 1.072-10.737; adjusted OR = 15.580, 95%CI: 2.114-114.798]., Conclusion: Compared with classic meningitis detection methods, mNGS has better PPV, NPV, agreement rate, and AUC. mNGS could help improve the cure rate.

Patients suffering from sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) exhibit a high mortality rate, and their prognosis is closely associated with infiltration of neutrophils into the lungs. In this study, we found a significant elevation of CD64 + neutrophils, which highly expressed p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75 NTR ) in peripheral blood of mice and patients with sepsis-induced ALI. p75 NTR+ CD64 + neutrophils were also abundantly expressed in the lung of ALI mice induced by lipopolysaccharide. Conditional knock-out of the myeloid lineage's p75 NTR gene improved the survival rates, attenuated lung tissue inflammation, reduced neutrophil infiltration and enhanced the phagocytic functions of CD64 + neutrophils. In vitro, p75 NTR+ CD64 + neutrophils exhibited an upregulation and compromised phagocytic activity in blood samples of ALI patients. Blocking p75 NTR activity by soluble p75 NTR extracellular domain peptide (p75 ECD -Fc) boosted CD64 + neutrophils phagocytic activity and reduced inflammatory cytokine production via regulation of the NF-κB activity. Introduction: Glycopyrrolate is commonly researched as a preoperative medication or in conjunction with cholinesterase inhibitors to counteract the lingering muscarinic effects of non-depolarizing muscarinic agents. However, studies have yielded inconsistent results regarding the superiority of glycopyrrolate over other anti-cholinergic drugs, such as atropine, particularly its effect on heart rate, blood pressure (BP), and glandular secretions. This study aimed to evaluate the differences in perioperative oral secretions, hemodynamics, and recovery quality with glycopyrrolate versus those with atropine before anesthesia induction in children undergoing tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy., Methods: In this prospective, single-center, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial, a total of 103 children were randomly assigned to group A (n = 51, glycopyrrolate 0.005 mg/kg) or B (n = 52, atropine 0.01 mg/kg). The follow-up anesthetic induction and maintenance protocols were the same in both groups. Vital signs, duration of surgery, extubation time, degree of wetness around the vocal cords during tracheal intubation, weight of oral secretions, and perioperative complications were recorded., Results: No significant differences were observed in the degree of wetness around the vocal cords during tracheal intubation, as well as in the weight of oral secretions, duration of surgery, or extubation time, between the two groups. The intraoperative and postoperative heart rates were lower in group A than in group B (110.18 ± 10.58 vs. 114.94 ± 11.14, p = 0.028; 96.96 ± 10.81 vs. 103.38 ± 10.09, p = 0.002). The differences observed in the intraoperative and preoperative heart rates were lower in group A than in group B (23.84 ± 9.62 vs. 29.65 ± 8.75, p = 0.002). The differences observed in the postoperative and preoperative heart rates were lower in group A than in group B (10.63 ± 9.97 vs. 18.09 ± 9.39, p = 0.000)., Conclusion: Glycopyrrolate showed a smoother change in heart rate than atropine during and after tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, with no effect on BP or recovery quality, and did not increase oral secretions. The findings indicate that glycopyrrolate can serve as an alternative to atropine to prevent secretions in anesthesia induction for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in children. There is growing acknowledgment that the properties of the electrochemical interfaces play an increasingly pivotal role in improving the performance of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, we present, for the first time, direct dynamic spectral evidence illustrating the impact of the interaction between interfacial water molecules and adsorbed hydroxyl species (OH ad ) on the HER properties of Ni(OH) 2 using Au/core-Ni(OH) 2 /shell nanoparticle-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Notably, our findings highlight that the interaction between OH ad and interfacial water molecules promotes the formation of weakly hydrogen-bonded water, fostering an environment conducive to improving the HER performance. Furthermore, the participation of OH ad in the reaction is substantiated by the observed deprotonation step of Au@2 nm Ni(OH) 2 during the HER process. This phenomenon is corroborated by the phase transition of Ni(OH) 2 to NiO, as verified through Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The significant redshift in the OH-stretching frequency of water molecules during the phase transition confirms that surface OH ad disrupts the hydrogen-bond network of interfacial water molecules. Through manipulation of the shell thickness of Au@Ni(OH) 2 , we additionally validate the interaction between OH ad and interfacial water molecules. In summary, our insights emphasize the potential of electrochemical interfacial engineering as a potent approach to enhance electrocatalytic performance.

Objective: To describe the features of ETV6::ABL1 AML as well as the clinical treatment and outcomes., Methods: Clinical data were collected from three patients diagnosed with ETV6::ABL1 AML at Hebei Yanda Lu Daopei Hospital and Beijing Lu Daopei Hospital. Their clinical and laboratory features were analyzed, and the treatment process and outcomes were described. Ten reported cases of ETV6::ABL1 AML from the literature were also included for analysis., Results: The median age of the patients was 34 years, and 2 patients were male. No patient had a history of blood disorders before diagnosis. After relapse, they were referred to our hospital, where the ETV6::ABL1 gene was detected. Unfortunately, Patient 1 died rapidly after leukemia relapse due to severe infection. Patients 2 and 3 received salvage therapy with a dasatinib-containing regimen, followed by allo-HSCT, and are currently alive and disease-free., Conclusion: ETV6::ABL1 is a rare but recurrent genetic aberration in AML, and the combined use of fluorescence in situ hybridization and PCR can better identify this fusion gene. Background: ChatGPT is a large language model designed to generate responses based on a contextual understanding of user queries and requests. This study utilised the entrance examination for the Master of Clinical Medicine in Traditional Chinese Medicine to assesses the reliability and practicality of ChatGPT within the domain of medical education., Methods: We selected 330 single and multiple-choice questions from the 2021 and 2022 Chinese Master of Clinical Medicine comprehensive examinations, which did not include any images or tables. To ensure the test's accuracy and authenticity, we preserved the original format of the query and alternative test texts, without any modifications or explanations., Results: Both ChatGPT3.5 and GPT-4 attained average scores surpassing the admission threshold. Noteworthy is that ChatGPT achieved the highest score in the Medical Humanities section, boasting a correct rate of 93.75%. However, it is worth noting that ChatGPT3.5 exhibited the lowest accuracy percentage of 37.5% in the Pathology division, while GPT-4 also displayed a relatively lower correctness percentage of 60.23% in the Biochemistry section. An analysis of sub-questions revealed that ChatGPT demonstrates superior performance in handling single-choice questions but performs poorly in multiple-choice questions., Conclusion: ChatGPT exhibits a degree of medical knowledge and the capacity to aid in diagnosing and treating diseases. Nevertheless, enhancements are warranted to address its accuracy and reliability limitations. Based on the research progress and traditional usage with whole herbal of the TCM "Tianma", chemical studies herein on the flower branch of Gastrodia elata were carried out in-depth and got 13 compounds including the gastrodinols (1-4), the flavonoid morins (5-8, 11-12), together with the specialist mulberrofurans (9, 13) and gastrodiamide (10) for the first time from the species. The antibacterial and cholinesterase inhibitory activities were then evaluated and the results showed that compounds 5, 11, 12, 13 have good activity against anti-methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and compounds 9, 13 had good acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity. As a fundamental property of light, polarization serves as an excellent information encoding carrier, playing significant roles in many optical applications, including liquid crystal displays, polarization imaging, optical computation and encryption. However, conventional polarization information encoding schemes based on Malus' law usually consider 1D polarization projections on a linear basis, implying that their encoding flexibility is largely limited. Here, we propose a Poincaré sphere (PS) trajectory encoding approach with metasurfaces that leverages a generalized form of Malus' law governing universal 2D projections between arbitrary elliptical polarization pairs spanning the entire PS. Arbitrary polarization encodings are realized by engineering PS trajectories governed by either arbitrary analytic functions or aligned modulation grids of interest, leading to versatile polarization image transformation functionalities, including histogram stretching, thresholding and image encryption within non-orthogonal PS loci. Polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources are a kind of polymers extracted from medicinal plants. They are complex long chains formed by different monosaccharides connected via glucosidic bonds. These polysaccharides usually have straight chain and branched chain structures, and their relative molecular weight changes greatly. Modern studies have shown that the biological activi-ty of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources is closely related to their relative molecular weight. This paper first reviewed the preparation and detection methods of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources with different relative molecular weights. Then, the paper summarized and analyzed the general experience of the correlation between efficacy and relative molecular weight of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources with different molecular weights. It was considered that polysaccharides with large relative molecular weights(&gt;100 kDa) play a leading role in immune regulation. Polysaccharides with medium relative molecular weights(10-100 kDa) play a leading role in immune regulation and the protection of the liver. Polysaccharides with small relative molecular weights(&lt;10 kDa) play a leading role in anti-oxidation, regulation of intestinal flora, regulation of blood glucose and lipids, anti-fatigue, and the protection of nerves. Therefore, precise development of polysaccharides from medicinal plant resources based on relative molecular weight is expected to improve their biological activity and application value.

Background: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a structured, short-term psychotherapy approach that may have positive effects in terms of relieving postoperative pain. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of CBT on pain and joint function in patients after total joint arthroplasty., Methods: We searched 3 electronic databases including randomized controlled studies (RCTs) using CBT as an intervention. The main results of this study were to determine pain intensity by NRS, VAS, WOMAC pain Scale, PCS, and joint function by HHS, OKS, EQ-5D, ROM. Data extraction and quality assessment of included RCTs were independently performed by the authors and date analysis was performed by RevMan V.5.4., Results: Among the 605 studies, 9 RCTS were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. The study showed that the difference between CBT and usual care groups in PCS (≤3months), NRS, VAS (≤3months) were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the difference between CBT and usual care groups in PCS (≥12months), WOMAC Pain Scale, and VAS (≥12months) were not statistically significant (P > 0.05), indicating that CBT can improve pain in patients after arthroplasty in the early term. Drought and heat stresses usually occur concomitantly in nature, with increasing frequency and intensity of both stresses expected due to climate change. The synergistic agricultural impacts of these compound climate extremes are much greater than those of the individual stresses. However, the mechanisms by which drought and heat stresses separately and concomitantly affect dynamic photosynthesis have not been thoroughly assessed. To elucidate this, we used tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seedlings to measure dynamic photosynthesis under individual and compound stresses of drought and heat. Individual drought and heat stresses limited dynamic photosynthesis at the stages of diffusional conductance to CO2 and biochemistry, respectively. However, the primary limiting factor for photosynthesis shifted to mesophyll conductance under the compound stresses. Compared with the control, photosynthetic carbon gain in fluctuating light decreased by 38%, 73%, and 114% under the individual drought, heat, and compound stresses, respectively. Therefore, compound stresses caused a greater reduction in photosynthetic carbon gain in fluctuating light conditions than individual stress. The efficacy of growth factor gene-modified stem cells in treating spinal cord injury (SCI) remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of growth factor gene-modified stem cells in restoring motor function after SCI. Two reviewers searched four databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus, to identify relevant records. Studies on rodents assessing the efficacy of transplanting growth factor gene-modified stem cells in restoring motor function after SCI were included. The results were reported using the standardized mean difference (SMD) with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Analyses showed that growth factor gene-modified stem cell transplantation improved motor function recovery in rodents with SCI compared to the untreated (SMD = 3.98, 95% CI 3.26-4.70, I 2  = 86.8%, P < 0.0001) and stem cell (SMD = 2.53, 95% CI 1.93-3.13, I 2  = 86.9%, P < 0.0001) groups. Using growth factor gene-modified neural stem/histone cells enhanced treatment efficacy. In addition, the effectiveness increased when viral vectors were employed for gene modification and high transplantation doses were administered during the subacute phase. Stem cells derived from the human umbilical cord exhibited an advantage in motor function recovery. However, the transplantation of growth factor gene-modified stem cells did not significantly improve motor function in male rodents (P = 0.136). Transplantation of growth factor gene-modified stem cells improved motor function in rodents after SCI, but claims of enhanced efficacy should be approached with caution. Colletotrichum spp. are economically important phytopathogenic fungi that cause anthracnose in a variety of plant species worldwide. Hypovirulence-associated mycoviruses provide new options for the biological control of plant fungal diseases. Here, we found a novel partitivirus from Colletotrichum alienum and named it Colletotrichum alienum partitivirus 1 (CaPV1). CaPV1 contained two dsRNA segments encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and a capsid protein and was classified under the genus Gammapartitivirus of the family Partitiviridae . CaPV1 significantly decreased host virulence, mycelial growth, appressorial development, and appressorium turgor but increased conidial production with abnormal morphology. In addition, CaPV1 could be successfully transfected into other Colletotrichum species, including C. fructicola , C. spaethianum , and C. gloeosporioides, and caused hypovirulence, indicating the broad application potential of this virus. CaPV1 caused significant transcriptional rewiring of the host fungus C. alienum . Notably, some genes related to vesicle transport in the CaPV1-infected strain were downregulated, consistent with the impaired endocytosis pathway in this fungus. When the Rab gene CaRab7, which is associated with endocytosis in vesicle transport, was knocked out, the virulence of the mutants was reduced. Overall, our findings demonstrated that CaPV1 has the potential to control anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum , and the mechanism by which Colletotrichum induces hypovirulence is caused by affecting vesicle transport.IMPORTANCE Colletotrichum is a kind of economically important phytopathogenic fungi that cause anthracnose disease in a variety of plant species worldwide. We found a novel mycovirus of the Gammapartitiviru s genus and Partitiviridae family from the phytopathogenic fungus Colletotrichum alienum and named it CaPV1. This study revealed that CaPV1 infection significantly decreased host virulence and fitness by affecting mycelial growth, appressorial development, and appressorium turgor. In addition, CaPV1 could also infect other Colletotrichum species, including C. fructicola , C. spaethianum , and C. gloeosporioides , by viral particle transfection and resulting in hypovirulence of these Colletotrichum species. Transcriptomic analysis showed that CaPV1 caused significant transcriptional rewiring of the host fungus C. alienum , especially the genes involved in vesicle transport. Moreover, endocytosis and gene knockout assays demonstrated that the mechanism underlying CaPV1-induced hypovirulence is, at least in part, caused by affecting the vesicle transport of the host fungus. Monocyte aberrations have been increasingly recognized as contributors to renal damage in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), however, recognition of the underlying mechanisms and modulating strategies is at an early stage. Our studies have demonstrated that brain-derived neurotrophic factor precursor (proBDNF) drives the progress of SLE by perturbing antibody-secreting B cells, and proBDNF facilitates pro-inflammatory responses in monocytes. By utilizing peripheral blood from patients with SLE, GEO database and spontaneous MRL/lpr lupus mice, we demonstrated in the present study that CX3CR1 + patrolling monocytes (PMo) numbers were decreased in SLE. ProBDNF was specifically expressed in CX3CR1 + PMo and was closely correlated with disease activity and the degree of renal injury in SLE patients. In MRL/lpr mice, elevated proBDNF was found in circulating PMo and the kidney, and blockade of proBDNF restored the balance of circulating and kidney-infiltrating PMo. This blockade also led to the reversal of pro-inflammatory responses in monocytes and a noticeable improvement in renal damage in lupus mice. Overall, the results indicate that the upregulation of proBDNF in PMo plays a crucial role in their infiltration into the kidney, thereby contributing to nephritis in SLE. Holography holds tremendous promise in applications such as immersive virtual reality and optical communications. With the emergence of optical metasurfaces, planar optical components that have the remarkable ability to precisely manipulate the amplitude, phase, and polarization of light on the subwavelength scale have expanded the potential applications of holography. However, the realization of metasurface-based full-color vectorial holography remains particularly challenging. Here, we report a general approach utilizing a modified Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm to achieve spatially aligned full-color display and incorporating wavelength information with an image compensation strategy. We combine the Pancharatnam-Berry phase and pairs of exceptional points to address the issue of redundant twin images that generally appear for the two orthogonal circular polarizations and to enable full polarization control of the vectorial field. Our results enable the realization of an asymmetric full-color vectorial meta-hologram, paving the way for the development of full-color display, complex beam generation, and secure data storage applications.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by the infiltration of inflammatory cells and demyelination of nerves. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in the pathogenesis of MS, as studies have shown abnormalities in mitochondrial activities, metabolism, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) levels, and mitochondrial morphology in immune cells of individuals with MS. The presence of mitochondrial dysfunctions in immune cells contributes to immunological dysregulation and neurodegeneration in MS. This review provided a comprehensive overview of mitochondrial dysfunction in immune cells associated with MS, focusing on the potential consequences of mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming on immune function. Dynamic access to quasi-bound states in the continuum (q-BICs) offers a highly desired platform for silicon-based active nanophotonic applications, while the prevailing tuning approaches by free carrier injections via an all-optical stimulus are yet limited to THz and infrared ranges and are less effective in visible bands. In this work, we present the realization of active manipulations on q-BICs for nanoscale optical switching in the visible by introducing a local index perturbation through a photothermal mechanism. The sharp q-BIC resonance exhibits an ultrasensitive susceptibility to the complex index perturbation, which can be flexibly fulfilled by optical heating of silicon. Consequently, a mild pump intensity of 1 MW/cm 2 can yield a modification of the imaginary part of the refractive index of less than 0.05, which effectively suppresses the sharp q-BIC resonances and renders an active modulation depth of reflectance exceeding 80%. Our research might open up an enabling platform for ultrasensitive dynamic nanophotonic devices.

Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have demonstrated that combining Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) with oxaliplatin plus tegafur (SOX) chemotherapy regimens improves clinical effectiveness and reduces adverse reactions in patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC). These RCTs highlight the potential applications of CHIs and their impact on AGC patient prognosis. However, there is insufficient comparative evidence on the clinical effectiveness and safety of different CHIs when combined with SOX. Therefore, we performed a network meta-analysis to rank the clinical effectiveness and safety of different CHIs when combined with SOX chemotherapy regimens. This study aimed to provide evidence for selecting appropriate CHIs in the treatment of patients with AGC. Methods: We searched eight databases from their inception until March 2023. Surface Under the Cumulative Ranking Curve (SUCRA) probability values were used to rank the treatment measures, and the Confidence in Network Meta-Analysis (CINeMA) software assessed the grading of evidence. Results: A total of 51 RCTs involving 3,703 AGC patients were identified. Huachansu injections + SOX demonstrated the highest clinical effectiveness (SUCRA: 78.17%), significantly reducing the incidence of leukopenia (93.35%), thrombocytopenia (80.19%), and nausea and vomiting (95.15%). Shenfu injections + SOX improved Karnofsky's Performance Status (75.59%) and showed a significant reduction in peripheral neurotoxicity incidence (88.26%). Aidi injections + SOX were most effective in reducing the incidence of liver function damage (75.16%). According to CINeMA, most confidence rating results were classified as "low". Conclusion: The combination of CHIs and SOX shows promising effects in the treatment of AGC compared to SOX alone. Huachansu and Shenfu injections offer the greatest overall advantage among the CHIs, while Aidi injections are optimal for reducing the incidence of liver damage. Objectives: The aim of this study was to estimate the association between household income and dental flossing., Methods: This cross-sectional study investigated the impact of household income on flossing among 9,391 adults aged 30+ with ≥20 natural teeth, utilizing data from the seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2018). Outcome measures included flossing (yes/no), with income categorized into 4 levels: lowest, medium to low, medium to high, and highest. Logistic regression, adjusted for age, gender, brushing frequency, recent dental exams, periodontitis, smoking, and alcohol use, was employed to evaluate the influence of socioeconomic status on oral hygiene practices., Results: In the highest income group, flossing was 62.6% more prevalent than in the lowest income group (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.63; 95% CI, 1.27 to 2.08). The strongest association between income levels and flossing was observed in individuals aged ≥70 years (aOR, 3.64; 95% CI, 1.86 to 7.11), with a decreasing strength of association in the 60s (aOR, 1.72; 95% CI, 1.05 to 2.84) and 50s age groups (aOR, 1.69; 95% CI, 1.07 to 2.68). Higher-income women demonstrated a higher frequency of flossing than their lower-income counterparts (aOR, 1.67; 95% CI, 1.24 to 2.23). Higher-income individuals without periodontitis were more likely to floss (aOR, 1.64; 95% CI, 1.23 to 2.18), and among those with periodontitis, flossing was significantly associated only with the highest income category (aOR, 1.64; 95% CI, 1.10 to 2.44)., Conclusions: The findings of this study indicate a significant correlation between higher household income levels and an increased prevalence of flossing.

Objective: Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive malignancy with high mortality, and cancer cell stemness and related drug resistance are considered important contributors to its poor prognosis. The objective of this study was to identify regulatory targets associated with the maintenance of pancreatic cancer stemness., Materials and Methods: Pancreatic tumor samples were collected from patients at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, followed by immunofluorescence analysis. Pancreatic cancer cell lines with Interleukin-20 receptor subunit beta (IL20RB) overexpression and knockdown were established, and clonal formation, spheroid formation and side population cell analysis were conducted. The effects of IL20RB knockdown on the tumor-forming ability of pancreatic cancer cells and chemotherapy resistance in vivo were explored., Results: IL20RB expression was significantly upregulated in pancreatic cancer tissues, and was correlated with unfavorable prognosis. The IL20RB receptor promotes stemness and chemoresistance in both in vitro and in vivo models of pancreatic cancer. Mechanistically, IL20RB enhances the stemness and chemoresistance of pancreatic cancer by promoting STAT3 phosphorylation, an effect that can be counteracted by a STAT3 phosphorylation inhibitors. Additionally, Interleukin-19 derived from the microenvironment is identified as the primary ligand for IL20RB in mediating these effects., Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate that IL20RB plays a crucial role in promoting stemness in pancreatic cancer. Rhizoctonia solani is a widespread and devastating plant pathogenic fungus that infects many important crops. This pathogen causes tobacco target spot, a disease that is widespread in many tobacco-growing countries and is destructive to tobacco. To identify antagonistic microorganisms with biocontrol potential against this disease, we isolated Streptomyces strains from forest inter-root soil and screened a promising biocontrol strain, ZZ-21. Based on in vitro antagonism assays, ZZ-21 showed a significant inhibitory effect on R. solani and various other phytopathogens. ZZ-21 was identified as Streptomyces olivoreticuli by its phenotypic, genetic, physiological and biochemical properties. Complete genome sequencing revealed that ZZ-21 harbored numerous antimicrobial biosynthesis gene clusters. ZZ-21 significantly reduced the lesion length in detached inoculated leaf assays and reduced the disease index under greenhouse and field conditions. Based on an in vitro antagonistic assay of ZZ-21 culture, the strain exhibited an antifungal activity against R. solani in a dose-dependent manner. The culture filtrate could impair membrane integrity, possibly through membrane lipid peroxidation. ZZ-21 could secrete multiple extracellular enzymes and siderophores. According to a series of antifungal assays, the extracellular metabolites of ZZ-21 contained antimicrobial bioactive compounds composed of proteins/peptides extracted using ammonium sulfate precipitation, which were stable under stress caused by high temperature and protease K. The EC 50 value for ammonium sulfate precipitation was determined to be 21.11 μg/mL in this study. Moreover, the proteins/peptides also exhibited biocontrol ability and were observed to alter the plasma membrane integrity of R. solani which were evaluated by biocontrol efficacy assays on detached tobacco leaves and PI staining. Background: Advanced pancreatic cancer (APC) is a fatal disease with limited treatment options. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of different Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) as adjuvants for radiotherapy (RT) in APC and compare their treatment potentials using network meta-analysis., Methods: We systematically searched three English and four Chinese databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception to July 25, 2023. The primary outcome was the objective response rate (ORR). Secondary outcomes included Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score, overall survival (OS), and adverse events (AEs). The treatment potentials of different CHIs were ranked using the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA). The Cochrane RoB 2 tool and CINeMA were used for quality assessment and evidence grading., Results: Eighteen RCTs involving 1199 patients were included. Five CHIs were evaluated. Compound Kushen injection (CKI) combined with RT significantly improved ORR compared to RT alone (RR 1.49, 95 % CrI 1.21-1.86). Kanglaite (KLT) plus RT (RR 1.58, 95 % CrI 1.20-2.16) and CKI plus RT (RR 1.49, 95 % CrI 1.16-1.95) were associated with improved KPS score compared to radiation monotherapy, with KLT+RT being the highest rank (SUCRA 72.28 %). Regarding AEs, CKI plus RT was the most favorable in reducing the incidence of leukopenia (SUCRA 90.37 %) and nausea/vomiting (SUCRA 85.79 %)., Conclusions: CKI may be the optimal choice of CHIs to combine with RT for APC as it may improve clinical response, quality of life, and reduce AEs. Background: To determine the utility of contrast-enhanced voiding urography (CeVUS) in the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) through ureterovesical reimplantation in children., Methods: A total of 159 children with recurrent urinary tract infections were selected for CeVUS and voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) from December 2018 to December 2020, among whom 78 patients were eventually diagnosed with VUR. Overall, 60 pyelo-ureteric units (PUUs) were operated according to surgical indications. Accordingly, we determined the general clinical characteristics of all children, obtained two-dimensional ultrasound images, assessed the reflux status of children using the contrast-enhanced technique, and compared the obtained results via CeVUS and VCUG. Both imaging modalities were reperformed at 6, 12, and 18 months after surgery to evaluate postoperative outcomes. In particular, we assessed the consistency of the evaluation and calculated the diagnostic efficacy of CeVUS for different levels of reflux at different time points., Results: CeVUS showed considerable efficacy in the diagnosis of children with VUR. Notably, the diagnostic results of both CeVUS and VCUG achieved high agreement, with a kappa value of 0.966 (P < 0.001). Endocrine dysregulation in the presence of environmental chemical risk factors is a global adverse health concern. The aim of this investigation was to explore the structural changes and binding affinity of thyroxine (T4) binding protein (TBG) upon interaction with SiO 2 particles as the second largest mineral in the Earth's crust and one of the most important constituents of rock, soil, and dust. Therefore, the interaction of TBG with SiO 2 particles was assessed by fluorescence quenching, molecular docking, ANS and synchronous fluorescence, and far-UV CD analyses. Also, the release of TBG from human hepatoblastoma cell line, Hep G2, was assessed by ELISA assay. The results displayed that the value of stoichiometry of binding site (n) of TBG for T4 was approximately equal to one, which was reduced to 0.36 in the presence of SiO 2 particles. Also, the binding affinity (K b ) values revealed that the binding affinity between T4 and TBG was strong (97.90 × 10 5 L/mol), while the presence of SiO 2 particles resulted in the calculation of a K b around 0.00159 × 10 5 L/mol, which was significantly lower than that of the absence of SiO 2 particles. This data was also verified by molecular docking analyses which indicated that SiO 2 particles interacted with the T4 binding pocket of TBG. Moreover, further studies exhibited that although the equimolar concentration of T4 to TBG resulted in the superior stability of TBG-T4 complex relative to free TBG, the presence of SiO 2 particles with the same concentration led to denaturation of the secondary structure of TBG. Furthermore, it was seen that the amount of released TBG in the cell culture medium of Hep G2 was about 2.21 ng/mL protein, whereas this amount in SiO 2 particles-treated cell group was significantly reduced to 1.71 ng/mL protein (*P < 0.05). Objectives: To observe the effect of Yiyuan moxibustion on urodynamics and the expressions of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), tyrosine protein kinase KIT (C-Kit) and adenosine triphosphate receptor P2X5 in bladder tissue of rats with detrusor reflex-free neurogenic bladder (NB) after sacral cord injury (SCI), so as to explore its mechanism in promoting the recovery of urination function of NB rats., Methods: Female SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation, model, Yiyuan moxibustion, Yiyuan moxibustion+inhibitor (combination) and inhibitor groups, with 12 rats in each group. The model of detruser reflex-free NB after sacral SCI was established by modified Hassan Shaker spinal cord transection method. The behavioral score of Basso Beasttie Bresnahan (BBB) and urodynamic indexes were used to evaluate the model of rats after operation. Fifteen days after modeling, Yiyuan moxibustion was applied to "Shenque" (CV8) and "Guanyuan" (CV4) for 20 min, once daily for 14 days. Rats of the inhibitor and combination groups were given intravesical instillation of HC067047 (1 mL, 1 μmol/L, 30 min). After the interventions, urodynamics was used to evaluate the bladder function of rats. HE staining was used to observe the morphology of bladder tissue. ATP content in bladder tissue was detected by colorimetric method. The positive expression rates of C-Kit and their receptor P2X5 in bladder tissue were observed by immunofluorescence double labeling method, and TRPV4, C-Kit, and P2X5 protein expression levels in bladder tissue were detected by Western blot., Results: Compared with the sham operation group, the maximum bladder capacity and bladder compliance of rats in the model group were increased ( P <0.01), the leak point pressure, ATP content, the possitive expression rates of C-Kit and P2X5, and the protein expression levels of TRPV4, C-Kit, P2X5 in bladder tissue were decreased ( P <0.01). In comparison with the model and combination groups, the Yiyuan moxibustion group showed a decrease in maximum bladder capacity and bladder compliance ( P <0.01), an increase in leakage point pressure, ATP content, the possitive expression rates of C-Kit and P2X5, and TRPV4, C-Kit, and P2X5 protein expression levels ( P <0.01, P <0.05)；However, these indicators showed opposite trends in the inhibitor group ( P <0.01, P <0.05)., Conclusions: Yiyuan moxibustion can improve the urodynamics and bladder function in rats with bladder detrusor nonreflective after SCI, which may be related to its effect in activating the TRPV4 channel in bladder tissue, promoting the release of ATP from bladder epithelium, thus increasing the expression of bladder Cajal interstitial cells and their purinergic P2X5 receptors.

This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with puncture site bleeding following percutaneous puncture of the common femoral artery during interventional treatment of cerebrovascular disease (CVD). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 710 patients who underwent interventional treatment for CVD via femoral artery puncture. Among them, 26 individuals (3.66%) experienced bleeding at the femoral artery puncture site. Binary logistic regression analysis was performed to identify risk factors for puncture site bleeding. The impact of salt bag compression on postoperative bleeding was evaluated in patients with intermediate to high bleeding risk scores. The bleeding group showed higher blood pressure, lower platelet counts, longer prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time, as well as a higher prevalence of larger vascular sheath sizes and variations in the timing of anti-coagulant and anti-platelet therapy administration. The bleeding risk score was higher in the bleeding group, indicating its predictive value for bleeding risk. Higher bleeding risk score, unstable blood pressure, repeated puncture, and serious vascular conditions were significant risk factors for puncture site bleeding. Application of salt bag compression for a duration of 2 hours reduced postoperative puncture site bleeding in patients with intermediate to high bleeding risk scores. Our study identified several significant risk factors for puncture site bleeding after cerebral vascular intervention via femoral artery puncture, including the bleeding risk score, blood pressure, repeated puncture, and vascular conditions. Implementing salt bag compression as a preventive measure can help mitigate bleeding complications in these high-risk patients.

Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a devastating disease worldwide; however, effective therapeutic drugs are lacking. This study investigated the effects and underlying mechanisms of LCZ696 treatment on hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension. Male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were kept in a hypobaric chamber with an oxygen concentration of 5% for 4 weeks. Rats were treated with either LCZ696 (18 mg/kg, 36 mg/kg, and 72 mg/kg) or sildenafil. The mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP), right ventricle hypertrophy index (RVHI), and lung system index were measured. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, Masson staining, and immunofluorescence staining were used for histological analysis. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits were used to determine the concentrations of inflammatory and hypoxia-related factors. Western blotting was used to examine the expression of apoptotic and PI3K/AKT signaling pathway proteins in rat lung tissue. Hypoxia increased mPAP, RVHI, and lung system index and induced pulmonary vascular remodeling, pulmonary arteriomyosis, and pulmonary artery fibrosis. LCZ696 treatment reduced the increase in mPAP, RVHI, and the lung system index and ameliorated the induced pathological changes. Hypoxia upregulated expression of NF-kB, TNF-α, IL-6, HIF-1α, and Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), decreased the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2, and activated the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in lung tissue, and these effects were partially reversed by treatment with LCZ696. These results demonstrated that LCZ696 can ameliorate hypoxia-induced HPH by suppressing apoptosis, inhibiting the inflammatory response, and inhibiting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Chronic HBV infection patients who do not conform to any of the usual immune states are regarded as 'grey zone' patients. We aimed to investigate the proportion of chronic HBV infection patients in the grey zone, and evaluate the clinical characteristics and liver pathological changes in grey zone patients. Clinical data of 1391 treatment-naive chronic HBV infection patients with liver biopsy were collected. Natural history of HBV infection was determined based on European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) 2017, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) 2018 and Chinese 2019 guidelines for the prevention and treatment of chronic HBV infection. Significant liver histological changes and associated risk factors of normal ALT grey zone patients were analysed. According to EASL, AASLD and Chinese criteria, there were 50.0%, 28% and 37.4% chronic HBV infection patients in the grey zone. Among the 353 grey zone patients with normal ALT, 72.4% had significant liver histological changes. ALT (optimal cut-off value 25 IU/L) and HBV DNA (optimal cut-off value 18,000 IU/mL) were independent risk factors of significant liver histological abnormalities. In conclusion, a substantial proportion of grey zone patients with normal ALT have significant liver histological changes that can be predicted by levels of serum ALT and HBV DNA. Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy between electroacupuncture(EA) and moxibustion for neurogenic bladder (NB) after spinal cord injury (SCI)., Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with NB after SCI were randomly divided into an EA group, a moxibustion group, and an intermittent catheterization group, with 40 patients in each group. The patients in the intermittent catheterization group were treated with routine treatment and intermittent catheterization, while the patients in the EA group and the moxibustion group were treated with additional treatments of EA (discontinuous wave, with a frequency of 1.3-1.6 Hz, and intensity based on patient tolerance) and moxibustion, respectively. The acupoints used in both groups were Zhongji (CV 3) and Guanyuan (CV 4), bilateral Zusanli (ST 36), Yinlingquan (SP 9), and Baliao points. Each session lasted for 30 min, once daily, six times a week, for a total of six weeks.The maximum bladder capacity (MBC), residual urine vdume (RUV), detrusor pressure (Pdet) during the filling phase, bladder compliance (BC), maximum renal pelvis separation width of both kidneys, urine white blood cell count, TCM syndrome score, and World Health Organization quality of life assessment-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) score were compared before and after treatment in the 3 groups. The number of patients in each group who achieved bladder functional balance was recorded, and the clinical efficacy was assessed after treatment., Results: After treatment, the MBC, Pdet, BC, and WHOQOL-BREF scores in the EA group and the moxibustion group were increased ( P <0.05), while the RUV, maximum renal pelvis separation width of both kidneys, urine white blood cell count, and TCM syndrome scores were decreased ( P <0.05, P <0.01). In the intermittent catheterization group, MBC, RUV, maximum renal pelvis separation width of both kidneys, and urine white blood cell count were decreased ( P <0.05), while BC and WHOQOL-BREF score were increased ( P <0.05) after treatment. After treatment, the MBC, Pdet, BC, and WHOQOL-BREF scores in the EA group and the moxibustion group were higher than those in the intermittent catheterization group ( P <0.05), while the RUV and TCM syndrome scores were lower than those in the intermittent catheterization group ( P <0.05). Moreover, after treatment, the MBC and Pdet in the moxibustion group were higher than those in the EA group ( P <0.05), while the RUV, maximum renal pelvis separation width of both kidneys, and TCM syndrome score in the EA group were lower than those in the moxibustion group ( P <0.05). The number of patients who achieved bladder functional balance after treatment in the EA group and the moxibustion group was higher than that in the intermittent catheterization group ( P <0.05). The cured and effective rate was 85.0% (34/40) in the EA group and 82.5% (33/40) in the moxibustion group, which were both higher than 65.0% (26/40) in the intermittent catheterization group ( P <0.05), there was no significant difference between the EA group and the moxibustion group ( P >0.05)., Conclusion: EA and moxibustion could effectively improve the functional state of bladder in patients with NB after SCI. EA is more effective in reducing residual urine volume and excessive activity of the urethral sphincter, and relieving TCM syndromes, while moxibustion is more effective in increasing the pressure of the detrusor during the filling period and establishing the detrusor reflex.

Background: Exercise intervention (EI) is a promising and economical way for elderly patients with hip fracture, but the evidence regarding effective EIs remains fragmented and controversial, and it is unclear which type of exercise is optimal. The purpose of this Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) is to compare and rank the efficacy of various EIs in elderly patients with hip fracture., Materials and Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed using a systematic approach across various databases including Medline (via PubMed), CINAHL, CNKI, Web of Science, Wan Fang, Embase, VIP, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and CBM databases. The search encompasses all available records from the inception of each database until December 2022. The Inclusion literature comprises randomized controlled trials that incorporate at least one EI for elderly patients with hip fracture. We will assess the risk of bias of the studies in accordance with the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions, and assess each evidence of outcome quality in accordance with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation framework. The NMA will be performed by STATA 15.0 software and OpenBUGS version 3.2.3. The identification of publication bias will be accomplished through the utilization of a funnel plot. We will rank the EIs effects according to the cumulative ranking probability curve (surface under the cumulative ranking area, SUCRA). This review aims to sum up how Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) regulate the development of periodontitis and provides a new perspective for understanding the pathogenesis of periodontitis. We explored the ncRNA's dual role in the development of periodontitis by summarizing evidence from previous in vivo and in vitro studies as well as clinical samples. In our review, the downregulation of 18 miRNAs, 22 lncRNAs and 10 circRNAs demonstrates protective roles in periodontitis. In contrast, the expression of other 11 miRNAs, 7 lncRNAs and 6 circRNAs are upregulated in periodontitis, which promote the progression of periodontitis. These dysregulated ncRNAs exert their protective or destructive roles by mainly influencing cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis via cross-talking with various molecules or signaling pathways. Background: Chinese medicine belly button application (CMBBA) has been used to treat childhood diarrhea (CD) in several randomized controlled trials (RCTs), but its effectiveness and combination strategy still need to be clarified. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and the optimal combination strategy of CMBBA in treating CD., Methods: Up until January 2023, we searched for studies that met our inclusion criteria in six databases, including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Chinese SinoMed, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang. Heterogeneity was quantified using I 2 statistics. A methodological evaluation was performed using the Cochrane Risk Bias Tool 2.0. The Confidence in Network Meta-Analysis online software was employed to evaluate evidence grading. A minimally contextualized framework was used to provide a comprehensive conclusion for the network meta-analysis. This study protocol was registered with PROSPERO., Results: We analyzed data from 33 RCTs that included 4,490 children with diarrhea. In terms of clinical effectiveness, CMBBA plus montmorillonite powder plus anti-infectives may be the most effective treatment option for children with diarrhea and concurrent infection according to a minimally contextualized framework. Either exclusive use of CMBBA or CMBBA in combination with modern medicine was beneficial in reducing the time to diarrhea disappearance (MD = -1.33 days, 95% CI: -1.59 to -1.08, Z  = -10.103, p  < 0.001) compared to modern medicine exclusively, and the difference was statistically significant. The combined usage of CMBBA could shorten the recovery time of dehydration by an average of 0.74 days (MD = -0.74 days, 95% CI: -1.10 to -0.37, Z  = -3.931.103, p  < 0.001). While some studies have reported mild allergic reactions and mild abdominal pain after CMBBA use, these symptoms can be cured in a relatively short period of time., Conclusions: The combination of CMBBA, montmorillonite powder, and anti-infectives may provide superior clinical effectiveness for children with diarrhea and concurrent infection. To treat CD, CMBBA can be used effectively and safely. However, the findings must be interpreted with cautiously due to the limited number of clinical trials and the low quality of the studies. Objectives: The effect of breastfeeding on periodontal disease in women remains unclear. This cross-sectional study used data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to explore the association between breastfeeding and periodontitis in Korean women using data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VII)., Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional data was analyzed from the KNHANES 2016-2018. The study population included 5,587 parous women aged ≥ 30 years. The outcome variable was the presence or absence of periodontitis. The explanatory variable, period of breastfeeding, was defined as "none", "1-11 months", and "more than 12 months". Confounder variables (socio-educational, personal healthcare practice, and systemic medical characteristics) were adjusted for in the logistic regression analysis., Results: Approximately 60% of the participants breastfed for ≥ 12 months. In all statistical models, the prevalence of periodontitis was approximately 60% greater in women that did not breastfeed compared to women that had breastfed for 12 months or longer. When adjusted for age, statistical significance was only present in the 50-59 years age group (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.678; 95% confidence interval [CIs], 1.046-2.691)., Conclusion: Our study shows that women that breastfed for a relatively long duration had a lower risk of periodontitis. Sedum plumbizincicola is a perennial succulent herb that can hyperaccumulate high concentrations of cadmium and zinc (Liu et al. 2017). In October 2021, a leaf spot disease occurred on S. plumbizincicola seedlings in a nursery in Changsha (28°13' N; 112°56'E), the Hunan Province of China. Almost 30% of the nearly 1 million seedlings were infected. Symptoms initially appeared as small brown spots on the leaf surface or edges, gradually enlarged, becoming oval, and bearing chlorotic lesions with dark brown borders. Eventually, the center of the lesions became sunken and then fell off. Eight symptomatic plant samples were collected by five-point sampling method (Zheng et al. 2018). Small pieces of 5×5 mm were excised from the lesion margins, sterilized with 70% ethanol for 10 s, 0.1% HgCl2 for 40 s, rinsed with sterile distilled water three times, and then cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDA) at 26 °C for 5 days in the dark. Fungal colonies showing similar morphology were observed from all the isolated samples and, in total, eight fungal strains were obtained. On PDA, fungal colonies were initially white, and later become light gray. After cultured on V8 juice agar (V8A, each litre of medium contains 200 mL of V8 juice, 3 g of CaCO3 and 15 g of agarose) for 14 days (Hyowon et al. 2016), conidia of a representative isolate SY-1 were produced, which were oblong, muriform, with blunt ends and conical apex, pale to light brown, and constricted at the 1 to 3 major transverse septa, 38.34-46.68 μm×11.67-18.34 μm (n=50). These morphological characteristics were consistent with that of Stemphylium lycopersici (Nasehi et al. 2016). The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of rDNA and the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) gene of representative isolates SY-1 to SY-3 were amplified and sequenced using the primer pairs ITS4/ITS5 and gpd1/gpd2 as described previously (Woudenberg et al. 2017). BLASTn analysis showed that ITS sequences of isolates SY-1, SY-2 and SY-3 (accession nos. OP317641, OQ852042 and OQ852043) had more than 99% identity with Stemphylium sp, while GAPDH sequences (OP331223, OQ858620 and OQ858621) had 100% identity with S. lycopersici KR911813 (Sun et al. 2016). A concatenated ITS-GAPDH phylogenetic tree grouped our isolates within the S. lycopersici clade. For the pathogenicity test, one-month-old potted S. plumbizincicola seedlings were inoculated with conidia suspension (105 conidia/ml), which was induced on V8A. Four sites of each leaf of the potted S. plumbizincicola plants were dropped with a conidia suspension of strain SY-1, with 10 μL per site. Leaves treated with sterile water were served as controls. All of the inoculated seedlings were placed in a growth chamber at 26°C with a photoperiod of 12 h. The pathogenicity tests were repeated twice, with each had three replicative plants. After 7 days, all the inoculated leaves developed brown spots resembling those observed in the nursery, whereas the control plants remained symptomless. Stemphylium lycopersici was specifically re-isolated and identified by morphological and molecular methods (accession nos. OQ852045 for ITS and OQ858622 for GAPDH, respectively), thus fulfilling Koch's postulates. To our knowledge, this is the first report of S. lycopersici causing leaf spot on S. plumbizincicola in China. Since S. plumbizincicola played an important role and widely planted for heavy metal pollution treatment (Jiang et al. 2010), and this disease might seriously influence the S. plumbizincicola seedling breeding, identification of the pathogen might provide a foundation for the diagnosis and control of the disease.

Background: An effective and safe treatment for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) is lacking., Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture, doxylamine-pyridoxine, and a combination of both in women with moderate to severe NVP., Design: Multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 2 × 2 factorial trial. (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04401384)., Setting: 13 tertiary hospitals in mainland China from 21 June 2020 to 2 February 2022., Participants: 352 women in early pregnancy with moderate to severe NVP., Intervention: Participants received daily active or sham acupuncture for 30 minutes and doxylamine-pyridoxine or placebo for 14 days., Measurements: The primary outcome was the reduction in Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis (PUQE) score at the end of the intervention at day 15 relative to baseline. Secondary outcomes included quality of life, adverse events, and maternal and perinatal complications., Results: No significant interaction was detected between the interventions ( P = 0.69). Participants receiving acupuncture (mean difference [MD], -0.7 [95% CI, -1.3 to -0.1]), doxylamine-pyridoxine (MD, -1.0 [CI, -1.6 to -0.4]), and the combination of both (MD, -1.6 [CI, -2.2 to -0.9]) had a larger reduction in PUQE score over the treatment course than their respective control groups (sham acupuncture, placebo, and sham acupuncture plus placebo). Compared with placebo, a higher risk for births with children who were small for gestational age was observed with doxylamine-pyridoxine (odds ratio, 3.8 [CI, 1.0 to 14.1])., Limitation: The placebo effects of the interventions and natural regression of the disease were not evaluated., Conclusion: Both acupuncture and doxylamine-pyridoxine alone are efficacious for moderate and severe NVP. However, the clinical importance of this effect is uncertain because of its modest magnitude. Stomata are pores found in the epidermis of stems or leaves that modulate both plant gas exchange and water/nutrient uptake. The development and function of plant stomata are regulated by a diverse range of environmental cues. However, how carbohydrate status in preexisting leaves might determine systemic stomatal formation within newly developing leaves has remained obscure. The glucose (Glc) sensor HEXOKINASE1 (HXK1) has been reported to decrease the stability of an ethylene/Glc signaling transcriptional regulator, EIN3 (ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE3). EIN3 in turn directly represses the expression of SUC2 ( sucrose transporter 2 ), encoding a master transporter of sucrose (Suc). Further, KIN10, a nuclear regulator involved in energy homeostasis, has been reported to repress the transcription factor SPCH (SPEECHLESS), a master regulator of stomatal development. Here, we demonstrate that the Glc status of preexisting leaves determines systemic stomatal development within newly developing leaves by the HXK1-¦EIN3-¦SUC2 module. Further, increasing Glc levels in preexisting leaves results in a HXK1-dependent decrease of EIN3 and increase of SUC2, triggering the perception, amplification and relay of HXK1-dependent Glc signaling and thereby triggering Suc transport from mature to newly developing leaves. The HXK1-¦EIN3-¦SUC2 molecular module thereby drives systemic Suc transport from preexisting leaves to newly developing leaves. Subsequently, increasing Suc levels within newly developing leaves promotes stomatal formation through the established KIN10⟶ SPCH module. Our findings thus show how a carbohydrate signal in preexisting leaves is sensed, amplified and relayed to determine the extent of systemic stomatal development within newly developing leaves.

Objective: This study was aimed to explore the role of AhR in the neurotoxicity of adult zebrafish induced by three typical bisphenol compounds (BPA, BPS, TBBPA) at environmentally relevant doses., Methods: The adult zebrafish were randomly divided into solvent control group (DMSO) and AhR inhibitor CH223191 (CH) group (0.05 μmol/L), bisphenol exposure groups (10, 100, 1000 nmol/L) and combined exposure groups (0.05 μmol/L CH and 1000 nmol/L bisphenol compounds). Each tank contained 8 fish (4 male and 4 female), and two parallel tanks were set synchronously. After 30 days of exposure, zebrafish were put on ice plate for anesthesia, weighed and measured for body length, and dissected for brain tissue. The gene expression was detected by RT-qPCR, and the activities of antioxidant enzymes were detected by commercial kits. SPSS 26.0 was used to analyze the data. Additionally, GO, KEGG and principal component analysis (PCA) were carried out., Results: Compared with the solvent control group, there were no significant differences in body weight and length among the exposed groups. In general, exposure to bisphenol compounds could affect the expression of Ahr2 and AhR target genes ( cyp1a1, cyp1a2, and cyp1c1 ), key genes of neural function ( elavl3 , gfap, mbp, syn2a, gap43, Zn5, shha, and ache ), oxidative stress related genes ( nrf2, gpx1a, gstp1/gstp1.2, gstp2/gstp1.1, sod1, sod2, and cat ), and the activities of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT and GSH-Px/GPX) in zebrafish brain tissue to some extent. Compared with the groups exposed to bisphenols alone, CH could antagonize the above interference effects caused by bisphenols to some extent. Therefore, the toxic effects of BPA, BPS and TBBPA might be produced through similar mechanisms., Conclusion: Environmentally related doses of bisphenols (BPA, BPS, TBBPA) could disturb the expression of key molecules of oxidative stress and neural function through activating the AhR signaling pathway, and ultimately lead to neurotoxicity., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper, (© 2023 The Authors.)
