Isotropic Sm-Fe-N bonded magnets were obtained by additive manufacturing (AM). The technique used was the so-called powder bed fusion (PBF) and the feedstock was composed of a polymeric binder (PA-12) and Sm-Fe-N flake particles (Nitroquench-P). The AM set-up equipment uses a computer-controlled CO2laser beam to melt the binder and constructs magnets layer-by-layer. In order to develop this study, a cylinder with 10 mm of both height and diameter was selected as the shape of samples. Specimens were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Magnetic properties were measured in a hysteresis graph. XRD results indicate that there is no degradation of the main magnetic phase (SmFe7Nx). In the AM component, porous regions were identified on SEM micrographs, as well as magnetic particles and polymeric binder. Remanence values (Br) as great as 0.3 T are achieved, while intrinsic coercivities remain in the range from 616 up to 642 kA/m. An additional isostatic compression of the parts results in greater remanence, which is directly proportional to the density increase. Coercivity is also sensitive to the porosity decrease, probably due to a better interlocking of particles. Current results indicate AM as a promising route for near net-shape manufacturing of Sm-Fe-N permanent magnets, a market niche yet to be widely explored.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of solute content (hipoperitectic Al–0.22wt.%Zr and hiperperitectic Al–0.32wt.%Zr) on the precipitation hardening and microstructural evolution of dilute Al–Zr alloys isothermally aged. The materials were conventionally cast in a muffle furnace, solidified in a water-cooled Cu mold and subsequently heat-treated at the temperature of 650K (377°C) for 4, 12, 24, 100 and 400h. Mechanical characterization was performed at room temperature, using a microhardness tester and microstructural characterization was carried out on a Transmission Electron Microscope – TEM. The observed microhardness values increased during isothermal aging, due to the precipitation of nanometer-scale Al3Zr L12particles. Peak strength was achieved within 100h of aging. After aging for 400h, microhardness values presented a slight decrease for both alloys, thus indicating overaging due to the coalescence of precipitates. Microhardness values increased with solute content, due to the precipitation of a higher number density of finer precipitates. After 400h of heat-treating, coalescence was higher for the alloy with lower solute content and, also, the presence of antiphase boundaries – APBs, planar faults associated with the L12to D023structural transition, were observed. Comparing theoretical calculations of the increment in strength due to precipitation strengthening with experimental results, it was observed that their values are in reasonable agreement. The Orowan dislocation looping mechanism takes place during precipitation hardening for both alloys in the peak hardness condition.

AbstractThe increasing need of electrical power for industrial and domestic applications is a challenge that required the development of heat-resistant alloys that are capable of resisting up to temperatures of 240 °C. This paper studies the behaviour of an Al–0.05 wt.%Cu–0.40 wt.%Fe, with addition of (0.15 and 0.22) wt.%, having thermal, electrical, mechanical and structural properties as parameters evaluate its use for overhead transmission lines. A horizontal unidirectional casting chamber was used for the casting process, with six thermocouples positioned, what allows it to capture thermal parameters of the alloy, making it possible to analyse some properties of metal/mould affinity through the use of solidification curves and thermophysical properties, such as growth rate and cooling rate. The solidified samples were machined to 9.5 mm diameter samples and then cold rolled in wires of 4.00, 3.80, 3.00 and 2.70 mm of diameter. These wires had its properties tested by electrical conductivity and tensile tests. It is possible to state that the alloy with the highest Zr content presented a decrease in the size of columnar grains, as well cooling rate and growth rate, also the variation of the electrical conductivity of the alloys were proportional to the solute concentration at the ingot extension.

•The scaffold-based delivery therapy with adipose tissue-derived stem cells in the rat ovarian autografts seems to be the best option when compared to direct injection or systemic route.•Ovarian grafts treated with adipose tissue-derived stem cells showed the highest number of genes over-regulated in the apoptosis pathway, compared to inflammation cytokines and angiogenesis pathway.•Capsase14 was the most over-regulated gene in the apoptosis pathway.•The treatment with adipose tissue-derived stem cells in ovarian grafts treated didn't compromise the ovary graft morphology and viability for short time.

MYC is an oncogene responsible for excessive cell growth in cancer, enabling transcriptional activation of genes involved in cell cycle regulation, metabolism, and apoptosis, and is usually overexpressed in gastric cancer (GC). By using siRNA and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), we identified MYC-regulated differentially expressed Genes (DEGs) in three Brazilian gastric cancer cell lines representing the histological subtypes of GC (diffuse, intestinal, and metastasis). The DEGs were picked using Sailfish software, followed by Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genome (KEGG) pathway analysis using KEGG. We found 11 significantly enriched gene sets by using enrichment score (ES), False Discovery Rate (FDR), and nominal P-values. We identified a total of 5.471 DEGs with correlation over (80%). In diffuse-type and in metastatic GC cell lines, MYC-silencing caused DEGs downregulation, while the intestinal-type GC cells presented overall DEGs upregulation after MYC siRNA depletion. We were able to detect 11 significant gene sets when comparing our samples to the hallmark collection of gene expression, enriched mostly for the following hallmarks: proliferation, pathway, signaling, metabolic, and DNA damage response. When we analyzed our DEGs considering KEGG metabolic pathways, we found 12 common branches covering a wide range of biological functions, and three of them were common to all three cell lines: ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis, ribosomes, and system and epithelial cell signaling in Helicobacter pylori infection. The GC cell lines used in this study share 14 MYC-regulated genes, but their gene expression profile is different for each histological subtype of GC. Our results present a computational analysis of MYC-related signatures in GC, and we present evidence that GC cell lines representing distinct histological subtypes of this disease have different MYC-regulated expression profiles but share a common core of altered genes. This is an important step towards the understanding of MYC’s role in gastric carcinogenesis and an indication of probable new drug targets in stomach cancer.
