International audience; Bond graphs represent a convenient tool for physical system analysis. While it is one part of the job to establish a pertinent bond graph model, it is another important part of the job to take advantage of this bond graph. A simulation tool is involved and the engineer effort varies depending on the sofware entry and computer issues. The paper focuses on the coherence of VHDL-AMS with regards to bond graphs. The objective is twofold. First the authors detail an experience on how to shift from a bond graph representation to a efficient VHDL-AMS code. Two practical examples are presented: a simple Pb-Fe battery and an airbag application. The essential of the language with respect to bond graphs is recalled. Second the authors discuss several advantages and limitations of the language with respect to other available languages and tools when it comes to modeling bond graphs. Then some possible evolutions for the next IEEE 1076.1 VHDL-AMS standard are outlined.

Statistical flood studies allow the determination of structural or land use actions against floods. The aim of these hydrological studies is to estimate flood quantiles, relative to fixed probabilities (10-2 to 10-4). Because of the limited amount of information in a single annual maximum flood series, the extrapolation of the distribution towards large return periods gives very inaccurate estimates. So, a possible improvement concerns the use of the historical information, prior to the development of the conventional gauging network (in France, mainly after the second World War). Many authors presented theoretical analyses which concluded that even if the historical flood errors are greater than the gauging flood errors, the final uncertainty remains smaller when using additional historical information. The aim of this paper is to present a study, made in 1996 and 1997 on the Guiers river in France (near Grenoble). A collaboration between hydrologists and historians allowed to collect historical flood information since 1700, to identify the ten most important floods for three centuries, to propose an inventory-guide which gives a classification of the archives (by documents or key-words), and to make a first statistical analysis of the historical information. A review of statistical methods incorporating historical information into frequency analysis allows the treatment of this kind of historical data., L'analyse fréquentielle des crues permet de donner des éléments quantifiés pour la recherche de solutions visant à réduire les conséquences des inondations. L'estimation de valeurs de crues exceptionnelles (probabilité au dépassement : 10-2 à 10-4) est souvent délicate lorsque l'on travaille à partir des séries locales de maximums annuels. Une alternative consiste à exploiter les informations historiques, postérieures à l'implantation du réseau de mesure hydrométrique. De nombreux auteurs ont montré qu'une reconstitution de débits anciens, même entachée d'erreur, permet d'améliorer l'estimation des probabilités de crue. Cet article présente l'étude menée sur le Guiers, de 1996 à 1997, par une approche interdisciplinaire (hydrologie et histoire). Il a été possible d'identifier les 10 plus forts événements (inondations) sur les trois derniers siècles, de proposer un guide-inventaire des sources d'archives sur les inondations, et de faire un premier traitement des données historiques.

The report treats of floods and wide validity of the QdF models of synthesis of the Arc river with its affluents. This step is closely associated with a significant work preliminary, undertaken by Charon and Lallement on the quality rain-flow information available, to allow the best possible estimate of the decennal peak flood, of the lag time of the catchment, the pluviometric gradex and a more general way of the extreme floods. This hydrological modeling of synthesis is particularly detailed for the Arc of Maurienne itself and three of its affluents chosen for example. In addition, from the comparisons of certain results relating to the approaches GRADEX and QdF are extended to other tributary basins of the Arc of Maurienne. Are associated with this hydrology of synthesis, at least concerning the Arc of Maurienne, the floods observed by EDF-DTG in 1993 and 1994. In a general way, the hydologic study undertaken jointly with EDF-DTG represents a precondition to the study of the phenomena of associated solid transport. It makes it possible to extend, if necessary, the hydrological modeling of synthesis to other basins whose contribution appears essential for the comprehension of the dynamics of floods of the Arc of Maurienne., Le rapport traite essentiellement de l'hydrologie des crues et de la validité étendue des modèles de synthèse QdF de la rivière Arc à ses affluents. Cette démarche est étroitement associée à un important travail préliminaire, mené par Caron et Lallement sur la critique de l'information pluie - débit disponible, pour permettre la meilleure estimation possible des débits de pointes décennaux, des temps de transfert de l'écoulement, des gradex pluviométriques et de manière plus générale des crues extrêmes. Cette modélisation de synthèse de l'hydrologie des crues est particulièrement détaillée pour l'Arc de Maurienne lui-même et trois de ses affluents choisis pour exemple. Par ailleurs, des comparaisons de certains résultats relatifs aux approches GRADEX et QdF sont étendues à d'autres bassins affluents de l'Arc de Maurienne. Sont associées à cette hydrologie de synthèse, tout au moins pour ce qui concerne l'Arc de Maurienne, les fortes crues observées par EDF-DTG en 1993 et 1994. De manière générale, l'étude hydrologique menée conjointement avec EDF-DTG représente un préalable à l'étude des phénomènes de transports solides associés. Elle permet d'étendre, si nécessaire, la modélisation hydrologique de synthèse à d'autres bassins versants dont la contribution en apports se révèle essentielle pour la compréhension de la dynamique des crue de l'Arc de Maurienne.

La collaboration entre historiens, archivistes et hydrologues permet de valoriser l'information historique sur les inondations, et ainsi de mieux estimer le risque d'inondation. Cette démarche « Historisque » a été initiée en 1996 sur le bassin du Guiers, qui présente l'intérêt d'être bien documenté sur la période du XVIII ème au XIXème siècle. Cette rivière constituait en effet l'ancienne frontière entre la France et la Savoie, et a fait l'objet au XVIIIème et XIXeme siècle de nombreux rapports pour fixer les limites entre les deux territoires. Il a été possible, à partir du dépouillement de plus de 200 actes d'archives, de dresser une chronologie qualitative des crues depuis la seconde moitié du XVIIIeme siècle, de proposer un guide-inventaire des sources d'archives sur les inondations, et d'illustrer la méthodologie Historisque au travers de la reconstitution du débit de la crue de juin 1875 du Guiers à Pont-de-Beauvoisin. / Collaboration between historians, archivists and hydrologists can provide a significant improvement in the field of flood hazard studies, by using historical information about floods. This Historisk methodology was first applied in 1996 on river Guiers, which has a good historical information during the 18th and 19th centuries. This river was the old borderline between France and Savoy, and so many reports are available and concern the boundaries of the two areas. The analysis of more than two hundred archives allows the qualitative collection of the most important floods since the second part of the 18th century, and the establishment of a guide, which presents the different archive sources about floods. An example of the Historisk methodology is carried out by estimating the discharge of the 1875 flood on river Guiers at Pont-de-Beauvoisin.

The aim of this document is to demonstrate that the use of historical flood information can provide a significant improvement in the field of flood hazard studies. This methodology was applied by a collaboration between historians and hydrologists, on the river Guiers. Several results are presented: an exhaustive inventory of the historical data, a guide which presents the several archives sources, a bibliography of the frequential methods which use historical information, an hydraulic study which gives the correspondance between flood level and discharge, and three examples of the application of the Historisk methodology., Ce rapport, réalisé sur la période 1996-97, s'attache à valoriser l'information historique pour une meilleure connaissance du risque inondation. Une équipe associant historiens, hydrologues et hydrauliciens a appliqué cette démarche sur un bassin test : le Guiers. Les principaux résultats peuvent être avancés : un inventaire pratiquement exhaustif des sources de documents, la réalisation d'un guide-inventaire des sources d'archives, et une exploitation des données historiques pour une meilleure prédétermination du risque. Sur ce dernier point, le document présente une analyse bibliographique des méthodes fréquentielles exploitant l'information historique, une modélisation hydraulique réalisée sur deux troncons permettant de relier niveau d'eau et débit de crue, et trois exemples d'application de la méthodologie Historisque.

The HISTORISQUE project deals with the use of historical information in the field of flood hazard studies. River Guiers is studied by a team of technicians who are in charge on the following activities : history, hydrology and hydraulics.After one year, the results of the studies are the following : an almost exhaustive inventory of the archive sources, the use of half of this historical information, a first sample of historical floods during the two last centuries, a land survey on two specific areas, a methodological analysis on the different archive sources and an inventory of all methods which make use of historical information for flood frequency analysis., Le projet HISTORISQUE s'attache à valoriser l'information historique pour une meilleure connaissance du risque d'inondation. Soutenue par le Pôle Grenoblois de Prévention des Risques Naturels, une équipe associant un historien, un hydrologue et un hydraulicien a appliqué cette démarche sur le bassin test du Guiers. Au terme d'une année d'étude, les principaux résultats obtenus sont les suivants : un inventaire pratiquement exhaustif des sources d'archives, un dépouillement à 50% de ces fonds, une première chronologie de crues depuis la fin du XVIIIème siècle, la réalisation de levés topographiques sur deux secteurs d'étude, des réflexions méthodologiques sur les différents types d'archives et une analyse bibliographique sur les méthodes de prédétermination des crues extrêmes utilisant l'information historique.
