Abstract

The instability and unbalance response of dissymmetric rotor-bearing systems containing periodic coefficients when modeling produces matrices with a large number of degrees of freedom are discussed. It is important to solve the equations and then predict the dynamic behavior of the system. This can be done knowing the instability areas and the unbalance response in the stable areas. One deals here with a large number of equations and a reduction of the number of degrees of freedom of the system is achieved through a pseudo modal method. This method is shown to give satisfactory results.

23. p-Type conducting transparent characteristics of delafossite Mg-doped CuCrO2 thin films prepared by RF-sputtering.

Abstract

The growth of technologically relevant compounds, Mg-doped CuCrO2 delafossite thin films, on a quartz substrate by radio-frequency sputtering is reported in this work. The deposition, performed at room temperature, leads to a nanocrystalline phase with extremely low roughness and high density. Delafossite characteristic diffraction peaks were obtained as a function of the thermal treatment under primary vacuum. The electrical conductivity was optimized until 1.6 S cm−1 with an optical transmittance of 63% in the visible range by a 600 °C annealing treatment under primary vacuum applied for 4 h. The transport properties were analyzed by Seebeck and Hall measurement, integrated spectrophotometry and optical simulation. These measurements highlighted degenerated semiconductor behavior using a hopping mechanism with a high hole concentration (1021 cm−3) and a low mobility (0.2 cm2 V−1 s−1). The direct optical bandgap of 3.3 eV has been measured according to Tauc's relationship. A refractive index of 2.3 at a wavelength of 1100 nm has been determined by spectroscopic ellipsometry and confirmed by two independent modellings of the optical transmittance and reflectance spectra. All these p-type TCO optoelectronic characteristics have led to the highest Haacke's figure of merit (1.5 × 10−7Ω−1) reported so far for such delafossite materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

36. Instability and Unbalance Response of Dissymmetric Rotor-Bearing Systems

Abstract

The study deals with the instability and unbalance response of dissymmetric rotors, when periodic differential equations are impossible to avoid. The method which yields motion instability is based on an extension of the well-known Floquet theory. A transfer matrix over one period of the motion is obtained, and the stability of the system can be tested with the eigenvalues of the matrix. To find the instability and the unbalance response, the Newmark formulation is used. Here, the dissymmetry comes either from the rotor or from the bearings in such a way that it is possible to solve a regular differential system without periodic coefficients, either in the stationary coordinate system or in the rotating one. Three examples are given, including an industrial application. The results show that the method proposed is satisfactory.

39. Vibration Analysis of Rotating Compressor Blades

Abstract

Calculation of the total potential energy of a system is performed in the case of thin rotating plates. The structure is divided into plane triangular elements with three nodes and eighteen degrees of freedom. The mass and stiffness matrices in which the rotation effects have been introduced are derived using area coordinates. First, the initial stresses due to the rotation are calculated; next, frequencies and modes are determined by a simultaneous iterative technique. The method is then applied to an existing compressor blade. The correlation with experimental results is good for the first ten frequencies and the first five modes. A calculation process for machine designers based on the methods introduced by Petricone-Sisto and Rawtani-Dokainish and the finite element method is then presented.

Abstract

Prelabeled adenine nucleotides were rapidly degraded in freshly isolated rat liver cells incubated with glycerol at concentrations greater than 0.25 mM. Concomitantly, the [14C]ATP/[14C]ADP and [14C]ATP/[14C]AMP ratios were decreased. There was a transient increase in radioactive IMP, inosine, and hypoxanthine and a constant accumulation of allantoin. Radioactive adenosine also accumulated transiently under certain conditions. The intracellular Pi; concentration was decreased. The magnitude of most of these changes was dependent upon the concentration of glycerol. The effects of glycerol were similar to those of fructose. The extent of endogenous adenine nucleotide catabolism was smaller at high Pi concentration, whereas the extent of glycerol-induced catabolism was unaffected. However, less inosine and more hypoxanthine accumulated during glycerol-induced catabolism at high Pi concentration.
