Introduction: Basic Health Research in 2018 stated Jember as a district with the third highest incidence of undernutrition in East Java. Undernutrition is a threat to future generations because it has short-term and long-term impacts that can be irreversible. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with undernutrition among children under five in Karangrejo Village, Jember Regency. Methods: This research used a cross-sectional method involving 94 mothers and children under five years old registered at Posyandu in Karangrejo Village who were selected by purposive sampling. The dependent variable included the sociodemographic factors of mothers and children and was obtained using a demographic questionnaire. The dependent variable, undernutrition, was determined based on weight-for-age and was obtained by plotting the child’s weight on the WHO weight-for-age curve: 0-5 years (z score) according to the child’s sex. Statistical tests used ordinal logistic regression tests. Results: There are some factors contributing to undernutrition, including the father’s education in elementary school (p=0.002, OR=5.628), the number of children no more than two persons (p=0.038, OR=-2.546), a complete history of immunization (p=0.011, OR=-4.627), history of infection of ARI every month and every two months (p =0.001, OR= -3.897, -7.250) respectively, and the level of mother’s knowledge about fulfilling children nutrition (p=0.000, OR= 5.593). Conclusions: This study suggests that raising parent education, complete immunization, and mothers’ knowledge are recommended to prevent undernutrition among children. Furthermore, the outcome of this study re-emphasizes that educational activities regarding children’s nutritional needs are still needed to improve mothers’ knowledge. One of the health problems faced by women is breast cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide and the second cancer that causes death. Breast cancer is the most common in women, namely 42.1 per 100,000 population. Breast cancer can be detected early by breast self-examination or BSE, but many women forget the method and order of practice. Using posters can provide reminders and ways for women to continue doing BSE. This type of research is a quasi-experimental quantitative research. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design. The results show differences in knowledge, attitudes and practices each and between groups. Knowledge attitudes and practices have improved overall since the intervention. At the end of the measurement, all groups had good BSE knowledge and attitudes. Behavior with good category before treatment 18% to 39%. In conclusion there are differences in knowledge, attitudes and practices respectively and between groups. Poster media is an effective medium for increasing knowledge and practice. Posted poster media is effective in increasing BSE attitude.

Background: Thalassemia major is a chronic disease in children that harms children quality of life by interrupting physical function, emotional function, social function, and school function. Objectives: This study aims to identify factors contributed to quality of life among children with thalassemia major. Design: The research design used systematic review based on the PRISMA guideline. Data Sources: The source of the articles used three databases including Pubmed, Science Direct, and NCBI with keywords: “quality of life” AND “children” AND “thalassemia major”. The articles were searched from July to September 2021. Review Methods: The data in this study were obtained by reviewing articles from previous studies using PRISMA checklist and PICOS. To assess the quality of article, JBI Critical Appraisal Tools was also used as a guideline. Results: There were 6 articles reviewed according to the inclusion criteria. All the studies showed that the score of quality of life among children with thalassemia major was lower than that of healthy children. The school function among children with thalassemia major was known to have the lowest score from this review. Factors contributed to quality of life among children with thalassemia major according to this review were chelation therapy, pretransfusion hemoglobin, age during the first transfusion, frequency of transfusion, child’s age, family income, parents’ education, hepatomegaly, body mass index, and serum ferritin levels. Conclusion: This review notifies the necessity of developing strategies in improving the quality of life of children with thalassemia major that involves parents, health services, schools, and the government.

Background: Smartphone addiction leads to physical, psychological, and social consequences for users, particularly for adolescent users, as psychological development is still in the process of maturation. Individual and family characteristics are shown to contribute to shaping adolescent’s behavior related to smartphone usage. Specifically, perceived parenting style and self-regulation have been reported as significant factors influencing smartphone addiction among adolescents. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship among parenting style, self-regulation, and smartphone addiction proneness in Indonesian junior high school students. Method: This study used a cross-sectional, descriptive study design. Data collection took place in five public junior high schools in Jember from the 7th of January to the 8th of February, 2019. The total sample of this study was 158, purposively asked to fill out three questionnaires: Parental Authority Questionnaire, Self-Regulation Questionnaire, and Smartphone Addiction Proneness Scale. Chi-square test and Pearson’s correlation coefficients were used to test the relationship between two variables. Result: The differences in smartphone addiction proneness between the risk group and non-risk group were significant depending on gender (p=0.004), daily smartphone usage time (p=0.025), and purpose of smartphone usage (p=0.001). A significant negative correlation was found between self-regulation and smartphone addiction proneness (r= -0.448, p=0.001). Conclusion: The current study found that 11.4% of junior high school students in Jember-Indonesia were categorized into risk groups for smartphone addiction. Gender, daily smartphone usage time, and purpose of smartphone usage showed significant differences between the risk group and the non-risk group. However, there was no difference in the parenting style of the mother between the two groups. Self-regulation showed a significant association with smartphone addiction.
