Das Konzept Entrepreneurial Orientation ist eines der grundlegenden Konzepte von Entrpreneurship. Die meisten Experten:innen sind zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass Entrepreneurial Orientation aus drei Dimensionen besteht, nämlich Innovativeness, Proactiveness und Risk-taking und dass es eine positive Korrelation mit der Unternehmensperformance gibt. Durch das Ausbrechen von COVID-19 Ende 2019 wurde die ganze Welt in die größte Finanzkrise seit der Großen Depression in den 1930er Jahren gestürzt. KMU sind das Rückgrat der europäischen, österreichischen und steirischen Wirtschaft und daher zielte diese Bachelorarbeit darauf ab, herauszufinden, ob Entrepreneurial Orientation von KMU in der Steiermark die Unternehmensperformance, während COVID-19 beeinflusste. Die Ergebnisse dieser quantitativen Studie zeigen, dass es keine signifikanten Korrelationen zwischen den Dimensionen Innovativität, Proaktivität und Risikobereitschaft und der Unternehmensperformance von KMU in der Steiermark, während COVID-19 gab. Allerdings ist ein signifikanter positiver Zusammenhang zwischen der Risikobereitschaft und dem Unternehmenserfolg messbar, wenn als Kontrollvariable die wahrgenommenen Schwankungen des Marktes herangezogen werden. Es ist nicht allzu überraschend, dass der Einfluss von Entrepreneurial Orientation nicht so stark ist, wie erwartet. Die endgültigen Ergebnisse könnten durch den Charakter der Wirtschaftskrise erklärt werden. Es ist wichtig festzustellen, dass unter regulären Marktbedingungen unternehmerisches Verhalten positive Auswirkungen auf die Geschäftstätigkeit von KMU hat. The concept of Entrepreneurial Orientation is one of the fundamental concepts in entrepreneurship. The majority of scholars have come to the conclusion that Entrepreneurial Orientation consists of three dimensions, namely innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking and that it has a positive correlation with the business performance of small and medium sized enterprises (SME). Due to the emergence of COVID-19 in late 2019, the whole world was pushed into the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression in the 1930s. SMEs are the backbone of the European, Austrian, and Styrian economy and therefore the research questions of this bachelor thesis aimed at finding out if Entrepreneurial Orientation of SMEs in Styria influenced the business performance during COVID- 19. The results of this quantitive study show, that there were no significant correlations between the dimensions innovativeness, proactiveness and risk- taking and the business performance of SMEs in Styria during COVID-19. However, a significant positive correlation between risk taking and the business performance of SMEs in Styria during the COVID-19 pandemic is measurable, when controlled for the perceived market turbulences. It is not too surprising that the influence Entrepreneurial Orientation is not so strong, because the final results could be explained by the character of the economic crisis.It is important to note, that under regular market conditions entrepreneurial behavior does have positive implications for the business activities of SMEs. submitted by Paul Lafer Bachelorarbeit FH JOANNEUM 2022
