Wireless sensor network (WSN) is widely used in a variety of practical applications. WSN may be used to sense objects, gather information, analyze it, and then transmit it again. The significance of optimization techniques is crucial for the accurate and reliable estimation of the sensor nodes' location. The positioning accuracy of traditional distance vector hop (DV-Hop) localization algorithm is not entirely satisfactory instead of it is quite simple, stabilized, feasible, and requires less hardware. Thus to enhance the positioning accuracy without increasing the hardware cost of a sensor node, this article provides an improved distance vector hop (IDV-Hop) localization algorithm using human conception optimization. The proposed method adds a parameter to alter the anchor nodes' hop size. Furthermore, it is analyzed with traditional DV-Hop, IDV-Hop algorithm, DV-Hop based particle swarm optimization, and DV-Hop based class topper optimization. The simulation results support the conclusion that, the proposed algorithm performs better than the competing algorithms by minimizing the localization error, localization error variance, and the localization accuracy with varying the number of anchor nodes, total number of nodes, and the communication range. - Abstract
Numerous sensor network applications require accurate and rapid localization of randomly deployed sensor nodes. For wireless sensor network (WSN) localization, optimization methods can provide specific and reliable position estimates of a sensor node. The fixed density of beacons may be increase or decrease owing to various reasons, such as upkeep, lifespan, and breakdown. Because of its robustness, flexibility, and economic viability, the distance vector-hop (DV-Hop) algorithm is used to locate WSN nodes. Because of its high precision and fast computing speed, class topper optimization (CTO) is suitable to solve localization problems. This study proposes an orthogonal learning CTO-based DV-Hop localization algorithm for three-dimensional WSNs. Moreover, this study used a refined formula to calculate the minimum hop size of beacon nodes for reducing localization errors (LEs) in the approximated distance between the beacon and dumb nodes. Results revealed that our proposed method outperformed some existing algorithms in terms of reducing LEs (0.6%) and localization error variance (0.3%) and enhancing localization accuracy (0.4%) and coverage (0.7%). One of the most important challenges in wireless sensor networks is the issue of localization. Furthermore, it is critical to monitor and evaluate the data gathered. With the aid of a collection of constructed nodes known as beacons, the localization technique can measure node location. For a variety of factors, such as upkeep, lifespan, and breakdown, the fixed density of these beacons may be increased or decreased. Because of its robustness, flexibility, and economic viability, a well-known technique for locating wireless sensor network nodes is the distance vector-hop (DV-Hop) algorithm. As a result, researchers continue to look for ways to develop it. Based on a proposed selective opposition class topper optimization (SOCTO), an enhanced DV-Hop localization algorithm is developed. It also focuses on an optimised formulation to compute the average hop-size with weight of beacon nodes in order to reduce the localization error within the estimated distance between the beacon and the dumb node, due to improved localization accuracy. The range-free localization algorithm in uniform multi-hop wireless sensor networks is the subject of a recent study. The results show that our proposed method outperforms the DV-Hop technique and related techniques in terms of average localization error ( 0.05 % ) versus random beacon node deployment, average localization error ( 0.04 % ) versus circular beacon node deployment, and average localization error ( 0.08 % ) versus spiral beacon node deployment. High-speed on/off solenoid valves (HSVs) are digital vales commonly used in hydraulic power systems. These valves are usually used in pressure and flow control which requires high dynamic and energy performance to improve the control accuracy. This paper aims to propose a new control method used to improve the dynamic and energy performance of HSVs. The proposed method is based on the pulse width modulation (PWM) technique implemented by LabVIEW software and NI myRIO. Based on that, NI myRIO has a real-time module; no feedback is needed. A mathematical model of the HSV is introduced, describing each subsystem of the vale and its interactions with each other. The proposed method is validated under different operating conditions. The results show that applying the proposed control method on the HSV will reduce the valve spool closing time by 72% and reduce energy consumption by 94% compared to the traditional on/off control method.

WIRELESS sensor networks , *LOCALIZATION (Mathematics) , *WIRELESS localization - Abstract
The process of locating nodes is really a key problem in the field of wireless sensor networks (WSN), and WSN localization is commonly followed by the distance vector hop (DV-Hop) algorithm. DV-Hop-based algorithms are currently in use by all beacon nodes to locate the dumb node. On the other hand, the approximate distance from the dumb node to certain beacon nodes is a large error, resulting in a large finished dumb node localization problem. To keep improving localization, we designed an efficient DV-Hop method on the dynamic beacon node set (DBNS). DBNS IDV-Hop uses part of the beacon nodes to engage in localization, unlike current DV-Hop-based techniques, which use all beacon nodes. To begin with, the selection of beacon nodes is reduced to an optimization problem. Subsequently, to create the DBNS, the binary fractional order class topper optimization (BFCTO) algorithm is applied and the localization is carried out on the DBNS. Lastly, to further optimise the dumb node coordinates, the fractional order class topper optimization (FCTO) algorithm is used. According to the outcomes, our proposed algorithms require about ( 0.3 % ), ( 0.99 % ), and ( 11.14 % ) less localization error than the algorithms Improved DV-HOP, Enhancement DV-HOP, and DV-Hop (Basic), respectively. Wireless Senser Network (WSN) is broadly employed in many real life applications. WSN can be applied for sensing, collecting, processing and transmission of information. The importance of optimization methods plays a key role in the consistent and realistic estimation of the position of the sensor node. This article presents for improved DV-Hop localization using Class Topper Optimization (CTO) to address the current drawback of conventional DV-Hop. In the proposed algorithm, a factor to modify the hop size of the beacon nodes is presented. It is concluded from experimental assessment that the proposed optimized algorithm plays better than alternative algorithms with similar characteristics under the influence of variable number of nodes, beacon nodes and range. The proposed algorithm is compared with conventional DV-Hop, IDV-Hop algorithm and DV-Hop-based particle swarm optimization. Simulation results show that the localization error, error variance and accuracy are minimized by the proposed localization algorithm relative to current localization techniques. Abstract Background Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown wide clinical applications for treating various disorders of central nervous system. High frequency stimulation (HFS) of pulses with a constant intensity and a constant frequency is typically used in DBS. However, new stimulation paradigms with time-varying parameters provide a prospective direction for DBS developments. To meet the research demands for time-varying stimulations, we designed a new stimulation system with a technique of LabVIEW-based virtual instrument. Methods The system included a LabVIEW program, a NI data acquisition card, and an analog stimulus isolator. The output waveforms of the system were measured to verify the time-varying parameters. Preliminary animal experiments were run by delivering the HFS sequences with time-varying parameters to the hippocampal CA1 region of anesthetized rats. Results Verification results showed that the stimulation system was able to generate pulse sequences with ramped intensity and hyperbolic frequency accurately. Application of the time-varying HFS sequences to the axons of pyramidal cells in the hippocampal CA1 region resulted in neuronal responses different from those induced by HFS with constant parameters. The results indicated important modulations of time-varying stimulations to the neuronal activity that could prevent the stimulation from inducing over-synchronized firing of population neurons. Conclusions The stimulation system provides a useful technique for investigating diverse stimulation paradigms for the development of new DBS treatments.

Software supported procedure for generation of long-time complex test sentences, suitable for testing the instruments for detection of standard voltage quality (VQ) disturbances is presented in this paper. This solution for test signal generation includes significant improvements of computer-based signal generator presented and described in the previously published paper [1]. The generator is based on virtual instrumentation software for defining the basic signal parameters, data acquisition card NI 6343, and power amplifier for amplification of output voltage level to the nominal RMS voltage value of 230 V. Definition of basic signal parameters in LabVIEW application software is supported using Script files, which allows simple repetition of specific test signals and combination of more different test sequences in the complex composite test waveform. The basic advantage of this generator compared to the similar solutions for signal generation is the possibility for long-time test sequence generation according to predefined complex test scenarios, including various combinations of VQ disturbances defined in accordance with the European standard EN50160. Experimental verification of the presented signal generator capability is performed by testing the commercial power quality analyzer Fluke 435 Series II. In this paper are shown some characteristic complex test signals with various disturbances and logged data obtained from the tested power quality analyzer.

Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The article uses LabView to develop a fault diagnosis system for wind power planetary transmissions. First, use LabView software to create a signal acquisition system. Then, the built wind turbine planetary transmission experiment platform was combined with the NI9171 data acquisition card and the upper computer. The hysteresis brake was used in the laboratory to simulate the external wind environment, and the planetary gear transmission planetary gear crack fault diagnosis and testing experiments were performed. The frequency domain signal is obtained from the initial time domain signal obtained by the experiment through the EMD and envelope demodulation method. The frequency of the corresponding planetary gear crack in the frequency domain signal is compared with the theoretical calculation of the planetary gear crack failure frequency. The results show that the frequency of the corresponding planetary gear cracks in the frequency domain spectra obtained by the experiment is basically consistent with the theoretical calculation of the frequency of cracks in planetary gears. The fault diagnosis system developed by LabView is reliable. The experiment provides a theoretical basis for fault diagnosis, optimisation design, and life prediction of wind turbine planetary transmissions.

Highlights • An accurate procedure modeling is presented to simulate the PV module output. • The ageing of the PV module were evaluated using two methods. • The ageing effects achieved in Mediterranean climate is presented. • Simulated I-V and P-V curves have a good agreement with the experimental results. Abstract In this paper, an accurate modeling procedure of a photovoltaic (PV) cell or module is proposed. The simulation behavior of the solar module is presented under different operation conditions, considering the effect of mismatch conditions due to the shadow patterns. The model is flexible in accurately predicting the current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) curves and maximum power point under partial shading of different solar module types. In this paper, a single STP080S PV module was experimentally tested for more than eight years of exposure on the roof of the University of Constantine (Mediterranean climate). For the first time, the evaluation of ageing due to the failure of the PV module in the Mediterranean climate was tested using visual inspection and I-V output. These two inspections show a decrease in the conversion efficiency of the STP080S PV module over time. Finally, the experimental and simulated I-V and P-V curves of the STP080S PV module are compared and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
MEMS based wireless sensor network (WSN) for real‐time human health monitoring is promising in home‐based rehabilitation. It requires effective integration of a number of MEMS sensors and their placement on the human body to create a wireless body area network for continuous and timely monitoring of various biophysical parameters. This study attempts to develop an XBee‐based WSN for real‐time monitoring of human gait. Traditionally, the optical motion systems were used for gait analysis but they suffer from certain limitations such as the development of the complex algorithm and constrains in the work space. In comparison to the optical system, the attractive benefits of MEMS‐based sensor systems are small size and low cost. Magnetic field angular rate and gravity sensor system can perform a complete analysis of the human gait. The sensor modules were developed using the inertial sensors mainly accelerometer and gyro sensor. LabVIEW software is used for data acquisition from the body sensor nodes and gait analysis. Biometrics Lab System is used as the standard system for calibration of data obtained from sensors. The joint angle range of motion was calculated using both the systems. The advantage of the proposed system is that it facilitates wireless transmission of gait parameters (joint angle measurement) for easy monitoring of human gait in various rehabilitation programmes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TARGET. The purpose of this work is to develop a non-contact laser control and measuring complex (LCMC) for vibration control of the level of pressing of windings and magnetic circuit of a power transformer. A laser vibrometer is used as a measuring element, the developed software in the LabVIEW graphical programming environment serves as a tool for processing vibration signals. The technical condition of the power transformer is analyzed by the amplitude spectra of the vibration of the tank of the transformer under study, formed using the fast Fourier transform algorithm in the LabVIEW software.METHODS. The vibration control method makes it possible to control a power transformer during its operation under voltage, which makes it possible to move from a planned system of transformer repairs to a system for taking out for repair according to the current technical condition.RESULTS. The developed LCMC allows to carry out non-contact measurements of vibration parameters of a power transformer under voltage and to establish the current level of pressing of windings and magnetic circuit.CONCLUSION. The developed LCMC with software allows contactless control of the technical condition of the magnetic circuit and the windings of the power transformer according to the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the vibration parameters, as well as the use of statistical methods for processing and analyzing signals received from the transformer.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has shown wide applications for treating various disorders in the central nervous system by using high frequency stimulation (HFS) sequences of electrical pulses. However, upon the onset of HFS sequences, the narrow pulses could induce synchronous firing of action potentials among large populations of neurons and cause a transient phase of “onset response” that is different from the subsequent steady state. To investigate the transient onset phase, the antidromically-evoked population spikes (APS) were used as an electrophysiological marker to evaluate the synchronous neuronal reactions to axonal HFS in the hippocampal CA1 region of anesthetized rats. New stimulation paradigms with time-varying intensity and frequency were developed to suppress the “onset responses”. Results show that HFS paradigms with ramp-up intensity at the onset phase could suppress large APS potentials. In addition, an intensity ramp with a slower ramp-up rate or with a higher pulse frequency had greater suppression on APS amplitudes. Therefore, to reach a desired pulse intensity rapidly, a stimulation paradigm combining elevated frequency and ramp-up intensity was used to shorten the transition phase of initial HFS without evoking large APS potentials. The results of the study provide important clues for certain transient side effects of DBS and for development of new adaptive stimulation paradigms.

- Abstract
In this work, the authors present a new algorithm for detecting faults in grid‐connected photovoltaic (GCPV) plant. There are few instances of statistical tools being deployed in the analysis of photovoltaic (PV) measured data. The main focus of this study is, therefore, to outline a PV fault detection algorithm that can diagnose faults on the DC side of the examined GCPV system based on the t‐test statistical analysis method. For a given set of operational conditions, solar irradiance and module temperature, a number of attributes such as voltage and power ratio of the PV strings are measured using virtual instrumentation (VI) LabVIEW software. The results obtained indicate that the fault detection algorithm can detect accurately different types of faults such as, faulty PV module, faulty PV String, faulty Bypass diode and faulty maximum power point tracking unit. The proposed PV fault detection algorithm has been validated using 1.98 kWp PV plant installed at the University of Huddersfield, UK. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights • Simulation and control implementation on a FPGA of fractional chaotic systems were studied. • Sliding mode control strategy was considered. • Atangana–Baleanu–Caputo fractional variable-order derivative is applied. • Dadras, Aizawa, Thomas and 4 Wings attractors were studied. • The variable-order fractional differential equations and the control law were solved using the variable-order Adams algorithm. Abstract This paper presents the simulation and control implementation on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) for a class of variable-order fractional chaotic systems by using sliding mode control strategy. Four different fractional variable-order chaotic systems via Atangana–Baleanu–Caputo fractional-order derivative were considered; Dadras, Aizawa, Thomas and 4 Wings attractors. A methodology has been developed to construct variable-order fractional chaotic systems using LabVIEW® software for its implementation in the National Instruments myRio-1900 (Xilinx FPGA Z-7010)® device. The variable-order fractional differential equations and the control law were solved using the variable-order Adams algorithm. Finally, simulation results show that FPGA provides high-speed realizations with the desired accuracy and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed sliding mode control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
