1. Using Soil Magnetic Susceptibility Proxies to Estimate Overburden Thickness Overlying Ore of Lateritic Soils in Sulawesi Island Indonesia

Abstract: Sulawesi Island is one of the largest Ni ore producers in Indonesia. It is also expected to be a significant potential source of some critical metals (e.g., Co, Sc, rare-earth elements, and platinum-group elements). However, few studies show the post-mining impact on some heavy metal elements concentrated in this area. Therefore, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of soil organization and its effect on soil reclamation after mining is helpful. This study aimed to determine the accuracy in estimating the thickness of the overburden covering the nickel ore body profile from lateritic nickel post-mining areas by magnetic susceptibility measurements to discrepancy the overall laterite horizon, whereas χLF and χFD are used to distinguish the overburden zona and limonite and saprolite zone. The lateritic profile studied consists of soil formation of Fe-rich material in the Morowali, and Pomalaa block. We also evaluated the chemical element content of the soil and understood the relationship between the magnetic and geochemical properties of the soil. This study reveals the superparamagnetic (SP)-enriched soils indicated with the increase of the FD% values into the upward horizon, where the maximum values of FD are generally found at ranges 1 to 4m, indicating the overburden layers. Meanwhile, in the depth of 4m to 6m, the values of FD vary only slightly in the lower part initiated by the limonite layers, and then > 6m decreases sharply to the bottom, indicating the saprolite layers. The chemical element mobility trends indicate that Fe, Co, Cr, Mn, and Ti increase toward the layers, which is the same pattern as in FD. Due to this, parameters magnetics may also be a new geophysical approach for estimating the distribution of economically valued minerals on lateritic soils. The strong correlation of Co with Fe, Mn, and Cr in all layers indicates the influence of weathering o n these ultramafic rocks. This suggests an increasing trend toward prolonged pedogenesis.

2. RELAÇÃO DO ÍNDICE DE MASSA CORPORAL COM O PROGNÓSTICO DE PACIENTES COM LEUCEMIA MIELOIDE CRÔNICA EM TRATAMENTO COM INIBIDORES DE TIROSINA QUINASE

Abstract: Objetivos: Avaliar a relação do Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) com o prognóstico de pacientes com leucemia mieloide crônica (LMC) em tratamento com inibidores de tirosina quinase (ITQ). Materiais e métodos: Estudo retrospectivo, observacional. Foram avaliados pacientes de um único centro, maiores de 18 anos com diagnóstico de LMC em FC entre 2015 e 2022 tratados com imatinibe em primeira linha. Realizado levantamento de dados obtidos de registro e prontuários médicos. Resultados: Foram avaliados 135 pacientes com mediana de idade ao diagnóstico de 53 anos (17-83), 50,4% mulheres. 60,7%, Sokal baixo risco, 33,3% intermediário, 25,9% alto risco, 17% não avaliável. A mediana do IMC foi 26,1 (17-43).Os dados nutricionais mostram que 34,8% dos pacientes têm peso normal (IMC 18,5-24,9), 34,8% apresentam sobrepeso (IMC 25,0-29,9), 13,3% têm obesidade Grau 1 (IMC 30,0-34,9) e 3,0% têm obesidade Grau 2 (IMC > 35,0). ²ASG da população total de aos 60 e 89 meses foi 83% e 70%, respectivamente e de acordo com IMC foi de 97%, 87% e 86% nos pacientes com peso normal, sobrepeso e obesos respectivamente (P = 0.72). A sobrevida livre de progressão foi 96%, 89%, 81% nos pacientes com peso normal, sobrepeso e obesos respectivamente (P = 0.44). Não houve correlação entre IMC, sexo e Sokal. Na situação atual dos pacientes em seguimento, 76 alcançaram resposta molecular maior ou mais profunda. Houve 21 óbitos, (15%), 15 não relacionados à LMC; 11 casos perderam seguimento. Discussão: Segundo dados da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde (PNS) do IBGE de 2019, cerca de 60,3% da população brasileira adulta apresentava excesso de peso (IMC > 25) e 25,9% obesos (IMC > 30). Além disso, o número de pessoas com obesidade grave (IMC > 35) tem aumentado, atingindo 4,07% da população em 2022. Em comparação, os dados do presente estudo indicam que 34,8% dos pacientes com LMC estão com sobrepeso ao diagnóstico (IMC 25,0-29,9), e 16,3% estão obesos (IMC > 30), considerando a obesidade Grau 1 e Grau 2. O perfil nutricional entre pacientes com LMC corrobora a tendência observada na população geral brasileira, mas com uma prevalência maior de sobrepeso. Do total de óbitos, 71,4% não foi relacionado diretamente à LMC, o que sugere a presença de comorbidades ou outras complicações clínicas que diminuem a sobrevida. Conclusão: Não houve diferença significativa nas SG e SLP de acordo com a estratificação pelo IMC, mas os pacientes com sobrepeso e obesidade tiveram uma menor taxa de sobrevida. Considerando que atualmente a maior sobrevida dos pacientes com LMC e que a maioria dos óbitos não são relacionados à doença, o controle da síndrome metabólica e das comorbidades é fundamental nos pacientes de LMC, principalmente nos casos em uso de nilotinibe e ponatinibe, que apresentam maior risco de eventos cardiovasculares e arteriais.

3. Analysis sustainability status of laeya river management for raw water supply in South Konawe Regency Southeast Sulawesi Province

Abstract: South Konawe Regency experienced a decrease in water supply and an increase in water demand, due the changes in land use caused by ongoing land exploitation, which increases runoff and decreases infiltration capacity. As a result, more water is lost to the ocean, threatening the water supply from Laeya River. Laeya River raw water is not only utilized for PDAM raw water sources, but also used to meet the domestic needs of the community, agricultural irrigation and plantations, so it is important to know the its sustainability status. This research aims to carrying out activities that control the water quality of the Laeya River, as well as to serve an information regarding the status model for the sustainability of raw water management, and to raise environmental awareness. This study was carried out in the Laeya River, South Konawe Regency. Sampling was conducted at three stations representing the upstream area of the Laeya River, the middle area and the downstream area. The Multi Dimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis method was used to conduct an analysis of the status of sustainable natural resource management for sustainable raw water supply. Based on the results can be concluded that Analysis of the 41 attributes derived from five dimensions resulted in 12 attributes acting as leverage factors in each dimension partially. To improve the sustainability status of raw water management in the research area, it is necessary to intervene the 12 attributes, namely 11 attributes that need to increase the intensity of their activities, and one attribute needs to be controlled and planned for its development properly. The results of the assessment of 41 attributes from five dimensionsin the management of the Laeya River for raw water supply in South Konawe Regency, currently is at less Sustainability status(Sustainability Index value of 36.63). Abstract: Pembelajaran biologi sarat dengan kegiatan praktikum. Namun, hal ini sulit bagi sekolah-sekolah di daerah kecil yang belum memiliki laboratorium dengan peralatan yang memadai dan dapat menunjang pembelajaran biologi. SMA Negeri 3 Lasalimu belum lama beralih status dari swasta menjadi sekolah negeri tepatnya pada tahun 2022, sehingga belum memiliki fasilitas laboratorium yang memadai guna menunjang pelaksanaan pembelajaran biologi terutama yang membutuhkan praktikum. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memperkenalkan mikroskop dan cara penggunaannya pada peserta didik kelas X SMA Negeri 3 Lasalimu. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di Laboratorium IPA SMA Negeri 3 Lasalimu. Kegiatan ini terdiri atas beberapa tahapan, yaitu: tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Kegiatan ini terbukti mampu mengembangkan aspek afektif, kognitif, dan psikomotor peserta didik. Selain itu kegiatan ini juga mendapatkan respon positif, baik dari guru maupun peserta didik.

Abstract: Background Pre-existing cardiovascular disease (CVD) or cardiovascular risk factors have been associated with an increased risk of complications following hospitalisation with COVID-19, but their impact on the rate of recovery following discharge is not known.Objectives To determine whether the rate of patient-perceived recovery following hospitalisation with COVID-19 was affected by the presence of CVD or cardiovascular risk factors.Methods In a multicentre prospective cohort study, patients were recruited following discharge from the hospital with COVID-19 undertaking two comprehensive assessments at 5 months and 12 months. Patients were stratified by the presence of either CVD or cardiovascular risk factors prior to hospitalisation with COVID-19 and compared with controls with neither. Full recovery was determined by the response to a patient-perceived evaluation of full recovery from COVID-19 in the context of physical, physiological and cognitive determinants of health.Results From a total population of 2545 patients (38.8% women), 472 (18.5%) and 1355 (53.2%) had CVD or cardiovascular risk factors, respectively. Compared with controls (n=718), patients with CVD and cardiovascular risk factors were older and more likely to have had severe COVID-19. Full recovery was significantly lower at 12 months in patients with CVD (adjusted OR (aOR) 0.62, 95% CI 0.43 to 0.89) and cardiovascular risk factors (aOR 0.66, 95% CI 0.50 to 0.86).Conclusion Patients with CVD or cardiovascular risk factors had a delayed recovery at 12 months following hospitalisation with COVID-19. Targeted interventions to reduce the impact of COVID-19 in patients with cardiovascular disease remain an unmet need.Trail registration number ISRCTN10980107.

Abstract: Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia. Future estimations suggest an increase in global burden of AF greater than 60% by 2050. Numerous studies provide growing evidence that AF is not only associated with stroke but also with cognitive impairment and dementia.Aim The main goal is to assess the impact of the combined use of cardiac rhythm monitoring devices, echocardiography, biomarkers and neuroimaging on the early diagnosis of AF, silent strokes and cognitive decline, in subjects at high risk of AF.Methods and analysis Two-year follow-up of a cohort of individuals aged 65–85 years at high risk for AF, with no prior diagnosis of either stroke or dementia. The study involves baseline echocardiography, biomarkers, and neuroimaging, yearly cardiac monitoring, and semiannual clinical assessments. Different parameters from these tests will be analysed as independent variables. Throughout the study period, primary outcomes: new diagnoses of AF, stroke and cognitive impairment, along with any clinical and therapeutic changes, will be registered. A first descriptive and bivariate statistical analysis, appropriate to the types of variables, will be done. The information obtained from the data analysis will encompass adjusted risk estimates along with 95% confidence intervals. Event risk predictions will rely on multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models. The predictive value of the model will be evaluated through the utilisation of receiver operating characteristic curves for area under the curve calculation. Additionally, time-to-event analysis will be performed using Kaplan-Meier curves.Ethics and dissemination This study protocol has been reviewed and approved by the Independent Ethics Committee of the Foundation University Institute for Primary Health Care Research-IDIAP Jordi Gol (expedient file 22/090-P). The authors plan to disseminate the study results to the general public through various scientific events. Publication in open-access journals and presentations at scientific congresses, seminars and meetings is also foreseen.Trial registration number NCT05772806.

7. Correlation between Papillary Carcinoma and Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis

Abstract: Background and Objective: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) can be affected by underlying diseases. There is controversy about whether PTC and Hashimoto's thyroiditis are connected. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Hashimoto's thyroiditis on papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 100 cases of total thyroidectomy (TT) referred to pathology centers of public and private hospitals of Kurdistan Region, Iraq, from 2019 to 2021. Data about histopathological findings such as pathology diagnosis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), toxic goiter, multinodular goiter (MNG), diagnosis based on the physician’s report and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) results were collected and compared. Findings: Out of 100 TT cases examined, 41 cases were diagnosed as HT, 22 cases of PTC were identified, 11 of which were associated with HT background. Out of 100 TT, non-toxic goiter was found in 54 cases and toxic goiter in 5 cases. The most common indication for TT was multinodular goiter, which was found among 10 cases of PTC. There was a significant association between HT and PTC (p=0.036) with Odds ratio of 1.87 (95% CI: 1.19-2.82). FNAC was malignant or suspicious for PTC in 7 cases and histological diagnosis was malignant in 5 cases. Fourteen surgeries were performed depending on the radiological findings of suspicious nodules with the diagnosis of thyroid cancer in 6 cases‎. Conclusion: The results of the study showed a potential relationship between Hashimoto's thyroiditis and papillary thyroid carcinoma.

8. Screening of Secondary Metabolite Compounds of Gorontalo Traditional Medicinal Plants Using the In Silico Method as a Candidate for SARS-CoV-2 Antiviral

Abstract: COVID-19 is a disease that caused a prolonged pandemic in many countries caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This study aims to identify the antiviral potential of secondary metabolites in Gorontalo traditional medicinal plants, which are believed to have the ability to inhibit the main protease protein of this virus. The methods used in this research were molecular docking and molecular dynamic. The main protease proteins for SARS-CoV-2 used based on the homology modeling results were 3V3M and 7TE0. The results of the active compounds in the paxlovid drug were also compared to obtain accurate data comparisons. The validation of the docking method on the 3V3M protein using the natural ligand 0EN revealed an RMSD of 0.75 Å. The RMSD value for validating the 7TE0 protein and natural ligand 4WI was 1.65 Å. The best molecular docking results were obtained using physalin F with a binding affinity of −10.3 kcal/mol for the 3V3M protein and physalin J with a binding affinity of −8.9 kcal/mol for the 7TE0 protein. The outcomes of the molecular dynamic method on the best complexes were determined by examining the value of changes in system energy, changes in system temperature, changes in system pressure, RMSD, RMSF, and bond-free energy (ΔG) of the complex. The standard 0EN ligand had a ΔG of −26.53 kcal/mol, while the standard 4WI ligand had a ΔG of −47.16 kcal/mol. The ΔG of the 3V3M-physalin F and 3V3M-physalin J complexes were respectively −28.22 kcal/mol and −26.62 kcal/mol. The ΔG of the 7TE0-Vitexin 2”-O-gallate and 7TE0-physalin J complexes were found to be −28.08 kcal/mol and −26.62 kcal/mol, respectively. The ΔG produced in paxlovid with complexes 3V3M and 7TE0 was −19.38 kcal/mol and −25.44 kcal/mol, respectively. Physalin F, physalin J, and Vitexin 2”-O-gallate have great potential to become SARS-CoV-2 inhibitor agents. However, in terms of structural stability and binding-active residues, these three compounds do not outperform the active substance in paxlovid.

9. In silico screening of Andrographis paniculata secondary metabolites as anti-diabetes mellitus through PDE9 inhibition

Abstract: Background and purpose: Andrographis paniculata (AP) has long been used as an anti-diabetic agent, but the mechanism of action and active substance responsible for the anti-diabetic effect, particularly by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-9 (PDE9), which is one of the targets of anti-diabetic medications, have not been reported. The aim of the present study was to identify a new anti-diabetes candidate from secondary metabolite compounds of AP through PDE9 inhibition. Experimental approach: In order to prepare the chemical structures of the secondary metabolites of AP and PDE9, docking and molecular dynamics simulations were run using Discovery Studio Visualizer, AutoDockTools, AutoDock, and Gromacs, along with a few other supporting software packages. Findings/Results: Molecular docking simulations showed that two of the 46 secondary metabolites of AP had higher free energies of binding, C00003672 (-11.35 kcal/mol) and C00041378 (-9.27 kcal/mol), than native ligand (-9.23 kcal/mol). The results of molecular dynamics showed that compound C00041378 interacted with TRY484 and PHE516, two active side residues of PDE9. ΔGMMGBSA interactions of PDE9 with C00003672, C00041378, and 49E compounds are 51.69, -56.43, and -48.13 kcal/mol, respectively, as well as ΔGMMPBSA interactions of PDE9 with C00003672, C00041378, and 49E compounds, were -12.26, -16.24, and -11.79 kcal/mol kcal/mol, respectively. Conclusions and implications: Based on the evaluations of AP secondary metabolites using docking and molecular dynamics simulation, it is suggested that the C00041378 compound has the potential to be an antidiabetic candidate by inhibiting PDE9.

Abstract: The focus of research on students' anxiety when speaking a foreign language, such as English, has shifted to language learning and education. However, the experience of students who reached the intermediate level remains underexplored, particularly in the context of students in intermediate speaking classes. This study aims to identify the students’ reasons for feeling anxious and whether intermediate students also experience language anxiety. This qualitative research involved 20 participants from an intermediate-speaking class of fifth-year English Education Department undergraduate students at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. Data were collected using an unstructured interview and an observation sheet. Triangulation was used to analyze data by checking the credibility of data from interviews and observations. According to the findings of this study, students were anxious for three reasons: they were afraid of making mistakes, they were shy to speak, and they had lost motivation to speak. The students who joined the intermediate speaking class experienced anxiety as their psychological disorder. Anxiety was identified as the dominant psychological disorder among the students. It supported the previous research that found students of all levels experienced anxiety in their speaking English class. As a result, to alleviate students' anxiety about speaking a foreign language, teachers must consider the students' anxiety when developing teaching materials and media.

Abstract: Objetivo: Descrever as mutações relacionadas a Hemocromatose Hereditária em pacientes submetidos a sangria terapêutica atendidos em banco de sangue privado em Salvador - Bahia. Métodos: Foram selecionados pacientes referenciados para realização de sangria terapêutica no banco de sangue do Grupo GSH, unidade Salvador Bahia, no período entre janeiro e junho de 2023. Foram descritas as causas de encaminhamento e, em caso de HH, as mutações identificadas. Resultados: 132 pacientes foram submetidos a sangria terapêutica no período. 84,48% possuíam diagnóstico/suspeita de hemocromatose hereditária - 7,92% correspondiam a mutação em homozigose do gene C282Y e 11,8% mutação composta de C282Y e H63D em heterozigose. A mutação mais frequentemente encontrada foi relacionada ao H63D (41,28% do total). As indicações que se seguiam em maior frequência foram a causa metabólica (47,52%) e poliglobulias de causas secundárias (17,16%). Discussão: A sangria terapêutica é um procedimento de extrema importância para o tratamento de doenças como Hemocromatose Hereditária, por exemplo. Apesar das indicações bem definidas em Guidelines internacionais, há grande frequência de indicações não clássicas como demonstrado no presente estudo como nos pacientes com mutação apenas no gene H63D. Conclusão: Os dados apresentados sugerem que há número grande de prescrição de sangrias terapêuticas não conformes com as orientações estabelecidas de literatura. Estudos mais detalhados são necessários para aprofundar o entendimento desse achado.

12. MIELOFIBROSE PÓS-POLICITEMIA VERA COM MUTAÇÃO NO EXON 12: RELATO DE CASO

Abstract: Objetivos: Relato de caso de mielofibrose pós policitemia vera (PV) com mutação do exon 12 do JAK2. Materiais e métodos: Análise de prontuário médico e revisão da literatura. Resultados: Paciente do sexo masculino, 85 anos, encaminhado em 2019 de outro serviço com diagnóstico de PV em 2008, em uso de hidroxiureia 500 mg/dia. Negava ter realizado flebotomia. Comorbidades: hipertensão arterial sistêmica; úlcera duodenal, histórico de etilismo e tabagismo. À admissão apresentava-se descorado +/4; abdome globoso, com baço palpável a 8 cm do rebordo costal esquerdo e figado a 2 cm do rebordo costal direito; edema de 2+/4+ em membros inferiores bilateralmente. Exames laboratoriais: Hb: 10,6 g/dL, Ht: 30,4%, VCM: 111.4, HCM: 38,8 pg, presença de anisocitose, macrocitose, poiquilocitose, policromasia, raros dacriócitos; leucócitos: 3,87 × 109/L (3% bastonetes, 74% segmentados, 1% basófilos, 16% linfócitos, 6% monócitos), plaquetas: 293 × 109/L, LDH: 278 U/L, ácido úrico: 7,2 mg/dL. Uma vez que o paciente não trazia nenhum exame externo para confirmação do diagnóstico prévio de PV e a pesquisa da mutação V617F do JAK2 era negativa, foram solicitados dosagem de eritropoietina (EPO) (< 1 mU/mL – VR 4,3-29) e biópsia de medula óssea (BMO). Observou-se medula óssea hipercelular para a idade (90% da celularidade global), às custas das séries granulocítica e megacariocítica, com reticulogênese aumentada (grau 3) e atipias de megacariócitos. Foi realizada pesquisa de mutação do exon 12 através de sequenciamento de Sanger, sendo detectada a mutação K539L. No acompanhamento, o paciente apresentou piora da anemia, com presença de dacriócitos e eritroblastos circulantes no sangue periférico, sendo suspensa a hidroxiureia. Os dados morfológicos da medula óssea, associados aos dados clínicos e laboratoriais confirmaram o diagnóstico de mielofibrose (MF) secundária à PV. Discussão: A detecção de mutações do JAK2 é um dos critérios maiores para a o diagnóstico de PV de acordo com a classificação da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) de 2016. A maioria das mutações de JAK2 ocorre no códon 617 (V617F), em aproximadamente 96% dos casos. No entanto, as mutações no exon 12, que codificam os aminoácidos de 505-547 são raras, correspondendo a 2-5% dos casos de PV. As mutações no JAK2 causam ativação constitutiva da via JAK-STAT, que resulta em vários fenótipos. A mutação encontrada no caso relatado, K539L, ocorre em 10% dos casos com mutações no exon 12. Estudos iniciais mostravam diferenças fenotípicas entre casos de PV com mutações do exon 12 e PV com JAK2 V617FV mutado, sendo a primeira caracterizada por idade mais jovem e predominância da serie eritroide, além de níveis maiores de hemoglobina, menor contagem plaquetária e de leucócitos. No entanto, estudos recentes mostram que a longo prazo não há diferenças entre as mutações em termos de mortalidade, eventos tromboembólicos pós diagnóstico, transformação leucêmica e mielofibrose. Conclusão: A pesquisa da mutação do exon 12 do JAK2 deve sempre ser realizada em pacientes com suspeita de PV ou eritrocitose idiopática, cujo resultado da pesquisa de mutação V617F tenha sido negativa. A presença de mutações do JAK2 em combinação com dados morfológicos da medula óssea e do hemograma, dosagem de EPO e características clínicas permite o diagnóstico de evolução para mielofibrose, como no caso relatado.

13. Foreign Language Teacher's Attitudes towards a Pre-Designed Language Learning System

Abstract: Once the pandemic concluded, the Foreign Languages Department of a Chilean state university hired a Canadian company to implement a pre-designed language learning system (PLLS). This platform was to be used by all teachers and students, as it contained various activities to develop all four language skills, including pronunciation practice through AI-based voice recognition. This study explores the attitudes of 17 university teachers towards using these pre-elaborated resources, activities, and assessments in their communicative English and German courses. A mixed-method approach was used, involving a survey based on the Technology Adoption Model (TAM) and individual interviews. Descriptive statistics were obtained from the survey responses, and qualitative data were analysed using content analysis techniques. The results indicate that teachers' attitudes towards the PLLS were generally neutral to negative. Instructors expressed their concerns about the system's pre-designed content and perceived functionality. Perceived ease of use and usefulness were rated low, reporting difficulties in navigation and alignment with their teaching styles. Perceived enjoyment received the lowest rating, mentioning issues such as disconnected content and lack of progressive structure. Qualitative data revealed technical problems, increased workload, and concerns about the system's impact on student motivation and learning outcomes. While some positive aspects were noted, the overall attitude towards the PLLS was predominantly negative, highlighting the need for better alignment with pedagogical goals and improved implementation strategies.

Abstract: The spatial ability affects the understanding of the material that is a three-dimensional representation. This study aims to calculate the contribution of spatial ability to understanding symmetry. The research method used is correlational quantitative, with Sixty-two Chemistry Department students in the fifth semester taking chemical bonding courses. Tests of spatial intelligence and familiarity with molecular symmetry were used to compile information. The Pearson product-moment test was used to analyse the data. The results showed that students' spatial ability in the high category had a positive relationship with students' success in understanding molecular symmetry.

Abstract: We report measurements of the absolute branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D_s^{\pm} X)$, $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D^0/\bar{D}^0 X)$, and $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D^{\pm} X)$, where the latter is measured for the first time. The results are based on a 121.4\,fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(10860)$ resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. We reconstruct one $B_s^0$ meson in $e^+e^- \to \Upsilon(10860) \to B_s^{*} \bar{B}_s^{*}$ events and measure yields of $D_s^+$, $D^0$, and $D^+$ mesons in the rest of the event. We obtain $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D_s^{\pm} X) = (68.6 \pm 7.2 \pm 4.0)\%$, $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D^0/\bar{D}^0 X) = (21.5 \pm 6.1 \pm 1.8)\%$, and $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D^{\pm} X) = (12.6 \pm 4.6 \pm 1.3)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Averaging with previous Belle measurements gives $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D_s^{\pm} X) = (63.4 \pm 4.5 \pm 2.2)\%$ and $\mathcal{B}(B_s^0 \to D^0/\bar{D}^0 X) = (23.9 \pm 4.1 \pm 1.8)\%$. Abstract: We present measurements of $B \to K{}^{*}(892)\gamma$ decays using $365\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected from 2019 to 2022 by the Belle~II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. The data sample contains $(387 \pm 6) \times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ events. We measure branching fractions ($\mathcal{B}$) and $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) for both $B^{0}\to K{}^{*0}\gamma$ and $B^{+}\to K{}^{*+}\gamma$ decays. The difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries ($\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P}$) and the isospin asymmetry ($\Delta_{0+}$) between these neutral and charged channels are also measured. We obtain the following branching fractions and $C\!P$ asymmetries: $\mathcal{B} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (4.14 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.11 ) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (4.02 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.13 )\times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{0} \to K{}^{*0}\gamma) = (-3.3 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.4 )\%$, and $\mathcal{A}_{C\!P} (B^{+} \to K{}^{*+}\gamma) = (-0.7 \pm 2.9 \pm 0.6 )\%$. The measured difference in $C\!P$ asymmetries is $\Delta \mathcal{A}_{C\!P} = (+2.6 \pm 3.8 \pm 0.7 )\%$, and the measured isospin asymmetry is $\Delta_{0+} = (+5.0 \pm 2.0 \pm 1.5 )\%$. The first uncertainties listed are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are consistent with world-average values and theory predictions.

17. Basaltic mini-moon: Characterizing 2024 PT5 with the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias and the Two-meter Twin Telescope

Abstract: Context. Small bodies in Earth-like orbits, the Arjunas, are good targets for scientific exploration and mining studies as they enable low-cost missions. The subset of such objects that experience recurrent temporarily captured flyby or orbiter events, also called mini-moon episodes, are among the best ranked in terms of accessibility. Only a handful of objects are known to have engaged in such a dynamical behavior. Finding and characterizing more of them may help to expand scientific and commercial research activities in space over the next few decades. Asteroid 2024 PT5 was found recently and belongs to this group of interesting objects. Aims. Here, we investigate the orbital context of 2024 PT5, and its spectral and rotational properties. Methods. We studied the short-term orbital evolution of 2024 PT5 using direct N-body simulations. We identified its spectral class from the visible reflectance spectrum and used photometric observations to derive its rotational properties. Observational data were obtained with the OSIRIS camera spectrograph at the 10.4 m Gran Telescopio Canarias and the Two-meter Twin Telescope. Results. Asteroid 2024 PT5 experiences recurrent co-orbital engagements and mini-moon events of the temporarily captured flyby type. Its visible spectrum is consistent with that of an Sv-type asteroid or perhaps lunar ejecta. Its rotational period could be less than or close to 1 h. Conclusions. The discovery of 2024 PT5 confirms that temporarily captured flybys are relatively frequent and involve objects larger than a few meters, suitable as accessible targets for scientific research activities and commercial mining ventures in space., Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures, 3 tables, 4 appendices, submitted to A&A Letters on 23 October 2024, currently under review (corrected label in Fig. 3 and caption of Fig. D.1)

Abstract: We measure the time-integrated CP asymmetry in $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{0}_{S}$ decays reconstructed in $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow c\overline{c}$ events collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments. The corresponding data samples have integrated luminosities of 980 fb$^{-1}$ and 428 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The $D^{0}$ decays are required to originate from the $D^{*+} \rightarrow D^{0}\pi^{+}$ decay, which determines the charm flavor at production time. A control sample of $D^{0} \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}$ decays is used to correct for production and detection asymmetries. Abstract: We perform a model-independent measurement of the $D^0$-$\overline{D}{}^0$ mixing parameters using samples of $e^+e^-$-collision data collected by the Belle and Belle II experiments that have integrated luminosities of $951\ \text{fb}^{-1}$ and $408\ \text{fb}^{-1}$, respectively. Approximately $2.05\times10^6$ neutral $D$ mesons are reconstructed in the $D^0\rightarrow K^0_{S}\pi^+\pi^-$ channel, with the neutral $D$ flavor tagged by the charge of the pion in the $D^{*+}\rightarrow D^0\pi^+$ decay. Assuming charge-parity symmetry, the mixing parameters are measured to be $ x = (4.0\pm1.7\pm0.4)\times 10^{-3} $ and $ y = (2.9\pm1.4\pm0.3)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The results are consistent with previous determinations.

Abstract: We present the results of a search for gravitational-wave transients associated with core-collapse supernova SN 2023ixf, which was observed in the galaxy Messier 101 via optical emission on 2023 May 19th, during the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA 15th Engineering Run. We define a five-day on-source window during which an accompanying gravitational-wave signal may have occurred. No gravitational waves have been identified in data when at least two gravitational-wave observatories were operating, which covered $\sim 14\%$ of this five-day window. We report the search detection efficiency for various possible gravitational-wave emission models. Considering the distance to M101 (6.7 Mpc), we derive constraints on the gravitational-wave emission mechanism of core-collapse supernovae across a broad frequency spectrum, ranging from 50 Hz to 2 kHz where we assume the GW emission occurred when coincident data are available in the on-source window. Considering an ellipsoid model for a rotating proto-neutron star, our search is sensitive to gravitational-wave energy $1 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2$ and luminosity $4 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2/\text{s}$ for a source emitting at 50 Hz. These constraints are around an order of magnitude more stringent than those obtained so far with gravitational-wave data. The constraint on the ellipticity of the proto-neutron star that is formed is as low as $1.04$, at frequencies above $1200$ Hz, surpassing results from SN 2019ejj., Comment: Main paper: 6 pages, 4 figures and 1 table. Abstract: The magnetar SGR 1935+2154 is the only known Galactic source of fast radio bursts (FRBs). FRBs from SGR 1935+2154 were first detected by CHIME/FRB and STARE2 in 2020 April, after the conclusion of the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA Collaborations' O3 observing run. Here we analyze four periods of gravitational wave (GW) data from the GEO600 detector coincident with four periods of FRB activity detected by CHIME/FRB, as well as X-ray glitches and X-ray bursts detected by NICER and NuSTAR close to the time of one of the FRBs. We do not detect any significant GW emission from any of the events. Instead, using a short-duration GW search (for bursts $\leq$ 1 s) we derive 50\% (90\%) upper limits of $10^{48}$ ($10^{49}$) erg for GWs at 300 Hz and $10^{49}$ ($10^{50}$) erg at 2 kHz, and constrain the GW-to-radio energy ratio to $\leq 10^{14} - 10^{16}$. We also derive upper limits from a long-duration search for bursts with durations between 1 and 10 s. Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction and time-dependent charge-parity ($CP$) decay-rate asymmetries in $B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^0$ decays. The data sample was collected with the Belle~II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric $e^+e^-$ collider in 2019-2022 and contains $(387\pm 6)\times 10^6$ $B\overline{B}$ meson pairs from $\Upsilon(4S)$ decays. We reconstruct $392\pm 24$ signal decays and fit the $CP$ parameters from the distribution of the proper-decay-time difference of the two $B$ mesons. We measure the branching fraction to be $B(B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^0)=(2.02 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.10)\times 10^{-5}$ and the direct and mixing-induced $CP$ asymmetries to be $C_{CP}=0.13 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.03$ and $S_{CP}=-0.88 \pm 0.17 \pm 0.03$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We observe mixing-induced $CP$ violation with a significance of $5.0$ standard deviations for the first time in this mode.

23. Ejected from home: C/1980 E1 (Bowell) and C/2024 L5 (ATLAS)

Abstract: Context. Natural interstellar objects do not form isolated in deep space, but escape their natal planetary systems. Early removal from their home star systems via close flybys with still-forming planets could be the dominant ejection mechanism. However, dynamically evolved planetary systems such as the Solar System may also be a significant source of natural interstellar objects. Aims. We studied the dynamical evolution of two unusual Solar System hyperbolic comets, C/1980 E1 (Bowell) and C/2024 L5 (ATLAS), to investigate the circumstances that led them to reach moderate Solar System excess hyperbolic speeds. Methods. We used N-body simulations and statistical analyses to explore the planetary encounters that led to the ejection of C/1980 E1 and C/2024 L5, and studied their pre- and post-encounter trajectories. Results. We confirm that C/1980 E1 reached its present path into interstellar space after an encounter with Jupiter at 0.23 au on December 9, 1980. C/2024 L5 was scattered out of the Solar System following a flyby to Saturn at 0.003 au on January 24, 2022. Integrations backward in time show that C/1980 E1 came from the inner Oort cloud but C/2024 L5 could be a former retrograde, inactive Centaur. The receding velocities of C/1980 E1 and C/2024 L5 when entering interstellar space will be 3.8 and 2.8 km/s, moving towards Aries and Triangulum, respectively. Conclusions. Our results for two comets ejected from the Solar System indicate that dynamically evolved planetary systems can be effective sources of interstellar objects and provide constraints on their velocity distribution., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables. Abstract: We perform the first search for $C\!P$ violation in ${D_{(s)}^{+}\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}}$ decays. We use a combined data set from the Belle and Belle II experiments, which study $e^+e^-$ collisions at center-of-mass energies at or near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance. We use 980 fb$^{-1}$ of data from Belle and 428 fb$^{-1}$ of data from Belle~II. We measure six $C\!P$-violating asymmetries that are based on triple products and quadruple products of the momenta of final-state particles, and also the particles' helicity angles. We obtain a precision at the level of 0.5% for $D^+\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decays, and better than 0.3% for $D^+_{s}\to{}K_{S}^{0}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decays. No evidence of $C\!P$ violation is found. Our results for the triple-product asymmetries are the most precise to date for singly-Cabibbo-suppressed $D^+$ decays. Abstract: The synthesis of a dansyl cyclen-based compound as a potential chemical sensor has been carried out. The initial study of its fluorescent properties has also been conducted. This study aims to synthesize a cyclen-based compound comprising three identical pendant arms and another different arm carrying a dansyl fluorophore. Producing these heterogenous pendant arms, a-three pendant arm cyclen 9 was reacted with dansyl aziridine 10. The synthesis products were characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, and elemental analysis. In addition, a Fluorescent Spectrophotometer has been used to assess the fluorescent intensity changes of the synthetic ligand in a range of pH 2–13 and when it was titrated with some metal ions. Based on the results of characterization with 13C NMR for compound 2 and additional characterization with IR and elemental analysis for its hydrochloric form 11, it is wisely said that the proposed compound has been successfully synthesized, giving 66% yield as viscous brown oil 2. Moreover, the fluorescent property showed that the higher the pH employed, the higher the fluorescent intensity observed. Meanwhile, the addition of some cationic metals revealed that cadmium (II) gave the highest increase in the fluorescent intensities among other cationic metals.

Abstract: Highlight Research • Dipped lamp technology with CCTV (UFLPlus) to catch fish was designed in such a way that the placement of components contained was integrated, water-proof, and having a good light distribution. • The existence of a CCTV in new innovated UFLPlus that can record events in the water and greatly assist fishing activities of fishermen on passive fishing gear such as boat charts. • UFLPlus worked well to increase the number of hauling every night of fishing (from 20-30 kg to 50-60 kg per hauling). Abstract The usage of underwater immersion lights outfitted with CCTV is a technological innovation that is expected to solve the inadequacies of the acoustic work system while also improving the existing underwater immersion light work system. Underwater Fish Lamp Plus (UFLPlus) technology can attract attention and directly monitor the condition of fish in the sea from the boat. The purpose of this study was to understand how the UFLPlus was designed and constructed; to test its performance using lamplight, waterproof, and immersion tests; to learn how the light distribution pattern is formed; and to learn the state of the catch. The study was separated into two phases: the design and fabrication of UFLPlus, and numerous laboratory-scale experiments and outdoor trials with boat lift net fishing gear. The results reveal that UFLPlus performed effectively in the field after all of its physical components were tested in the laboratory, and that the values of light intensity and light distribution patterns are still in accordance with the level of adaptation to light reception on the fish retina. During the trial catch, 62 kg of anchovy (Stolephorus sp.), 27 kg of ponyfishes (Leiognathus sp.), 32.5 kg of fringe-scale sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata), and 17.5 kg of yellow-stripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) were caught. UFLPlus was capable of functioning as an underwater immersion lamp that attracts fish attention and directly monitors the arrival of fish in the water in the fishing area.

28. Policy analysis of using smartphones as learning media at senior high schools

Abstract: This study aims to examine the concept of using smartphones in school. This is because so many schools still prohibit carrying/using smartphones in school, and there is a need to consider smartphones as a learning medium for improving the quality of learning. This study is a qualitative research model with a stage application approach of the Policy Analysis Process developed by Brewer. It was conducted at Senior High Schools in Medan City, from June to September, 2020. The first analysis process carried out was an initial survey of the need for smartphones as learning media. The analysis results in each stage proved that positive impacts are made when smartphones are used as a learning medium, since the technology that has been most mastered by students is the smartphone. Completion is reached through the stages of initiation, estimation, selection, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Results show that smartphones could be accepted as learning media in high schools in Medan at the selection stage, adding that policy makers should supervise the use of smartphones in school by establishing supervisory rules. Nevertheless, one of the factors that contributed significantly to this conclusion is the menace of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The analysis results are expected to be accepted by all stakeholders in the society and be used as basis for making policies that accept smartphones as a learning medium. However, further analyses are required so that the established rules can be made to conform to standard educational procedures.

Abstract: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are promising cells for regenerative medicine therapies because they can differentiate towards multiple cell lineages. However, the occurrence of cellular senescence and the acquiring of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) limit their clinical use. Since the transcription factor TWIST1 influences expansion of MSCs, its role in regulating cellular senescence was investigated. The present study demonstrated that silencing of TWIST1 in MSCs increased the occurrence of senescence, characterised by a SASP profile different from irradiation-induced senescent MSCs. Knowing that senescence alters cellular metabolism, cellular bioenergetics was monitored by using the Seahorse XF apparatus. Both TWIST1-silencing-induced and irradiation-induced senescent MSCs had a higher oxygen consumption rate compared to control MSCs, while TWIST1-silencing-induced senescent MSCs had a low extracellular acidification rate compared to irradiation-induced senescent MSCs. Overall, data indicated how TWIST1 regulation influenced senescence in MSCs and that TWIST1 silencing-induced senescence was characterised by a specific SASP profile and metabolic state.

Abstract: The persistent BeXRBs are a class of High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXRBs), which are characterized by persistent low X-ray luminosities ($L_{\rm X} \sim 10^{34}$ erg s$^{-1}$) and wide ($P_{\rm orb} >$ 30 d), almost circular orbits. In these sources the NS is slowly rotating (with $P_{\rm spin}$ well above 100 s) and accretes matter directly from the wind of the companion Be star, without the formation of an accretion disk. Since the '90s, when the first four members of this class were identified, several other sources of the same type have been discovered and investigated. Thanks to follow-up XMM-Newton observations, we have verified that most of them share common spectral and timing properties, such as a pulsed fraction that does not vary with the photon energy and a hot (kT = 1-2 keV) blackbody spectral component which contributes for 20-40 % to the total flux and has a size consistent with the NS polar cap. Here we provide an overview of how XMM-Newton contributed to constrain the observational properties and the current understanding of this type of sources. Abstract: In galaxy survey analysis, the observed clustering statistics do not directly match theoretical predictions but rather have been processed by a window function that arises from the survey geometry including the sky footprint, redshift-dependent background number density and systematic weights. While window convolution of the power spectrum is well studied, for the bispectrum with a larger number of degrees of freedom, it poses a significant numerical and computational challenge. In this work, we consider the effect of the survey window in the tripolar spherical harmonic decomposition of the bispectrum and lay down a formal procedure for their convolution via a series expansion of configuration-space three-point correlation functions, which was first proposed by Sugiyama et al. (2019). We then provide a linear algebra formulation of the full window convolution, where an unwindowed bispectrum model vector can be directly premultiplied by a window matrix specific to each survey geometry. To validate the pipeline, we focus on the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Data Release 1 (DR1) luminous red galaxy (LRG) sample in the South Galactic Cap (SGC) in the redshift bin $0.4 \leqslant z \leqslant 0.6$. We first perform convergence checks on the measurement of the window function from discrete random catalogues, and then investigate the convergence of the window convolution series expansion truncated at a finite of number of terms as well as the performance of the window matrix. Abstract: We demonstrate a blackbody radiation thermometer based on optically excited rubidium atoms in a vapor cell. The temperature measurement is fast, with statistical uncertainty as low as 0.1% in one second. We resolve temperature with a precision of 0.04% in the range 308 K to 344 K when averaging for several seconds. Additionally, we describe an extension to this measurement scheme where the device operates as a self-calibrated, or primary, thermometer. We make progress toward realizing a primary thermometer by demonstrating a temperature-dependent self-consistent calibration scheme, with temperature accuracy of order 1% limited by the uncertainty in atomic transition dipole matrix elements.

Abstract: The estimation of uncertainties in cosmological parameters is an important challenge in Large-Scale-Structure (LSS) analyses. For standard analyses such as Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) and Full Shape, two approaches are usually considered. First: analytical estimates of the covariance matrix use Gaussian approximations and (nonlinear) clustering measurements to estimate the matrix, which allows a relatively fast and computationally cheap way to generate matrices that adapt to an arbitrary clustering measurement. On the other hand, sample covariances are an empirical estimate of the matrix based on en ensemble of clustering measurements from fast and approximate simulations. While more computationally expensive due to the large amount of simulations and volume required, these allow us to take into account systematics that are impossible to model analytically. In this work we compare these two approaches in order to enable DESI's key analyses. We find that the configuration space analytical estimate performs satisfactorily in BAO analyses and its flexibility in terms of input clustering makes it the fiducial choice for DESI's 2024 BAO analysis. On the contrary, the analytical computation of the covariance matrix in Fourier space does not reproduce the expected measurements in terms of Full Shape analyses, which motivates the use of a corrected mock covariance for DESI's Full Shape analysis., Comment: 23 pages, 5 figures 7 tables, submitted to JCAP

Abstract: We present cosmological constraints on deviations from general relativity (GR) from the first-year of clustering observations from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) in combination with other datasets. We first consider the $\mu(a,k)$-$\Sigma(a,k)$ modified gravity (MG) parametrization (as well as $\eta(a,k)$) in flat $\Lambda$CDM and $w_0 w_a$CDM backgrounds. Using a functional form for time-only evolution gives $\mu_0= 0.11^{+0.44}_{-0.54}$ from DESI(FS+BAO)+BBN and a wide prior on $n_{s}$. Using DESI(FS+BAO)+CMB+DESY3+DESY5-SN, we obtain $\mu_0 = 0.05\pm 0.22$ and $\Sigma_0 = 0.009\pm 0.045$ in the $\Lambda$CDM background. In $w_0 w_a$CDM, we obtain $\mu_0 =-0.24^{+0.32}_{-0.28}$ and $\Sigma_0 = 0.006\pm 0.043$, consistent with GR, and we still find a preference of the data for dynamical dark energy with $w_0>-1$ and $w_a<0$. We then use binned forms in the two backgrounds starting with two bins in redshift and then combining them with two bins in scale for a total of 4 and 8 MG parameters, respectively. All MG parameters are found consistent with GR. We also find that the tension reported for $\Sigma_0$ with GR when using Planck PR3 goes away when we use the recent LoLLiPoP+HiLLiPoP likelihoods. As noted previously, this seems to indicate that the tension is related to the CMB lensing anomaly in PR3 which is also alleviated when using these likelihoods. We then constrain the class of Horndeski theory in the effective field theory of dark energy. We consider both EFT-basis and $\alpha$-basis. Assuming a power law parametrization for the function $\Omega$, which controls non-minimal coupling, we obtain $\Omega_0 = 0.0120^{+0.0021}_{-0.013}$ and $s_0 = 0.99^{+0.54}_{-0.20}$ from DESI(FS+BAO)+DESY5SN+CMB in a $\Lambda$CDM background. Similar results are obtained when using the $\alpha$-basis, where we constrain $c_M<1.24$, and are all consistent with GR. [Abridged.], Comment: 52 pages, 10 figures. Abstract: We present an in-depth analysis of the fiber assignment incompleteness in the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Data Release 1 (DR1). This incompleteness is caused by the restricted mobility of the robotic fiber positioner in the DESI focal plane, which limits the number of galaxies that can be observed at the same time, especially at small angular separations. As a result, the observed clustering amplitude is suppressed in a scale-dependent manner, which, if not addressed, can severely impact the inference of cosmological parameters. We discuss the methods adopted for simulating fiber assignment on mocks and data. In particular, we introduce the fast fiber assignment (FFA) emulator, which was employed to obtain the power spectrum covariance adopted for the DR1 full-shape analysis. We present the mitigation techniques, organised in two classes: measurement stage and model stage. We then use high fidelity mocks as a reference to quantify both the accuracy of the FFA emulator and the effectiveness of the different measurement-stage mitigation techniques. This complements the studies conducted in a parallel paper for the model-stage techniques, namely the $\theta$-cut approach. We find that pairwise inverse probability (PIP) weights with angular upweighting recover the "true" clustering in all the cases considered, in both Fourier and configuration space. Abstract: Emission Line Galaxies (ELGs) are one of the main tracers that the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) uses to probe the universe. However, they are afflicted by strong spurious correlations between target density and observing conditions known as imaging systematics. We present the imaging systematics mitigation applied to the DESI Data Release 1 (DR1) large-scale structure catalogs used in the DESI 2024 cosmological analyses. We also explore extensions of the fiducial treatment. This includes a combined approach, through forward image simulations in conjunction with neural network-based regression, to obtain an angular selection function that mitigates the imaging systematics observed in the DESI DR1 ELGs target density. We further derive a line-of-sight selection function from the forward model that removes the strong redshift dependence between imaging systematics and low redshift ELGs. Combining both angular and redshift-dependent systematics, we construct a 3D selection function and assess the impact of all selection functions on clustering statistics. We quantify differences between these extended treatments and the fiducial treatment in terms of the measured 2-point statistics. We find that the results are generally consistent with the fiducial treatment and conclude that the differences are far less than the imaging systematics uncertainty included in DESI 2024 full-shape measurements. Abstract: We present cosmological results from the measurement of clustering of galaxy, quasar and Lyman-$\alpha$ forest tracers from the first year of observations with the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI Data Release 1). We adopt the full-shape (FS) modeling of the power spectrum, including the effects of redshift-space distortions, in an analysis which has been validated in a series of supporting papers. In the flat $\Lambda$CDM cosmological model, DESI (FS+BAO), combined with a baryon density prior from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis and a weak prior on the scalar spectral index, determines matter density to $\Omega_\mathrm{m}=0.2962\pm 0.0095$, and the amplitude of mass fluctuations to $\sigma_8=0.842\pm 0.034$. The addition of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) data tightens these constraints to $\Omega_\mathrm{m}=0.3056\pm 0.0049$ and $\sigma_8=0.8121\pm 0.0053$, while further addition of the the joint clustering and lensing analysis from the Dark Energy Survey Year-3 (DESY3) data leads to a 0.4% determination of the Hubble constant, $H_0 = (68.40\pm 0.27)\,{\rm km\,s^{-1}\,Mpc^{-1}}$. In models with a time-varying dark energy equation of state, combinations of DESI (FS+BAO) with CMB and type Ia supernovae continue to show the preference, previously found in the DESI DR1 BAO analysis, for $w_0>-1$ and $w_a<0$ with similar levels of significance. DESI data, in combination with the CMB, impose the upper limits on the sum of the neutrino masses of $\sum m_\nu < 0.071\,{\rm eV}$ at 95% confidence. DESI data alone measure the modified-gravity parameter that controls the clustering of massive particles, $\mu_0=0.11^{+0.45}_{-0.54}$, while the combination of DESI with the CMB and the clustering and lensing analysis from DESY3 constrains both modified-gravity parameters, giving $\mu_0 = 0.04\pm 0.22$ and $\Sigma_0 = 0.044\pm 0.047$, in agreement with general relativity. Abstract: We present the samples of galaxies and quasars used for DESI 2024 cosmological analyses, drawn from the DESI Data Release 1 (DR1). We describe the construction of large-scale structure (LSS) catalogs from these samples, which include matched sets of synthetic reference `randoms' and weights that account for variations in the observed density of the samples due to experimental design and varying instrument performance. We detail how we correct for variations in observational completeness, the input `target' densities due to imaging systematics, and the ability to confidently measure redshifts from DESI spectra. We then summarize how remaining uncertainties in the corrections can be translated to systematic uncertainties for particular analyses. We describe the weights added to maximize the signal-to-noise of DESI DR1 2-point clustering measurements. We detail measurement pipelines applied to the LSS catalogs that obtain 2-point clustering measurements in configuration and Fourier space. The resulting 2-point measurements depend on window functions and normalization constraints particular to each sample, and we present the corrections required to match models to the data. We compare the configuration- and Fourier-space 2-point clustering of the data samples to that recovered from simulations of DESI DR1 and find they are, generally, in statistical agreement to within 2\% in the inferred real-space over-density field. Abstract: We analyse the robustness of the DESI 2024 cosmological inference from fits to the full shape of the galaxy power spectrum to uncertainties in the Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD) model of the galaxy-halo connection and the choice of priors on nuisance parameters. We assess variations in the recovered cosmological parameters across a range of mocks populated with different HOD models and find that shifts are often greater than 20% of the expected statistical uncertainties from the DESI data. We encapsulate the effect of such shifts in terms of a systematic covariance term, $\mathsf{C}_{\rm HOD}$, and an additional diagonal contribution quantifying the impact of our choice of nuisance parameter priors on the ability of the effective field theory (EFT) model to correctly recover the cosmological parameters of the simulations. These two covariance contributions are designed to be added to the usual covariance term, $\mathsf{C}_{\rm stat}$, describing the statistical uncertainty in the power spectrum measurement, in order to fairly represent these sources of systematic uncertainty. This approach is more general and robust to choices of model free parameters or additional external datasets used in cosmological fits than the alternative approach of adding systematic uncertainties at the level of the recovered marginalised parameter posteriors. Abstract: Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) spectroscopy is a non-invasive, non-contact, label-free optical technique that can provide information on the mechanical properties of a material on the sub-micron scale. Over the last decade it has seen increased applications in the life sciences, driven by the observed significance of mechanical properties in biological processes, the realization of more sensitive BLS spectrometers and its extension to an imaging modality. As with other spectroscopic techniques, BLS measurements not only detect signals characteristic of the investigated sample, but also of the experimental apparatus, and can be significantly affected by measurement conditions. The aim of this consensus statement is to improve the comparability of BLS studies by providing reporting recommendations for the measured parameters and detailing common artifacts. Abstract: The precise characterization and mitigation of systematic effects is one of the biggest roadblocks impeding the detection of the fluctuations of cosmological 21cm signals. Missing data in radio cosmological experiments, often due to radio frequency interference (RFI), poses a particular challenge to power spectrum analysis as it could lead to the ringing of bright foreground modes in Fourier space, heavily contaminating the cosmological signals. Here we show that the problem of missing data becomes even more arduous in the presence of systematic effects. Using a realistic numerical simulation, we demonstrate that partially flagged data combined with systematic effects can introduce significant foreground ringing. We show that such an effect can be mitigated through inpainting the missing data. We present a rigorous statistical framework that incorporates the process of inpainting missing data into a quadratic estimator of the 21cm power spectrum. Under this framework, the uncertainties associated with our inpainting method and its impact on power spectrum statistics can be understood. Abstract: We investigate the impact of beam chromaticity, i.e., the frequency dependence of the beam window function, on cosmological and astrophysical parameter constraints from CMB power spectrum observations. We show that for future high-resolution CMB measurements it is necessary to include a color-corrected beam for each sky component with a distinct spectral energy distribution. We introduce a formalism able to easily implement the beam chromaticity in CMB power spectrum likelihood analyses and run a case study using a Simons Observatory (SO) Large Aperture Telescope-like experimental setup and within the public SO software stack. To quantify the impact, we assume that beam chromaticity is present in simulated spectra but omitted in the likelihood analysis. We find that, for passbands of fractional width $\Delta \nu/\nu \sim 0.2$, neglecting this effect leads to significant biases, with astrophysical foreground parameters shifting by more than $2\sigma$ and cosmological parameters by significant fractions of the error., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

44. A Self-Supervised Model for Multi-modal Stroke Risk Prediction

Abstract: Predicting stroke risk is a complex challenge that can be enhanced by integrating diverse clinically available data modalities. This study introduces a self-supervised multimodal framework that combines 3D brain imaging, clinical data, and image-derived features to improve stroke risk prediction prior to onset. By leveraging large unannotated clinical datasets, the framework captures complementary and synergistic information across image and tabular data modalities. Our approach is based on a contrastive learning framework that couples contrastive language-image pretraining with an image-tabular matching module, to better align multimodal data representations in a shared latent space. The model is trained on the UK Biobank, which includes structural brain MRI and clinical data. We benchmark its performance against state-of-the-art unimodal and multimodal methods using tabular, image, and image-tabular combinations under diverse frozen and trainable model settings. The proposed model outperformed self-supervised tabular (image) methods by 2.6% (2.6%) in ROC-AUC and by 3.3% (5.6%) in balanced accuracy. Additionally, it showed a 7.6% increase in balanced accuracy compared to the best multimodal supervised model. Through interpretable tools, our approach demonstrated better integration of tabular and image data, providing richer and more aligned embeddings. Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping heatmaps further revealed activated brain regions commonly associated in the literature with brain aging, stroke risk, and clinical outcomes. 45. CamemBERT 2.0: A Smarter French Language Model Aged to Perfection

Abstract: French language models, such as CamemBERT, have been widely adopted across industries for natural language processing (NLP) tasks, with models like CamemBERT seeing over 4 million downloads per month. However, these models face challenges due to temporal concept drift, where outdated training data leads to a decline in performance, especially when encountering new topics and terminology. This issue emphasizes the need for updated models that reflect current linguistic trends. In this paper, we introduce two new versions of the CamemBERT base model-CamemBERTav2 and CamemBERTv2-designed to address these challenges. CamemBERTav2 is based on the DeBERTaV3 architecture and makes use of the Replaced Token Detection (RTD) objective for better contextual understanding, while CamemBERTv2 is built on RoBERTa, which uses the Masked Language Modeling (MLM) objective. Both models are trained on a significantly larger and more recent dataset with longer context length and an updated tokenizer that enhances tokenization performance for French. We evaluate the performance of these models on both general-domain NLP tasks and domain-specific applications, such as medical field tasks, demonstrating their versatility and effectiveness across a range of use cases. Our results show that these updated models vastly outperform their predecessors, making them valuable tools for modern NLP systems. All our new models, as well as intermediate checkpoints, are made openly available on Huggingface.

46. Dynamic Zoning of Industrial Environments with Autonomous Mobile Robots

Abstract: This paper presents a scheduling algorithm that divides a manufacturing/warehouse floor into zones that an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) will occupy and complete part pick-up and drop-off tasks. Each zone is balanced so that each AMR will share each task equally. These zones change over time to accommodate fluctuations in production and to avoid overloading an AMR with tasks. A decentralized dynamic zoning (DDZ) algorithm is introduced to find the optimal zone design, eliminating the possibility of single-point failure from a centralized unit. Then a simulation is built comparing the adaptability of DDZ and other dynamic zoning algorithms from previous works. Initial results show that DDZ has a much lower throughput than other dynamic zoning algorithms but DDZ can achieve a better distribution of tasks. Initial results show that DDZ had a lower standard deviation of AMR total travel distance which was 2874.7 feet less than previous works. This 68.7\% decrease in standard deviation suggests that AMRs under DDZ travel a similar distance during production. This could be useful for real-world applications by making it easier to design charging and maintenance schedules without much downtime. 47. Enhancing Predictive Maintenance in Mining Mobile Machinery through a TinyML-enabled Hierarchical Inference Network

Abstract: Mining machinery operating in variable environments faces high wear and unpredictable stress, challenging Predictive Maintenance (PdM). This paper introduces the Edge Sensor Network for Predictive Maintenance (ESN-PdM), a hierarchical inference framework across edge devices, gateways, and cloud services for real-time condition monitoring. The system dynamically adjusts inference locations--on-device, on-gateway, or on-cloud--based on trade-offs among accuracy, latency, and battery life, leveraging Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML) techniques for model optimization on resource-constrained devices. Performance evaluations showed that on-sensor and on-gateway inference modes achieved over 90\% classification accuracy, while cloud-based inference reached 99\%. On-sensor inference reduced power consumption by approximately 44\%, enabling up to 104 hours of operation. Latency was lowest for on-device inference (3.33 ms), increasing when offloading to the gateway (146.67 ms) or cloud (641.71 ms). The ESN-PdM framework provides a scalable, adaptive solution for reliable anomaly detection and PdM, crucial for maintaining machinery uptime in remote environments. 48. KAM Theory for almost-periodic equilibria in one dimensional almost-periodic media

Abstract: We consider one dimensional chains of interacting particles subjected to one dimensional almost-periodic media. We formulate and prove two KAM type theorems corresponding to both short-range and long-range interactions respectively. Both theorems presented have an a posteriori format and establish the existence of almost-periodic equilibria. The new part here is that the potential function is given by some almost-periodic function with infinitely many incommensurate frequencies. In both cases, we do not need to assume that the system is close to integrable. We will show that if there exists an approximate solution for the functional equations, which satisfies some appropriate non-degeneracy conditions, then a true solution nearby is obtained. This procedure may be used to validate efficient numerical computations. Moreover, to well understand the role of almost-periodic media which can be approximated by quasi-periodic ones, we present a different approach -- the step by step increase of complexity method -- to the study of the above results of the almost-periodic models., Comment: 45 pages

49. Noncommutative AdS black hole and the IR holographic superconductor

Abstract: We construct a noncommutative (NC) AdS$_4$-charged black hole with a planar horizon topology. The NC effects of this geometry are captured by a Gaussian distribution of black hole mass codified in a dust-like energy-momentum tensor. A natural bound in radial coordinate is established, below which the scalar curvature changes its sign and defines a NC cutoff that embeds the point singularity. We study in detail the thermodynamic structure of this scenario, finding a well-defined black hole mass and an analytic criterion for its stability. Focusing on the AdS$_{2}$ structure near the horizon, we find a novel effective curvature radius with dependency on the NC cutoff. These results motivate us to explore the holographic superconducting system in terms of the nearness from the cutoff. The behavior of the magnetic field in the deep IR geometry is studied and we found semi-analytical novel expressions for the upper critical magnetic fields of a dual type-II superconductor in the canonical and grand canonical ensembles. The condensation in the form of hair is studied in terms of the bound states of the associated Schr\"odinger potential of the scalar field, interpreted as the dual to the density of Cooper pairs. The NC effects increase the hair formation due to a steeper AdS$_2$ throat comparable to the commutative case. Finally, we obtain the effective IR scalar field equation on the near horizon and near extremal NC Schwarzschild AdS$_2$ geometry and confirm that NC effects promote bound states that the commutative version forbids., Comment: 28 pages, 12 figures

Abstract: Driving the nuclear fusion reaction p+11B -> 3 alpha + 8.7 MeV in laboratory conditions, by interaction between high-power laser pulses and matter, has become a popular field of research, due to numerous applications that it can potentially allow: an alternative to deuterium-tritium (DT) for fusion energy production, astrophysics studies and alpha-particle generation for medical treatments. A possible scheme for laser-driven p-11B reactions is to direct a beam of laser-accelerated protons onto a boron sample (the so-called 'pitcher-catcher' scheme). This technique was successfully implemented on large, energetic lasers, yielding hundreds of joules per shot at low repetition. We present here a complementary approach, exploiting the high-repetition rate of the VEGA III petawatt laser at CLPU (Spain), aiming at accumulating results from many interactions at much lower energy, for better controlling the parameters and the statistics of the measurements. Despite a moderate energy per pulse, our experiment allowed exploring the laser-driven fusion process with tens (up to hundreds) of laser shots. The experiment provided a clear signature of the produced reactions and of the fusion products, accumulated over many shots, leading to an improved optimization of the diagnostic for these experimental campaigns In this paper we discuss the effectiveness of the laser-driven p-11B fusion in the pitcher-catcher scheme, at high-repetition rate, addressing the challenges of this experimental scheme and highlighting its critical aspects. Our proposed methodologies allow evaluating the performance of this scheme for laser-driven alpha particle production and can be adapted to high-repetition rate laser facilities with higher energy and intensity.
