Decisions made today in the automotive industry clearly indicate the inevitable end of the last resort for combustion engines, which were small-capacity engines made in line with the idea of downsizing. Certainly, one of the characteristic features of these engines will be maintaining the same power and torque with fewer cylinders, the best proof of which is the Twin Air technology engine proposed by Fiat. The consequence of this action was incomparably greater vibrations compared to classic, four-cylinder combustion engines. This article presents an analysis of various dynamic states of a small-capacity engine made using downsizing technology.

The rapid development of the automotive industry is associated with a large number of motor vehicles on public roads. As the number of active road users increases, the probability of a road accident increases. As a result of a collision, cars have minor or major damage, often related to damage to the vehicle's body structure. The paper discusses issues related to the assessment of the quality of post-accident repairs and their impact on the technical condition of the post-accident vehicle in further operation.

A feature of the braking dynamics of a road train is the occurrence of shock loads between its links, which under certain conditions can significantly impair its stability. At the same time, there is a significant increase in dynamic loads on the support-coupling device, the destruction of which can lead to an emergency situation. It is suggested to use computer modeling in addition to bench tests to diagnose the condition of traction and coupling devices. It makes it possible not only to duplicate field tests, but also to reduce their costs, to apply methods of theoretical forecasting and determination of the strength of units of traction and coupling devices of trailers and towed vehicles. In the case of a semi-trailer, the impact of the tractor is modeled taking into account the initial lateral stiffness of the pivot pin, which indicates the elasticity of the suspension, tires, chassis and support-coupling device of the tractor-trailer on the level of the ground surface. The load on the finger of the hinged-coupling device during computer modeling was estimated by the amount of stress concentration on the surface of the finger. The greatest local stresses were observed in the area of the finger's phalanx, and the maximum deformation of the finger did not exceed 0.061 mm. Bench tests with the same tensile test force as in the calculation method showed that the difference in the values obtained by these two methods was 10-3 mm, which is included in the permissible measurement error (± 1.6•10-3 mm). The combination of bench tests and computer modeling is also relevant at the design and testing stages of agricultural, forestry and special purpose vehicles and machines.

Today, abrasive blasting is experiencing rapid development, due to two important factors. The first one is related to the introduction of the throwing wheel as an element that sets the granular media in motion directing them to the treated surface, while the second factor is related to the production of modern machining media. Together, these factors make blasting one of the most efficient mechanical surface preparation methods. Unfortunately, the high erosiveness of the abrasive stream, so appreciated in the process of preparing the treated surface, also contributes to significant wear of the elements in its immediate vicinity. The undertaken issues focus on the possibilities of classifying various states of the throwing wheel of a rotary machine tool based on the analysis of its dynamic properties.

Wrapping vehicles with a special foil is not only a desire to stand out, change color, advertise your company or mark a special vehicle, but also a from of protecting the paint coating against the negative influence of external factors – e.g. UV radiation, acid rain, road pollution. It is therefore necessary to do it in a professional plant, which will guarantee that the appropriate selection of the applied film will fulfill its protective character. The article presents the issue related to the proteciton of the paint coating.

On-board diagnostics of technical condition of the brake system elements provide control during the inter-control period of operation. The use of ABS requires further development of on-board diagnostic tools based on the development of new diagnostic methods using multilevel structural and effect schemes, primarily in terms of efficiency parameters. Increase of the information content by increasing the number of measured kinematic parameters and improving the algorithms for generating control signals for the brake system actuators showed effectiveness of diagnostics. To implement diagnostics of technical state of the brake system elements on board of a vehicle, a structural diagram of a diagnostic device, which uses telecommunication means of connection with an expert system and a voltage strain gauge in the coupling device of a truck has been proposed. It is advisable to carry out in-depth element-by-element diagnostics under bench conditions, with the maximum possible exclusion of random factors affecting the process. To summarize all information about the state of the vehicle's braking system, it is necessary to use an expert system.

The construction of the mobile stage is a huge challenge for designers due to a very wide range of variable factors affecting it, such as wind or temperature, the value of which in this case depends on the geographical location. An inherent element of the influence of these factors are the accompanying various, both constant and variable loads. Detailed identification of these loads is extremely important both for the safety of use and the diagnostic possibilities of such a complex mechanical structure.

An inherent element of the impact of these factors are the accompanying different, both constant and variable loads. Detailed identification of these loads is as important as the analysis of the dynamic properties of the structure. The more so as the analyzed structure appears in two configurations, first as a semitrailer, and then as a stage.

Mathematical modeling and experimental research represented in this paper is aimed at dynamic force analysis of circuit cards in order to eliminate or reduce dynamic stress and deflection to an acceptable level and to provide strength and reliability in design of circuit card assemblies subjected to vibration. In conditions when viscous friction forces are negligible and viscous friction dampers, such as liquid dampers, cannot be used reduction of oscillation amplitude in critical frequencies was proposed by creating dry friction damper. On the base of mathematical model, the method for reducing dynamic stress and deflection in critical section of circuit cards in resonance conditions has been developed by inserting additional elastic and dissipation joint introduced by dry friction damper. The dry friction damper device is introduced in three variants of design. The effectiveness of dry friction damper is characterized by its elastic and damping characteristics and especially by the stiffness.

Dockside cranes must meet the relevant strength requirements that provide usefulness and not endanger the safety of their use. The vibration effect on structural safety hazard results from the impact of horizontal forces caused by the transport of goods for loading and transverse forces caused by wind, which can be dangerous for correct functioning. In addition, there are often serious effects of climate-related impacts of the environment, material fatigue, which actuates the degradation state of the object. Dynamic loads may therefor cause random effects that devastate the structures or lead to their catastrophic destruction.

The paper presents the possibilities of using vibroacoustic methods in the study of the technical condition of designed multimedia mobile scenes. In particular, the possibility of implementing modal analysis methods in modelling and diagnostic research process has been presented. The use of virtual methods enables diagnostic tests both at the design stage and at the stage of normal operation, whereas modal methods help to explain the nature of the work of the element under investigation.

The paper represents the mathematical model for diagnostics of the corrosion protection potential for the electric water heaters (EWH). The research objectives are the problem of determining the EWH corrosion protection technical condition during its operation. The EWH corrosion protection diagnostics is based on the mathematical model of the corrosion protection potential for EWH. The model is based on the nonlinear equivalent circuit which is modelling the nonlinear impedance of the corrosion cathodic protection. In the development of the mathematical model the authors carried out experimental measurements of the impedance for the EWH body fragment. The obtained experimental results show that mathematical model includes the fractional integrating elements. By using of the experimental results the expressions of the impedance, the impulse response is obtained. The methodological approach to increasing the reliability of the EWH corrosion protection diagnostics has been proposed, in terms of the multi-parameter diagnostics, by applying the EWH corrosion protection impedance model.

Presented study indicates the possibility of using complex estimators of vibrational energy flow used in quality testing of concrete blocks, as part of a dedicated research methodology and detailed methodologies developed in many previous studies by the author. Theoretical analysis and practical verification of the sensitivity testing measures of complex vibration processes indicate the wide possibilities of their applications. Recognizing the need to improve the testing methods of building structures for assessing their degradation status - this paper presents significant results of the research procedure in the field of effectiveness verification of proposed mutual measures in wall element bench tests.

In the course of metals treatment, there occurs a direct interaction of a tool with the processed material. It is connected with occurrence of different physio-mechanical processes significantly influencing the material’s properties, among the others such as the surface’s roughness. An attempt to estimate the shaped material’s surface in the course of the ECM process based on the measurements of the high-potential plate’s oscillations, is presented in the article.

Modal methods are classified among the methods of condition monitoring as a global method. Their main characteristic is that they allow only the determination of the status of airworthiness design without the ability to accurately locate the fault. This paper present use of experimental modal analysis to assess changes in the stiffness of the simple component and verified possibilities of this method to accurately locate the fault. Concerns relating to the accurate representation real model with virtual model created in CAD programs could have a significant effect on the results obtained from the analyzes of dynamic on these models. This article presents the results related the performed dynamic analysis, based on the theoretical modal analysis implemented in Autodesk Inventor and experimental modal analysis conducted on the real object.
