In this work, a hollow MoSe2/CuS type-II heterojunction was fabricated using hollow MoSe2 nanospheres as the basis for structural design. UV–Vis–NIR diffuse absorption tests show that MoSe2/CuS has a broad spectral absorption to extend the optical response range from UV–Vis to NIR. The light source utilization rate and interfacial area are increased by the hollow MoSe2/CuS core–shell structure. The broad absorption ability of MoSe2/CuS can facilitate the photocatalysis process. As the electrochemical impedance of MoSe2/CuS is lower than that of the MoSe2, MoSe2/CuS has a good photogenerated carrier separation efficiency. Benefiting from the synergistic facilitation effect of the multi-level 3D hollow nanosphere and the significant space charge region in type-II heterojunction, the RhB degradation efficiency of MoSe2/CuS reached 96.0% in 120.0 min under Xe (350 W) broadband spectrum light irradiation. The photocatalysis mechanism of the hollow MoSe2/CuS core–shell structure was investigated. When a diamagnetic graphite plate is placed on top of a magnet, it is subject to both magnetic levitation and gravitational forces. Computational modeling is used to demonstrate that these forces can balance each other to allow a stable tilt angle θ to be attained when the graphite plate pivots on the magnet surface. θ depends on the magnetic susceptibility χmag, which can be controlled by using laser irradiation to change the temperature of the graphite. Over a limited temperature range, there is a linear relation between the angle change Δθ and the temperature change ΔT. This predicted behavior is confirmed experimentally using a graphite plate (5 × 5 × 0.83 mm) placed on top of a 7.5 cm diameter neodymium iron boride magnet with a surface field strength of ∼5000 G. Using a 532 nm laser, θ could be continuously tuned from 52° to 26° by varying the laser power between 20 and 800 mW. The response time was about 15 s at all powers. Higher laser powers were observed to lead to a complete loss of levitation, followed by recovery and oscillation in and out of the laser beam. The linear dependence of Δθ on power suggests that photothermal tilting of the graphite plate in a magnetic field provides a fatigue resistant way to achieve large angular deviations using an external light source. Time-Resolved Serial Femtosecond Crystallography (TR-SFX) conducted at X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs) has become a powerful tool for capturing macromolecular structural movies of light-initiated processes. As the capabilities of XFELs advance, we anticipate that a new range of coherent control and structural Raman measurements will become achievable. Shorter optical and x-ray pulse durations and increasingly more exotic pulse regimes are becoming available at free electron lasers. Moreover, with high repetition enabled by the superconducting technology of European XFEL (EuXFEL) and Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS-II) , it will be possible to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the light-induced differences, allowing for the observation of vibronic motion on the sub-Angstrom level. To predict and assign this coherent motion, which is measurable with a structural technique, new theoretical approaches must be developed. In this paper, we present a theoretical density matrix approach to model the various population and coherent dynamics of a system, which considers molecular system parameters and excitation conditions. We emphasize the use of the Wigner transform of the time-dependent density matrix, which provides a phase space representation that can be directly compared to the experimental positional displacements measured in a TR-SFX experiment. Here, we extend the results from simple models to include more realistic schemes that include large relaxation terms. We explore a variety of pulse schemes using multiple model systems using realistic parameters. An open-source software package is provided to perform the density matrix simulation and Wigner transformations. Advances in coherent light sources and development of pump–probe techniques in recent decades have opened the way to study electronic motion in its natural time scale. When an ultrashort laser pulse interacts with a molecular target, a coherent superposition of electronic states is created and the triggered electron dynamics is coupled to the nuclear motion. A natural and computationally efficient choice to simulate this correlated dynamics is a trajectory-based method where the quantum-mechanical electronic evolution is coupled to a classical-like nuclear dynamics. These methods must approximate the initial correlated electron–nuclear state by associating an initial electronic wavefunction to each classical trajectory in the ensemble. Different possibilities exist that reproduce the initial populations of the exact molecular wavefunction when represented in a basis. We show that different choices yield different dynamics and explore the effect of this choice in Ehrenfest, surface hopping, and exact-factorization-based coupled-trajectory schemes in a one-dimensional two-electronic-state model system that can be solved numerically exactly. This work aims to clarify the problems that standard trajectory-based techniques might have when a coherent superposition of electronic states is created to initialize the dynamics, to discuss what properties and observables are affected by different choices of electronic initial conditions and to point out the importance of quantum-momentum-induced electronic transitions in coupled-trajectory schemes. Researching ultrafast dynamics and creating coherent light sources will both benefit significantly from the establishment of polarization control in high-order harmonic generation (HHG). By employing the time-dependent density functional theory method, we investigate HHG of carbonyl sulfide molecules using a combination of a linear polarized infrared (IR) laser and a weaker orthogonal Terahertz (THz) field. Our findings show that by adjusting the amplitude of the THz field, the movement scale of electrons in the THz direction can be tuned, thereby one can control the harmonic intensity in the IR laser direction. This method allows for the creation of near-circularly polarized attosecond pulses. Furthermore, the ellipticity of the attosecond pulse may be changed by modifying the carrier-envelope phase of the IR laser pulse. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Acquiring the thickness field of a soap film from interference colors requires an accurate relationship between color and film thickness. Throughout the literature, an interference relation derived using monochromatic waves is widely used to calculate the colors of soap films illuminated by light sources with significant frequency bandwidths by applying the relation at a number of discrete wavelengths in the source, which assumes that the interfering waves are perfectly coherent. However, since the coherence between waves is expected to decrease with increasing film thickness, it is poorly understood when interference relations derived using monochromatic waves can be applied. In this study, an interference relation incorporating the coherence between interfering waves is derived. The effects of coherence on the interference colors of soap films are then studied by comparing the colors computed using each of these two interference relations for light sources with different frequency bandwidths. As the frequency bandwidth of the light source increases, the difference in the colors computed using each interference relation increases, which implies that the accuracy of the method involving the monochromatic relation decreases with increasing frequency bandwidth of the source. Laser-produced plasma is a promising compact light source applicable in a broad range of wavelengths. We performed a spectroscopic analysis and plasma characterization of the laser-produced plasma of Al, Fe, Cu, and Inconel alloy (Ni/Cr/Fe) to explore their potential applications in the far-ultraviolet (FUV) region where these methods are yet widely exploited. The emission spectrum from each target exhibited a characteristic spectral profile over the wavelength range from 120 to 250 nm. These results were well reproduced by spectral simulations, providing detailed information on the plasma. We also developed a dedicated parabolic mirror that successfully collimated the plasma radiation into beam with an intensity enhanced by a factor of ∼ 35. Our study demonstrated the generation of collimated FUV radiation with an intensity of a 10 7 photons/pulse/1% bandwidth as a potent laboratory-size light source for various applications. This clinical study assessed photobiomodulation (PBM) induced analgesic effects of diode lasers and an LED light source on the dental pulp. Baseline responses to electric pulp testing (EPT) were recorded in 93 healthy unrestored premolar teeth in 26 adults (age range 22–63 years) attending a private dental practice. The teeth were irradiated on buccal and lingual aspects of the crown, by placing the tips on the middle third of the crown of the teeth, on separate days for each of 4 different light sources (660, 808, or 904 nm diode lasers, or a novel multi-wavelength LED light source (700–1100 nm)) using comparable parameters (100 mW, 30 s, 6 J). EPT scores were measured after a further 1-, 2-, 5- and 20-min. Discomfort caused by PBM therapy was recorded using the Wong-Baker scale. EPT changes were tracked over time using repeated measures analysis of variance. Baseline EPT scores were very consistent between different days (linear regression r2 0.9422–0.9648). All PBM devices caused a significant elevation in EPT at 5 min, with an earlier onset at 2 mins for 904 nm and LED. The LED was the only light source that elevated scores at 20 min. Across 2–20 min, when ranked by effectiveness, the greatest EPT elevations were seen for LED, followed by 904 nm, then 660 nm and finally 808 nm. Discomfort during PBM was most common with 904 nm, followed by 808 nm. No discomfort occurred from the LED. Among the light sources utilized, the LED multi-wavelength system demonstrated the largest increase in EPT readings, suggesting its potential as a non-pharmacological alternative for achieving dental analgesia compared to diode lasers. The integration of pressure quantification and visualization enhances pressure perception, accuracy, and efficiency. Current solutions require improvements in quantization accuracy, structural simplicity, and integration. We proposed a novel photonic skin comprising a 3 × 1 flexible optical fiber combiner, integrating red, green, and blue light emitting diode (LED) chips through three flexible optical fibers. Under pressure, changes in the optical fibers' transmission loss alter the output light intensity ratio, thus inducing a color shift at the combiner's output. This visible change can be precisely quantified using a color sensor chip. Performance metrics include sensing range up to 33N, sensitivity between 0.04 and 0.24 dB N−1, detection limit below 0.08 N, response time of 500 ms, recovery time of 400 ms, and durability exceeding 2000 cycles. A compact flexible circuit board manages light source driving, data acquisition, and wireless communication, forming a wearable photonic skin system. This system enables visual recognition and quantitative measurement of pressure across diverse scenarios, including different tactile modes, multi‐position pressure, finger bending, and neck movement. For oral occlusion force detection, the spatial separation of the sensing and visualization areas enables the system to simultaneously provide accurate measurements and intuitive visual assessment. ABSTRACT In this research, bimetallic CdNi nanoparticles encapsulated in a magnetic spent coffee ground (Fe3O4@COFF/CdNi) was synthesized as a new nanocatalyst. The structural and chemical characteristics of Fe3O4@COFF/CdNi were comprehensively investigated using various techniques, including FT‐IR, XRD, XPS, TEM, VSM, EDS, TGA, BET, and ICP. Through XRD, XPS analysis, TEM images, and EDS mapping, the presence of CdNi nanoalloys was conclusively established. Fe3O4@COFF/CdNi exhibited remarkable catalytic activity for the hydrogen generation from water using iso‐propanol as a clean sacrificial agent. The high catalytic performance of Fe3O4@COFF/CdNi was attributed to the synergistic cooperative effect of Cd and Ni within CdNi nanoalloys. Interestingly, this process was performed for the in situ generated hydrogen from water to reduce a range of nitrobenzenes simultaneously into the corresponding anilines in high yields (93%–98%). The magnetic and hydrophilic characteristics of Fe3O4@COFF/CdNi facilitated its reusability over five runs. Using water as the most abundant hydrogen source, for the first time for in situ hydrogen generation–reduction of nitrobenzenes without demanding on external light sources or power supplies can be mentioned as a significant milestone of this field of study. This study aims to elucidate the possible application of cobalt aluminate nanoparticles (CoAl 2 O 4) as a photocatalyst for the removal of organic dyes. The sol-gel method was employed to synthesise Nd x /CoAl 2 O 4 nanoparticles with varying weight percentages (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6 wt %). The experimental investigation focused on the photocatalytic destruction of colour, employing a visible light irradiation source. The structural and optical properties of the synthesised nanoparticle were examined through various analytical techniques, including X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Ultra Violet-Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-DRS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Tunnelling Electron Microscopy (TEM), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). The cubic spinel structure was confirmed through the study of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the Nd x /CoAl 2 O 4 nanoparticles. For the compositions x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6, the nanoparticles exhibited average crystallite sizes of 23.73, 22.99, 21.69, and 21.65 nm, respectively. The synthesised nanoparticle exhibited heterogeneous photocatalytic potential when employed as a model pollutant for the oxidative destruction of crystal violet dye. The experimental findings validated that the CoAl 2 O 4 nanoparticle exhibited a dye degradation rate of 64 % during a 100-min timeframe. Additionally, the 0.6 wt % Nd CoAl 2 O 4 nanoparticle shows a quick dye degradation rate of 91 % for crystal violet dyes when exposed to visible light sources. Hence, the synthesised nanoparticle exhibits catalytic activity and holds potential for utilisation in the treatment of hazardous contaminants in industrial wastewater. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Gait analysis aids in evaluation, classification, and follow-up of gait pattern over time in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The analysis of sagittal plane joint kinematics is of special interest to assess flexed knee gait and ankle joint deviations that commonly progress with age and indicate deterioration of gait. Although most children with CP are ambulatory, no objective quantification of gait is currently included in any of the known international follow-up programs. Is video-based 2-dimensional markerless (2D ML) gait analysis with automated processing a feasible and useful tool to quantify deviations, evaluate and classify gait, in children with CP? Methods: Twenty children with bilateral CP with Gross Motor Function Classification Scale (GMFCS) levels I–III, from five regions in Sweden, were included from the national CP registry. A single RGB-Depth video camera, sensitive to depth and contrast, was positioned laterally to a green walkway and background, with four light sources. A previously validated markerless method was employed to estimate sagittal plane hip, knee, ankle kinematics, foot orientation and spatio-temporal parameters including gait speed and step length. Results: Mean age was 10.4 (range 6.8–16.1) years. Eight children were classified as GMFCS level I, eight as II and four as III. Setup of the measurement system took 15 min, acquisition 5–15 min and processing 50 min per child. Using the 2D ML method kinematic deviations from normal could be determined and used to implement the classification of gait pattern, proposed by Rodda et al. 2001. Conclusion: 2D ML assessment is feasible, since it is accessible, easy to perform and well tolerated by the children. The 2D ML adds consistency and quantifies objectively important gait variables. Seafloor hydrothermal venting may be an important source of marine Cu and affect the biogeochemical cycling of Cu in the oceans. The distribution of Cu and its isotope compositions (δ65Cu) can provide insight into seafloor hydrothermal processes and their role in the mass balance of global Cu. To date, there are no published Cu isotope data for hydrothermal plumes and very few reports on Cu concentration distributions. This study presents both Cu concentrations and dissolved Cu isotope (δ65Cu) in hydrothermal plumes from back-arc volcanoes in the Northeast Lau Basin. The dissolved Cu (dCu) concentrations range from 2.14 to 5.66 nM most of which are higher than the deep seawater concentrations. However, the concentrations for some plume samples were lower than the deep seawater dCu concentrations due to adsorption onto particles in the plumes. The δ65Cu of hydrothermal plumes vary from 0.25 to 1.05 ‰. As plumes dispersed, the Cu isotopes from high-temperature Mata Fitu and Mata Ua vents shifted towards light values. In contrast, the δ65Cu in plumes from low-temperature East Mata and West Mata vents show increasingly higher values with plume dispersal. Rayleigh distillation models are built based on the adsorption of dCu onto Fe particles and complexation with organic ligands to describe the dCu isotope evolution in hydrothermal plumes. The results suggest that the adsorption and organic complexation may be the likely explanations for the observed dCu isotope compositions in plumes from high- and low-temperature venting, separately, besides the mixing with background seawater. Our measured δ65Cu in three fluid samples (0.08, 0.09 and 0.20 ‰) are lower than that of the characterized sinks (∼0.3 ‰) in the oceans, indicating that hydrothermal fluids might be a source of light Cu isotopes. However, the δ65Cu (0.53 ‰ on average) in plume samples are higher than 0.3 ‰ and these seafloor hydrothermal plumes do not seem to be a source of light Cu isotope of dCu, at least near the venting sites. Our study first reveals the Cu isotope compositions and evolution in hydrothermal plumes and provides new hints about the impact of seafloor hydrothermal venting on the modern oceanic Cu isotope budget. [Display omitted] The clinical translation of photosensitizers based on ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes (RPCs) in photodynamic therapy of cancer faces several challenges. To address these limitations, we conducted an investigation to assess the potential of a cubosome formulation stabilized in water against coalescence utilizing a polyphosphoester analog of Pluronic F127 as a stabilizer and loaded with newly synthesized RPC-based photosensitizer [Ru(dppn) 2 (bpy-morph)](PF 6) 2 (bpy-morph = 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-diylbis(morpholinomethanone)), PS-Ru. The photophysical characterization of PS-Ru revealed its robust capacity to induce the formation of singlet oxygen (1O 2). Furthermore, the physicochemical analysis of the PS-Ru-loaded cubosomes dispersion demonstrated that the encapsulation of the photosensitizer within the nanoparticles did not disrupt the three-dimensional arrangement of the lipid bilayer. The biological tests showed that PS-Ru-loaded cubosomes exhibited significant phototoxic activity when exposed to the light source, in stark contrast to empty cubosomes and to the same formulation without irradiation. This promising outcome suggests the potential of the formulation in overcoming the drawbacks associated with the clinical use of RPCs in photodynamic therapy for anticancer treatments. The development of medical, military, and other fields has greatly increased the demand for broadband near-infrared light sources. This article reports that Sr 3 Sc 2 Ge 3 O 12 : Cr3+ (SSGO: Cr3+), a broadband near-infrared phosphor with 850 nm as the luminescence center, has an emission spectrum covering 700–1200 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 125 nm under 490 nm excitation. To further increase the FWHM value, Yb3+ is introduced into the phosphor of SSGO: Cr3+ to enable energy transfer from Cr3+ to Yb3+. After doping 1 % of Yb3+ onto the Sr2+ site, the near-infrared emission generated by the 4A 2 →4T 1 (4P) transition of Cr3+ and the near-infrared emission generated by the 2F 5/2 → 2F 7/2 transition of Yb3+ work so that the FWHM increases to 220 nm. In addition, the thermal stability of the phosphor after co-doping with Yb3+ is also greatly enhanced from 61.6 % to 75.1 % by comparing it to the Cr3+ single-doped sample. In addition, SSGO:0.08Cr3+, 0.01 Yb3+ was combined with a commercial 490 nm chip to prepare a broadband near-infrared light-emitting diode (pc-LED). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cyanobacteria hold great potential to revolutionize conventional industries and farming practices with their light-driven chemical production. To fully exploit their photosynthetic capacity and enhance product yield, it is crucial to investigate their intricate interplay with the environment including the light intensity and spectrum. Mathematical models provide valuable insights for optimizing strategies in this pursuit. In this study, we present an ordinary differential equation-based model for the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 to assess its performance under various light sources, including monochromatic light. Our model can reproduce a variety of physiologically measured quantities, e.g. experimentally reported partitioning of electrons through four main pathways, O2 evolution, and the rate of carbon fixation for ambient and saturated CO2. By capturing the interactions between different components of a photosynthetic system, our model helps in understanding the underlying mechanisms driving system behavior. Our model qualitatively reproduces fluorescence emitted under various light regimes, replicating Pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) fluorometry experiments with saturating pulses. Using our model, we test four hypothesized mechanisms of cyanobacterial state transitions for ensemble of parameter sets and found no physiological benefit of a model assuming phycobilisome detachment. Moreover, we evaluate metabolic control for biotechnological production under diverse light colors and irradiances. We suggest gene targets for overexpression under different illuminations to increase the yield. By offering a comprehensive computational model of cyanobacterial photosynthesis, our work enhances the basic understanding of light-dependent cyanobacterial behavior and sets the first wavelength-dependent framework to systematically test their producing capacity for biocatalysis. This program is based on a mathematical equations and developed based on well-understood principles from physics, chemistry, and physiology. The introduction of liquid crystals into microcavities has garnered considerable attention for their exceptional tunability and high sensitivity to external perturbation factors within their distinct phase states. Here, a novel light source with both wavelength tunability and an exceptionally narrow linewidth is presented. This innovation is realized by strategically manipulating LC molecules, transitioning them from a well‐aligned state to a disordered state with increasing temperature. The microcavity is tailored to support bound states in the continuum, a cutting‐edge concept in photonic research that allows for light localization with minimal loss. In the pursuit of potential biocompatibility and to reduce cytotoxicity, indium phosphide colloid quantum dots are opted to serve as the emissive carriers within the system. An ultra‐narrow linewidth light emission of 0.039 nm is observed, corresponding to a quality factor reaching 16668, along with a tunable range of 1.21 nm and a temperature sensitivity of 33.52 pm K−1. The invention's compact size and tunable character make it an ideal candidate for a variety of potential applications, such as eco‐friendly sensors with minimal ecological impact, optical modulators with precise control over light, and adaptable photonic devices that can be integrated with a diverse array of materials and configurations. Coherent optics has profoundly impacted diverse applications ranging from communications, LiDAR to quantum computations. However, developing coherent systems in integrated photonics comes at great expense in hardware integration and energy efficiency. Here we demonstrate a high-coherence parallelization strategy for advanced integrated coherent systems at minimal cost. By using a self-injection locked microcomb to injection lock distributed feedback lasers, we achieve a record high on-chip gain of 60 dB with no degradation in coherence. This strategy enables highly coherent channels with linewidths down to 10 Hz and power over 20 dBm. The overall electrical-to-optical efficiency reaches 19%, comparable to that of advanced semiconductor lasers. This method supports a silicon photonic communication link with an unprecedented data rate beyond 60 Tbit/s and reduces phase-related DSP consumption by 99.99999% compared to traditional III-V laser pump schemes. This work paves the way for realizing scalable, high-performance coherent integrated photonic systems, potentially benefiting numerous applications. Photon‐pair generation based on optical parametric down‐conversion has attracted for the application as a light source for quantum information. Highly efficient wavelength‐conversion devices require a polarity‐inversion structure when using nitride semiconductors. A transverse quasi‐phase‐matching (QPM) polarity‐inverted GaN bilayer channel waveguide device is suitable for efficient wavelength conversion. This study designed a cross‐section device to satisfy the modal dispersion phase‐matching condition between the TM02 mode pump light and the TM00 mode signal/idler light. Moreover, an AlN oxidation interlayer fabricates the Ga‐polar/N‐polar (+c/−c) GaN layers via metalorganic vapor‐phase epitaxy (MOVPE). A 145 nm thick film layer with a macro‐step‐free surface is grown by optimizing the −c‐GaN growth conditions and reducing the substrate off‐angle to 0.2°. Next, the AlN layer is oxidized in an electric furnace and MOVPE is used to regrow a 1500 nm thick +c‐GaN layer. A macrosteps‐free surface can be achieved by reducing the off‐angle to 0.2° and optimizing the −c‐GaN growth conditions to avoid hillock formation. Thermal quenching generally predominates in Er3+ 1540 nm luminescence quenching at elevated temperatures, due to intensified lattice vibration and efficient overtone vibrational relaxation by O─H stretch. This issue impedes practical device applications of shortwave infrared Er‐doped phosphors. Herein, with the mediation of surface vibrational phonons, anti‐thermal quenching of Er3+ 1540 nm emission is reported in (220)‐dominated Er3+‐doped Cs2NaHoCl6 double perovskite. The downshifting emissions can be boosted with rising temperatures from 303 to 543 K, reaching 225%@483 K of the initial intensity at 303 K, accompanied with a long lifetime of 33.02 ms at 483 K. By combining temperature‐dependent in situ Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies with the excited‐state dynamics results, the coordination role of water molecules is verified, serving as promoters instead of quenchers on the (220) facet at high temperatures. Furthermore, efficient energy transfer from Ho3+ to Er3+ enables intense 1540 nm emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 78.1% under 450 nm excitation. Finally, a compact thermally stable phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diode (LED) is designed as a narrowband shortwave infrared light source with a blue LED chip. The micro‐ring resonator (MRR) is a crucial element in integrated photonics. It allows for the realization of various optical devices, including integrated filters, modulators, micro‐ring laser cavities, detectors, optical logic switches, and nonlinear optical devices. The development of integrated photonics has enabled the integration of these devices with other components into a photonic chip to perform specific functions. For instance, widely tunable MRR‐based lasers have been integrated with optical phased arrays (OPAs), detectors, and other elements to form a fully integrated LiDAR engine. Advances in nanofabrication have facilitated the miniaturization of nanophotonic phased arrays and on‐chip lasers. MRR‐based integrated external cavity lasers (ECLs) and integrated optical frequency combs (OFCs) have significantly enhanced the scanning and detection capabilities of LiDAR recently. Additionally, their size and power consumption have been continuously reduced, rendering them suitable for chip‐scale integration. The degree of ease of use and the readily observable signals associated with the detection process are critical factors in determining the success of a detection strategy. Considering this perspective, we report the detection of phosgene by modulating the photophysical characteristics of a molecular probe, Xanth-NH2. The probe is non-emissive in nature, but the presence of phosgene facilitates the probe's radiative decay, which enables phosgene detection via fluorescence turn-on change. The fluorescence changes vary linearly with phosgene concentration, contributing to a nanomolar level detection limit for phosgene. Additionally, under a controlled set of conditions, the half-time for the reaction of Xanth-NH2 with phosgene is 68 s. To demonstrate the potential application of Xanth-NH2, probe-loaded paper strips or silica gel were developed as an economic tool for the detection of phosgene in vapor or solution phase. The advancement of Eu2+‐activated luminescent materials tailored to exhibit a range of properties is crucial for addressing the specific demands of various application fields. However, the lack of suitable lattice sites in numerous compounds for stable Eu2+ incorporation restricts their potential for diverse optical properties. Herein, a facile strategy of carbon and hydrogen coreduction utilizing graphite crucibles is proposed to effectively achieve the impressive luminescence of Eu2+ at trivalent Y sites in Rb3Y(PO4)2:Eu phosphors. Rb3Y(PO4)2:Eu exhibits blue‐violet emission when Eu2+ predominantly occupies the Rb1 and Rb2 sites. Inspiringly, by facilitating the reduction of more Eu3+ to Eu2+, a yellow emission band at 550 nm arising from Eu2+ at Y sites emerges, enabling the realization of single‐component white‐emitting and yellow‐emitting Rb3Y(PO4)2:Eu phosphors. The diverse luminescent properties of Rb3Y(PO4)2:Eu expand its potential applications in different white light source devices and optical thermometry. This work presents an innovative synthetic strategy to develop remarkable Eu2+ luminescence at trivalent cation sites, thereby broadening the optical properties of the material and enabling multifunctional applications. Broadband near-infrared (NIR) light sources cover unique optical wavelengths and are valuable in the fields of bioimaging and photodynamic therapy, night vision lighting and security monitoring. NIR phosphor converted light-emitting diode (NIR pc-LED) devices have attractive features such as tunable emission peak, low cost of production, compact in sizes and high luminous efficiency. However, heat accumulation during operation due to poor thermal conductivity of the organic resin used in packaging often causes serious reduction in luminous efficiency and accelerated degradation of the device. In present work, we developed a Cr3+-doped transparent CaF 2 -based oxy-fluoride glass-ceramic (GC) that showed a broadband emission of 700∼1400 nm under 470 nm excitation. The emission peaked at ∼880 nm, the full-width at half maximum was about ∼297 nm, and the photoluminescence quantum yield reached ∼31.19 %. The emission was derived from the electronic transition of Cr3+ ions from the 4T 2 (F) to 4A 2 (F). Through structural analysis and numerical simulation, we showed that during the heat treatment process, Cr3+ ions were enriched into the CaF 2 crystal phase and replaced the Ca2+ in the GC host with occupied the center position of the polyhedrons, which provided a weak crystal field and led to NIR emission. We built NIR pc-LED devices using optimized GC and commercial blue LED chips, and we demonstrated the application of this NIR pc-LED in night-vision lighting. Our approaches to prepare simple and stable inorganic NIR luminous materials sealed in bulk in a transparent CaF 2 -based oxy-fluoride GC and to construct pc-LED devices could provide new concept to the field and have practical implications to applications in related fields. Developing near-infrared (NIR) phosphors with high thermal stability and broadband emission is pivotal for advancing NIR light sources. In this study, we synthesized a novel borate phosphor, GdGa 3 (BO 3) 4 :Cr3+, via a high-temperature solid-state reaction. This phosphor demonstrates exceptional thermal stability, maintaining 94 % of its initial intensity even at 150 °C. Upon blue light excitation, it emits a broad spectrum from 650 to 1100 nm, peaking at 770 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of ∼130 nm. We conducted a comprehensive investigation to understand the mechanisms underlying its thermal stability. Additionally, by combining the GdGa 3 (BO 3) 4 :15%Cr3+ phosphor with a commercial blue light chip, we fabricated an NIR LED device achieving a NIR output power of 6.45 mW and a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 1.57 % at 120 mA. This study offers valuable insights into the design of advanced NIR phosphors with superior thermal stability for NIR light source applications. With the development of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) display and lighting industry, new requirements have been put forward for phosphors. Traditional syntheses of phosphors face the problems of slow temperature increase, long holding time and corresponding larger particle size. In this work, a co-precipitation combined with induction heating method was developed for the fast and efficient synthesis of Lu 2.97 Al 5 O 12 :0.03Ce3+ (LuAG:0.03Ce) phosphors. The effects of calcination temperature and holding time on the morphology and luminescence properties were investigated. The phosphor synthesized at 1600 °C for 10 min (10 min@1600 °C) has an average particle size of 500 nm, and exhibits good luminescence properties and thermal stability (maintaining 92.04 % of room temperature light intensity at 200 °C). The luminescence intensity and the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of the phosphor (60 min@1500 °C) are higher than those of a commercial phosphor. The light source fabricated with phosphor ceramic prepared by the phosphor (10 min@1500 °C) shows a luminous efficacy (LE) of 193 lm/W. Formaldehyde (HCHO) is a common indoor air pollutant. Due to its proven carcinogenicity, reducing indoor HCHO levels is a significant issue. In this study, a composite material consisting of zinc manganese oxide and BiVO4 was used as a photocatalyst for HCHO degradation. ZnMn2O4‐BiVO4 has efficient photocatalytic performance, wide application areas, high stability, and low‐cost advantages, making the substance a potentially useful photocatalyst that can be applied in fields such as energy conversion and environmental protection. BiVO4 was prepared by a hydrothermal method. It was further compounded with zinc manganese oxide to form composite as catalysts of different wt % ratios for photodegradation of HCHO using a fluorescent lamp as light source. The samples were characterized by using XRD, UV‐visible spectrometer, TEM, SEM, and photoluminescence spectrometry. The experimental data showed that 5.0 wt % zinc manganese oxide‐BiVO4 as catalyst had the highest HCHO degradation rate. The release of carbon dioxide and water increased the irradiation time. The degradation rate of HCHO was higher than that achieved with commercially available titanium oxide. The highest HCHO degradation rate was 66 % within 4 h. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Photonic elements have greater information‐carrying capabilities compared to electronic components, making the development of high‐speed, chip‐integrated optical communication devices crucial for addressing interconnect bottlenecks in high‐speed computing systems. Significant progress has been made in studying light sources and their transmission. Despite these advancements, achieving a satisfactory integration of photonic circuits with both light source and optical waveguide functions has remained a challenge. Here, a silver nanowire (AgNW) waveguide‐integrated light source is demonstrated driven by alternating current (AC) voltage. AgNW functions as both the electrode and waveguide to simplify the device structure, and the 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) monolayer acts as the gain media in device. The electroluminescence (EL) can be tunably modulated via adjusting the frequency and voltage of the AC in this device, and it is also successfully coupled into the waveguide with its transmission distance up to 25 µm. The experiments of electroluminescence and waveguide transmission of different materials and their interlayer excitons have made a preliminary exploration of multiple wavelength transmission. It provides a new research platform forward in the development of chip‐integrated optical communication devices, thereby hopefully addressing the interconnect bottleneck and unlocking the potential for enhanced performance and efficiency in high‐speed computing systems. The key components of photonic integrated circuits are nanoscale optica emitters and nanowaveguides. III‐V semiconductor nanostructures are considered as the most promising material platform for these components due to highly efficient luminescence and high refractive index, but the problem of emission coupling with waveguide is to be solved. In this work, the use of GaP nanowires (NWs) with different types of doping (GaP:Si or GaP:Be) is proposed as optical waveguides with directly integrated electrically‐driven light sources, solving the problem of emission‐to‐waveguide coupling. Single NWs are integrated with electrodes and pump electroluminescence by a tunnel junction allowing to study emission properties with nanoscale spatial resolution. Basing on the experiments on scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM), electron microscopy, time‐resolved photoluminescence micro‐spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and STM‐induced electroluminescence, it is proven that GaP NWs exhibit different integrated light‐source on doping type of NWs. GaP:Be NWs contain inclusion of the crystalline wurtzite phase with a direct bandgap, and, thus, these NW regions can be considered as electrically‐driven nanoscale sources of light monolithically integrated into GaP NW‐based waveguides. Meanwhile, GaP:Si NWs work as optical waveguides capable of efficient light generation over the entire length of NW. Rapid and accurate bacterial identification is essential for timely treatment of infections like sepsis. While traditional methods are reliable, they lack speed, and advanced molecular techniques often suffer from cost and complexity. The bacterial detection technology based on optical scattering system offers a rapid, label-free alternative but traditionally relies on complex lasers and analysis. Our enhanced approach utilizes RGB light emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source. Three diffraction images of bacterial colonies from different LED colors are separately captured by a USB camera and combined using an image registration algorithm to enhance image sharpness. Our approach utilizes an object detection model, i.e., YOLOv8, for analysis achieving high-accuracy differentiation between bacterial strains. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach, achieving an average accuracy of 97% (mAP50 of 0.97), including accurate discrimination of closely related strains and the significant pathogen Staphylococcus aureus MRSA 1320. Here we report on light-triggered generation of local flow utilizing a bio-compatible non-ionic photo-active surfactant. The mechanism is based on diffusioosmotic phenomenon, where the gradient of relative concentration with respect to different chemical species near a surface leads to an osmotic pressure gradient driving liquid flow along the surface. The application of a photo-responsive surfactant allows for easy and reversible changes in concentration gradient by positioning a light source at the desired place. Along with the so-inscribed concentration gradient one can change reversible the direction and strength of the flow even in a closed system. The phenomenology of light-driven diffusioosmotic flow (LDDO) can be used in a rather flexible way: colloids can be gathered or dispersed and bio-compatibility extends the range of colloid types also to living microorganisms such as soil bacterium Pseudomonas putida. We show that DO flow can be considered a versatile method to set hydrodynamic conditions along the sample for investigating the motility of living cells. Further advantages of employing LDDO are the flexibility of flow generation in a reversible way and with spatiotemporal control, without the need to either change the channel geometry by loading a different device, or the periphery of pumps and connectors. Near-infrared (NIR) phosphors based on Cr3+ doped garnets present great potential in the next generation of NIR light sources. Nevertheless, the huge searching space for the garnet composition makes the rapid discovery of NIR phosphors with high performance remain a great challenge for the scientific community. Herein, a generalizable machine learning (ML) strategy is designed to accelerate the exploration of innovative NIR phosphors via establishing the relationship between key parameters and emission peak wavelength (EPW). We propose a semi-supervised co-training model based on kernel ridge regression (KRR) and support vector regression (SVR), which successfully establishes an expanded dataset with unlabeled dataset (previously unidentified garnets), addressing the overfitting issue resulted from a small dataset and greatly improving the model generalization capability. The model is then interpreted to extract valuable insights into the contribution originated from different features. And a new type NIR luminescent material of Lu3Y2Ga3O12: Cr3+ (EPW~750 nm) is efficiently screened, which demonstrates a high internal (external) quantum efficiency of 97.1% (38.8%) and good thermal stability, particularly exhibiting promising application in the NIR phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LED). The damage threshold of an Au‐coated flat mirror, one of the reflective optics installed on the FEL‐2 beamline of the Dalian Coherent Light Source, China, upon far‐UV free‐electron laser irradiation is evaluated. The Biomedical Imaging and Therapy facility of the Canadian Light Source comprises two beamlines, which together cover a wide X‐ray energy range from 13 keV up to 140 keV. The beamlines were designed with a focus on synchrotron applications in preclinical imaging and veterinary science as well as microbeam radiation therapy. While these remain a major part of the activities of both beamlines, a number of recent upgrades have enhanced the versatility and performance of the beamlines, particularly for high‐resolution microtomography experiments. As a result, the user community has been quickly expanding to include researchers in advanced materials, batteries, fuel cells, agriculture, and environmental studies. This article summarizes the beam properties, describes the endstations together with the detector pool, and presents several application cases of the various X‐ray imaging techniques available to users. A state‐of‐the‐art multilayer deposition system with a 4200 mm‐long linear substrate translator housed within an ultra‐high vacuum chamber has been developed. This instrument is engineered to produce single and multilayer coatings, accommodating mirrors up to 2000 mm in length through the utilization of eight rectangular cathodes. To ensure the quality and reliability of the coatings, the system incorporates various diagnostic tools for in situ thickness uniformity and stress measurement. Furthermore, the system features an annealing process capable of heating up to 700°C within the load‐lock chamber. The entire operation, including pump down, deposition and venting processes, is automated through user‐friendly software. In addition, all essential log data, power of sputtering source, working pressure and motion positions are automatically stored for comprehensive data analysis. Preliminary commissioning results demonstrate excellent lateral film thickness uniformity, achieving 0.26% along the translation direction over 1500 mm in dynamic mode. The multilayer deposition system is poised for use in fabricating periodic, lateral‐graded and depth‐graded multilayers, specifically catering to the beamlines for diverse scientific applications at Diamond Light Source. The ID10 beamline of the SESAME (Synchrotron‐light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) synchrotron light source in Jordan was inaugurated in June 2023 and is now open to scientific users. The beamline, which was designed and installed within the European Horizon 2020 project BEAmline for Tomography at SESAME (BEATS), provides full‐field X‐ray radiography and microtomography imaging with monochromatic or polychromatic X‐rays up to photon energies of 100 keV. The photon source generated by a 2.9 T wavelength shifter with variable gap, and a double‐multilayer monochromator system allow versatile application for experiments requiring either an X‐ray beam with high intensity and flux, and/or a partially spatial coherent beam for phase‐contrast applications. Sample manipulation and X‐ray detection systems are designed to allow scanning samples with different size, weight and material, providing image voxel sizes from 13 µm down to 0.33 µm. A state‐of‐the‐art computing infrastructure for data collection, three‐dimensional (3D) image reconstruction and data analysis allows the visualization and exploration of results online within a few seconds from the completion of a scan. Insights from 3D X‐ray imaging are key to the investigation of specimens from archaeology and cultural heritage, biology and health sciences, materials science and engineering, earth, environmental sciences and more. Microtomography scans and preliminary results obtained at the beamline demonstrate that the new beamline ID10‐BEATS expands significantly the range of scientific applications that can be targeted at SESAME. The differentially pumped rare‐gas filter at the end of the VUV beamline of the Swiss Light Source has been adapted to house a windowless absorption cell for gases. Absorption spectra can be recorded from 7 eV to up to 21 eV photon energies routinely, as shown by a new water and nitrous oxide absorption spectrum. By and large, the spectra agree with previously published ones both in terms of resonance energies and absorption cross sections, but that of N2O exhibits a small shift in the band and tentative fine structures that have not yet been fully described. This setup will facilitate the measurement of absorption spectra in the VUV above the absorption edge of LiF and MgF2 windows. It will also allow us to carry out condensed‐phase measurements on thin liquid sheets and solid films. Further development options are discussed, including the recording of temperature‐dependent absorption spectra, a stationary gas cell for calibration measurements, and the improvement of the photon energy resolution. The Circular Electron–Positron Collider (CEPC) in China can also work as an excellent powerful synchrotron light source, which can generate high‐quality synchrotron radiation. This synchrotron radiation has potential advantages in the medical field as it has a broad spectrum, with energies ranging from visible light to X‐rays used in conventional radiotherapy, up to several megaelectronvolts. FLASH radiotherapy is one of the most advanced radiotherapy modalities. It is a radiotherapy method that uses ultra‐high dose rate irradiation to achieve the treatment dose in an instant; the ultra‐high dose rate used is generally greater than 40 Gy s−1, and this type of radiotherapy can protect normal tissues well. In this paper, the treatment effect of CEPC synchrotron radiation for FLASH radiotherapy was evaluated by simulation. First, a Geant4 simulation was used to build a synchrotron radiation radiotherapy beamline station, and then the dose rate that the CEPC can produce was calculated. A physicochemical model of radiotherapy response kinetics was then established, and a large number of radiotherapy experimental data were comprehensively used to fit and determine the functional relationship between the treatment effect, dose rate and dose. Finally, the macroscopic treatment effect of FLASH radiotherapy was predicted using CEPC synchrotron radiation through the dose rate and the above‐mentioned functional relationship. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection method, as a potential strategy for Cu2+ detection, has garnered widespread attention. In this paper, we present a PEC sensing platform using upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) as the conversion light source and CdTe quantum dots (QDs) as the photoactive material for the detection of Cu2+ in solution. When irradiated with a 980 nm light source, the UCNPs will absorb the 980 nm laser and emit fluorescence around 550 nm, which is then absorbed by the CdTe QDs. This absorption leads to electron-hole separation, with electrons transferring through the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) into the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. In the presence of Cu2+, the Cu2+ will be reduced to Cu+ by the electrons generated by the CdTe QDs, thereby hindering the transfer of electrons from the CdTe QDs to the ITO electrode and resulting in a reduction in current. The photocurrent continuously decreases with increasing Cu2+ concentration and shows a good linear relationship with Cu2+ concentration in the range of 1 µM to 25 µM. Black ginger (Kaempferia parviflora) is a popular plant in Thailand and Malaysia that is valued for its medicinal properties, especially its aphrodisiac qualities. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have successfully induced regeneration and various growth responses of black ginger plants in vitro. This study aims to investigate LED-induced photomorphogenesis of black ginger and to evaluate its physiology state. Shoot explants were grown in vitro under irradiation of white (400–750 nm), red (660 nm), blue (460 nm), RB (440 nm; 660 nm), and RGB (400 – 660 nm) to determine the vegetative responses of black ginger plants under the influence of light quality after six weeks. Biochemical analyses such as photosynthetic pigments, total carbohydrate content, protein estimation and free radical scavenging activity were also performed. The highest percentage of shoots was obtained at 96.67 % under blue light, but the maximum number of shoots and leaves were produced under RB LED with 3.21 ± 0.25 and 3.92 ± 0.28, respectively. The red light significantly promoted shoot length with an average length of 3.07 ± 0.21 cm. Rooting was spontaneously induced in all light treatments, with the highest number of roots recorded under RGB lighting at 11.80 ± 1.30. In general, RGB light significantly promoted the synthesis of photosynthetic pigments such as total chlorophyll content, carotenoids and porphyrins with 0.68 ± 0.02 µg/ml, 248.67 ± 3.38 µg/g and 3.94 ± 0.11 µg/g, respectively. The highest carbohydrate and protein contents were obtained with red and RB lights at 80.07 ± 9.15 mg/g and 309.33 ± 0.58 µg/ml, respectively. The control plants with white LED light showed the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity 94.34 ± 0.04%. Our results indicate that different light qualities induce photomorphogenesis of in vitro black ginger plants. The spectral combination with green light significantly improved the morphology and physiology of the plants. The ability to analyze blunt-force trauma is crucial for deciphering valuable clues concerning mechanisms of injury and as evidence for medico-legal investigations. The use of alternate light sources (ALS) has been studied over the past decade, and is proposed to outperform conventional white light (CWL) during bruise assessments. In response to the growing interest of the technology worldwide, a systematic review of the literature was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) to address the ability of ALS to detect and visualize bruising. From an initial 4055 records identified, ten studies met the eligibly criteria and were selected for this review. Evaluation also included a novel framework, referred to as SPICOT, to further systematically assess both scientific evidence and risk of bias in forensic literature. Analysis reveals that narrowband wavelengths within in the infrared or ultraviolet spectral ranges do not significantly outperform CWL in visualizing or detecting bruising. However, wavelengths within the visible spectrum, particularly 415 nm combined with longpass or bandpass yellow filters, are more effective. However, the majority of selected studies only address the sensitivity of ALS, and therefore, results may only be considered valid when the location of a bruise is known. Further investigation is required to understand the specificity of ALS, in particular how the use of topical cosmetic products, previous wounds/scar-tissue, tattoos, moles and freckles may affect detection. The ethical concern regarding the interpretation of enhanced visualized trauma should also be considered in prospect discussions prior to implementing ALS into routine practice. Nevertheless, this review finds that narrowband ALS within the visible spectrum demonstrates potential for improved injury documentation, outperforming CWL in the detection and visualization of bruising. The intersection of dynamic compression, high-rate material response and X-ray science has seen rapid growth, leading to the establishment of specialized end-stations at international facilities such as Linac Coherent Light Source LCLS (Matter at Extreme Conditions – MEC) and Advanced Photon Source APS (Dynamic Compression Sector – DCS), both USA. Although these facilities excel in working with X-rays tailored for small material volumes (i.e. $\lt 1\, {\rm mm}^3$ < 1 mm 3 ), it needs a different approach to delve into subsequent processes. This is particularly the case in the transition from the micro- to mesoscale: here the ESRF distinguishes itself. The large beam size (several cm2) of the ID19 beamline, in conjunction with a strong high energy component, source flux density, and outstanding imaging sensitivity, enables sub-surface visualization of engineering-scale structures as well as natural systems in representative volume, under high rate and shock. This is particularly valuable when studying materials with complex mesostructures and heterogeneities on relevant volumetric scales, which often dominate the dynamic material response. The study of the behavior of materials under dynamic loading presents a unique challenge due to inherently spanning over multiple lengths- and timescales. The evolution of sudden (thermo)mechanical excitation, starting from the lattice scale and progressing through grains, phase domains, and ultimately to structures, exhibits a spectrum of responses spanning from the microscopic to bulk length scales. Consequently, a diverse range of diagnostics as well as driver instrumentation is required to identify, study, and characterize this material response spectrum. This article shall introduce platforms available at beamline ID19 and underline their potential by selected showcase applications. Measuring color matching differences between observers is an important means of investigating individual differences in human color vision. In this article, we introduce a new LED‐based visual trichromator with which we have estimated color matching functions and cone spectral sensitivities in a group of five normal observers. The trichromator has side‐by‐side semi‐circular matching fields that are illuminated by two spectrally tunable LED light sources, each comprised of 18 LEDs with center wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700 nm. We used Maxwell's method to derive a set color match. A fixed triplet of red‐green‐blue (RGB) primaries produced the white standard field of 120 cd/m2 in one field. The other field, the mixture field, was illuminated by one of 11 different triplets of lights with various center wavelengths. Observers adjusted the intensities of the triplets in the mixture field to match the white standard field. All matches were made for field diameters of 2° and 10° of visual angle to allow comparisons with colorimetric standards and were repeated five times. Calibrations and tests showed that the trichromator and the measurements were stable and repeatable. Grassmann's laws predict that at the 11 color matches the excitations in the three cone types should be the same. Consequently, we can use those matches and a model of how cone spectral sensitivities vary between individuals to estimate the three underlying corneal cone spectral sensitivities for each observer (and thus how they vary from the standard (or mean) observer). The use of supplemental light has been proven to be effective in growing plants in controlled environments. These light sources have been proven effective in influencing both, developmental and phytochemical pathways. Among artificial/supplemental lights, light emitting diodes (LEDs) offer several advantages and unique properties. Consequently, the use of this novel technology has gained popularity in indoor plant cultivation. In this review, recent achievements and progress related to the preharvest application of LED technology are discussed, starting from the selection of appropriate LED wavelengths to varying photoperiod to enhance crop growth, yield, and phytochemical concentrations. The review further summarises the recent developments in the use of LED technology for cultivating crops hydroponically and the economic implications of LED usage is briefly discussed. With the development of modern technology, many people work for a long time around various artificial light sources and electronic equipment, causing them to feel discomfort in their eyes and even eye diseases. The industry currently lacks an objective quantitative environmental–visual comfort index that combines subjective and objective indicators. For this experiment, objective eye movement and electroencephalogram (EEG) signals were collected in combination with a subjective questionnaire survey and a preference inquiry for comprehensive data mining. Finally, the results on a Likert scale show that high screen brightness can reduce the visual fatigue of subjects under high illuminance and high correlated color temperature (CCT). Pupil data show that, under medium and high ambient illuminance, visual perception sensitivity is more likely to be stimulated, and visual fatigue is more likely to deepen. EEG data show that visual fatigue is related to illuminance and screen brightness. On this basis, this study proposes a new evaluation index, the visual comfort level (0.6404 average at a low screen brightness, 0.4218 average at a medium screen brightness, and 0.5139 average at a high screen brightness), where a higher score for the visual comfort level represents a better visual experience. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection method, as a potential strategy for Cu2+ detection, has garnered widespread attention. In this paper, we present a PEC sensing platform using upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) as the conversion light source and CdTe quantum dots (QDs) as the photoactive material for the detection of Cu2+ in solution. When irradiated with a 980 nm light source, the UCNPs will absorb the 980 nm laser and emit fluorescence around 550 nm, which is then absorbed by the CdTe QDs. This absorption leads to electron-hole separation, with electrons transferring through the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) into the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode. In the presence of Cu2+, the Cu2+ will be reduced to Cu+ by the electrons generated by the CdTe QDs, thereby hindering the transfer of electrons from the CdTe QDs to the ITO electrode and resulting in a reduction in current. The photocurrent continuously decreases with increasing Cu2+ concentration and shows a good linear relationship with Cu2+ concentration in the range of 1 µM to 25 µM.
