In Schleswig-Holstein, collecting printed legal deposit copies is a joint collaboration by the Kiel University Library, Schleswig-Holstein State Library and the Library of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. Between them, the collection mandate is shared in terms of content. Kiel University Library is responsible for collecting electronic deposit copies. The "Law regarding Schleswig-Holstein Libraries" was enacted in September 2016, detailing the library landscape, specifying tasks and functions of different types of libraries and their contribution to culture and education policies, and also bundling library rights and regulations of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The deposit copy regulation for the smallest of federal states, Bremen, is regulated by the Bremen Library Act 2023 as obligation to deliver copies to a specific repository. Bremen's publishing landscape predominantly consists of small and very small publishers. In line with the internal course of business in the Bremen State and University Library, the central deposit repository, monographs and journals are collected and indexed according to different subject areas. The university document server has been used as repository for the collection of electronic items since 2020. Challenges arise from the dual function of the Bremen library as state library and university library, as well as from internal organizational structures requiring the mandate to be distributed across different subject areas. Land sale and purchase is an important transaction carried out to obtain rights to land. Land is one of the most valuable assets and has the potential to generate profits in the future. Land is becoming increasingly valuable because land is increasingly scarce, over time and the increasing human population, land prices continue to increase. This makes the business of buying and selling land an investment class that is definitely promising for everyone, ranging from housing, business premises, agriculture, to investment. Therefore, the process of buying and selling land and similar actions must be carried out carefully and in accordance with applicable legal provisions. However, many people do not understand the importance of the procedures for transferring land rights in Indonesia regulated in various laws and regulations. As happened in the journal to be discussed, where there was a sale and purchase between husband and wife that had been made AJB before the Temporary Land Maker Official. Where this agreement violates the objective requirements according to the Civil Code, resulting in the agreement being "null and void". In this method we use a normative juridical method which is a library law research with an approach that is carried out using reviewing the main legal material focusing on analyzing regulations, doctrines, and legal principles related to the transfer of land rights. The study delves into the optimisation of Ukrainian legislation in line with European human rights standards to shed light on the best strategies for achieving this. Visual and graphical methods were employed in the study, and the number of applications to the European Court of Human Rights (the ECtHR) by EU candidate countries was compared. The result of the study is the identification of potential areas of optimisation of Ukrainian legislation in line with European human rights standards. By understanding these areas, we can work towards a more just and equitable legal system. The number of applications to the ECtHR for the protection of violated rights received from citizens of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova in 2021, 2022, and 2023 is determined. The study aims to assess the level of copyright knowledge among library staff and law students at the University of Venda (UNIVEN) library in Thohoyandou, Limpopo province, South Africa. The study used a quantitative research approach using a survey to gather data on understanding and awareness of copyright laws on campus. Google Forms was used to collect data. The population consisted of 38 library staff selected using a census sampling method and 112 final-year and postgraduate law students selected using a stratified random sampling method. The results of the study show that UNIVEN law students are more knowledgeable about basic copyright matters such as policies, copyright protection, public domain, copyright limitations, and fair dealing, copyright ownership than library staff. The research findings provided insight into the current level of copyright knowledge among library staff and law students and suggested strategies to improve copyright education and training in libraries. The article is a review of the monograph "Regularizations of irregular migrants in the EU. A comparative legal analysis of Austria, Germany, and Spain" written by Kevin Fredy Hinterberger. The author highlights the importance of investigating the regularization processes of immigrants in the context of the European Union and analyzes the procedures established by these three countries in their domestic law. The article emphasizes the relevance and complexity of this work, as well as the need to adopt a humane view of migration and recognize the rights of migrants. The author raises three main questions: the regularization processes in Austria, Germany, and Spain, how regularization can be used as an effective regulatory tool, and whether harmonization of regularization mechanisms at the EU level would be advantageous. The author proposes a Regularization Directive that would require Member States to harmonize their domestic legislation on the matter. According to an article in Florida Libraries, librarians are highly valued and trusted by the community. A survey conducted in 2023 found that 91% of parents trust public librarians and 87% trust school librarians. Another survey from 2017 showed that undergraduate students and faculty also have a high regard for librarians, recognizing their dedication and competence. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze whether the act of defending religion can be considered a criminal act, and whether the reason for the abolition of criminal acts can be applied to every act in the context of defending religion. The type of legal research used is normative law research or library law research, which involves analyzing legal problems through legislation, literature, and case studies. The findings of this legal research provide answers to the two problem formulations. The first problem formulation pertains to whether the act of defending religion can be classified as a crime. The answer is that it can be considered a crime when the act of defending religion is carried out using methods that violate applicable laws and regulations. In other words, if the act of defending religion involves illegal actions or contravenes established laws, it can be deemed a criminal act. However, if the act of defending religion adheres to existing legal regulations, it may not be categorized as a crime. The second problem formulation addresses whether the act of defending religion can be justified based on the reason for the abolition of a crime. It is important to note that each case of defending religion is conducted consciously and based on the will of the person involved. Library and information science professionals are considered to have appropriate skills and competencies with regard to copyright and related issues. Using a quantitative survey at the provincial level (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), the copyright literacy of library and information science professionals was investigated in Pakistan. Out of 311 respondents, 279 participated in the survey. The results indicate that library and information science professionals are somewhat familiar with copyright and related issues. The majority of them (94%) mentioned that published materials such as books and articles are under the protection of copyright. Similarly, 73% were aware of local copyright laws; however, they were less familiar with international copyright legislation. Library professionals mentioned that the current library and information science curriculum is not providing adequate knowledge about copyright, therefore, most (94%) expressed the need to include copyright legislation and basic concepts of copyright in the library and information science curriculum at all levels. Underage marriage is an event that is often considered normal by some people in Indonesia, but underage marriage can be an interesting legal issue, as in Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning amendments to Law Number 1 of 1974 in Article 7 paragraph (1) it is stated that boys and girls can marry if they have reached the age of 19 and in paragraph 2 it is stated that if a man and a woman have not reached the age specified by law, namely 19 years. statutory requirements, parents must submit a Dispensation to the Religious Court. Therefore, the formulation of the problem is used to better understand and explore underage marriages and also how to apply Article 7 paragraph (1) of Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning granting dispensation to children who are married underage. Public libraries (PLs) aim to meet the information needs of their local communities and play a vital role in the development of a nation. Comprehensive published literature is available on PLs in Pakistan and could explore the challenges encountered by these PLs in the country through literature review. Thus, to fill this gap in existing literature, a review of literature was conducted to explore the status, issues, and perspectives of the PLs in Pakistan since its partition in 1947. The researchers reviewed library and information science (LIS) literature published on the subject topics. Various electronic data sources were searched such as Taylor and Francis, Emerald Insight, EBSCOhost, Science Direct, Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA), Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA), and Google Scholar. Similarly, the profiles of prominent Pakistani LIS scholars were also consulted for the said purpose. A search string was formulated to get precise results with some limitations on extracting required data. Peer-reviewed studies published from 1947 to 2021 in the English language were included in present study, which extracted 74 citations. After deleting duplicates from titles and abstracts, a full-text assessment was done. Finally, 27 studies were included, which matched the search criteria and explored various issues of the PLs in Pakistan. The findings of this study reveal that PLs in Pakistan are facing several challenges such as nonexistence of appropriate planning, absence of library legislation, lack of ICT application in libraries, absence of policy regarding public relations and publicity (PRP) of library resources and services. Other issues are lack of proper service structure for LIS professionals, as a deficiency in providing proper LIS continuing education and training opportunities to LIS professionals, insufficient human resources, the bureaucratic administrative structure of public libraries, shortage of sufficient funds and financial independence. The highlighted issues and challenges may serve as a guide for public library policy and decision-makers in reforming their present policies, or in articulating a modern public library system in Pakistan. This study suggests several recommendations which would help the competent authorities and policymakers to transform the PLs in Pakistan from neglected to indispensable community learning and information resource centers. This is a first study of its kind in Pakistan, and it is hoped that the findings will serve as a springboard for future research in the LIS field and contribute to the literature on the PLs in Pakistan. The paper deals with the state and the issues of special libraries and libraries of science and research institutes and institutions in the Republic of Serbia between 2019 and 2022. After efforts to define the concept of special libraries, the paper lists published papers dealing with the issues of special libraries. A separate part of the paper is devoted to the problem of categorization of special libraries. Further, the topic of special libraries is viewed through the prism of the legislature - the current Law on library and information work and the Rulebook on the national standards for performing the library and information work. The overview of registration of special libraries and libraries of science and research institutes and institutions into the Central Registry on February 28, 2023, is also provided. The following chapter is about representation of special libraries and libraries of science and research institutes and institutions in the Network of Libraries of Serbia database in the mentioned timeframe. Afterwards, the paper presents a detailed categorization of special libraries in the Network of Libraries of Serbia database based on the type of activity of the organization to which the library belongs. The overview of submitted statistical data on special libraries of cultural institutions (museums, archives, institutes for protection of monuments, theaters, etc.) is particularly detailed - these libraries are the most numerous at 96 and make up 36% of the total number of special libraries. The purpose of this research is to examine the evolving democratic librarianship and its robust connection to the Nordic societal model. Through an analysis of libraries in Oslo, Tromsø, Stockholm, Aarhus and Helsinki, as well as recent changes in library laws, we have analysed contemporary democratic librarianship in the Nordic countries through four essential factors: (1) citizens in democratic activities within libraries, (2) library managerial decisions, (3) activities of political parties within public libraries and (4) library laws. Through the analysis, we show that this robust and unique ecosystem is supported by (1) discussions at book clubs and shared readings events connected to common societal concerns, (2) criteria of library directors and managers, such as neutrality, freedom of speech and clauses of the Library Act, (3) perception of politicians regarding public libraries as the centre of the democratic community and (4) the Library Acts critically impacting democratic librarianship. Academic law librarians have two primary responsibilities in the profession: to be faithful to the fundamental law of library science, and to be the frontrunners in implementing the law of the land. The Philippine copyright law tests the academic law librarians' purpose in accomplishing both responsibilities. In this pandemic, when most library services are on online modality, the academic law librarians' duty of providing information the fastest way possible may slow down due to their obligation to abide by the copyright law. To avoid this scenario and provide recommendations when this happens, the researchers of this study examines the overall perception of academic law librarians on the following: (1) the degree of which the copyright law in the country affects the librarians' provision of information service in this time of online modality; (2) the copyright law's impacts in fulfilling librarians' mission of carrying out the first fundamental law of library science; and (3) the extent of support the copyright law is providing the librarians while performing their tasks. Results are gathered using a 3-part survey questionnaire that tackles the demographics, perceptions, and concerns, and suggestions of the respondents. These are analyzed using percentages, weighted mean, and Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient. Salient results such as the low level of support the academic law librarians perceive they can get from the Philippine copyright law, and their conviction that the prevailing law needs additional provisions to protect librarians in providing information services while adhering to the fundamental law of librarianship, are significantly discussed in this study. The study adopted descriptive study to examine law libraries and sustainability of judicial precedent in Nigerian legal system. The population involved legal educators, law librarians and practitioners in four States in different geopolitical zones of Nigeria, namely Rivers State, Lagos State, Benue State, and Anambra State. Due to the large population, the study employed multi-stage of balloting and random sampling techniques to sample 100 respondents each from the selected states. Out of the 400 samples, 389 respondents responded correctly to the questionnaire, indicating a 97.3 percent response rate. A self-designed questionnaire was utilized and means score was used to answer objective 1 and 3, while objective 2 was answered with independent t-test. The findings espoused that law libraries have enormous roles and a statistically significant positive impact in the sustainability of judicial precedent in Nigerian legal system, and that law libraries face challenges related to resources, technology, and awareness. The study concluded that considering the important role of law libraries in the sustainability of judicial precedents in Nigeria legal system that addressing the challenges facing law libraries in dispensing this role is essential for the continued effectiveness of judicial precedent and the enhancement of the legal profession in Nigeria. The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation in Mexico determined that the regulations governing the legal deposit of publications do not violate copyright laws. The company Alternativa Representa, S.A. de C.V. argued that these regulations disregard authors' rights regarding the availability and reproduction of their works. However, the ruling concludes that Article 39 of the General Library Law does not violate authors' rights. According to the General Library Law and the Federal Copyright Law, depositary institutions are obligated to receive and preserve published works for public consultation, but the delivery of the works before their distribution is not required. Gender equality and gender mainstreaming are the result of unifying efforts of legislative, executive and judicial bodies in Indonesia. Gender mainstreaming operationally can be interpreted as a national development with a gender perspective. This study aimed to examine the newly framed labor regulations in Indonesia related to the right of paternity leave; to investigate how a need was felt to regulate leave permits for husbands/families to accompany women who give birth/miscarriage to help recovery of the mother after giving birth. This study adopted a scientific approach by using normative juridical law research design. Normative juridical research uses library law materials as primary legal materials. The primary legal material for this study was obtained from the Draft Law on Maternal and Child Welfare, 2022 which is seen as a revolutionary plan to resolve issues related to gender equality and gender mainstreaming. Library is an important part of the public cultural service system. Library policy is a major force that can not be ignored. As the carrier of cultural inheritance, library plays an important role in cultivating and practicing core values and promoting civilized practice in the new era. Excavating the theme of the library is the basis for determining the development and service direction of the library. The library policy is facing difficulties such as unclear construction direction and inadequate guidance. Under this background, the research on China's library policy is carried out. With the library as an example, the topic mining and quantitative analysis of library policies in the eastern, central, and western regions of my country from 2011 to 2020 were conducted using the LDA topic model. Meanwhile, the differences between the three regions were investigated. The results demonstrate that: (1) In terms of quantity, policy texts in the eastern region account for more than half of them; (2) Regarding keywords, high-frequency words mainly include culture, openness, and information in the eastern region, numbers, resources, and reading in the central region, and students, teaching, and learning in the western region; (3) The hot topics in the eastern region involve library government affairs, library digital resources, and library service mode, that is, strengthening the construction of library digital resources and improving service level with an open attitude; (4) The hot topics in the central region contain library management, library student training, and library security, suggesting that the aspects of internal management and system security are emphasized to train students and guide the modernization of the library; (5) The hot topic in the western region includes the construction of two libraries in one station for library evaluation management and library procurement, implying to promote library reform from the bottom up and make crucial arrangements for creating a new situation for grass-roots libraries. On this basis, the policy support of government departments for library development in the future should focus on formulating regulations and rules under the Library Law, establishing a dynamic balance between supply and demand, and enhancing exchanges and cooperation between libraries in the east, middle, and west. Copyright exceptions and limitations, which allow information consumers the right to use copyrighted materials without necessarily obtaining permission from or payment to the rightsholder, promote advances in the arts and sciences. Poor knowledge of copyright laws results in improper use of copyrighted materials. However, the extent to which academic library users in Ghana know about the exceptions and limitations, as well as their understanding of permissible use of information in the Copyright Act 690, 2005 of Ghana are not known. The sequential mixed methods approach was employed to collect data from 530 postgraduate students from two public and two private universities in Ghana to assess their knowledge of copyright exceptions and limitations, as well as their understanding of permissible use of information in Copyright Act 690, 2005 whilst using the services of their libraries. The study shows that students were poorly knowledgeable about the various applications of the exceptions and limitations clause in the copyright laws of Ghana: students were either indifferent (i.e. 'neutral'), or 'disagree', and 'strongly disagree' on whether the Copyright Act 690, 2005 had clauses on exceptions and limitations on various uses of information such as for 'Private copying', for 'Quotations' or 'For the benefit of persons with disability'. Over 50% of respondents were not sure that the copyright laws of Ghana had provisions for permissible use of information. Age and gender of respondent significantly influenced these responses: older students 46 years and above, and females, were more knowledgeable compared to younger students and males respectively about exceptions and limitations for 'Private copying', and 'For the benefit of people with disability' in the copyright laws of Ghana. Policymakers in Ghana should therefore adopt youth- and gender-focus strategies in copyright education for efficient administration of copyright laws in academic libraries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work discusses the need for and value of immigrant rights advocacy in libraries and archives amid the xenophobic climate in 2017. Using action research, we set out to understand how members of the Latinx community in Boston responded to President Trump’s Executive Order 13768, Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States. Our focus on the Latinx community stems from our personal connections to it; however, our findings apply broadly to migrant communities and the intersectionality with multiple identities such as ethnicity, gender, legal status, and socioeconomic class. We argue that immigrant rights, and more generally civil and human rights, are indeed information issues, and archivists and librarians have a unique role to play in advocacy for oppressed communities. We identify records literacy instruction as critical for information organizations to prevent misinformation and to safeguard civil liberties and human rights during times of political turmoil. The study analyzes legal and illegal access to e-books in Lithuanian language as one of the small language publishing markets in order to better understand the digital transformation of books in Lithuania. The range of legally and illegally publicly available online e-books in Lithuanian language was identified and analyzed in few aspects, revealing the range of choice of legally and illegally available e-books in Lithuanian. The results showed that at the end of 2020, there were about 6 thousand in legal access and over 15 thousand in illegal access unique titles of e-books in Lithuanian language. Analysis of the data showed that only 10–25% of legal e-books have become illegally accessible. The rest is "published" by users of illegal websites themselves, mostly by scanning and OCRing printed books. Four main channels for accessing legal e-books have been identified: online bookstores, libraries, subscription service platforms, and academic online bookstores. Choice to read legal books on the screen in Lithuanian language is small, and illegal access channels offer several times larger choice of e-books. The decision of some large Lithuanian publishers not to publish (or publish only symbolically) e-books does not prevent them from appearing in illegal access, and readers who are becoming more and more accustomed to reading on the screen are likely to encourage the demand and emergence of illegal supply. The mission and vision of any library is the provision of information resources and services to satisfy users of the library, Libraries are the heart of any institution supporting teaching, learning, and research. The law library is not an exception to this. This study focused on users' satisfaction with legal information resources in Adeleke University Faculty of law library Ede, Nigeria. The study employed a descriptive survey research design and purposive sampling technique to select a sample size of 100 respondents using the library regularly through the library register opened to monitor users on daily basis. Questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. 95 of the questionnaire was returned meaning 95% response. The study was carried out to know why respondents visit the law library, and their level of satisfaction with available resources, services, and facilities. The findings of the study showed that respondents were satisfied with available resources and facilities, and insecurity of items kept in the library cloakroom was a major challenge.
