The University of Florida's Institute of Inter-American Affairs (IIAA) was founded in the 1930s to promote business education and trade relations between the United States and Latin America. The institute aimed to cultivate relationships with Latin American counterparts and increase the prestige and productivity of the U.S. South. It relied on scholarships and funding to attract Latin American students and generate revenue for the university. Despite facing opposition, the IIAA grew and became a center for Latin American studies and inter-American commerce, showcasing the diverse ways in which different regions engaged with Pan-Americanism.
