Understanding morphological and physiological changes under different light conditions in native fruit species in juveniles’ stage is important, as it indicate the appropriate environment to achieve vigorous saplings. We aimed to verify growth and morphophysiological changes under shade gradient in feijoa (Acca sellowiana (O. Berg) Burret) to achieve good quality saplings adequate to improve cultivation in orchards. The saplings were grown for twenty-one-month under four shading treatments (0%, 30%, 50%, and 80%). Growth, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchanges, chlorophyll fluorescence, and leaf anatomy parameters were evaluated. Saplings under full sun and 30% shade had higher height and diameter growth and dry mass accumulation due to higher photosynthesis rate. As main acclimatization mechanisms in feijoa saplings under 80% shade were developed larger leaf area, reduced leaf blade thickness, and enhanced quantum yield of photosystem II. Even so, the net CO2 assimilation and the electron transport rate was lower and, consequently, there was a restriction on the growth and dry mass in saplings under deep shade. Therefore, to obtain higher quality feijoa saplings, we recommend that it be carried out in full sun or up to 30% shade, to maximize the sapling vigor in nurseries and, later, this light environment can also be used in orchards for favor growth and fruit production. Resumo A verificação de mudanças morfológicas e fisiológicas sob diferentes condições luminosas em espécies frutíferas nativas em estágio juvenil é importante, uma vez que indicam o ambiente adequado para a formação de mudas com alto vigor. Objetivou-se verificar o crescimento e as alterações morfofisiológicas sob gradiente de sombreamento em mudas de feijoa (Acca sellowiana (O. Berg) Burret) para obter mudas de boa qualidade, adequadas para fomentar os plantios da espécie em pomares. As mudas foram cultivadas por vinte e um meses sob quatro tratamentos de sombreamento (0%, 30%, 50% e 80%). Foram avaliados parâmetros de crescimento, pigmentos fotossintéticos, trocas gasosas, fluorescência da clorofila e anatomia foliar. Mudas a pleno sol e 30% de sombra apresentaram maior crescimento em altura, diâmetro e acúmulo de massa seca, devido à maior taxa de fotossíntese. Como principais mecanismos de aclimatação sob 80% de sombra, as mudas desenvolveram maior área foliar, redução da espessura do limbo foliar e aumento do rendimento quântico do fotossistema II. Mesmo assim, a assimilação líquida de CO2 e a taxa de transporte de elétrons foram menores e, consequentemente, houve restrição ao crescimento e acúmulo de massa seca das mudas no maior nível de sombreamento. Portanto, para a obtenção de mudas de feijoa de maior qualidade, recomendamos que seja realizada a pleno sol ou até 30% de sombra, para maximizar o vigor das mudas em viveiros e, posteriormente, este ambiente de luz também pode ser utilizado em pomares para favorecer o crescimento e a produção de frutos.

INTRODUCTION Sample stability is essential to obtain reliable results in the clinical laboratory. This study was conducted to investigate the reliability of hematological parameters using ABX Pentra 60 in samples stored for up to 72 hours at different temperatures. METHODS A total of 651 blood samples were analyzed at different analysis times: 2, 24, 48, and 72 hours and forms and storage: room temperature (25°C) and at 4°C. The imprecision of the results was evaluated by the analytical coefficient of variation (CVa%) obtained by the typical error (TE) and Kruskal-Wallis analysis, to compare the averages. The reliability of the results was evaluated by the CVa (%) within the maximum allowable analytical variation and by the difference of means of the results in relation to the baseline sample (2 hours). RESULTS Red blood count, hemoglobin, and MCH parameters showed stability up to 72 hours at room temperature and at 4°C. The other complete blood count parameters showed imprecision results emitted by the ABX Pentra 60 from 24 hours of sample storage, independent of the storage temperature. In addition, there were significant oscillations in the mean values, particularly for the samples stored at room temperature, with the exception of platelet parameters that exhibited mean changes also at 4°C. CONCLUSION The results demonstrate the importance of the clinical analyst's knowledge about the behavior of the CBC parameters over time under different storage conditions, and mainly the imprecision of the hematological equipment used, for the suitable interpretation of the results.

The energetics of eddy-mean flow interactions in the Brazil Current (BC) between 20°S and 36°S are investigated in nineteen transects perpendicular to the 200 m isobath. Ten years (2000-2009) of output data from the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) NCODA reanalysis, with a spatial resolution of 1/12.5° and five-day averages, are used. The mean kinetic energy (MKE) and eddy kinetic energy (EKE) fields presented the same subsurface spatial pattern but with reduced values. The EKE increases southward, with high values along the BC path and the offshore portion of the jet. The values of the barotropic conversion term (BTC) are highest in the surface layers and decreased with depth, whereas the values of the baroclinic conversion term (BCC) and the vertical eddy heat flux (VEHF) are highest in the subsurface. Despite the vertical thickening of the BC, the highest energy conversion rates are confined to the upper 700 m of the water column. The energetic analysis showed that the current features mixed instability processes. The vertical weighted mean of the BTC and BCC presented an oscillatory pattern related to the bathymetry. The eddy field accelerates the time-mean flow upstream and downstream of bathymetric features and drains energy from the time-mean flow over the features. The BC is baroclinically unstable south of 28°S, and the highest energy conversion rates occur in Cabo de Sao Tome, Cabo Frio and the Cone do Rio Grande.

EnglishPost harvest activities has the goal to prevent and minimize losses that occurs during commercialization of agricultural products, notability drying. The present work had the objective to determine the thermodynamic properties and evaluate the drying kinetics of tobacco leaves in different temperatures and air velocities of the drying air. Leaves were dried at air velocities of 0.5 and 1.0 m s-1 and temperatures of 40, 50, 60 and 70 oC. Five mathematical models usually used to represent the drying process of agricultural products were fitted to the experimental data. Results indicates that drying of tobacco leaves is dependent of velocity and temperature of the drying air, in which higher temperatures and air velocity leads to a lower time required to reach the equilibrium moisture content. The Modified Midilli model best represented the drying of tobacco leaves, according to statistical parameters. At a constant drying air velocity, enthalpy and entropy decreased along with increment of drying air temperature, whilst Gibbs free energy increases. Drying air velocity significantly impacts in the energy required for the process, in which increasing this parameter from 0.5 to 1.0 m s1, decreases the activation energy, from 63.65 to 55.22 kJ mol-1 portuguesAs atividades pos-colheita tem a finalidade de prevenir e minimizar as perdas que ocorrem durante a comercializacao dos produtos agricolas, com destaque para a secagem. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo determinar as propriedades termodinâmicas e analisar a cinetica de secagem de folhas de fumo em diferentes condicoes de temperatura e velocidade do ar de secagem. As folhas foram secadas com velocidade do ar a 0,5 e 1,0 m s-1 e temperaturas de 40, 50, 60 e 70 °C. Cinco modelos matematicos usualmente utilizados para a representacao do processo de secagem de produtos agricolas foram ajustados aos dados experimentais. Os resultados indicam que a secagem das folhas de fumo e dependente da velocidade e temperatura do ar de secagem, em que maiores temperaturas e velocidades do ar de secagem levam a um menor tempo requerido para se atingir o teor de agua de equilibrio. O modelo de Midilli modificado foi o que melhor representou o fenomeno de secagem das folhas de fumo, de acordo com parâmetros estatisticos. Para uma velocidade do ar de secagem constante, a entalpia e entropia decrescem com o aumento da temperatura do ar de secagem, ao passo que a energia livre de Gibbs aumenta. A velocidade do ar de secagem impacta significativamente na energia requerida no processo, em que incrementando a velocidade do ar de secagem de 0,5 para 1,0 m s-1 decresce a energia de ativacao, de 63,65 para 55,22 kJ mol-1.

To solve challenges in management of sewage infrastructure in cities with the same features of Piumhi, Brazil, this research seeks to study a method of work for the management sewage system that aims, based on accurate information, to act in a preventive way and increase the quality of the decision making as the city growths and new projects areas are occupied and to prioritize investments. Strategies for the field survey for the diagnosis of the collectors and interceptors and for wells’ information collect were stablished through meetings with the local autarchy SAAE (Water and Sewage Public Provider). A computational tool, based on Python codes, was developed to facilitate the input of georeferenced data into the QGis software. Tutorials of preventive management and contracting and supervision of future projects to the sewage network were also developed. The information obtained from the survey of the wells showed several barriers arising from the corrective management model adopted previously by SAAE and from ignorance of the population about the operation of the sewage network. During the network mapping, several stretches missing were found, some of them were corrected based on the analysis of the topography and of the wells upstream and downstream. The tool developed allows that any server of the autarchy gets access to the information about the operation of the system. Besides it allows the identification of problems and compares them to the conditions and features of the existing network, enables the definition of strategies of preventive actions and improvement of infrastructure from a historical assessment. The registration of the sewage network allowed match GIS tools and the BIM concepts, innovating the management process, improving the attendance to the population, increasing the quality of life and seeking a sustainable model that might be used by other public managers, walking towards the concept City Information Modeling.

Os dejetos suínos contribuem de forma significativa em prol da degradação dos recursos naturais e para a diminuição da qualidade de vida na região sul do estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil. O excesso de dejetos gerados pelo grande número dos suínos por unidade de área dificulta a solução do problema. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento de um sistema de tratamento de dejetos suínos, em série e em escala real, composto de unidades anaeróbias, unidades aeróbias e pós-tratamento. Os parâmetros analisados foram: DBO, DQO, PT, P-PO4, N-NH3, NTK, pH, clorofila a, biomassa algal, coliformes totais e coliformes fecais (Escherichia coli). O sistema mostrou que após um ano de funcionamento as eficiências de remoção foram satisfatórias para matéria orgânica e nutrientes, alcançando valores de 97% para DBO, 95% para DQO, 88% para N-NH3 e 74% para PT/P-PO4, mesmo com as variações de vazão e de carga orgânica aplicada. Entretanto, a remoção de coliformes fecais nas unidades aeróbias foi baixa, reduzindo somente 0,86 unidades log na lagoa facultativa aerada e 0,80 unidades log na lagoa de maturação.The swine manure contributes significantly to the degradation of natural resources and to decrease the quality of life in the southern state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The excess of manure produced by the large number of pigs per unit area hinders the solution of the problem. This study aimed to evaluate the behavior of a system developed to treat swine manure, in series and in real scale, composed of anaerobic units, aerobic units and post-treatment. The parameters analyzed were: BOD, COD, TP, PO4-P, NH3-N, TKN, pH, chlorophyll a, algal biomass, total coliforms and fecal coliforms (Escherichia coli). The system showed that, after one year of operation, the removal efficiencies were satisfactory for organic matter and nutrients, reaching values of 97% for BOD, 95% for COD, 88% for N-NH3 and 74% for PT/P-PO4, even with variations in flow and organic load applied. However the removal of fecal coliforms in the aerobic units was low, decreasing only 0.86 log units in the aerated facultative pond and 0.80 log units in the maturation pond.

Com este trabalho objetivou-se determinar as relações entre precipitações de diferentes durações para o Estado de Santa Catarina. Foram estabelecidas as séries de máximas anuais de chuva com duração de 5 a 1440 min de treze estações pluviográficas de Santa Catarina. Para cada duração foram estimadas as precipitações máximas com período de retorno de 2 a 100 anos, com base na distribuição de Gumbel-Chow. A relação média entre a chuva de 24 h e a chuva de um dia independe do período de retorno, com média para o estado de 1,17. Ao se analisar o horário da leitura da precipitação diária verificou-se que esta relação varia de 1,12 a 1,20. Em referência à chuva de 1 h em relação à chuva de 24 h observam-se valores significativamente inferiores aos normalmente usados.The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between rainfalls of different durations for the State of Santa Catarina. The series of annual maximum rainfall were defined with a duration of 5 to 1440 min of thirteen precipitation stations in Santa Catarina. For each duration maximum rainfall were estimated with a return period of 2 to 100 years, based on the Gumbel-Chow distribution. The relationship between the average rainfall of 24 h and one day rain does not depend on the return period, with an average of 1.17 for the State. When analyzing the time reading the daily precipitation it was messed that this ratio varies from 1.12 to 1.20. In relation to 1 h of rain over 24 h of rain it was observed values significantly lower than those normally used.

The recent discovery that the major histocompatibility complex of class I (MHC I) expression has a role in the synaptic elimination process, represented an insight into understanding the cross talk between neurons. In the present study, the possibility that glatiramer acetate (GA) treatment influences the MHC class I expression and the synaptic plasticity process in the spinal cord during the course of EAE was investigated. C57BL/6J mice were induced to EAE and submitted to treatment either with a placebo solution or with GA (0.05mg/animal, subcutaneously, on a daily basis). All the animals were sacrificed at the peak disease (14 days after induction) or at the point of recovery of the clinical signs (21 days after induction). The spinal cords were removed and submitted to immunohistochemical examination, Western blotting and transmission electron microscopy analysis. The results showed that GA treatment was able to decrease synaptic loss during the course of EAE, which correlates with the downregulation of the MHC I complex. The present results reinforce the neuroprotective role of GA treatment, by reducing synaptic loss during the course of the disease. Such action may be associated with the recently described role of MHC I regulation during the synaptic plasticity process.

Peripheral nerve function can be debilitated by different kinds of injury. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has been used successfully during rehabilitation to stimulate recovery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of LLLT (660 nm, 60 J/cm(2) , 40 mW/cm(2) ) on acute sciatic nerve injury.Thirty Wistar male rats were divided into three groups: (1) Normal, intact nerves; (2) I3d, crushed nerves evaluated on Day-3 post-injury; (3) I + L3d, crushed nerves submitted to two sessions of LLLT and investigated at 3 days post-injury. Sciatic nerves were removed and processed for gene expression analysis (real-time PCR) of the pro-inflammatory factors TWEAK, Fn14 and TNF-α and extracellular matrix remodeling and axonal growth markers, such as TIMP-1, MMP-2, and MMP-9. Zymography was used to determine levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 activity and Western blotting was used to evaluate TNF-α protein content. Shapiro-Wilk and Levene's tests were applied to evaluate data normality and homogeneity, respectively. One-way ANOVA followed by Tukey test was used for statistical analysis with a significance level set at 5%.An increase in TNF-α protein level was found in I + L3 compared to Normal and I3d (P 0.05). Zymography showed an increase in proMMP-9 activity, in both I3d and I + L3d groups (P 0.05). The increase was more evident in I + L3d (P = 0.02 compared to I3d). Active-MMP-9 isoform activity was increased in I + L3d compared to Normal and I3d groups (P 0.05). Furthermore, the activity of active-MMP-2 isoform was increased in I3d and I + L3 (P 0.05). An increase in TIMP-1 expression was observed in both I3d and I + L3d groups (P 0.05).The current study showed that LLLT increased MMPs activity, mainly MMP-9, and TNF-α protein level during the acute phase of nerve injury, modulating inflammation. Based on these results, it is recommended that LLLT should be started as soon as possible after peripheral nerve injury.

Para avaliação dos efeitos da adição de água em rações fareladas sobre a digestibilidade de nutrientes e energia, desempenho, ingestão de água e qualidade dos dejetos em suínos na fase de crescimento, foram utilizados 12 suínos machos castrados com peso inicial de 44,0 ± 3,1 kg, para o ensaio de digestibilidade, distribuídos em delineamento em blocos ao acaso, baseado no peso dos animais, e 18 suínos machos castrados e 18 fêmeas com peso inicial de 33,0 ± 3,5 kg, para o ensaio de desempenho, distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Todos os animais eram híbridos comerciais da linhagem Agroceres Pic. Foi formulada uma ração para atender as exigências dos animais (tratamento um), os tratamentos dois e três consistiram da mesma ração, com a adição da mesma proporção de água e com o dobro de água, respectivamente, sendo a unidade proporcional utilizada o quilograma. Não houve diferença estatística entre os tratamentos para os coeficientes de digestibilidade aparente da matéria seca, energia bruta, extrato etéreo, cálcio e fósforo, para as variáveis de desempenho e umidade, nitrogênio e fósforo fecal. Em termos absolutos a redução da ingestão de água de bebida de animais que recebem dieta líquida é de 17,81 % e a excreção de fósforo fica reduzida em 15,4 %. A adição de água em rações de suínos na fase de crescimento não influencia a digestibilidade aparente dos nutrientes da dieta, nem o desempenho dos animais quando o arraçoamento é realizado duas vezes ao dia.

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I expression by neurones and glia constitutes an important pathway that regulates synaptic plasticity. The upregulation of MHC class I after treatment with interferon beta (IFN beta) accelerates the response to injury. Therefore the present work studied the regenerative outcome after peripheral nerve lesion and treatment with IFN beta, aiming at increasing MHC class I upregulation in the spinal cord.C57BL/6J mice were subjected to unilateral sciatic nerve crush and treatment with IFN beta. The lumbar spinal cords were processed for immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, Western blotting and RT-PCR, while the sciatic nerves were submitted for immunohistochemistry, morphometry and counting of regenerated axons. Motor function recovery was monitored using the walking track test.Increased MHC class I expression in the motor nucleus of IFN beta-treated animals was detected. In the peripheral nerve, IFN beta-treated animals showed increased S100, GAP-43 and p75NTR labelling coupled with a significantly greater number of regenerated axons. No significant differences were found in neurofilament or laminin labelling. The morphological findings, indicating improvements in the regenerative process after IFN treatment were in line with the motor behaviour test applied to the animals during the recovery process.The present data reinforce the role of MHC class I upregulation in the response to injury, and suggest that IFN treatment may be beneficial to motor recovery after axotomy.

Techniques as well as substances capable of stimulating cultured Schwann cell (SC) proliferation are needed for future therapeutical applications. In this work, the effects of interferon beta (IFNbeta) and glatiramer acetate (GA) on SC cultures were tested, with interest on the growth curve and potential proliferative effects. Primary cultures were prepared from the sciatic nerves of neonatal rats and seeded onto culture plates. Such cells were then subjected to treatment with different doses of IFN beta (100, 500 and 1000 IU/ml) and of GA (1.2, 2.5 and 5.0 microg/ml) for five consecutive days. S100beta and DAPI double labeling was used in order to confirm the purity of the cultures. Both treatment with IFN and GA resulted in an increased number of cultured SCs. However, only IFN beta induced a statistically significant proliferative outcome. Such results indicate that addition of IFN beta to the culture medium is efficient in order to improve SC proliferation in vitro.

Glutamate is transported into synaptic vesicles by vesicular glutamate transporter (VGLUT) proteins. Three different VGLUTs, VGLUT1, VGLUT2, and VGLUT3, have recently been characterized, and they are considered to represent the most specific marker so far for neurons using glutamate as transmitter. We analyzed the cellular localization of VGLUT1-3 in the rat spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia (DRGs) in control rats and after dorsal rhizotomy. Using in situ hybridization, VGLUT1 mRNA containing neurons were shown in the dorsomedial part of the intermediate zone, whereas VGLUT2 mRNA-expressing neurons were present in the entire intermediate zone, both populations most likely representing interneurons. VGLUT3 mRNA could not be detected in the spinal cord. In the ventral horn, a dense plexus of VGLUT1-immunoreactive (ir) nerve terminals was present, with large varicosities abutting on presumed motoneurons. In the dorsal horn a similarly dense plexus was seen, except in laminae I and II. A very dense plexus of VGLUT2-ir fibers was distributed in the entire gray matter of the spinal cord, with many fibers lying close to presumed motoneurons. Few VGLUT3-ir fibers were distributed in the white and gray matter, including lamina IX. However, a dense VGLUT3-ir plexus was seen in the sympathetic intermedio-lateral column (IML). Multiple-labeling immunohistochemistry revealed that the VGLUT1-, VGLUT2-, and VAChT-containing varicosities in lamina IX all represent separate entities. There was no colocalization of VGLUT3 with VAChT or 5-HT in varicose fibers of the ventral horn, but some VGLUT3-ir fibers in the IML were 5-HT-positive. Lesioning of the dorsal roots resulted in an almost complete disappearance of VGLUT1-ir fibers around motoneurons and a less pronounced decrease in the remaining gray matter, whereas the density of VGLUT2- and VAChT-ir fibers appeared unaltered after lesion. Many VGLUT1-ir neurons were observed in DRGs; they were almost all large and did not colocalize calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and there was no overlap between these markers in fibers in the superficial dorsal horn. VGLUT2 was, at most, seen in a few DRG neurons. Taken together, these results suggest that the VGLUTs mRNAs are present in distinct subsets of neuronal populations at the spinal level. VGLUT1 is mainly present in primary afferents from large, CGRP-negative DRG neurons, VGLUT2 has mainly a local origin, and VGLUT3 fibers probably have a supraspinal origin.

The survival rate of domestic male and female adult Panstrongylus megistus was studied after sequential heat and cold shocks in order to investigate shock tolerance compared to that previously reported for nymphs. Sequential shocks were such that a milder shock (0°C, 5°C, 35°C, or 40°C for 1 h) preceded a severe one (0°C or 40°C for 12 h), separated by intervals of 8, 18, 24, and 72 h at 28°C (control temperature). The preliminary thermal shock induced tolerance to the more severe one, although tolerance intensity depended on the initial shock temperature and the interval between treatments. Despite the observed tolerance, the survival rate for insects subjected to both shocks decreased when compared to that of individuals subjected to a single mild shock. When tolerance differed with sex, females showed greater values than males. In contrast to the response detected in nymphs, for which higher heat tolerance values were sustained for intervals of up to 24 h (preliminary shock, 35ºC) or even longer (preliminary shock, 40ºC) between sequential shocks, significant values were verified in adults only for shock intervals of up to 8 h (preliminary shock, 40ºC). While findings for nymphs exhibited considerable cold-shock tolerance under conditions in which preliminary shocks were given at 5ºC or 0ºC and the periods between shocks were up to 72 h long, the adults were shown to be capable of acquiring a substancial tolerance response to a more severe cold shock only when the preliminary shock was given at 0ºC and shock interval surpassed 18 h. It is assumed that the mechanisms involved in the cellular protection of P. megistus under sequential temperature shocks (heat shock protein action?) may loose effectiveness with insect development. A taxa de sobrevivência de alados domiciliares machos e fêmeas de Panstrongylus megistus foi analisada, após choques seqüenciais quentes e frios, a fim de investigar aquisição de termotolerância em comparação a dados já reportados para ninfas. Os insetos foram submetidos a choques térmicos seqüenciais, sendo que um choque mais suave (0°C, 5°C, 35°C ou 40°C por 1 h) precedeu o choque mais severo (0°C ou 40°C por 12 h). Estes foram separados por intervalos de 8, 18, 24 e 72 h a 28°C (temperatura-controle). Demonstrou-se que o choque térmico preliminar pode induzir tolerância ao mais severo, embora a intensidade de tolerância seja dependente da temperatura inicial do choque e do intervalo entre os tratamentos. Apesar da tolerância observada, a taxa de sobrevivência diminuiu em insetos submetidos a ambos os choques quando comparados àqueles espécimes submetidos a um único choque suave. Quando a tolerância diferiu com o sexo, as fêmeas apresentaram tolerância maior. Diferentemente da resposta observada em ninfas, para as quais a tolerância a choques quentes se estende até quando o período entre os choques é de 24 h (choque inicial a 35ºC) ou mais (choque inicial a 40ºC), taxa expressiva de tolerância nos adultos foi verificada apenas em condições de até 8 h de intervalo entre os choques, sendo o choque inicial dado a 40ºC. Também diferindo do que acontece às ninfas, cuja tolerância ao choque frio se expressa em todas as condições semelhantemente estudadas, nos adultos observou-se expressiva tolerância ao choque frio apenas quando o choque inicial foi dado a 0ºC e o tempo entre choques seguidos ultrapassou 18 h. Presume-se que em P. megistus os mecanismos que desempenham papel na proteção celular a choques seqüenciais de temperatura (proteínas de choque?) possam perder a eficácia com o desenvolvimento do inseto.

Short-period multiples attenuation is a difficult problem for shallow water marine seismic data processing. In the past few decades many filteringmethods have been developed to solve this problem and to improve the quality of seismic imaging. The Wiener-Levinson predictive deconvolution method is one of themost useful and well known filter methods used in the seismic data processing flow. It is a statistical approach to reduce redundancy along the time variable seismictrace, allowing us to both improve the time resolution and also attenuate multiple reflections of the seismic traces. One of the assumptions of the Wiener-Levinsonmethod is that the seismic wavelet is stationary along the entire seismic trace. However, this is not true for real seismic data and to bypass this limitation the methodis normally applied using fixed time windows, distributed along the seismic trace. The present study tested a new adaptive predictive deconvolution approach for theattenuation of short-period multiples. The new approach is based on a sliding window of fixed length that is shifted sample by sample along the entire seismic trace.At each position, a new filter is computed and applied. The implied systems of equations are solved by using a recursive Levinson-type algorithm. The main differencewith respect to the conventional Wiener-Levinson approach is that the filter is updated for each data sample along the trace and no assumption is imposed on the dataoutside the considered window. The new adaptive predictive deconvolution approach was tested using a seismic line of the Jequitinhonha Basin acquired by Petrobras.The results demonstrated that the new approach is very precise for the attenuation of short-period multiples, producing better results than the ones obtained fromthe conventional Wiener-Levinson predictive deconvolution approach. A atenuação de reflexões múltiplas de curto período, presentes nos dados sísmicos adquiridos sobre lâmina d’água rasa, representa um grande problemado processamento de dados sísmicos marítimos. Nas últimas décadas, vários métodos de filtragem de dados sísmicos têm sido desenvolvidos com o propósito deatenuar reflexões múltiplas e melhorar a qualidade das seções sísmicas. O método de filtragem conhecido como deconvolução preditiva de Wiener-Levinson é bastante utilizado na indústria do petróleo. Ele permite melhorar a resolução temporal dos dados sísmicos e atenuar reflexões múltiplas, podendo ser visto como um método estatístico que remove a coerência temporal dos traços sísmicos. O método de Wiener-Levinson pressupõe que o pulso sísmico é estacionário, fato este que não ocorrenos dados sísmicos reais. Para contornar este problema, o método de Wiener-Levinson é normalmente aplicado utilizando-se janelas de tempo fixas, distribuídas ao longo do tempo de registro. No presente trabalho, empregamos um método de deconvolução preditiva adaptativa no qual as janelas de tempo deslizantes são deslocadas amostra a amostra ao longo de todo o traço sísmico. Os sistemas de equações são resolvidos com o algoritmo recursivo tipo-Levinson. Na deconvolução de Wiener-Levinson, com janelas de tempo fixa, os filtros são gerados e aplicados dentro de cada janela. Já na deconvolução preditiva adaptativa o algoritmo calcula um novo filtro a cada posição da janela deslizante. Para teste da nova abordagem utilizamos os dados sísmicos da Bacia de Jequitinhonha, cedidos pela Petrobras. Os melhores resultados foram obtidos com filtros de 25 coeficientes, distância de predição igual a 5 amostras e janela móvel de 55 amostras. Os resultados obtidos com a nova abordagem demonstram que a deconvolução preditiva adaptativa atua com eficácia na atenuação de múltiplas de curto período, apresentando resultados melhores queos gerados pelo método de deconvolução preditiva de Wiener-Levinson.Palavras-chave: processamento sísmico, Bacia do Jequitinhonha, deconvolução adaptativa, atenuação de múltiplas, deconvolução de Wiener-Levinson.
