Developmental dyslexia (DD) is a common reading disability, affecting 5% to 11% of children in North America. Children classified as having DD often have a history of early language delay (ELD) or language impairments. Nevertheless, studies have reported conflicting results as to the association between DD-ELD and the extent of current language difficulties in children with DD. To examine these relationships, we queried the parents of school-age children with reading difficulties on their child’s early and current language ability. Siblings were also examined. Children were directly assessed using quantitative tests of language and reading skills. To compare this study with the literature, we divided the sample ( N = 674) into three groups: DD, intermediate readers (IR), and skilled readers (SR). We found a significant association between DD and ELD, with parents of children in the DD/IR groups reporting their children put words together later than the SR group. We also found a significant association between DD and language difficulties, with children with low reading skills having low expressive/receptive language abilities. Finally, we identified early language predicted current language, which predicted reading skills. These data contribute to research indicating that children with DD experience language difficulties, suggesting early recognition may help identify reading problems.

Current evidence emerging from genome-wide association studies indicates that the genetic underpinnings of complex traits are likely attributable to genetic variation that changes gene expression, rather than (or in combination with) variation that changes protein-coding sequences. This is particularly compelling with respect to psychiatric disorders, as genetic changes in regulatory regions may result in differential transcriptional responses to developmental cues and environmental/psychosocial stressors. Until recently, however, the link between transcriptional regulation and psychiatric genetic risk has been understudied. Multiple obstacles have contributed to the paucity of research in this area, including challenges in identifying the positions of remote (distal from the promoter) regulatory elements (e.g. enhancers) and their target genes and the underrepresentation of neural cell types and brain tissues in epigenome projects - the availability of high-quality brain tissues for epigenetic and transcriptome profiling, particularly for the adolescent and developing brain, has been limited. Further challenges have arisen in the prediction and testing of the functional impact of DNA variation with respect to multiple aspects of transcriptional control, including regulatory-element interaction (e.g. between enhancers and promoters), transcription factor binding and DNA methylation. Further, the brain has uncommon DNA-methylation marks with unique genomic distributions not found in other tissues - current evidence suggests the involvement of non-CG methylation and 5-hydroxymethylation in neurodevelopmental processes but much remains unknown. We review here knowledge gaps as well as both technological and resource obstacles that will need to be overcome in order to elucidate the involvement of brain-relevant gene-regulatory variants in genetic risk for psychiatric disorders.

The yeast-like fungusCryptococcus neoformansfavours respiration as a mechanism of energy production, and thus depends heavily on mitochondrial function. Previous studies of aC. neoformansvad1Δ mutant revealed reduced expression of the mitochondrial elongation factorTUF1and defects in glycerol utilization, consistent with mitochondrial dysfunction. In this study, we found thatin transexpression ofTUF1in thevad1Δ mutant suppressed the mitochondrial defects, including growth on respiration-dependent carbon sources and fluconazole resistance, associated withVAD1deletion. Tetracycline, an inhibitor of mitochondrial translation, was found to confer resistance to fluconazole in the wild-type andvad1Δ mutant, whereas the fluconazole susceptibility of theTUF1-overexpressing strain was unaffected by tetracycline treatment. In the presence of fluconazole, thevad1Δ mutant exhibited increased activation of the global transcriptional regulator Sre1.TUF1overexpression failed to alter cleavage of Sre1 in response to fluconazole in thevad1Δ mutant, suggesting thatTUF1repression in thevad1Δ mutant is distal to Sre1, or that it occurs through an independent pathway.

Given substantial evidence for IL-1beta involvement in the etiology of depression, the IL1B gene is a strong candidate for involvement in susceptibility to depressive disorders. However, association studies investigating this, to date, have been limited to just two polymorphisms (rs1143627[-31T/C] and rs16944[-511C/T]) that constitute only a fraction of the genetic variation that is actually present across this gene in the population. Here, in a family-based association study of childhood-onset mood disorders (COMD), characterized by onset of depression before the age of 15, we have used a gene-wide approach, employing a panel of five tagging SNPs spanning the entire gene. Based on TDT analyses of both individual alleles and haplotypes, in a study sample of 646 families (with 782 affected children), none of the SNPs, including those implicated in transcriptional regulation of the gene, showed evidence for association with COMD. This is the largest and most comprehensive study of IL1B in relation to mood disorders that has been carried out, to date. The results do not support the involvement of IL1B as a major factor in genetic risk for early-onset mood disorders.

The search for genes influencing the development of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has identified a number of associated genes within, or influencing, the dopamine neurotransmitter system. The focus on this system as the site of genetic susceptibility was prompted by information from animal models, particularly transgenics, as well as the mechanism of action of the psychostimulants, the primary pharmacological treatment for ADHD. Thus far, genes in the dopamine system reported as associated with ADHD, by at least one study, include the dopamine transporter, the dopamine receptors D1, D4 and D5, as well as genes encoding proteins that control the synthesis, degradation and release of dopamine. For some of these genes, replication across studies provides evidence supporting the relationship; however, for others, the data is far from conclusive and further work is needed. The quick progress in the genetic findings was initially surprising given the complexity of the phenotype and the relatively small sample sizes used in the initial studies. However, the high heritability of ADHD, as indicated by twin studies, may have contributed to the success. The genes studied so far are estimated to contribute only weakly or moderately to the risk for the development of ADHD. This may be because these genes, in fact, make only a small contribution. However, few studies have comprehensively examined the genetic information across the gene. This will lead to underestimates of risk if the polymorphism(s) tested is/are not the functional change(s) actually contributing to the genetic susceptibility and if linkage disequilibrium between tested marker(s) and causal variant(s) is weak, or if there is substantial allelic heterogeneity. While the studies thus far are very promising, virtually nothing is known on precisely how genetic variation in these genes actually contributes to risk; thus, functional studies are now required.

Background/Aims: Inflammatory cytokines induce a behavioral syndrome, known as sickness behavior, that strongly resembles symptoms typically seen in depression. This resemblance has led to the theory that an imbalance of inflammatory cytokine activity may be a contributing factor in depressive disorders. Support for this is found in multiple lines of evidence, such as the effects of cytokines on the activities of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, serotonin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and hippocampal function, all of which are implicated in the etiology of depression. In addition, associations between inflammatory activity and depressive symptomology have been documented in a number of studies, and the depressogenic effects of cytokine therapy are well known. Accordingly, given that depression has a substantial genetic basis, genes involved in the regulation of inflammatory cytokine activity are strong candidates for involvement in genetic susceptibility to depressive disorders. Here, we have tested 6 key genes of this type, TNF, IL1A, IL1B, IL6, IL1RN and IL10, as candidates for involvement in childhood-onset mood disorders. Methods: In this study of 384 families, each ascertained through a child with depression diagnosed before the age of 15 years, 11 polymorphisms of known or likely functional significance (coding and regulatory variants) were analyzed. Results: Testing for biased transmission of alleles from parents to their affected offspring, we found no evidence for an association between childhood-onset mood disorders and any of the polymorphisms, either individually or as haplotypes. Conclusion: The present study does not support the involvement of the TNF, IL1A, IL1B, IL6, IL1RN and IL10 variants as major genetic risk factors contributing to early-onset mood disorders.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has a strong genetic basis, and aberrant brain dopaminergic and noradrenergic activity is implicated in its etiology. Interleukin-1 (IL-1), its antagonist, IL-1Ra, and IL-1 receptors are all present in the brain, and IL-1 has been shown to influence both dopaminergic and noradrenergic function. Recently, Segman et al. [1] tested the IL-1Ra gene, IL1RN, as a candidate for involvement in ADHD.Using the transmission/disequilibrium test (TDT) to examine 77 nuclear ADHD families for the inheritance of alleles of an intronic 86-bp VNTR polymorphism, they found significant evidence for biased transmission of the 4-repeat allele (p = 0.04) and non-transmission of the 2-repeat allele (p = 0.03). Here, we sought to replicate this in an independent sample of families. In contrast to the previous findings, our analysis of 178 ADHD families showed no evidence for biased transmission of these alleles (p = 0.81 and p = 1.00, respectively). Our lack of evidence for association of this IL1RN polymorphism with ADHD, based on a much larger sample of families, suggests that the original finding may have been a spurious (i.e. false-positive) result. These findings highlight the need for further investigations of this marker, in additional independent ADHD samples, in the future.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has a strong genetic basis, and evidence from human and animal studies suggests the dopamine receptor D1 gene, DRD1, to be a good candidate for involvement. Here, we tested for linkage of DRD1 to ADHD by examining the inheritance of four biallelic DRD1 polymorphisms [D1P.5 (–1251HaeIII), D1P.6 (−800HaeIII), D1.1 (−48DdeI) and D1.7 (+1403Bsp1286I)] in a sample of 156 ADHD families. Owing to linkage disequilibrium between alleles at the four markers, only three haplotypes are common in our sample. Using the transmission/disequilibrium test (TDT), we observed a strong bias for transmission of Haplotype 3 (1.1.1.2) from heterozygous parents to their affected children (P=0.008). Furthermore, using quantitative trait TDT analyses, we found significant and positive relationships between Haplotype 3 transmission and the inattentive symptoms, but not the hyperactive/impulsive symptoms, of ADHD. These findings support the proposed involvement of DRD1 in ADHD, and implicate Haplotype 3, in particular, as containing a potential risk factor for the inattentive symptom dimension of the disorder. Since none of the four marker alleles comprising Haplotype 3 is predicted to alter DRD1 function, we hypothesize that a functional DRD1 variant, conferring susceptibility to ADHD, is on this haplotype. To search for such a variant we screened the DRD1 coding region, by sequencing, focusing on the children who showed preferential transmission of Haplotype 3. DNA from 41 children was analysed, and no sequence variations were identified, indicating that the putative DRD1 risk variant for ADHD resides outside of the coding region of the gene.

Aim: TSPO is a neuroinflammatory biomarker and emerging therapeutic target in psychiatric disorders. We evaluated whether TSPO polymorphisms contribute to interindividual variability in schizophrenia, antipsychotic efficacy and antipsychotic-induced weight gain. Patients & methods: We analyzed TSPO polymorphisms in 670 schizophrenia cases and 775 healthy controls. Gene–gene interactions between TSPO and other mitochondrial membrane protein-encoding genes (VDAC1 and ANT1) were explored. Positive findings were evaluated in two independent samples (Munich, n = 300; RUPP, n = 119). Results: TSPO rs6971 was independently associated with antipsychotic-induced weight gain in the discovery (puncor = 0.04) and RUPP samples (p = 3.00 × 10-3), and interacted with ANT1 rs10024068 in the discovery (p = 1.15 × 10-3) and RUPP samples (p = 2.76 × 10-4). Conclusion: Our findings highlight TSPO as a candidate for future investigations of antipsychotic-induced weight gain, and support the involvement of mitochondrial membrane components in this serious treatment side effect. Since the beginning of microgravity materials research, studies of diffusion in liquids have been performed as the typical research that efficiently uses the microgravity environment. Successful experiments in microgravity have demonstrated the ability of the Canadian Microgravity Program (QUEST I, QUELDs I and II) to make significant contributions to this field of international microgravity research. Recently, Millenium Biologix was selected to develop and build the advanced thermal environment facility (ATEN) for the International Space Station. The design of this new processing facility builds on the considerable experience gained in designing and building the QUELD II furnace and developing sealed samples for use on board a manned space platform. The system requirements for ATEN are presented, along with preliminary test data from a prototype furnace.

Lymphocyte-specific protein 1, recently renamed leukocyte-specific protein 1 (LSP1), is an F-actin binding protein expressed in lymphocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils in mice and humans. This study examines LSP1-deficient (Lsp1−/−) mice for the development of myeloid and lymphocytic cell populations and their response to the development of peritonitis induced by thioglycollate (TG) and to a T-dependent antigen.Lsp1−/− mice exhibit significantly higher levels of resident macrophages in the peritoneum compared to wild-type (wt) mice, whereas the development of myeloid cells is normal. This increase, which is specific for conventional CD5−macrophages appears to be tissue specific and does not result from differences in adhesion to the peritoneal mesothelium. The level of peritoneal lymphocytes is decreased inLsp1−/− mice without affecting a particular lymphocytic subset. The proportions of precursor and mature lymphocytes in the central and peripheral tissues of Lsp1−/−mice are similar to those of wt mice andLsp1−/−mice mount a normal response to the T-dependent antigen, ovalbumin (OVA). On injection of TG, theLsp1−/−mice exhibit an accelerated kinetics of changes in peritoneal macrophage and neutrophil numbers as compared to wt including increased influx of these cells. LSP1− neutrophils demonstrate an enhanced chemotactic response in vitro to N-formyl methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (FMLP) and to the C-X-C chemokine, KC, indicating that their enhanced influx into the peritoneum may be a result of increased motility. Our data demonstrate that LSP1 is a negative regulator of neutrophil chemotaxis.

The development of a reliable method of using PCR for detection of Cryptosporidium oocysts in environmental samples with oligonucleotide primers which amplify a portion of the sequence encoding the small (18S) subunit of rRNA producing a 435-bp product was demonstrated. The PCR assay was found to provide highly genus-specific detection of Cryptosporidium spp. after release of nucleic acids from oocysts by a simple freeze-thaw procedure. The assay routinely detected 1 to 10 oocysts in purified oocyst preparations, as shown by direct microscopic counts and by an immunofluorescence assay. The sensitivity of the PCR assay in some seeded environmental water samples was up to 1,000-fold lower. However, this interference was eliminated by either flow cytometry or magnetic-antibody capture. Sensitivity was also improved 10- to 1,000-fold by probing of the PCR product on dot blots with an oligonucleotide probe detected by chemiluminescence. Confirmation of the presence of Cryptosporidium oocysts in water samples from the outbreak in Milwaukee, Wis., was obtained with this technique, and PCR was found to be as sensitive as immunofluorescence for detection of oocysts in wastewater concentrates.

Mouse LSP1 is a 330 amino acid intracellular F-actin binding protein expressed in lymphocytes and macrophages but not in non-hematopoietic tissues. A 328 amino acid LSP1-related protein, designated S37, is expressed in murine bone marrow stromal cells, in fibroblasts, and in a myocyte cell line. The two proteins differ only at their N termini, the first 23 amino acid residues of LSP1 being replaced by 21 different residues in S37. The presence of different amino termini suggests that the LSP1 and S37 proteins are encoded by transcripts arising through alternative exon splicing. Here we report the genomic organization of the Lsp1 gene and show that the distinct N termini of LSP1 and S37 are encoded by two alternatively used exons, each containing a translational start codon. We also demonstrate that alternative 3′ acceptor sites are used in the splicing of exon 5. This results in LSP1 and S37 transcripts that either do or do not contain 18 bp encoding the 6 amino acids HLIRHQ of the acidic domain. Therefore, the Lsp1 gene encodes four protein isoforms: full-length LSP1 and S37 proteins, designated LSP1-I and S37-I and the same proteins without the HLIRHQ sequence, designated LSP1-II and S37-II. By in situ hybridization analysis we show that the S37 isoforms are expressed in mesenchymal tissue, but not in adjacent epithelial tissue, of several developing organs during mouse embryogenesis. This, together with our finding that S37 is an F-actin binding protein, suggests that S37 is a cytoskeletal protein of mesenchymal cells, which may play a role in mesenchyme-induced epithelial differentiation during organogenesis.

Thus far, over 20 genes have been reported as associated with ADHD by at least one study. Several genome scans have provided significant and suggestive evidence for linkage; however, overlap between regions across independent genome scans is sparse at this point. The quick progress in the genetic findings was initially surprising given the complexity of the phenotype and the relatively small sample sizes used in the initial studies. The studies thus far support the perspective that dysregulation of the neurotransmitter systems, particularly the dopamine and serotonin systems, are involved in ADHD. The majority of studies have focused on the dopaminergic system because of the strong neurobiological and pharmacological support for this system in ADHD. Positive association findings for the genes for the dopamine transporter and dopamine receptors D4 and D5 have been reported and replicated in a number of samples, as well as supported by meta-analyses. Not all studies have replicated association findings across genes, however, and nonreplication may result from low power due to small sample sizes, clinical heterogeneity between the samples, or differences in ethnic composition influencing the amount of linkage disequilibrium between the markers studied and the DNA change(s) contributing to the phenotype. Alternatively, false positive findings can occur and, thus, results from genetic studies should be interpreted cautiously. Thus far, most studies have relied on only one or a few markers per gene, with only a few studies having comprehensively examined the genetic information across the gene. Assuming that the polymorphisms tested are not the functional change contributing to the genetic susceptibility, the linkage disequilibrium between the markers tested and the causal variant will not likely be complete, resulting in an underestimate of the contribution of a gene and in false negative findings. Given that the genes studied so far are estimated to contribute only weakly or moderately to the risk for the development of ADHD, additional genes are predicted to be involved, and molecular genetic studies are continuing.

Researchers conducting candidate gene studies of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) typically obtain symptom ratings from multiple informants (i.e., mothers, fathers, and teachers) and use a psychologist’s best estimate or a simple algorithm, such as taking the highest symptom ratings across informants, to construct diagnostic phenotypes for estimating association. Nonetheless, these methods have never been empirically validated in the context of a molecular genetic study. In the current study, the authors systematically evaluated several methods of operationalizing phenotypes and the resulting evidence for association between ADHD and the candidate genes: dopamine transporter gene (DAT1) and dopamine D4 receptor gene (DRD4). Use of symptom scores as continuous scales in regression analysis suggested that the combination of mother and teacher ratings yielded the strongest evidence for association between hyperactive–impulsive ADHD symptoms and DAT1 and between inattentive ADHD symptoms and DRD4. Teacher ratings alone were sufficient for evaluating the association between inattentive symptoms and DAT1. Further, this regression-based method consistently yielded stronger evidence for association among ADHD symptoms, DAT1, and DRD4 than did three simple algorithms (i.e., the and, or, and averaging rules). The implications of these results for future molecular genetic studies of ADHD are discussed.

Twin studies have provided evidence for shared genetic influences between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and specific reading disabilities (RD), with this overlap being highest for the inattentive symptom dimension of ADHD. Previously, we found evidence for association of the dopamine receptor D1 gene (DRD1) with ADHD, and with the inattentive symptom dimension in particular. This, combined with evidence for working memory (WM) deficits in individuals with RD or ADHD, and the importance of D1 receptors in attentional processes and WM function, suggests that DRD1 may be a common genetic influence underlying both disorders. Here, in a study of 232 families ascertained through probands with reading problems, we tested for association of the DRD1 gene with RD, as a categorical trait, and with quantitative measures of key reading component skills, WM ability, and inattentive symptoms. Although no associations were found with RD, or with reading component skills or verbal WM, we found evidence for association with inattentive behaviour. Specifically, DRD1 Haplotype 3, the haplotype previously found to be associated with inattentive symptoms in ADHD, is also associated with parent- and teacher-reported symptoms of inattention in this sample selected for reading problems (P=0.023 and 0.004, respectively). Together, the replicated finding of Haplotype 3 association with inattentive symptoms in two independent study samples strongly supports a role for DRD1 in attentional ability. Furthermore, the association of DRD1 with inattention, but not with RD, or the other reading and reading-related phenotypes analysed, suggests that DRD1 contributes uniquely to inattention, without overlap for reading ability.

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a childhood-onset disorder characterized by marked inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. The dopaminergic system has been hypothesized to be involved in the development of ADHD. Positive associations have been found for the dopamine receptors D1 and D5 genes, suggesting that other genes involved in D1/D5 signalling may also contribute to ADHD. In this study, we tested the calcyon gene (DRD1IP), which encodes a brain-specific D1-interacting protein involved in D1/D5 receptors calcium signalling, for association with ADHD. The inheritance of nine polymorphisms in the calcyon gene was examined in a sample of 215 nuclear families, with 260 affected children, using the transmission/disequilibrium test. The most common haplotype, designated C1, demonstrated significant evidence for excess transmission. Quantitative trait analyses of this haplotype showed significant relationships with both the inattentive (parent's rating, P=0.006; teacher's rating, P=0.003) and hyperactive/impulsive (parent's rating, P=0.004) dimensions of the disorder. Two of the nine marker alleles included in haplotype C1, rs4838721A located approximately 10 kb 5' of the gene and rs2275723C located 10 bp upstream of the exon 5 acceptor splice site, also showed significant evidence for association when analysed individually. As these two variants are not predicted to alter calcyon function, we screened the gene exons by sequencing. No variation in the coding region was identified, suggesting that a causal variant allele resides elsewhere in a regulatory sequence of the gene. These findings support the proposed involvement of the calcyon gene in ADHD and implicate haplotype C1 as containing a risk allele.

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a highly prevalent and disabling condition with significant mortality risk from suicide and other unnatural causes. This ignominious description is alongside recent observations that the majority of excess deaths in BD are secondary to medical comorbidity. The medical burden in BD is associated with a clustering of risk factors (e.g., obesity, smoking, unhealthy dietary habits) and inadequate utilization of preventative and primary healthcare. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is also a prevalent multifactorial disease which imparts substantial illness burden. Preliminary investigations indicate that patients who suffer from BD with comorbid DM have a more severe course and outcome, lower quality of life, higher prevalence of medical comorbidity and higher cost of illness.We conducted a MedLine search of all English-language articles 1966-2004 using the key words: bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, diabetes mellitus, glucose metabolism, mortality, overweight, obesity, body mass index. The search was supplemented with manual review of relevant references. Priority was given to randomized controlled data, when unavailable; studies of sufficient sample size are presented.Subpopulations of BD patients should be considered at high risk for DM. The prevalence of DM in BD may be three times greater than in the general population.Bipolar disorder populations may be an at-risk group for glucose metabolic abnormalities. Opportunistic screening and vigilance for clinical presentations suggestive of DM is encouraged.

Abelson Leukemia Virus-transformed mouse cell lines with an early pre-B phenotype carry partially rearranged or unrearranged Ig-H genes and consequently do not express intact IgM-H protein (mu protein). Such early mu- pre-B cells express an intracellular protein complex of the pre-B cell specific 22 kDa protein lambda 5 and a 16 kDa protein designated p16. Late pre-B cell lines which carry a rearranged IgM-H chain gene in which a continuous translational reading frame has been established in the fused V-D-J element express intact mu-protein, which forms an intracellular complex with lambda 5 and p16. We show here that both the lambda 5/p16 or the mu/lambda 5/p16 complexes can be immunoprecipitated from lysates of cells surface labeled with 125I. Thus early pre-B cells express the lambda 5/p16 complex on the cell surface in the absence of mu protein, while mu+ late pre-B cells express a surface mu/lambda 5/p16 complex. To investigate a possible signal transduction function of the lambda 5/p16 and mu/lambda 5/p16 complexes on the surface of pre-B cell lines we measured the changes in intracellular free Ca2+ after treatment of cells with anti-lambda 5 or anti-mu antibodies. Two mu- early pre-B cell lines showed a rapid and transient increase in intracellular free Ca2+ when incubated with anti-lambda 5 antibodies but not when incubated with anti-mu, while the mu+ late pre-B cell line CB32 showed a rapid and transient increase in intracellular Ca2+ after incubation with anti-lambda 5 or anti-mu. These results show that both the lambda 5/p16 and the mu/lambda 5/p16 cell surface protein complexes can transduce an external signal to the inside of the cell, which implicates these complexes in the regulation of pre-B cell physiology.

The dihydrofolate reductase gene ( DFR1 ) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae has been mapped and sequenced. The gene was isolated on an 8.8-kb Bam HI fragment from a yeast genomic library by screening of Escherichia coli transformants for resistance to trimethoprim. A 1.8-kb Sal I- Bam HI fragment which was able to confer methotrexate resistance in yeast also complemented an E. coli DHFR-deficient ( folA ) mutant. Nucleotide sequence analysis revealed that the yeast DFR1 gene encoded a polypeptide with a predicted M r of 24230. The deduced sequence of 211 amino acid residues showed considerable homology with DHFRs from both bacterial and animal sources. The codon bias index of the DFR1 coding region is 0.0083, which indicates a random pattern of codon usage. The upstream region contains two consensus sequences required for binding of the yeast's positive regulatory factor, GCN4, suggesting that the DFR1 gene might be subject to the amino acid general control. Several potential ‘TATA’ boxes are located in the sequence 5' to the gene. Located in the 3' flanking region are homologies with several canonical sequences thought to be required for efficient transcription termination in yeast. We also mapped the DFR1 gene to a position 1.4 cM proximal to the MET7 locus on chromosome XV.
